• How do I focus an "urgent" application?

  Sometimes applications will wiggle in the launcher and have a blue triangle. (See compiz config settings for Unity.) How can I set a keyboard command to bring that application to the front in Ubuntu 11.10? I had it set in 11.04, but I don't remember how. This is useful when programs open in the background or if you activate them from another app. (I have an alias to send files to a single gvim instance from Terminal instead of opening them in their own window. When gvim gets the file, it wiggles but doesn't gain focus.)

  I have an application that was built with MVC1 and am in the process of updating to MVC2. I have a custom DLL and BLL, of which the model objects are custom business objects that reside in a separate class library. I was using this validation library in MVC1, which worked great. It worked great, but I want to eliminate the extra plugins and use what is available. Rather than use the Enterprise Library validation attributes I have converted to using DataAnnotations and want to use jQuery validation as the client side validation. My questions are: 1) Is the MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation JS file still required, where do I download. 2) How to you automate the validation to views that do not have models, IE Membership sign in page? 3) How to you add model errors in a custom business layer.   When custom class loader in webapp context file is used and the context is being initialized and started, the custom classloader is just a substitution for the default webapp class loader, right ? But what are the consequences of doing this? Because, for instance, in Liferay portal an application can use custom PortalClassLoader, which just extends webapp class loader and does nothing else, it's the same class, no modifications at all. And I didn't find any following initializations like repository location changes etc. The point is, that the PortalClassLoader provides the webapp with an access to the ROOT portal context, which AFAIK doesn't use PortalClassLoader, according to debugger.

  Hi all, I've done a few searches and couldn't find an answer. I'm trying to update the status of my business's "Application Page" (not personal page, and not "Fan Page") on Facebook. Two questions for the community: 1) How to update the "Application Page" status programmatically? I found the answer for a "Fan Page" here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2097665/authorizing-a-facebook-fan-page-for-status-updates). Does anyone think it will work for an "Application Page" as well? 2) How to update the "Application Page" status through a third party service? Ideally, I'd like to post to one location and have it show up a) on my business twitter status and b) on my Facebook "Application Page" status. • Display custom error page when file upload exceeds allowed size in ASP.NET MVC2

  Hello! My main issue is that I want to display an custom error page when an uploaded file exceeds allowed size (maxRequestLength in web.config). When the big file is uploaded an HttpException is thrown before my upload action method in the controller is invoked. This is expected. I have tried to catch the exception in a custom attribute and also to override OnException in the controller. Why isnt it possible to catch the exception in either the attribute or the OnException method? Its possible though to catch the exception in Application_Error in global.asax but neither Response.Redirect nor Server.Transfer works for redirecting to the custom error page. Server.Transfer gives the "failed to process child request" error and response.redirect gives the "Http headers already sent" error. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Marcus

  hey all, im trying to implement a custom error page, what i want to be able to do is have a single generic error page which can display the error which occurred or other information (custom error message). when a error occurs on the website, the user should be directed to this page which shows the error message. so for example if i had a page which was trying to update something to a database, but something went wrong, i should be redirected to the error page which will have some custom text like something like " there has been an error with bla bla bla ... please contact administrator". hope this makes sense thanks

  Hi, I have an application developed on RAD using WAS 6.0. I migrated the code to WID 7.0. After making some changes in the EJB modules(Had to remove the bnd.xmi file from each ejb module to deploy the application on Application Server)the application is running fine, but the EJB modules give the following error: NamingException has Occured While Getting Local Home javax.naming.NameNotFoundException:nullName ejb/com/igcc not found in context "local:". I am not able to figure out what changes do it need to make to run the application on WID. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Ayush

  Hi, I've created certificate wix extension (extension of IisExtension). This includes a custom table, which is consumed by a custom action. A column is defined as follows: <columnDefinition name="Account" type="string" length="72" primaryKey="yes" modularize="property" category="formatted" description="..." /> This column contains values like "[Property]". When the custom action reads this column like this: hr = WcaGetRecordString(hRecCertificate, vcpqAccount, &pwzTemp); it get's the string "[Property]". But I need "PropertyValue".   Hello. I want to handle following scenarios in my new web application. If multiple users log into the application with same credentials, the application should deny access. Since I have out of process session store, I would be able to make out when this situation happens. So I can deny all requests after first successful attempt. This will however not work if the user instead of logging out of the application, closes the browser. The session will continue to reflect in the store for the period of timeout value. If a user attempts to open a new browser windows (Ctrl+N), the application should defeat this attempt. Every new page can potentially fiddle with cookies. I want to therefore deny the users the ability to open new window.

  I want to write a plugin for redmine that will depend on quite a few custom fields, so I would like to create the custom fields automatically. Ideally within the plugin code, or if not by a script I can run when I install the plugin - I really don't want to have to create 10+ fields through the web interface when I set this up, especially when one is a list with quite a few values. Can anyone tell me if there are standard ways of doing this? Also is there a good way to export the custom fields from an existing installation?

