  • Looking to display a text RSS feed as Windows 7 desktop/background

    I'd like to display an RSS feed (updating dynamically of course) on my Windows 7 desktop. The posts I've read about Windows 7 RSS backgrounds are all about displaying various background images delivered via RSS. What I'm looking for would be similar to the Windows XP/95 Active Desktop feature which allowed for web pages to be presented on the desktop background.

  • translate by replacing words inside existing text

    What are common approaches for translating certain words (or expressions) inside a given text, when the text must be reconstructed (with punctuations and everythin.) ? The translation comes from a lookup table, and covers words, collocations, and emoticons like L33t, CUL8R, :-), etc. Simple string search-and-replace is not enough since it can replace part of longer words (cat dog ? caterpillar dogerpillar). Assume the following input: s = "dogbert, started a dilbert dilbertion proces cat-bert :-)" after translation, i should receive something like: result = "anna, started a george dilbertion process cat-bert smiley" I can't simply tokenize, since i loose punctuations and word positions. Regular expressions, works for normal words, but don't catch special expressions like the smiley :-) but it does . re.sub(r'\bword\b','translation',s) ==> translation re.sub(r'\b:-\)\b','smiley',s) ==> :-) for now i'm using the above mentioned regex, and simple replace for the non-alphanumeric words, but it's far from being bulletproof. (p.s. i'm using python)

    I'd like to make the background image for my input field disappear once the user has typed any amount of text in it. Is there a simple way to do that in javascript? I can get it so the bg disappears while the field is focused, but then it returns once they move on to the next field.   • Text overflowing floated div

    I have a problem with a fluid layout I am attempting to create. I was wondering why I am not able to get overflow:hidden to work on the left menu text on this site. As you can see here, I have labelled in blue, the text which I would like contained within the left menu div, although it overflows and pushes the rest of the site down with it.     I am trying to implement vectorization of a text file...I have created a dictionary (Unique words in all the documents) ... Which is the best way to implement this in java? For example - My dictionary has the following words - {w1, w2, w3, w4} And I have 2 documents each having subset of the words in the vocabulary. I need to write to a text file the matrix in the form -- 1,3,4,0 0,0,2,1 Here each row represents a document and the values represent the occurrence of each word in the document.     for my application I have to build a little customized time ticker which ticks over after whatever delay I tell it to and writes the new value in my textArea. The problem is that the ticker is running fully until the termination time and then printing all the values.     I use Excel sheets to track the status of tasks through a set of discrete statuses. I'd like to be able to format these automatically, with the start being red, the end being green and progressing through the combination colors in the middle. Status1 (Red) Status2 (More Red than Green) Status3 (More Green than Red) Status4 (Green) The "Color Scales" option under Conditional Formatting seems like it could be made to work, but it wants numbers. So, my question, can it be done? Using conditional formatting or other formulas to achieve the desired affect?

  • Intellij-Idea: Marking all files of unknown type be type: text (so that they are searchable)

    Many of my scripts etc in intellij are marked with a question mark. Then when I click on them them it prompts me: The file "bla" cannot be associated with a registered file type. Please choose one: <insert table of file choices> This would not matter except the files are not searchable (with ctrl-shift-n) until they are marked as text. This is a major problem for me. I have an enormous code base and I don't want to mark all of the unknown files as text. Is there anyway that I can do that? *(Note: I have cross posted this to the intellij form

    I need to start reading The TCP/IP Guide. I have to admit that compared to other informative guides/tutorials/articles out there, this guide isn't so cluttered. However, I still find it a little bit hard to read, especially when reading for several hours. I don't know if it's the font, the contrast or the spacing, but this is why I've always preferred learning from books rather than from the internet. What can I do to make this guide more readable? I am reading it on Google Chrome.

    I've got an excel spreadsheet where I would normally use a VLOOKUP. In this case I need to find the ID of the record when comparing email addresses, so the email address is the unique id here. For example on sheet 1 A B C D Person Id | Family Name | First Name | Email #N/A | Doe | John | [email protected] On Sheet 2 A B C D Person Id | Family Name | First Name | Email 12345 | Doe | John | [email protected] Basically on sheet 1 I've got 800 records, on sheet 2 450. I know the 450 are in Sheet 1, so I need to find the ids of those, and put them on sheet 1 where I've got lots more data for each person. What I've tried so far is a VLOOKUP, but I keep getting an error. I'd like to do it with some sort of formula and not using any copy paste and remove duplicates. Any ideas?

The number and labels on the buttons correspond to values in the domain model, so I don't think I can use XAML to specify this. I have tried the naive approach below, but it does not work. Button b = new Button(); b.Content = "Two\nLines"; or b.Content = "Two\r\nLines"; In either case, all i see is the first line ("Two") of the text.

  • Drag and Drop text - What am I missing?

    I am trying to add drag-and-drop text to my Doc-View App. I added the COleDropTarget variable to the view class, registered it in OnCreate(). I added OnDragEnter(), OnDragOver(), OnDragLeave() and OnDrop() to that class as virtual overrides, but none of them are ever called. I previously had added m_pMainWnd-DragAcceptFiles(TRUE); to my App class. I tried commenting out that statement, but no affect. I tried using Spy++ to see where the messages go while I do a drag, but it logs nothing at all while I am dragging the text around in the App. What do I need? Or what else can I try, to narrow down the problem? TIA, Harvey

  • Finding text in Ubuntu (gnome) terminal output

    Imagine this scenario: You run a command at gnome terminal. This command has made a bunch of outputs to the terminal. After some time, you realize you need the value of a variable (let's say variable_needed) that was printed by the command somewhere in the terminal. How to find it? KDE terminal used to have a shortcut ctrl+shift+f which searched the terminal output. It seems that gnome-terminal doesn't have it (at least at Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS). Is there any way of adding it? Is there any other good terminal I could use that has it? Notice that the output has already been written so I don't want (cannot) run the command again combined with grep, |, , vim, emacs, etc.

    I have a javascript application and when I run it on firefox I am getting the following erro on the console: "The stylesheet was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html" is not "text/css". DumbStuck!! EDIT: Note that it tells that "The stylesheet ABCD..." But ABCD is actually an HTML file. Edit (ANSWER) : Actually I had wrongly put href="", and hence the html file was refenecing itself as the CSS. Mozilla had the similar bug once, and it is from there I got the answer. But everyone's else answers helped me too. Thanks.

  • Reset UITextField's original placeholder text

    I'm adding some user feedback mechanism into my app. The user types some comments into a text field and when that editing is done it updates a UITextView. Then when the user hits the submit button and moves on in the app the user may have need to send more feedback from the same form for a different item. I can reset the other fields and labels in the app to their default values when I hide the view, but not the textField (?). How can I reestablish the placeholder text next time the user accesses this view? Your suggestions are humbly appreciated.

  • C# Button Text Unicode characters.

    C# doesn't want to put Unicode characters on buttons. If I put \u2129 in the Text attribute of the button, the button displays the \u2129, not the Unicode character, (example - I chose 2129 because I could see it in the font currently active on the machine). I saw this question before, link text, but the question isn't really answered, just got around. I am working on applications which are going all over the world, and don't want to install all the fonts, more then "don't want", there are that many that I doubt the machine I am working on has sufficient disk space. Our overseas sales agents supply the Unicode character "numbers". Is there another way forward with this? As an aside, (curiosity), why does it not work?
