• How do I unlock a user account?

  I've been to system settings and to User Accounts. My account is the only one on the system and I have previously been able to UnLock the screen so that I could set my account to login without password prompt. That didn't make any effect on the system. I still have to enter a password to log in, but now I can't unlock the User Accounts dialog to make any changes at all. What do I need to reset? note how the unlock box in the upper right hand corner isn't available for selection...

It developed a fault and required replacement of a few parts, all hot swappable. Although we had suppport/warranty this did not include onsite so we arranged to have the parts delivered. • What do you do about content when someone asks you to build a website

  I am an experienced asp.net developer and asp.net mvc and I have my own CMS that I have written but starting to think there should be another approach. When someone asks you to develop them a website how do you develop it so that they can add pictures,slideshows, content, news items, diary events. On a side note do you give them a design for the home page and inner page and thats it. I'm just thinking if they turn around and say 6 months down the line I want a jquery slideshow on the right hand side of this page how do you or CMS's handle it?

• Scrolling Box2D DebugDraw

  I'm developing a game using Box2D (javascript implementation - Box2DWeb), and I would like to know how I can pan the debug draw. I know the usual answer is - don't use debug draw, it's just for debugging. I'm not, however not all my objects are on the same screen, and i'd like to see where they are in the physics representation. How can I pan the debug drawing? As you can see the debug draw stuff, is show on the top left, but it only shows a small part of the world. • Is committing/checking code everyday a good practice?

  I've been reading Martin Fowler's note on Continuous Integration and he lists as a must "Everyone Commits To the Mainline Every Day". I do not like to commit code unless the section I'm working on is complete and that in practice I commit my code every three days: one day to investigate/reproduce the task and make some preliminary changes, a second day to complete the changes, and a third day to write the tests and clean it up^ for submission. I would not feel comfortable submitting the code sooner. Now, I pull changes from the repository and integrate them locally usually twice a day, but I do not commit that often unless I can carve out a smaller piece of work. Question: is committing everyday such a good practice that I should change my workflow to accomodate it, or it is not that advisable? ^ The order is more arbitrary and depends on the task, my point was to illustrate the time span and activities, not the exact sequence.

My algorithm: STEP 1) Convert S, T to char[] STEP 2) for i=0, i < T.length , i++ STEP 3) for j=S.length-1, j>0 , j-- STEP 3 is the magic, instead of going about matching M,A,T,H, this matches M, H, T and finally A. This helps in eliminating a lot of possible partial matches. For example, if I go sequentially like M A as in Boyer Moore's method ... it can match Matter, Mass, Matchstick etc. using M _ _ H will bring down size of partial matches.   Those upgrading to AutoVue 20.2.0 Client/Server Deployment will notice a few changes in the installation process as compared to previous releases. The two notable changes are: SSL configuration during the installer: To configure SSL encryption between the AutoVue VueServlet and AutoVue server. User authentication configuration during the installer: To configure Kerberos authentication between the AutoVue client and AutoVue server (for environments where users are not already authenticated to a back-end system). These configurations are optional although recommended.   In the last version of Ubuntu I used (10.04) I had the following options, which I can not find on 11.10: Set amount of time before screen dims Show percent instead of time in battery icon Change/add screensaver Change default applications (especially in the new launcher) Also, is there any way to make it so unity opens to more apps/all instead of the current default? Basically I just need to know if there's any way to customize Ubuntu that little bit more. Any help with any of the options above would be greatly appreciated! Note: I'm a noob and don't know much about command line, so gui apps would be preferred, if possible.

  I messed up my phpmyadmin, I haven't logged in, in phpmyadmin, in a while, and as a result i forgot my password, so i purged it like so: sudo apt-get purge phpmyadmin. I did get some error messages asking for my password but i forgot that, so i just pressed ignore, after that i installed phpmyadmin again like so: sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin. This time i wont be forgetting my password. But now, when i logging my phpmyadmin I get a 404 not found error page!? Question: How do i completely remove phpmyadmin and as a result get phpmyadmin working again Note: I am running Ubuntu 12.10(AMD64)

• Bootstrap 3.0.0: How to use data-slide-to outside of indicators?

