    Hi, I've a window that will have an unknown amount of text fields, determined by the content of a remote server. In high level terms, how should I go about this? Create a custom view or create an empty window with a backing NSWindowController and then add stuff to it when the window is opened? I've seen the examples on the O'Reilly Cocoa book and those effectively create a custom NSView. Is this the right way to do it, 8 year later?

  • NSArrayController binding : Suppress "No selection"

    Hello, I have a texfield bound to an ArrayController. The controller key is "selection" because I select items from a NSTableView. But when there are no items in the table the textfield shows the gray text "no selection". How can I suppress this text and have just an empty textfield? Or how can I change the "No selection" text to something else?

  • Why does "request.getUserPrincipal().getName()" sometimes return a blank string?

    Has somebody an idea, why the getName method of the requests getUserPrincipal Method sometimes provides an empty String? Most of the time it returns the correct user name but not every time. This behaviour does occur randonmly. I can start the application, run the command and it works. The next time I start the application and run the command (exactly the same way as before!) it does not work... Any ideas?

    hi what i am trying to do is get all the collums of a table (the table can be empty) example of what i did before: SELECT COLUMN_NAME FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE table_name = 'aTable' AND table_schema = 'theDatabase' it works perfectly on localhost however on my provider it gives: #1142 - SELECT command denied to user 'username'@'localhost' for table 'COLUMNS' is there an alternative that doesn't use the INFORMATION_SCHEMA??

  • C++ Program Always Crashes While doing a std::string assign

    I have been trying to debug a crash in my application that crashes (i.e. asserts a * glibc detected free(): invalid pointer: 0x000000000070f0c0 **) while I'm trying to do a simple assign to a string. Note that I'm compiling on a linux system with gcc 4.2.4 with an optimization level set to -O2. With -O0 the application no longer crashes. E.g. std::string abc; abc = "testString"; but if I changed the code as follows it no longer crashes std::string abc("testString"); So again I scratched my head! But the interesting pattern was that the crash moved later on in the application, AGAIN at another string. I found it weird that the application was continuously crashing on a string assign. I even checked for ptr corruptions and came up empty handed. In addition to visual inspection of the code I also tried the following tools: Valgrind using both memcheck and exp-ptrcheck electric fence libsafe I compiled with -fstack-protector-all in gcc I tried MALLOC_CHECK_ set to 2 I ran my code through lint checks as well as cppcheck (to check for mistakes) And I stepped through the code using gdb So I tried a lot of stuff and still came up empty handed. So I was wondering if it could be something like a linker issue or a library issue of some sort that could be causing this problem. Are there any know issues with the std::string that make is susceptible to crashing in -O2 or maybe it has nothing to do with the optimization level? But the only pattern that I can see thus far in my problem is that it always seems to crash on a string and so I was wondering if anyone knew of any issues that my be causing this type of behavior.     I asked yesterday how I could update only the first column that was empty. I got this of a answer: UPDATE `names` SET `name_1` = CASE WHEN `name_1` = '' then 'Jimmy' else `name_1` end, `name_2` = CASE WHEN `name_1` != '' and `name_2` = '' then 'Jimmy' else `name_2` end I tried it and it ended up updating every column with 'Jimmy' what's wrong with this? I can't find anything. It could possibly be the structure of the database. I have a problem using a view to retrieve a document by key: curl http://127.0.0.1:5984/basic/_design/example/_view/by_date?key="2009/01/15 15:52:20" gives the reply: curl: (52) Empty reply from server but just retrieving all rows: curl http://127.0.0.1:5984/basic/_design/example/_view/by_date gives me 3 rows including the specific row I am looking for: {"id":"hello-world","key":"2009/01/15 15:52:20","value":"Hello World"} why doesn't the key query work?     Hi, I'm using version 2.7.0 of this WordPress plugin to display which users are currently online (the latest version doesn't work): http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-useronline/ It's working great but I would love to be able to alter it quickly to display the users' avatars instead of their names.     As we can execute such executables in two ways, such as "sudo mono test.exe", and "mono test.exe". Now I want to know how to detect whether this application is running as root inside the application itself. I tried to check user name like below and see whether they equal to "root", Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name Process.GetCurrentProcess().StartInfo.UserName AppDomain.CurrentDomain.ApplicationIdentity.FullName The first two are empty strings always, while the third throws NullReferenceException. Please advise if this is doable on Mono 2.6.

  • Creating a list in Python- something sneaky going on?

From testing in an interpreter, I can see that list() and [] both produce an empty list: >>> list() [] >>> [] [] From what I've learned so far, the only way to create an object is to call its constructor (__init__), but I don't see this happening when I just type []. So by executing [], is Python then mapping that to a call to list()?
