  • Using innerHTML to add ordered list fails in IE

    - by Matt
    I'm using the following Javascript code to populate a DIV with an ordered list: // send script back in split list var scriptList = script.split("\n"); var finalScript = "<ol>\n"; var count = 0; while(scriptList.length >= count) { if((scriptList[count]=="") || (scriptList[count] == undefined)) { count ++; continue; } finalScript = finalScript + "<li>" + scriptList[count] + "</li>\n"; count ++; } finalScript = finalScript + "</ol>"; scriptingDiv.innerHTML = finalScript; In firefox, if i look in the DOM using Firebug, this correctly translates to the following and correctly displays an ordered list. <ol> <li>This is the first item in the list</li> <li>This is the second item in the list</li> </ol> In IE, it displays as if the </li> tags are <br /> tags and ignores all the other tags, like this: This is the first item in the list This is the second item in the list Do I need to dynamically add the ordered list to the DOM for this to work? As opposed to just setting the html code in the div using .innerHTML? TIA

  • Html 5 Time Tag not recognized by IE8 when cloning

    - by matsientst
    I have been having trouble getting IE to recognize the new Time tag in this context. This all works great in FF. Here is the code: var origComment = $('.articleComment:first div'); if (origComment.length > 0) { var commentHtml = origComment.clone(true); commentHtml.find('time').text('today'); var html = '<article class="' + ((side == 'LEFT') ? '' : 'that') + '">' + commentHtml.html() + '</article>'; $(html).insertAfter('.articleComment:last'); The HTML looks something like this: <article class="articleComment that"> <div id="156" class="parent"> <div class="byline"> <p>Posted <time pubdate="pubdate" datetime="2010-05-07T09:11:08">today</time> by<br/> <a class="username" href="/u/matt">matt</a> </p> <p class="report"><a href="#">Report?</a></p> </div> <div class="comment">left</div> </div> </article> IE can find the Time tag but it returns a collection of 2 elements. I assume the beginning and ending. However, I cannot access it to modify it. I have tried val(), html() and text(). I also can't drop to the actual HTMLElement. I can't get(0).innerHTML. But, if I .get(0).tagName it actually is the Time tag I've got. Any ideas? I hope this makes sense.

  • Reading HTML header info of files via JS

    - by Morten Repsdorph Husfeldt
    I have a product list that is generated in ASP. I have product descriptions for each product in an HTML file. Each HTML file is named: <product.id>.html. Each HTML file size is only 1-3 kb. Within the HTML file is <title> and <meta name="description" content="..." />. I want to access these in an efficient way so that I can output this as e.g.: document.write(<product.id>.html.title);<br/> document.write(<product.id>.html.description); I have a working solution for the individual products, where I use the description file - but I hope to find a more efficient / simple approach. Preferably, I want to avoid having 30+ hidden iframes - Google might think that I am trying to tamper with search result and blacklist my page. Current code: <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('produkt').onload = function(){ var d = window.frames[frame].document; document.getElementById('pfoto').title = d.title : ' '; document.getElementById('pfoto').alt = d.getElementsByName('description')[0].getAttribute('content', 0) : ' '; var keywords = d.getElementsByName('keywords')[0].getAttribute('content', 0) : ' '; }; </script>

  • Use CSS3 nth-child to alternate the float of images within DIV tags...

    - by Aaron Rodgers
    Basically, what I'm trying to create is a page of div tags, each has an image inside them and I'm trying to use CSS3's nth-child to alternate the float of that specific image. But for the life of me, I can't get the nth-child to locate those images. Here is my code so far... CSS .featureBlock img:nth-of-type(even) { float: left; } .featureBlock img:nth-of-type(odd) { float: right; } This is the HTML of one of those div tags.... <div class="featureBlock"> <h1>Multisize Players</h1> <div class="featureHelpBlock"><a href="#">More help with this</a></div> <img src="http://office2.vzaar.com/images/features/ft_multisize_players.png"> <span class="featureContent"><p>A variety of player sizes is important as we recognise the fact that no two videos or websites are ever the same and you will want something that suits your site&#8217;s look. • [jQuery] Sort contents alphabetically

