    Not used set_intersection before, but I believe it will work with maps. I'm sure this is something to do with the comparitor on the map / pair but can't figure it out.

    I have a form with many input elements. Some are date fields with a jQuery UI datepicker alraedy attached: $("#someElement").mask("9?9/99/9999").datepicker({showOn: 'button', buttonText:'Click here to show calendar', duration: 'fast', buttonImageOnly: true, buttonImage: /images/calicon.gif' }); Then I have a key command bound to this function: function openCalendar() { var selection = document.activeElement; // { Need to test here if datepicker has already been initialized $(selection).datepicker("show"); // } } This works great for elements which already have the datepicker on them. However any other fields will throw a javascript error. I'm wondering the best way to test to see if datepicker has already been initialized on that field.

  • R.java file not updating with UI element's id

    I added some UI elements to the main.xml file in the res\layout folder and when I try to access them through the call, R.layout.my_uielement, the UI element that I created is not there. Even when I add a new xml file with UI elements, it still doesn't show up in the R.layout class. I have made checked the ids on them and they have the correct format (I think): android:id="@+id/my_button". What could be the problem? Do I need to compile the code first?

  • Javascript: Can't control parent of descendant nodes.

    I'm creating elements (level 1) dynamically which in turn create elements (level 2) themselves. However, the children of level 2 elements have "body" as their parent.   • Best approch for building link in JQuery with paramaters

    Hi, Very new to JQuery and MVC and webdevelopment over all. I'm now trying to accomplish this and is asking for a bit of advise: I'm basically trying to build a filter with 4 input elements, and 1 output. I have 4 select (drop down) elements in my page. As soon as one of them is changed, I need to build a href and get the partial view with the return values. My questionis now if I should try to build the href in the select element or if I can do it once in jquery, and don't have to have duplicated code. How would I accomplish this?

  • Algorithm to split an array into N groups based on item index (should be something simple)

    I feel that it should be something very simple and obvious but just stuck on this for the last half an hour and can't move on. All I need is to split an array of elements into N groups based on element index. For example we have an array of 30 elements [e1,e2,...e30], that has to be divided into N=3 groups like this: group1: [e1, ..., e10] group2: [e11, ..., e20] group3: [e21, ..., e30] I came up with nasty mess like this for N=3 (pseudo language, I left multiplication on 0 and 1 just for clarification): for(i=0;i<array_size;i++) { if(i>=0*(array_size/3) && i<1*(array_size/3) { print "group1"; } else if(i>=1*(array_size/3) && i<2*(array_size/3) { print "group2"; } else if(i>=2*(array_size/3) && i<3*(array_size/3) print "group3"; } } But what would be the proper general solution?     Hi, I am using REXML to edit an xml file but have ran into difficulties with formatting. I found the following via google: REXML::Attribute.class_eval( %q^ def to_string %Q[#@expanded_name="#{to_s().gsub(/"/, '&quot;')}"] end ^ ) I also have a problem in that REXML is reformatting the document. are there ways to stop this?   • Can I create a collection in Scala that uses different equals/hashCode/compare implementations?

    I'm looking for as simple way to create an identity set. I just want to be able to keep track of whether or not I've "seen" a particular object while traversing a graph. I can't use a regular Set because Set uses "==" (the equals method in Scala) to compare elements. What I want is a Set that uses "eq." Is there any way to create a Set in Scala that uses some application-specified method for testing equality rather than calling equals on the set elements? I looked for some kind of "wrapEquals" method that I could override but did not find it. I know that I could use Java's IdentityHashMap, but I'm looking for something more general-purpose. Another idea I had was to just wrap each set element in another object that implements equals in terms of eq, but it's wasteful to generate tons of new objects just to get a new equals implementation.   • Only compiles as an array of pointers, not array of arrays

    Suppose I define two arrays, each of which have 2 elements (for theoretical purposes): char const *arr1[] = { "i", "j" }; char const *arr2[] = { "m", "n" }; Is there a way to define a multidimensional array that contains these two arrays as elements? I was thinking of something like the following, but my compiler displays warnings about incompatible types: char const *combine[][2] = { arr1, arr2 }; The only way it would compile was to make the compiler treat the arrays as pointers: char const *const *combine[] = { arr1, arr2 }; Is that really the only way to do it or can I preserve the type somehow (in C++, the runtime type information would know it is an array) and treat combine as a multidimensional array? I realise it works because an array name is a const pointer, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to do what I'm asking in standard C/C++ rather than relying on compiler extensions. Perhaps I've gotten a bit too used to Python's lists where I could just throw anything in them...