  I am attempting to make a small gallery like the one shown below - I'm sure you've all seen them considering they are fairly common. When trying to make one using bootstrap I ran into a major problem. I can't seem to link the smaller bottom images to the larger top one that was when one of the smaller ones is clicked it changes to the selected image. I am attempting to use data-slide-to however it does not seem to work outside of the "carousel-indicators". I can't put it into the carousel indicators list because that moves the images up into the gallery (It may be possible to fix this with CSS but my attempts have been worthless). Does anyone know the problem? I've tried tags around each image that didn't seem to work then I tried divs. Still nothing. Things to note: I am using 3.0.0 All images are generated (if you haven't guessed already) Smaller images are separate from larger one (not auto scaled down)

• How to make a deb install only when the dependency is installed, or the conflicting packages aren't?

  I'm making a package for Cydia, but since it uses APT/dpkg, I thought I'd ask this question here. I want my package to only install if gsc.wildcat (represents an iPad) is installed, or if gsc.front-facing-camera (represents an iPhone 4/4S) is not installed. This setup would let the package only install on the 3GS or an iPad, but there's no package that represents a 3GS that I know of. It also requires iOS 5 (firmware (>= 5.0)). Here's an excerpt from my control file: Depends: gsc.wildcat, firmware (>= 5.0) Conflicts: gsc.front-facing-camera How can I do this with only Depends/Conflicts? (Please note that this question is about dpkg and not Cydia.)

• The next step for a graduate?

  I will complete my degree in Computer Science in July of 2013 however I will have two years of military service left. I would like to get some hands on C#/C++ programming experience in the mean time. I have been looking around the web at all the open source project that are out there. There are literally 10's of thousands. How would you go about picking one that is: A) good for a graduate level programmer B) will probably go somewhere, and C) are willing to take a novice under their wing. I would even be happy to work for a company for free, remotely as a debugger, tester, or what have you. As a side note would prefer to stick in the C# realm but understand I need to branch out at the same time.

• Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86_64 sound artifacts when scrolling with firefox

  I've been using Ubuntu since the 10.04 LTS version and i have a sound problem that still remain in my fresh install of the 12.04 LTS AMD64 version. This install has been performed by formatting the / partition and my documents were kept safe in the separated /home partition. The problem : When i listen to a audio or video source while browsing the web with Firefox, I have some sound artifacts when i'm scrolling and stops when i'm not doing it. This happens when i'm doing X11 related actions too, such as switching between virtuals desktops. Computer configuration of my laptop : - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS AMD64 - Plantronic USB Headphones - Intel HDA Audio sound card (laptop) with SigmaTel STAC9200 chip - AlsaMixer v 1.0.25 - Nvidia GeForce 7950 GTX with Nvidia 295.40 driver Any advices are welcome here :) Note : This is my first post on AskUbuntu.

• Why is using C++ libraries is so complicated?

  First of all, I want to note I love C++ and I'm one of those people who thinks it is easier to code in C++ than Java. Except for one tiny thing: libraries. In Java you can simply add some jar to the build path and you're done. In C++ you usually have to set multiple paths for the header files and the library itself. In some cases, you even have to use special build flags. I have mainly used Visual Studio, Code Blocks and no IDE at all. All 3 options do not differ much when talking about using external libraries. I wonder why was there made no simpler alternative for this? Like having a special .zip file that has everything you need in one place so the IDE can do all the work for you setting up the build flags. Is there any technical barrier for this?

