  • Conflict between some JavaScript and jQuery on same page

    - by hollyb
    I am using a JavaScript function and some jQuery to perform two actions on a page. The first is a simple JS function to hide/show divs and change the active state of a tab: This is the JS that show/hides divs and changes the active state on some tabs: var ids=new Array('section1','section2','section3'); function switchid(id, el){ hideallids(); showdiv(id); var li = el.parentNode.parentNode.childNodes[0]; while (li) { if (!li.tagName || li.tagName.toLowerCase() != "li") li = li.nextSibling; // skip the text node if (li) { li.className = ""; li = li.nextSibling; } } el.parentNode.className = "active"; } function hideallids(){ //loop through the array and hide each element by id for (var i=0;i<ids.length;i++){ hidediv(ids[i]); } } function hidediv(id) { //safe function to hide an element with a specified id document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'none'; } function showdiv(id) { //safe function to show an element with a specified id document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'block'; } The html: <ul> <li class="active"><a onclick="switchid('section1', this);return false;">ONE</a></li> <li><a onclick="switchid('section2', this);return false;">TWO</a></li> <li><a onclick="switchid('section3', this);return false;">THREE</a></li> </ul> <div id="section1" style="display:block;">TEST</div> <div id="section2" style="display:none;">TEST 2</div> <div id="section3" style="display:none;">TEST 3</div> Now the problem.... I've added the jQuery image gallery called galleria to one of the tabs. The gallery works great when it resides in the div that is intially set to display:block. However, when it is in one of the divs that is set to display: none; part of the gallery doesn't work when the div is toggled to be visible. Specifically, the following css ceases to be written (this is created by galleria jQuery): element.style { display:block; height:50px; margin-left:-17px; width:auto; } For the life of me, I can't figure out why the gallery fails when it's div is set to display: none. Since this declaration is overwritten when a tab is clicked (via the Javascript functions above), why would this cause a problem? As I mentioned, it works perfectly when it lives the in display: block; div. Any ideas? I don't expect anybody to be familiar with the jQuery galleria image gallery... but perhaps an idea of how one might repair this problem? Thanks!

  • Google Chrome Frame and Facebook Javascript SDK - Cannot login

    - by Giannis Savvakis
    On the example below i have an html page with the javascript code needed to login to facebook. On the i have the Google Chrome Frame meta tag that makes the page run with google chrome frame. If you open this page with any browser the finish() callback runs normally. If you open it with Google Chrome Frame it never fires. So this means that every Facebook App that tries to login to gather user data cannot login. This happens if the page is opened with google frame. But even if i remove the meta tag so that the page can open with IE8 the page opens again with google chrome frame because Facebook opens google chrome frame by default. So because this is a Facebook app that runs inside an inside facebook.com it is forced to open with Google Chrome Frame! SERIOUS BUG! I have seen other people reporting it, someone has made a test facebook app also here: http://apps.facebook.com/gcftest/ appID and channelUrl are dummy in the example below. <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml"> <head> <meta name="generator" content= "HTML Tidy for Linux/x86 (vers 11 February 2007), see www.w3.org" /> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate" /> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0" /> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=Edge,chrome=IE8" /> <title>Facebook Login</title> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ // Load the SDK Asynchronously (function(d){ var js, id = 'facebook-jssdk', ref = d.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) { return; } js = d.createElement('script'); js.id = id; js.async = true; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js"; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(js, ref); }(document)); var appID = '0000000000000'; var channelUrl = '//myhost/channel.html'; // Init the SDK upon load window.fbAsyncInit = function() { FB.init({ appId : appID, // App ID channelUrl : channelUrl, status : true, // check login status cookie : true, // enable cookies to allow the server to access the session xfbml : true // parse XFBML }); FB.Event.subscribe('auth.statusChange', function(response) { if(!response.authResponse) FB.login(finish, {scope: 'publish_actions,publish_stream'}); else finish(response); }); FB.getLoginStatus(finish); } function finish(response) { alert("Hello "+response.name); } //]]> </script> </head> <body> <h1>Facebook login</h1> <p>Do NOT close this window.</p> <p>please wait...</p> </body> </html>