    - by James
    So I am appending the following after an AJAX call, and this AJAX call may happen several time, returning several data items. And I am trying to use Tinysort [http://plugins.jquery.com/project/TinySort] to sort the list everytime, so the new items added are integrated nicely and sorted alphabetically. It unfortunately doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas? I mean, the data itself is being correctly appended, but unfortunately the sorting isn't occurring. var artists = []; $.each(data.artists, function(k, v) { artists.push('<section id="artist:' + v.name + '" class="artist"><div class="span-9"><img alt="' + v.name + '" width="34" height="34" class="photo" src="' + v.photo + '" /><strong>' + v.name + '</strong><br/><span>' + v.events + ' upcoming gig'); if (v.events != 1) { artists.push('s'); } artists.push('</span></div><div class="span-2 align-right last">Last</div><div class="clear"></div></section>'); }); $('div.artists p').remove(); $('div.artists div.next').remove(); $('div.artists').append(artists.join('')).append('<div class="next"><a href="#">Next</a></div>'); $('div.artists section').tsort('section[id]', {orderby: 'id'}); Thanks!

The value is currently set to 1, but it still displays the stuff in the else. Any ideas?

  • How can I add two models in one form, where one model is a has_many :through?

    - by Angela
    How do I model having multiple Addresses for a Company and assign a single Address to a Contact? Contacts belong_to a Company. A Company has_many Contacts. A Company also has_many Addresses. And each Contact has_one Address. I want to be able, whenever I create a New Contact, to access all the addresses in all Contacts that belong to the Company. Here is are my Models: class Company < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :name, :phone, :addresses has_many :contacts has_many :addresses, :through => :contacts end class Contact < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :first_name, :last_name, :title, :phone, :fax, :email, :company, :date_entered, :campaign_id, :company_name, :address belongs_to :company has_one :address accepts_nested_attributes_for :address end class Address < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :street1 has_many :contacts end How do I create the View in the _form for Contacts so that I can 1) Add an Address when creating a Contact; 2) Display the options of the Address. Here is how I am doing step 1, which is just to add a new address for a new contact: <% f.fields_for :addresses do |builder| %> <p> <%= builder.label :street1, "Street 1" %> </br> <%= builder.text_field :street1 %> <p> Right now, what I have doesn't work. The console says I cannot mass-assign addresses when I hit "submit" on this New contact form.

  • page variable in a repeater

    Hi I'm having a bit of an issue with a asp.net repeater I'm building a categories carousel with the dynamic categories being output by a repeater. Each item is a LinkButton control that passes an argument of the category id to the onItemClick handler. a page variable is set by this handler to track what the selected category id is.... public String SelectedID { get { object o = this.ViewState["_SelectedID"]; if (o == null) return "-1"; else return (String)o; } set { this.ViewState["_SelectedID"] = value; } } problem is that i cant seem to read this value while iterating through the repeater as follows... <asp:Repeater ID="categoriesCarouselRepeater" runat="server" onitemcommand="categoriesCarouselRepeater_ItemCommand"> <ItemTemplate> <%#Convert.ToInt32(Eval("CategoryID")) == Convert.ToInt32(SelectedID) ? • How to allow devise users to edit their profil?

    - by user1704926
    I have a namespace called "backend" which is protected by Devise. I would like now to allow users to edit their profil. So I created a users_controller in Backend. Here's the users_controllercode : class Backend::UsersController < ApplicationController layout 'admin' before_filter :authenticate_user! def index @users = Backend::User.all respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.json { render json: @users } end end def show @user = Backend::User.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.json { render json: @user } end end def edit @user = Backend::User.find(params[:id]) end def update @user = Backend::User.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| if @user.update_attributes(params[:user]) format.html { redirect_to @user, notice: 'Article was successfully updated.' } format.json { head :no_content } else format.html { render action: "edit" } format.json { render json: @user.errors, status: :unprocessable_entity } end end end end When I go on backend_users_path there is a list of all the users. I would like to permit to edit only his own profil. So I go on the Edit page : <%= link_to "Edit", edit_backend_user_path(backend_user.id) %> . Here's the Edit page code : <%= simple_form_for @user do |f| %> <div><%= f.label :email %><br /> <%= f.input :email, :autofocus => true %></div> <div><%= f.submit "Update" %></div> <% end %> And there is my problem : when I try to modify the email address, nothing happen. The update fails. How can I do this ? I'm quite lost. Thanks by advance.

