  • Auto-hide taskbar in Chrome

    - by Nicu Zecheru
I use the auto-hide taskbar feature and I have problems with Google Chrome when it is maximized: the taskbar will not pop up at mouse hover over the taskbar position (really annoying). I know that Google admits it is a bug and it hasn't been fixed yet, and probably it will never be fixed. My question is if you know a workaround to avoid this issue.

  • iPod notification alarm

    - by monkies
Is there an app that can turn a notification into an alarm? With my iPod Touch i don't always hear notifications and if I don't hear it the first time it will not remind me again. Is there any way to have the notifications bug me until I turn it off? Something like the alarm they have on the standard iPod.

  • soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 11s! error with Xen virtual machines

    - by Arun
Getting a kernel panic with this error on my XEN VPS's. (all on 8.04 LTS) The kernel version on my Dom-0 is 2.6.24-25-xen and the kernel version on the Xen VPS is also 2.6.24-25-xen. I read something about disabling APIC from here http://muffinresearch.co.uk/archives/2008/08/20/ubuntu-bug-soft-lockup-cpu0-stuck-for-11s/ but that doesn't seem to help as well. Anyone experienced this and are there any workarounds? Thanks in advance!

  • Prevent "^C" from being printed when aborting editing current prompt

    - by blueyed
When you're editing a prompt in bash, and then press Ctrl-C to abort it, "^C" might get printed where the cursor has been. When you were in the middle of the line, this makes copy'n'pasting more difficult and IIRC it can be configured to not display it (and overwrite parts of the command line). I do not have this problem myself (using zsh, which does not print "^C"), but ran across this in a Konsole bug report.

  • How do I trouble shoot a program which regularlly falls into a not responding state?

    - by Dave
Lately I've been using Visual Studio 2008 and about once a day, sometimes more it will lock up. What advanced techniques can I use to determine what is causing the problem? I believe that it's one of the plug-ins I'm using *cough*Resharper*cough* but I'd like to be sure. I've been losing work and I'd like to file a bug report somewhere but I'm not seeing anything in any of my event logs which looks suspect to me. Working on a Windows XP box.

  • seaudit report detail

    - by user1014130
I've just started using selinux in the last 6 months and am getting to grips with it. However, using sealert on a new CENTOS 6 server, Im not getting the level of detail I was with CENTOS 5. To illustrate: Running sealert -a /var/log/audit/audit.log On CENTOS 5 I get: Summary: SELinux is preventing postdrop (postfix_postdrop_t) "getattr" to /var/log/httpd/error_log (httpd_log_t). Detailed Description: SELinux denied access requested by postdrop. It is not expected that this access is required by postdrop and this access may signal an intrusion attempt. It is also possible that the specific version or configuration of the application is causing it to require additional access. Allowing Access: Sometimes labeling problems can cause SELinux denials. You could try to restore the default system file context for /var/log/httpd/error_log, restorecon -v '/var/log/httpd/error_log' If this does not work, there is currently no automatic way to allow this access. Instead, you can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ (http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/selinux-faq-fc5/#id2961385) Or you can disable SELinux protection altogether. Disabling SELinux protection is not recommended. Please file a bug report (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi) against this package. Does anyone have any idea why Im not getting the "Additional information" that I do with CENTOS 5? Thanks in advance Dylan

  • Piping Objects From Format-Table to Export-CSV Has Unexpected Results

    - by makerofthings7
I'm running this command to get a list of all Activesync users and export them to C:\activesync.csv Get-ActiveSyncDevice | Get-ActiveSyncDeviceStatistics | sort-object status, devicetype , lastsyncattempttime | ft FirstSyncTime ,LastPolicyUpdateTime ,LastSyncAttemptTime ,LastSuccessSync , DeviceType , DeviceID, DeviceAccessState, Identity -a | Export-Csv c:\activesync.csv The problem is that the CSV data doesn't match the console display if I omit the trailing | c:\activesync.csv ... where the data and columns displayed don't match. Is this a bug in powershell?

  • 'Save as' dialogue box in Vista/Win7

    - by DrZaiusApeLord
Is there a way to get this box to list the local and network drives first instead of listing favorites and libraries first? I have a user who claims this is how this box was until fairly recently but I have not made any changes nor pushed out any big updates. Now that he mentions it, its starting to bug me too. Thanks.

  • How to limit the number of concurrent CGI script invocations in Apache 2.2?

    - by hsivonen
How can I limit the number of concurrent CGI invocations in Apache 2.2.x? More specifically, my problem is this: I have Apache hosting a Bugzilla instance and other stuff on one server. There's very little legitimate concurrent use of Bugzilla. However, it's trivial to mount a Denial of Service attack on the whole server by ignoring robots.txt and simply fetching a lot of bug pages that fork a process and hit a database.

  • Why do I get different openssl versions?

    - by CoCoMonk
I'm trying to check if I have the latest OpenSSL, my main concern in the heartbleed bug. I tried 2 commands: openssl version yum info openssl openssl version output OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips 11 Feb 2013 yum info openssl output Installed Packages Name : openssl Arch : x86_64 Version : 1.0.1e Release : 16.el6_5.14 ... I have a couple of questions: Why do I get different versions from these 2 commands? How do I check the heartbleed vulnerability without having the 443 port open?

  • How can I run the latest version of Chrome on Mac OS X?

    - by eagle
In a bug post I sent to the chrome developers, a developer sent me the message: We don't see this difference in the new builds of Chrome. Checked in 6.0.437.2 dev. Can you check and confirm again? I'm wondering how can I run the latest (development) version of Chrome for Mac OS X? Ideally I don't want to build the project.

  • Is my external hard drive dying?

    - by thatotherguy
I keep getting this error lately when I try to copy large (200+ MB) files over to my external. Following this, the disk becomes unresponsive and I got to unplug it and plug it in again to work. The copy process also is unreasonably slow. It is worth noting that this happens on Windows too, so it's not the notorious "Error -36" bug OS X had prior to 10.6.3. The disk is a Western Digital 3200BMV. Any ideas?

  • Enabling Squid delay pool eats up the entire memory

    - by Supratik
I am using "squid-3.1.8-1.el5" in my CentOS 5 32 bit system. In normal condition Squid uses 85m - 90m, but when I enable the delay pool parameters the memory usage suddenly rise up 2GB. The memory keeps on increasing until the system is out of resource. The following are my delay pool settings: delay_pools 1 delay_class 1 1 delay_access 1 allow all delay_parameters 1 192000/192000 Is there anything I am missing here or is it a bug with Squid ?

  • Songbird 4-pane filter panel library view

    - by wonea
I love Songbird but I was already whether it's possible add an additional column to the Songbird layout, I love categorising my music by dates as well, and find right clicking above the column header to change a little to messy and want even more flexibility. So here's my mockup of the 4-pane panel library, I think I've made Songbird do this by mistake in the past through a bug. Question is, is this possible?

  • Lightweight ad-blocker for firefox

    - by student
On a old machine (512 MB RAM) I am currently running ubuntu jaunty and firefox 3.0.15. I tried the ad blocker addon add block plus but it eats lots of RAM (300 MB). Is high memory load of this add-on a bug, which is fixed in a newer version or just normal? If so, why is the memory usage so high? Is there another ad blocker add-on for firefox or another browser- add-on combination for linux (ubuntu jaunty) which uses significant less RAM?
