  I store information about images in a database - also their ImageFormat (jpeg, png etc). Console.WriteLine(System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg.Guid); Outputs: b96b3cae-0728-11d3-9d7b-0000f81ef32e I want to store this in the database as a GUID - and read from the database and get the associated ImageFormat. How do I cast the GUID b96b3cae-0728-11d3-9d7b-0000f81ef32e to System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg.Guid ?

I want to keep my database & tables simple, so I was going to have `pKey, formTitle, formJSON` on a table, and then store {["firstName":{"required":"true","type":"text"},"lastName":{"required":"true","type":"text"}} in formJSON. would this slow down the DB server too much to set live? Any input is appreciated.

  Hello . I have the following problem. I have an object with some DateTime properties , and a Table in database that I store all that objects , in Sql server I want to store the DateTime properties in some columns of DateTime Datatype, but the format of datetime in sql server is different from the DateTime class in c# and I got an sql exception saying "DateTime cannot be parsed". I know how to solve this by making the format yyyy-MM-dd but is this the proper and best solution to do this?

  I am trying to bind connection to the DB using JNDI in my application that runs on JBoss. I did the following: I created the datasource file oracle-ds.xml filled it with the relevant xml elements: <datasources> <local-tx-datasource> <jndi-name>bilby</jndi-name> ... </local-tx-datasource> </datasources> and put it in the folder \server\default\deploy Added the relevant oracle jar file than in my application I performed: JndiObjectFactoryBean factory = new JndiObjectFactoryBean(); factory.setJndiName("bilby"); try{ factory.afterPropertiesSet(); dataSource = factory.getObject(); } catch(NamingException ne) { ne.printStackTrace(); } and this cause the error: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: bilby not bound then in the output after this error occured I saw the line: 18:37:56,560 INFO [ConnectionFactoryBindingService] Bound ConnectionManager 'jb oss.jca:service=DataSourceBinding,name=bilby' to JNDI name 'java:bilby' So what is my configuration problem? I think that it may be that JBoss first loads and runs the .war file of my application and only then it loads the oracle-ds.xml that contain my data-source definition. The problem is that they are both located in the same folder. Is there a way to define priority of loading them, or maybe this is not the problem at all. Any idea?

  Users will get to my site using a specific parameter, e.g. : http://www.mysite.com/whatever/?keepTrackOfThisValue=foo or http://www.mysite.com/who/cares/?keepTrackOfThisValue=bar I would like to store the value of this peculiar parameter in Session everytime I found it in the QueryString. I'm currently using the Session_Start event in Global.asax in order to store this but I would like to override the value each time the parameter value change, which is not possible my way.   Hi, I am using SQL server 2008 express and some of our columns are defined as varchar(255). Should I convert these columns to NvarChar(255) or nvarchar(max)? The reason I ask is I read that nvarchar(255) for unicode characters would actually store 1/2 the number of characters (since unicode characters are 2 bytes) whereas 255 with varchar() would allow me to store 255 characters (or is it 255 - 2 for the offset). Would there be any performance hits using nvarchar(max)? JDs

  NSXMLTypeStore is used when starting Core Data backed application by default because it's good for debugging purposes. But practice dictates that developer should use either NSBinaryStoreType, NSInMemoryStoreType or NSSQLiteStoreType store types in release builds. How do you manage changes between debug and release builds? I believe that changing store type from NSXMLTypeStore to, say, NSBinaryStoreType in code on each release is kinda cumbersome.

After I log in, I should be taken back to xyz.com/admin#page1 For this I need to store the url in session when I visit any page.   Hi all. I have managed to serialize my very basic GUI-object containing a JTextArea and a few buttons to a file 'test.ser'. Now, I would like to completely restore the previously saved state from 'test.ser', but seem to have a misconception of how to properly deserialize an objects state. The class MyFrame creates the JFrame and serializes it.