  • JavaScript for loop index strangeness

    - by pythonBOI
    I'm relatively new to JS so this may be a common problem, but I noticed something strange when dealing with for loops and the onclick function. I was able to replicate the problem with this code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload = function () { var buttons = document.getElementsByTagName('a'); for (var i=0; i<2; i++) { buttons[i].onclick = function () { alert(i); return false; } } } </script> </head> <body> <a href="">hi</a> <br /> <a href="">bye</a> </body> </html> When clicking the links I would expect to get '0' and '1', but instead I get '2' for both of them. Why is this? BTW, I managed to solve my particular problem by using the 'this' keyword, but I'm still curious as to what is behind this behavior.

  • Using sortable_element in Rails on a list generated by a find()

    - by Eli B.
    Hey all, I'm trying to use the scriptaculous helper method sortable_element to implement a drag-and-drop sortable list in my Rails application. While the code for the view looks pretty simple, I'm really not quite sure what to write in the controller to update the "position" column. Here's what I've got in my view, "_show_related_pgs.erb": <ul id = "interest_<%=@related_interest.id.to_s%>_siblings_list"> <%= render :partial => "/interests/peer_group_map", :collection => @maps, :as => :related_pg %> </ul> <%= sortable_element("interest_"+@related_interest.id.to_s+"_siblings_list", :url => {:action => :resort_related_pgs}, :handle => "drag" ) %> <br/> And here's the relevant line from the partial, "interests/peer_group_map.erb" <li class = "interest_<%=@related_interest.id.to_s%>_siblings_list" id = "interest_<%=related_pg.interest_id.to_s%>_siblings_list_<%=related_pg.id.to_s%>"> The Scriptaculous UI magic works fine with these, but I am unsure as to how to change the "position" column in the db to reflect this. Should I be passing the collection @maps back to the controller and tell it to iterate through that and increment/decrement the attribute "position" in each? If so, how can I tell which item was moved up, and which down? I couldn't find anything specific using Chrome dev-tools in the generated html. After each reordering, I also need to re-render the collection @maps since the position is being printed out next to the name of each interest (I'm using it as the "handle" specified in my call to sortable_element() above) - though this should be trivial. Any thoughts? Thanks, -e

  • drop down menu will not display outside containing div in IE7..

    - by playahabana
    I am tearing my hair out over this, I have a dropdown menu using CSS and jQuery (thanks to Soh Tanaka) and it works perfectly in Firefox, Safari, Google chrome and I.E. 8, but in IE 7 it will not drop down outside the 'Banner div'. It drops below the nav div however. I have moved the nav div higher in the banner the result is the same, menu drops until it reaches the border of the banner div and then vanishes.... Below is the css. This is my first website and I have some limited understanding of what I am doing. The drop down menu includes transparent png's as links (I know, I know...but it's what the Boss wants...) please could someone take a quick scan at the below CSS and let me know what is wroong? Is this some form of the IE z-index bug? i have tried all different combinations of z-index and still I can't get a different result. . The html is below as well. - by premtemp
    Hello, I am trying to understand how to use Zend_DB in my program but I have some problem. The class below (DatabaseService) work when I pass it a simple query. However, if I pass it it query with a join clause my page just hangs and not error is return. I cut and paste the qry in a query browesr and it is valid Any help would be great $SQL = "select name from mytable" $db = new DatabaseService($dbinfo) $db ->fetchall($SQL ) // works ----------------------------------------------------------- $SQL = "select count(*) as cnt from EndPoints join CallID on EndPoints.`CallID` = CallID.CallID where EndPoints.LastRegister >= '2010-04-21 00:00:01' and EndPoints.LastRegister <= '2010-04-21 23:59:59' " $db = new DatabaseService($dbinfo) $db ->fetchall($SQL ) // DOES NO WORK class DatabaseService { function DatabaseService($dbinfo,$dbname="") { try { $dbConfig = array( 'host' => $this->host, 'username' => $this->username, 'password' => $password, 'dbname' => $this->dbname ); $this->db = Zend_Db::factory($this->adapter, $dbConfig); Zend_Db_Table::setDefaultAdapter($this->db); } catch(Zend_Exception $e) { $this->error = $e->getMessage(); Helper::log($this->error); return false; } } public function connnect() { if($this->db !=null) { try { $this->db->getConnection(); return true; } catch (Zend_Exception $e) { $err = "FAILED ::".$e->getMessage()." <br />"; } } return false; } public function fetchall($sql) { $res= $this->db->fetchAll($sql); return $res; } }