  I work for a small company where I maintain a number of project all at once. I would like to create a blog and note software changes/update so that I can keep track of things. Plus it will also serve as help tool for other if they need help. I would like to install something locally on my machine or network, either ASP or PHP is fine. Which software would you recommend? Is it good idea, bad idea? Has anyone done it? I have worked with wordpress and I like it but I am afraid it is not best for code snippets. Any thoughts I do use source control. I am not an expert on it though. I use three different development environment. 1. Visual Studio 2. Eclipse 3. SQL Server Management Studio

• NEON Intrinsic Support in CE7

  Just a side note for people who may be interested in creating high performance code to take advantage on NEON instruction set but wish to use NEON intrinsic instaed of coding assembly. Compiler won't generate NEON opcode unless application use the NEON intrinsic explicitly. Basically, you need ARMv7 build enviroment, so compiler can emit NEON opcode. Intrinsic prototype can be found in public\COMMON\sdk\inc\arm_neon.h and that is all you got. If you ever find an NEON opcode does not have corresponding intrinsic, you still need to use the old trick - write that part of code in assembly.

  I cannot help but think that this is currently wrong.  There are two editions of StreamInsight (SI), Premium and Standard.  A link to their differences is here Points to note Developer Edition and Evaluation Edition represent Enterprise Edition in SQL Server but not SI where they represent Datacentre Edition.  Won’t this be confusing when people evaluating SI find that it is not the same animal when they move to Enterprise Edition? If SI Premium is the only thing you want out of the SQL Server box then it is going to be a high cost. The latency rates as well quoted on the site above make Premium Edition essential if you are going to be using this to do Real-Time analytics.

  (in via Nancy) Customers using EPM 11.1.2.3 and a web browser to launch the Essbase Administration Services Console will lose the ability to launch EAS Console via the Web URL if they apply Java 1.7 build 45. Development is currently investigating this issue. Workaround: If Java 1.7 Update 45 has been installed, it will need to be uninstalled and a previous version will need to be installed. Older versions of Java are available in the Java Archive Note: Though it may work, Java 1.7 is not supported in previous versions of EAS. • ClearTrace Shows Execution History

  The latest release of ClearTrace (Build 38) now shows the execution history of a particular statement. You’ll need to save the trace files to a trace group instead of just using the default.  That’s as easy as typing something into the trace group name when you upload the trace.  I usually put the server name in this field. Build 38 also re-enables support for statement level events.  If your trace includes RPC:StmtCompleted or SQL:StmtCompleted events those will be processed and save.  In the results tab you can choose to view statement level or batch level events.  Please note that saving statement level events in a trace can generate HUGE trace files very quickly.

Nokia C3 doesn't even gets wifi signal. But wifi signal appears in my samsung mobile GTS3-850 and I can access wifi if I put wifi security option to "none" On the other hand, if I create password then Nomatters, if I type right password or not, it doesn't connect to that wifi. • How to easily delete all email forwarders in cPanel?

  I know that I can import a list of email forwarders using CPanel, but how can I delete a list? I want to manage 300+ addresses - as a membership list for my organization. I want to be able to delete that many without clicking 'Delete' and then 'Confirm' (or whatever it is) 300 times. Even if I am able to simply delete ALL forwarders, then upload a modified list - that's fine with me. Note: I'm using a shared hosting package through SiteGround. The tech service rep informed me that I can't use CPanel scripts in a shared environment. Any suggestions?

• What types of programming require practical category theory?

  Category theory has applications in theoretical computer science and obviously is central to abstract mathematics. I have heard that it also has direct practical applications in programming and software development. What type of programming is practical category theory necessary for? What do programmers use category theory to accomplish? Please note my use of "necessary" and "require" in this post. I realize that in some sense most programmers will benefit from having experience in different types of theories, but I am looking for direct applications where the usage of category theory is essential, i.e. if you didn't know category theory, you probably couldn't do it. Also, I'd like to clarify that by "what type of programming," I am hoping less for a broad answer like "functional programming," and more for specific applications like "writing bank software" or "making operating systems."