  • c# - clear surface when resizing

    Hello, I'm trying to build my own custom control for a windows forms application in C#.Net. Currently I paint some rectangles and other graphic elements using the paint event. When I now resize the app form to fit the desktop size, all elements are repainted (which is exactly the behaviour I need) but the old one's are shown in the background. Here's what I'm doing by now: Pen penDefaultBorder = new Pen(Color.Wheat, 1); int margin = 5; private void CustomControl_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { CustomControl calendar = (CustomControl)sender; Graphics graphics = e.Graphics; graphics.Clear(Color.WhiteSmoke); graphics.DrawRectangle(penDefaultBorder, margin, margin, calendar.Width - margin * 2, calendar.Height - margin * 2); //... } Neither the graphics.Clear, nor adding a graphics.FillRectangle(...) will hide the old rectangle from the surface.   • Element Positioning affected by Browser Screen Resolution Change

    Hello, newbie developer here. There's this small problem I always encounter. Every time I try to change browser resolution (or what do you call the event when you scroll the mouse wheel while pressing ctrl), some elements (Mostly form elements) get to be shifted down or somewhere else, which does not conform with the original positioning. Im not sure if the problem is with the CSS or the markup itself and Im not really sure if this is much of a problem. Should I ignore it? (It doesn't feel very comfortable though, thinking that it might become problematic in the near future) Otherwise, any solution on how to avoid this? Simple explanations are very much appreciated, Thanks. (Perhaps the used term newbie should be replaced with noob?. Haha.)

    I have a div that has some padding, border, and style applied to it. Inside the div I have just some plain text. Something like this: <div id=test style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: blue;"> The text I would like to animate </div> Normally to animate the contents I would do something like this: $('#test > *').hide(1000); But apparently the > * only selects child elements, and not non-elements (text for example) So my current work around is: <div id=test style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: blue;"> <span>The text I would like to animate</span> </div> Making a span that is not really needed.

  • Jquery: Extracting the hrefs from multiple links on a page.

    Hi, I discovered that .attr() only applies to the first matched element on the page! So, I've been trying to get the hrefs from all the matched elements on a page, but to no avail. Here's what I tentatively wrote: var thelinks = $("td a").each(function(){ $(this).attr("href"); document.write(thelinks); }); I used document.write just to see what was going on, and I got a long list of "undefinedundefinedundefined" What I'm trying to do is extract the hrefs from each td a and then use ajax to visit those pages and do other stuff. I can get it work fine when it's dealing with just one link, but this multiple elements thing I can't figure out. Any help rendered is appreciated, I'm a novice to the world of Javascript and Jquery.

  • How do I maximize a function in Mathematica which takes in a variable length list as input?

    I have a time-series like function which gives an output based on a list of real numbers(i.e. you can run the function on a list of 1,2,3,... real numbers). The issue I'm encountering is how to maximize the function for a given list length(subject to a set of constraints). I could fix the function to a fixed number of real numbers(i.e. f [x_Real, y_Real] instead of f[x_List]) and treat x and y as the first two elements of the list, and call Maximize on the function, but this is not really elegant. I want to be able to easily change the number of elements in the list. What is the best way to optimize a function like I described, which takes a list as an argument, for a fixed list length?

Hopefully that wasn't thoroughly confusing! The code may be more self-explanatory than that.   • How can I detect 'any' ajax request being completed using jQuery?

    I have a page where I can insert some javascript / jquery to manipulate the output. I don't have any other control over the page markup etc. I need to add an extra element via jquery after each present on the page. The issue is that the elements are generated via an asynchronous call on the existing page which occurs after $(document).ready is complete. Essentially, I need a way of calling my jquery after the page has loaded and the subsequent ajax calls have completed. Is there a way to detect the completion of any ajax call on the page and then call my own custom function to insert the additional elements after the newly created s ?

  • Multiple children in single form in rails

    I have a model that has an arbitrary number of children entities. For simplicity lets call the entities Orders and Items. I would like to have a create Orders form where I input the order information, as well as add as many items as I want. If I click the "Add another item" button, a new set of form elements will be added to input the new data, amounts, etc.. I could hack this out in pure javascript, but I'm pretty sure there has to be a more magical, railsish way to do it, maybe with a partial view or something. I'm just a little too new to rails to know what it is. What is the best way to dynamically add the new form elements, and then to access them in the create controller?

    Hi i have a document from which i am trying to extract a date. But the problem is within the node along with the date their is some text too. Something like <div class="postHeader"> Posted on July 20, 2009 9:22 PM PDT </div> From this tag i just want the date item not the Posted on text. something like ./xhtml:div[@class = 'postHeader'] is getting everything. and to be precise, the document i have is basically a nodelist of this elements for eg i will get 10 nodes of these elements with different date values but to be worse the problem is sometime inside these tags some random other tags also pops us like anchors etc. Can i write a universal expath which will just get the date out of the div tag?
