  When I type a command $ grep \\h junk then shell should interpret \\h as \h as two pairs of \ become \ each, and grep in turn, should interpret \h as \h as \ becomes \, so grep should search for a pattern \h in junk, which it is doing successfully. But it's not working for \\$. Please explain why ?

  We have DFS setup using the DFS Management Administrator Tool. I turned on replication in the Distributed File System Administrator Tool as well and this morning we lost tons of files from that share. Please explain to me why this was wrong and if there is anything that can be done to repair it. (No, we don't have backups. We have some shadow copies, but those were deleted as well. We have been using DFS as its own backup)

I have installed it, but i am not sure on how to make the rules for it, i want the rules to prevent all major attacks like cross site scripting, remote file inclusion etc i'm using mod security 2.6.5, apache 2.2 with php 5.3.10. i went to this site http://www.gotroot.com/mod_security+rules but i am not sure how to set up the rules or which one to use, or how i add them properly in httpd.conf, would someone please explain the process and also recommend rules for someone in my position?

  In the SuSE /etc/crontab the entry to run the cron.{hourly,daily,monthly,weekly} scripts is coded as: -*/15 * * * * root test -x /usr/lib/cron/run-crons && /usr/lib/cron/run-crons /dev/null 2&1 Notice that the very first character of the specification is a dash character (-), and this is NOT a typo.   i created a .bat script to perform daily folder compression. it is working fine when i double click the .bat file. However, it doesnt work when i include it in window scheduler. I don't get that: as soon as I open a Webpage, whether it's with Firefox or Chrome (I hate so much IE that I didn't test with it), there are tons of TCP connexions between "localajaxchat" and a supposed google ("1e100") domain.