  • SQL Server find and replace in TEXT field

    - by incubushead
    I have a database in SQL Server 2005 that was brought up from SQL Server 2000 and is still using TEXT type fields instead of varchar(max). I need to find and replace a string of characters in the text field but all of the examples of how to do this that I have found don't seem like they would work for me. It seems the UPDATETEXT command requires that the two parameters "insert_offset" and "delete_length" be set explicitly but the string i am searching for could show up in the text at any point or even at several points in the same cell. My understanding of these two parameters is that the string im searching for will always be in the same place, so that insert_offset is the number of spaces into the text that the UPDATETEXT command will start replacing text. Example: Need to find: &lt;u&gt; and Replace it with: <u> Text field example: *Everyone in the room was <b>&lt;u&gt;tired&lt;/u&gt;.</b><br>Then they woke <b>&lt;u&gt;up&lt;/u&gt;. Can anyone help me out with this? THANKS!

  • Print table data mysql php

    - by Marcelo
    Hi people, i'm having a problem trying to print some data of a table. I'm new at this php mysql stuff but i think my code is right. Here it is: <html> <body> <h1>Lista de usuários</h1> <?php $host="localhost"; // Host name $username="root"; // Mysql username $password=""; // Mysql password $db_name="sabs"; // Database name $tbl_name="doador"; // Table name // Connect to server and select database. mysql_connect("$host", "$username", "$password")or die("cannot connect"); mysql_select_db("$db_name")or die("cannot select DB"); $sql="SELECT * FROM $tbl_name"; $result=mysql_query($sql); while($rows = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo $row['id'] . " " .$row['nome'] . " " . $row['sobrenome'] . " " . $row['email'] . " " . $row['login'] . " " . $row['senha'] . " " . $row['idade'] . " ". $row['peso'] . " " . $row['fuma'] . " " . $row['sexo'] . " " . $row['doencas']; echo "<BR/>"; } mysql_close(); ?> </body> </html> All columns of the echo command exist in my table in the database. Don't get why it's not printing those values. Thanks for the attention.

  • NoMethodError / undefined method `foobar_path' when using form_for

    - by user1850886
    I'm using form_for to create a chatroom and when I view the page I get the following error: NoMethodError in Chatrooms#new undefined method `chatrooms_path' for #<#<Class:0xa862b94>:0xa5307f0> Here's the code for the view, located in app/views/chatrooms/new.html.erb: <div class="center"> <%= form_for(@chatroom) do |f| %> <%=f.text_field :topic%> <br> <%=f.submit "Start a discussion", class: "btn btn-large btn-primary"%> <% end %> </div> Here's the relevant controller: class ChatroomsController < ApplicationController def new @chatroom = Chatroom.new end def show @chatroom = Chatroom.find(params[:id]) end end If I change the line <%= form_for(@chatroom) do |f| %> to <%= form_for(:chatroom) do |f| %> it works fine. I've searched around for similar questions but none of the solutions have worked for me. Help?
