  • Wordpress page content not showing up

    I am using the latest nightly build WordPress 3.0-beta2-14729 and the Theme TwentyTen. The content is not showing up where I indicated below. But when I go to the edit window, it is all there. Does anyone know what the problem is?   • How do you post content to a specific template position?

    I can't figure this out. I purchased a template / theme from RocketTheme, but I can't figure out how to add content at a specific position. The templates have "module positions" that collapse. I'd like to add some content at one of the module positions. If I add articles, they seem to go into "mainbody". But I'd like to have content in other areas of the template. How do I take some text, images, or other content, and get them to display in these other positions (i.e., TOP-A, or FEATURE-A, etc)?

    I just setup IntenseDebate on my blog this evening and am, for the most part, pleased with it. Do they offer any sort of method to gather the total number of comments for multiple pages from a single page?

  • GNU Make - Dependencies on non program code

    A requirement for a program I am writing is that it must be able to trust a configuration file. To accomplish this, I am using several kinds of hashing algorithms to generate a hash of the file at compile time, this produces a header with the hashes as constants. Dependencies for this are pretty straight forward, my program depends on config_hash.h, which has a target that produces it. The makefile looks something like this : config_hash.h: $(SH) genhash config/config_file.cfg > $(srcdir)/config_hash.h $(PROGRAM): config_hash.h $(PROGRAM_DEPS) $(CC) ... ... ... I'm using the -M option to gcc, which is great for dealing with dependencies. If my header changes, my program is rebuilt. My problem is, I need to be able to tell if the config file has changed, so that config_hash.h is re-generated. I'm not quite sure how explain that kind of dependency to GNU make. I've tried listing config/config_file.cfg as a dependency for config_hash.h, and providing a .PHONY target for config_file.cfg without success. Obviously, I can't rely on the -M switch to gcc to help me here, since the config file is not a part of any object code. Any suggestions? Unfortunately, I can't post much of the Makefile, or I would have just posted the whole thing.

  • Is it hacky to manually construct JSON and manually handle GET, POST instead of using a proper RESTful API for AJAX functionality?

    I started building a Django app, but this probably applies to other frameworks as well. In Backbone.js methods that call the server (fetch(), create(), destroy(), etc.), should you be using a proper RESTful API such as one provided by Tastypie or Django-Piston? I've founded it easier and more flexible to just construct the JSON in my Django Views, which are mapped to some URLs that Backbone.js can use. Then again, I'm probably not leveraging Tastypie/Django-Piston functionality to the fullest. I'm not ready to make a full-fledged RESTful API for my app yet. I simply would like to use some of the AJAXy functionality that Backbone.js supports. Pros/Cons of doing this?

  • What file or directory is unique to Plesk and unlikely to change in the future?

    I am writing a program that needs to be able to detect the presence of various web hosting control panels. I don't use Plesk, or have access to a server running Plesk, so I am unable to ascertain what file or directory I could test for to reliably conclude that the system is running Plesk. What file or directory indicates "Yes, this has Plesk installed" that is unlikely to ever change in the future, but would be present on all versions of Plesk out in the wild? Thanks in advance :)

    hello the point is, if i'm logged in (and as almost every windows user, i've got an admin-account), and someone comes across my not locked pc, it is possible to change my password the pro-way through using: net user Admin %NEW_PASSWD% what can i do to prevent that, besides not being logged in as admin. i once saw a way, where the 'net user' command was substituted by a .bat file. so if you call 'net user Admin ...', it runs this .bat-file instead, which locks the notebook immediately. problem is, i honestly don't know how i could let windows substitute eg net.exe with a .bat-file. (too little windows knowledge) do you know any way how to do it? i'd appreciate it.

    Is it possible to create a script/live distro that replaces some system32 files? To explain it a bit more in details: There is a company that has multiple computers (think in 100/1000's) and they all are missing the same system32 files since the company's software removed it. The systems are distributed all over the world and are managed by "normal" people who don't have any knowledge about computers. I want to create a usb stick that i can mail to all those people which contains a script that executes when you boot the usb. this script should replace the missing system32 files without any user input is this possible, and if so how could i manage this?

    I have an iPhone application that posts data to a web application ... and I want to only accept data posted from an iPhone application that was purchased from the iTunes store. Is there a way to do this? Is there something (or somethings) I can pass from the iPhone app to the web application that I can use to do such verification? Is there a way to allow users to enter in a comment and or rating for my app from directly within my app and have that data posted back to the Android Market? If so, what would the code for that look like if I used an EditText view to allow user input? If not, then is my only other option directly linking to my app in the Market (i.e. the user clicks the link in my app, or a button, and the Market app launches with my app page displayed)?     I am able to output rsync logs on the client machine using --log-file=FILE but I want the output to be sent to the server instead. The client is a W7 machine (cygwin) and the server a Linux NAS. This is the command I use which successfully logs the file on the client.   • How to filter RSOP to show only modified policies?

    Is it possible to view only those elements of GPO that are actually modified/specified? For example, when looking at RSOP for an OU, I have loads of options which are mostly not specified - can I automatically filter it to show only e.g. that it doesn't allow to use control panel or install software, instead of looking through all options?   • Which permissions need to be assigned to a normal user to allow him to change SHARE permissions?

    As in the subject - I am wondering, which permissions (if it is possible) do I need to assign to a regular user to modify the share permissions - e.g. to add another user with full control permissions, or to deny someone read access to the folder - on a share level. I know that this is possible through NTFS permissions, but I am wondering whether it is also possible on share level. Any ideas how to do that? Or perhaps only the adminstrator/creator/person who shared the folder has the access to this? I am using win2003 Any ideas? Thanks

  • Cannot Ping PS3 Using a Wired Connection

    PS3 is using the inbuilt wireless network adapter (I cannot change this) When I try to ping the PS3 from ANY computer which is on a wired ethernet connection, I get Request Timed Out errors. Whenever I ping from a computer with a wireless connection, it works just fine. To be clear: Pinging from Wireless PC to Wireless PS3 works Pinging from Wired PC to Wireless PS3 fails I have tried this on several PC's and Laptops all with the same results. As an attempted solution I have set up static IP's on all related devices. More information: Default Gateway = 192.168.2.1 PS3(wireless) = 192.168.2.100 PC(wired) = 192.168.2.99 Subnet Mask(for both devices, I have made sure) = 255.255.255.0 Thanks

When I first setup the system I gave the virtual hard drive 20gb of space to work with, but I also set it to dynamically expand (or so I thought).   • How can I order my entries by sum from a separate table?

    I am wondering how I can order posts in my PostController#index to display by a column total in a separate table. Here is how I have it set up. class Post < ActiveRecord::Base :has_many :votes end and Class Vote < ActiveRecord::Base :belongs_to :post end I user can either vote up or down a particular post. I know there are likely better ways to do what I am currently doing but looking for a fix given my current situation. When a user votes up a post, a value of 1 is passed to the Vote Table via a hidden field. When a user votes down a post a value of -1 is passed to the same column (names vote). I am wondering how I can display my posts in order of the sum of the vote column (in the vote table) for a particular post. Another way to say that is, if a particular post has a net vote sum of 5, I want that to appear above a post with a net vote sum of 4. I am assuming that I need to affect the PostController#index action in some fashion. But not sure how to do that.