  I have some custom validation that I need to perform that involves checking the selected option of a dropdown and flagging it as invalid should the user select a specific option. I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 and have a custom Validator and custom server side and client side validation rules as described in this blog article. The server side validation is working fine, however, the client side validation is failing. Here is the javascript validation rule: Sys.Mvc.ValidatorRegistry.validators["badValue"] = function(rule) { var badValue = rule.ValidationParameters["badValue"]; return function(value, context) { if (value != badValue) { return true; } return rule.ErrorMessage; }; }; The rule is being applied to the dropdowns successfully, and placing a breakpoint within the returned function confirms that the validation is firing, and that the 'badValue' is being correctly set. However, 'value' is always null, and so the check always fails. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi all I want to create a custom new item page for sharepoint but there are two approached that I can use and I want to share your experience in determining which is better. The first: is to create a page in a library then create a C# library project to handle the events of the controls on the page. The second: is to define a feature of the content type of my list and specify the new item form to be my custom form, then create a website containing the custom form and put this site at the layouts folder. for me the first approach is fine but the problem is that a user may access the default sharepoint new item form which I don't want to happen. but I don't like the idea of placing the form in a library on the site. so which is better in your opinion ? thanks

  I am using ELMAH to log unhandled exceptions in an ASP.NET Webforms application. Logging is working fine. I want to pass the ELMAH error log id to a custom error page that will give the user the ability to email an administrator about the error. I have followed the advice from this answer.   So I'm trying to parse an incoming request in PHP which has the following header set: Authorization: Custom Username Simple question: how on earth do I get my hands on it? If it was Authorization: Basic, I could get the username from $_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"]. If it was X-Custom-Authorization: Username, I could get the username from $_SERVER["HTTP_X_CUSTOM_AUTHORIZATION"]. But neither of these are set by a custom Authorization, var_dump($_SERVER) reveals no mention of the header (in particular, AUTH_TYPE is missing), and PHP5 functions like get_headers() only work on responses to outgoing requests. I'm running PHP 5 on Apache with an out-of-the box Ubuntu install.

  Hi, I'm creating a custom action that executes a script on a database. The problem is that the connectios uses intergrated security, so when I try to open the connection i get the error: Login Failed for user 'Domain\ComputerName$'. When i check the identity on the custom action (using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent()) I always get "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" but I'm running the installer under my account which has enough privileges on the Database. How can I run the custom action under the real user runnig the msi file or solve this problem in any other way?

Once it's completed, they'll see all the output from the application which includes progress details. Not very useful. Therefore I'm trying to find a sample that shows the best way to: Start an external application (hidden) Monitor its output periodically as it displays information about it's progress (so I can extract this and present a nice percentage bar to the user) Determine when the external application has finished (so I can't continue with my own applications execution) Kill the external application if necessary and detect when this has happened (so that if the user hits "cancel", I get take the appropriate steps) Does anyone have any recommended code snippets?

• Cant get the catch statement to catch the custom exception

• ASP MVC 2 : Custom display of a required form element based on ModelMetaData

  I have an MVC 2 application that utilises forms. The required fields within the form are set using attributes that update the model metadata. The form fields are created using the MVC HtmlHelper method : Html.EditorFor. This works fine so far as validation is concerned, but it seems that by default the required fields are not displayed to the user (for example by appending a * to the control). If I wanted to provide some custom means of displaying this fact to the user (lets immagine I want to change the background colour of the edit control for example), where is the best place to do it. Would I need to create a custom html helper to replace EditorFor? I tried but it seemed difficult to gain access to the metadata for the correct property. I already have a custom ModelMetaDataProvider so there is no problem adding it there if that is the correct place.

  I am in the process of converting a legacy application from proprietary technology to a Spring based web app, leaving the backend system as is. The login service is provided by the backend system through a function call that takes in some parameter (username, password plus some others) and provides an output that includes the authroizations for the user and other properties like firstname, lastname etc. What do I need to do to weave this into Spring 3.0 security module. Looks like I need to provide a custom AuthenticationProvider implementation (is this where I call the backend function?). Do I also need a custom User and UserDetailsService implementation which needs loadUserByName(String userName)? Any pointers on good documentation for this? The reference that came with the download is okay, but doesn't help too much in terms of implementing custom security.

  I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?

• Problem in displaying custom UITableViewCell

  Hi All, I have a tableview displaying data using a custom UITableViewCell(say cell1). On touch of a row, I change the custom cell to another custom UITableViewCell(say cell2). Also I increase the size of row of the selected cell to accomodate, more items of cell2. My problem is that the approach works fine when the number of rows in table view is less. When the number of rows increses, the rows expand on touching, but the data displayed is same as that of cell1. Cell2 doesn't seem to be loaded at all. • How to deal with routing when developing a custom CMS in Codeigniter

  Hi All - I’m a recent user of Codeigniter and am developing a simple backend CMS to manage pages. Based on a URL (in this example I have hidden “index.php”) : mysite.com/pagename I would like the system to detect if there is a value of “pagename” in my database, if there is, I need the system to re-route to a custom controller (eg: Pagemaker) and if there is no record called pagename, just do it’s normal thing (i.e. find a controller called pagename) Currently I have: $route['(:any)'] = "pagemaker/create/$1"; whereby all requests are forwarded to my custom function. However I want to change this structure so that if the page does NOT exist in the db, the traditional codeigniter request process is followed. Can anyone offer any advice about how to complete this? Or any advice about routing custom CMS’s in codeigniter in general?
