  • Is The Ease Of Windows Phone Development Ruining Its Image

    I was reading an article on Mashable recently by a long time iPhone user who is living solely on a Lumia 920 at the moment and giving her assessment.  One thing that struck a nerve with me was her describing the Windows Phone ecosystem as immature.  She wasn’t saying this because of the number of apps or the big names like most people do.  She means the quality of the apps in the store. This hit a nerve with me.  I find it hard to believe that the majority of app on iOS are of any higher quality than any other platform.  I believe in any ecosystem you are going to find some high end, high quality apps, but the majority by default will be from people who are trying to solve a problem but do not have the resources to have top graphics and full blown testing.  There will also be a large number that are just there trying to trick you into giving up some cash. Does any of the mean that we shouldn’t take notice of this complaint?  Of course not!  We should always strive to publish the best quality apps possible.  Don’t do things like leaving default app icons and backgrounds.  Put a little effort into your design.  You should also spend as much time as possible ensuring against crashes and giving the user the best experience possible.  Think through your apps organization and navigation.  Go the extra step of putting it into beta and letting select people use it and give you feedback before going to full release.     Im trying to make a program that captures a video from the webcam and sound from the microphone but im getting stuck at the part where ive try to make a movie out of still images ive heard you need to use directshow but it doesnt jet work for me Does someone know a good piece of example code that captures video and sound and can encode it to a file (divx or something like that) ? or some suggestions where to look so i can build it myself (if a other programming language is better for this im happy to know it early. )

    Hi, I am naive to Qt and GUI programming. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1357960/qt-jpg-image-display/2605463#2605463 The procedure given for displaying an image is working fine and thank you for providing that. But I want to display an image when I click on radiobutton. I created a slot, and I connected the button click event to the slot (dispImage is my slot). My slot consists only the code which is working to display an image (First answer in this link). I am able to compile it and run it. But the o/p is not as we desire. On button click, image windoe flashes for a sec and disappears. One more point to share is, I tried the same with windowsflags example present in qt examples. In this example I want to display the image on the preview window created by us. Even this is also not worked for me. Please provide me the solution. Thanks in advance.

    I am new to webpage design and MVC. I have a aspx page and I have a html image. I want to change this image and make it clickable so that it will refresh only the bottom half of the page when clicked. I setup my image so that the source of the image is updated by the controller. By using the following src="<%=ViewData["BookImg"] %>" So that the whole story is clear. When a person clicks on the image of the book, it displays on the bottom half of the page information about that book pulled from a sql database. I am thinking that I would need to look into getting ajax implemented so that I can do partial page update. But the question is how do I change that HTML image into a button.     Hi Everyone: I have an NSWindow that I want to go above the captured kCGDirectMainDisplay when a function is run and have the window go back to its normal level after the display is released. My code works for capturing the display, setting the window's level, and releasing the display, however once the display is released, the window floats above all other windows. I have included my method of doing this, in case I am doing something wrong.     I'm told to think about caching of images that will be displayed on the page. The images will be repeated throughout the website on different pages and I'm told to figure out the best way to cache these images. There could be few to dozen of images on single page. Here's few questions: Will browser caching work to display the same images across different web pages? Should I rather store images in stringified form in a memory instead, using JavaScript arrays? Store them on hard drive using 'localStorage'? What would be easiest yet best option for this? Are there any other alternatives? How to force cache? Any other information would be greatly appreciated...

    I'm having an issue on a HTML email in Word rendered Outlooks (2007, 2010, 2013) where I click an image link, and when the mouse is clicked, the image inverts... I have tried putting a text-decoration: none on the link. All the links are styled inline as well. This is the only image that it is having this issue on the email, so tried re-saving the image with no luck. The image is saved as a JPEG and SRGB from a Photoshop PSD. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Is it feasible to send marketing emails entirely as images - apart from a link at the top, giving the option for the recipient to view the email online (in their browser) and one at the footer to unsubscribe from our mailing list? Anyone who's coded a html email template before knows how much of a pain it is to end up with the final design that displays 'properly' (rarely does it display the same in all clients) and doesn't break. I understand there's the possibility of people simply ignoring the email altogether should their email clients be set not to automatically download images, but many of our email primarily feature images anyway. Thoughts?

My issue is that within th text I have malformed sequences: If the text doesn't start with a date, and end with a name my extraction fails. For example, the text above may have several mal formed sequences, such as: abcabcabcabc<2007-01-12><name1> Should be: <2007-01-12>abcabcabcabc<name1> Is it possible to have a regular expression that would clean the above, prior to extracting my consistent pattern. In short, i need to find all mal formed patterns, and then take the date tag and put it in front of it, as provided in the example above. Thanks.

    I'd like to start using clickstream analysis to improve a dynamic site's user experience. I'd like to rule out two options: parameterizing URLs (index.php?src=http://www.example.com) and immediate database logging. The former makes pretty ugly URLs and isn't great for SEO and the latter might slow down page render when there are lots of concurrent users. Assuming these aren't viable options, I think I'm left with doing an asynchronous POST to a server side script that runs a database query and returns a 204 (no data) response. Is this the best option for capturing clickstream data?

  • How does KMS (Windows Server 2008 R2) differentiate clients?

    I have recently installed a KMS Server in our domain and deployed 75 new Windows 7 machines using an image I made using Acronis True Image. There are 2 variations of this image rolled out currently. When I go to activate the machines it returns that the KMS count is not sufficient. On the server with a slmgr /dlv it shows: Key Management Service is enabled on this machine. Current count: 2 Listening on Port: 1688 DNS publishing enabled KMS Priority: Normal KMS cumulative requests received from clients: 366 Failed requests received: 2 Requests with License status unlicensed: 0 Requests with License status licensed: 0 Requests with License status Initial Grace period: 1 Requests with License statusLicense expired or hardware out of tolerance: 0 Requests with License status Non genuine grace period: 0 Requests with License status Notification: 363 Is it to do with the fact that I've used the same image for all the PC's? If so how do I get round this. Would changing the SID help? OK knowing I've been thick whats the best way to rectify the situation. Can I sysprep the machines to OOBE on each individual machine? Or would NewSID work?
