• Haskell Convert Byte String To UTC Time

  I have been trying to make a function in Haskell to take a ByteString which is a datetime and convert it to UTC time taking into account the time zone from the original encoding. I am very new to Haskell so I may be making a really basic mistake. convertStringToUtc s = do estTimeZone <- hoursToTimeZone -5 time <- read $ B.unpack(s) localTimeToUTC estTimeZone time The error I get is: Couldn't match expected type `Int -> b' against inferred type `UTCTime' In the expression: localTimeToUTC estTimeZone time In the expression: do { estTimeZone <- hoursToTimeZone - 5; time <- read $ B.unpack (s); localTimeToUTC estTimeZone time }

  I am trying to use dom4j to validate the xml at http://www.w3schools.com/Schema/schema_example.asp using the xsd from that same page.   I'm trying to get a Custom Security Realm in Glassfish working (i tried 3.0.1 final and 3.1 B33). I read nearly all tutorials about this, but it doesn not work on my System. I'm getting the error Login failed: javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: unable to find LoginModule class: de.company.security.utility.CustomLoginModule when trying to login. Here is what i did: I created a little Maven project, which contains the needed Realm class, CustomRealm, and the corresponding LoginModule, CustomLoginModule.   Hi, i have the next code written in C#....it create a tex file using utf-8.....the problem is that appears that is not a real valid utf-8 file because, when i use pdflatex it doesn't recognize the characters with accents. Somebody knows a way to write a real UTF-8 file? When i use TexmakerX to create a utf8 file with the same latex code, pdflatex doesn't complaints, so the problem must be in the generation.   I am attempting to resolve timestamped SNAPSHOT dependencies with Ivy. The environment is Ant + Ivy 1.2.0 + Archiva. Archiva itself is populated from Maven2 builds. Ivy is only used to resolve dependencies (from a single, non Maven2 project). How can Ivy be configured to correctly resolve timestamped artifacts from an Archiva or m2 repository? • StreamReader.ReadToEnd() returning an empty string

  I have a method private static String DecompressAndDecode(byte[] data) { GZipStream decompressor = new GZipStream(new MemoryStream(data), CompressionMode.Decompress); StreamReader decompressed = new StreamReader(decompressor, Encoding.UTF8); String result = decompressed.ReadToEnd(); return result; } I have some GZipped text as input and the result is supposed to be a String representation of this text. The problem is that the method returns an empty string. What is puzzling me is that when I step trough the method in debug mode and reach the return statement the result variable is an empty string but if I create a watch for the decompressed.ReadToEnd() expression it returns me the text. What I would expect at this point is the result variable to contain the text and the decompressed.ReadToEnd() expression evaluating to an empty string. (Reevaluating the decompressed.ReadToEnd() expression returns an empty string as expected). There must be something obvious I'm missing here.

  Hi, I am trying to post some data with jQuery Ajax, but the parameters in my Ajax method are null. This is simple test to send data: var dataPost = { titel: 'titel', message: 'msg', tagIds: 'hello' }; jQuery.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Create", contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', data: $.toJSON(dataPost), dataType: "json", success: function(result) { alert("Data Returned: "); } }); And my Ajax method looks like this: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(string title, string message, string tagIds) {... } There is something basic wrong with the data I send, but I can't figure out what. All the time the title, message and tagIds are null, so there is something wrong with the encoding, I just don't know what. Note: The jQuery.toJSON is this plugin

• Invalid UTF-8 for Postgres, Perl thinks they're ok

  I'm running perl 5.10.0 and Postgres 8.4.3, and strings into a database, which is behind a DBIx::Class. These strings should be in UTF-8, and therefore my database is running in UTF-8. Unfortunatly some of these strings are bad, containing malformed UTF-8, so when I run it I'm getting an exception DBI Exception: DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xb5 I thought that I could simply ignore the invalid ones, and worry about the malformed UTF-8 later, so using this code, it should flag & ignore the bad titles. if(not utf8::valid($title)){ $title="Invalid UTF-8"; } $data->title($title); $data->update(); However perl seems to think that the strings are valid, but it still throws the exceptions. • It is possible to override a plugin's Controller from another plugin?

  I'm developing a plugin (MyPlugin) which combines some security functions to use it as a standard plugin for my next Grails application. It integrates the Spring-Security-Core and Spring-Security-UI plugins, and by its installation all dependencies should be installed automatically by adding the dependencies in the BuildConfig like: plugins { compile: ...} So far everything works fine, but in MyPlugin I'm changing the behaviour of the Spring-Security-UI plugin (password encoding in User Domain), by overwriting the UserController. Executing MyPlugin leads to the expected behaviour and new Users are created using the correct Controller. However, when installing MyPlugin in another Grails application, this behaviour fails and the original UserController of the Spring-Security-Ui plugin is used. I tried to solve this by configuring the dependsOn and loadAfter properties in the GrailsPlugin file, but without any success. Is it possible to fix this? Or is it only possible to overwrite behaviour/controllers in the main application?

  Hello StackOverflow community, Using Google App Engine, I wrote a keyToSha256() method within a model class (extending db.Model) : class Car(db.Model): def keyToSha256(self): keyhash = hashlib.sha256(str(self.key())).digest() return keyhash When displaying the output (ultimately within a Django template), I get garbled text, for example : ?????_??!`?I?!?;?QeqN??Al?'2 I was expecting something more in line with this : 9f86d081884c7d659a2feaa0c55ad015a3bf4f1b2b0b822cd15d6c15b0f00a08 Am I missing something important ? Despite reading several guides on ASCII, Unicode, utf-8 and the like, I think I'm still far from mastering the secrets of string encoding/decoding. After browsing StackOverflow and searching for insights via Google, I figured out I should ask the question here. Any idea ? Thanks !

• Adding audio channel using ffmpeg

  Hi all, I am working on ffmpeg and trying to add a audio stream on the fly. I am using AudioQueues and I get raw audio buffer. I am encoding audio with linear PCM and hence the audio I get will be of raw format, which I know ffmpeg does accept it. But I cannot figure out how. I have looked into AVStream, where in we have to create a new stream for this audio channel but how do I encode it to a video which is already initialized in another AVStream structure. Overall, I would like to have an idea of the architecture of ffmpeg. I found it difficult to work since it is least documented. Any pointers or details are appreciated.
