  • Backup Software that Prompts when Changes are made

    Here is what I want to do. Hit backup and backup all my files to a jump drive. Take files on the road with me and edit them on the jumpdrive with my netbook. Come back to my computer and hit restore and have the files uploaded back to my computer, but I want to be prompted what files have changed and if I want to replace or keep the old file.     I know that the copy command has an option to automatically replace a file if it already exists, but I want to know if it is a way to copy the files only if they not already exist (/Y). I do not know the actual file names in the batch code, as I copy from the source using wildcards in the copy command: copy *.zip c:\destination The reason I want this instead of automatic overwrite is that the files are large, and to skip existing would save a lot of execution time.

    I have about 300 emails (gmail) that go like this: Dear [name] Order ID:123456789 Purchased by: [name I need] (blah blah another 26 lines of crap (total of 30 lines)) What I need help is how to save gmail's mails locally into .txt and how to export 4th line from each text file. I can easily run Replace 'Purchased by: ' to remove that and keep only the names from that line in a list, but other than that I have no clue Any ideas?

  • ADFS 2.0 Server Prompts For Credentials When Using FQDN

    We have an ADFS test enviroment set up, but we are running into issues with login prompts. If we browse to ADFS from Domain A we get a token sucessfully from ADFS, however when we browse from Domain B we are getting prompted for credentials. Domain A trusts Domain B but Domain B does not trust Domain A. The weird thing is, if we replace the full domain name with the server's IP address we can sucessfully get through from both domains. I feel like this should be a really simple solution, but we're stumped.

    I recently inherited an Infiniband network containing multiple switches, and I know that one of these switches is running the subnet manager. The rest supposedly have that feature turned off, or were never enabled. The trouble is, I have no idea which one it is... I'd like to replace the switch subnet manager with OpenSM running on a couple of my infrastructure servers. Is there any way, short of logging into each switch individually, to determine which switch is running the SM?

    Following this earlier question on customizing the color of the message rows in Thunderbird, I now want to do the same for the folder pane. I assume if I use the same userchrome code and replace the appropriate css IDs (i.e. #threadTree) with the correct ones for the folder pane, I am all set. However, where can I find a list of all Thunderbird CSS id's that can be used in userchrome.css? I've googled and installed Thunderbird DOM inspector, but that didn't do the trick.

    I have data of the following format that I want to input into LibreOffice calc data | num | num | num | num For some reason Libreoffice does not think the string "3214 " is a number by default (trailing white space). I want to replace '(\s)*|' with '|' where \s stands for space and * for the Kleene star operation. And do this at multiple places in each line (all matches). I tried: sed -i 's/(\s)*|/|/' DataStats0914.txt But it has no effect.

    I want to replace postfix with exim4 on my Ubuntu test server to reflect the setup I have on my production server, but apt-get and aptitude (quite understandably) insist on removing several packages that depend upon having a mail stack. However, in this case I am prepared to override apt-get's undoubted good sense as exim should fulfil all the requirements of the dependent packages, providing mail and sendmail functionality for my applications. I don't want to remove the dependent packages as there is months of effort invested and, although backed up, will be a pain to reconstruct properly.

    I had to throw a machine together in a bit of a hurry- to replace a machine that suddenly failed (no one had bothered to keep a "warm" backup) It has Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008 The snag is, I installed them off our MSDN subscription media, due to me not having "licensed" software. I need to put this machine into production. We are in the process of buying the licenses from a MS reseller now.     So I have a ThinkPad computer that I've installed a program called "Deep Freeze" which restores your computer to the "Frozen" state. I also have a Toshiba computer with no Deep Freeze on it. My question is that would it be possible to creat a system restore point on my Toshiba and then replace the system volume information folder with the one on the ThinkPad so I could restore to a point with no Deep Freeze? Would this work?

I want to mknod /dev/random 1 9 to replace the slow random, I think the current entropy is randomly enough, if urandom is based on the same entropy, and all succeed random numbers are generated based on that entropy, I don't think there'll be any vulnerable.

    I'm not even sure if this is possible with Outlook's current rule set but I thought I'd ask. I'd like emails that meet certain characteristics to automatically be moved from my inbox after they are a day old. I get a lot of notification emails that I end up having to remove the next day manually since I get new ones to replace them each day. So a rule would be like: If the email is from [email protected] and older then 1 day move to already read folder.