  • Vertical text inside table headers using a JavaScript-based SVG library

    - by Oleg
    I use jqGrid with many columns containing boolean information, which are displayed as checkboxes inside the table (see http://www.ok-soft-gmbh.com/VerticalHeaders/TestFixedO.htm as an example). To display information more compactly I use vertical column headers. It works very well and works in jqGrid in all browsers (see my discussion with Tony Tomov in jqGrid forum http://www.trirand.com/blog/?page_id=393/feature-request/headers-with-vertical-orientation/), but in IE vertical text is blurred and doesn't look nice enough (open the link above in IE and you will see exactly what I mean). I was asked from users why the text displayed so strangely. So I'm thinking of using a JavaScript-based SVG library like SVG Web ( http://code.google.com/p/svgweb/ ) or Raphaël ( http://raphaeljs.com/ ). SVG is very powerful and it is difficult to find a good example. I need only to display vertical text (-90 grad, from the bottom up) and use if possible without working in mode of absolute positioning. So one more time my question: I need to have a possibility to display vertical text (-90 grad rotation) inside <td> elements of a table header. I want to use a JavaScript-based SVG library like SVG Web or Raphaël. The solution must support IE6. Does anybody have a good reference example which could help me do this? If somebody posts a whole solution of the problem I would be happy. To be exact here is my current solution: I define .rotate { -webkit-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Safari 3.1+, Chrome */ -moz-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Firefox 3.5+ */ -o-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Opera starting with 10.50 */ /* Internet Explorer: */ filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(rotation=3); /* IE6, IE7 */ -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.BasicImage(rotation=3)" /* IE8 */; } define RotateCheckboxColumnHeaders function var RotateCheckboxColumnHeaders = function (grid, headerHeight) { // we use grid as context (if one have more as one table on tnhe page) var trHead = $("thead:first tr", grid.hdiv); var cm = grid.getGridParam("colModel"); $("thead:first tr th").height(headerHeight); headerHeight = $("thead:first tr th").height(); for (var iCol = 0; iCol < cm.length; iCol++) { var cmi = cm[iCol]; if (cmi.formatter === 'checkbox') { // we must set width of column header div BEFOR adding class "rotate" to // prevent text cutting based on the current column width var headDiv = $("th:eq(" + iCol + ") div", trHead); headDiv.width(headerHeight).addClass("rotate"); if (!$.browser.msie) { if ($.browser.mozilla) { headDiv.css("left", (cmi.width - headerHeight) / 2 + 3).css("bottom", 7); } else { headDiv.css("left", (cmi.width - headerHeight) / 2); } } else { var ieVer = jQuery.browser.version.substr(0, 3); // Internet Explorer if (ieVer !== "6.0" && ieVer !== "7.0") { headDiv.css("left", cmi.width / 2 - 4).css("bottom", headerHeight / 2); $("span", headDiv).css("left", 0); } else { headDiv.css("left", 3); } } } } }; And include a call like RotateCheckboxColumnHeaders(grid, 110); after creating jqGrid.

    - by DoMx
    Hello stackoverflow! I have been doing some google research and have found some online deciphers for Hex yet they all seem to struggle decrypting the code. I basically need to decipher this code, change some variables and repack it exactly how I found it but replacing a URL. How can I go about this? Are there any free online tools available? Many thanks.

  • Sending Javascript variables.

    - by shinjuo
    I have a page that allows a user to choose some things in a form and it will calculate the weight using javascript. It breaks it up into 5 variables that I need to send to another page. Originally I was just having it put the variable into a text box and then I was posting that text box. However I dont want to have 5 text boxes. So now I need to somehow send or post the five variables to another page. Here is my javascript function. I need to post weightBoxOne - weightBoxFive js function function getWeight(){ var weightBoxOne; var weightBoxTwo; var totalWeight; var box = .5; var quantity = document.dhform.quantity.value; var cardSize = document.dhform.cardSize.value; if(cardSize == 0.0141){ if(quantity <= 1000){ weightBoxOne = (quantity * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne; }else if(quantity > 1000 && quantity <= 2000){ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = ((quantity - 1000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo; }else if(quantity > 2000 && quantity <= 3000){ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxThree = ((quantity - 2000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo + weightBoxThree; }else if(quantity > 3000 && quantity <= 4000){ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxThree = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxFour = ((quantity - 3000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo + weightBoxThree + weightBoxFour; }else{ weightBoxOne = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxThree = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxFour = (1000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxFive = ((quantity - 4000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo + weightBoxThree + weightBoxFour + weightBoxFive; } }else if(cardSize == 0.00949){ if(quantity <= 4000){ weightBoxOne = (quantity * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne; }else{ weightBoxOne = (4000 * cardSize) + box; weightBoxTwo = ((quantity - 4000) * cardSize) + box; totalWeight = weightBoxOne + weightBoxTwo; } } document.rates.weight.value = totalWeight; } //--> this is the form that was originally posting <form action="getRates.php" name="rates" method="post" onSubmit="popupform(this, 'join')"> <table style="width: 216px"> <tr> <td style="width: 115px; height: 49px;"><span class="style16">Weight</span><br/> <input type="text" id="weight" name="weight" size="10" maxlength="4"/> </td> <td align="right" style="width: 68px; height: 49px;" valign="top"><span class="style16">Zip Code</span><br/> <input type="text" id="zip" name="zip" size="10" maxlength="5"/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 115px"> <input name="submit" type="submit" value="Get Rate Costs" style="width: 138px" />

  • How to optimize this javascript code?

    - by Andrija
    I have a jsp which uses a lot of javascript and it's just not fast enough. I would like to optimize it so first, here's a part of the code: In the jsp I have the initialization: window.onload = function () { formCollection.pageSize.value = "<%= pagingSize%>"; elemCollection = iDom3.Table.all["spis"].XML.DOM; <% if (resultList != null) { %> elementsNumber = <%= resultList.size() %>; <%} else { %> elementsNumber = 0; <% } %> contextPath = "<%= request.getContextPath() %>"; } In my js file I have two types of js functions: // gets the first element and sets it's value to all the other; //the selectSingleNode function is used because I use XSLT transformation //to generate the table _setTehJed = function(){ var resultId = formCollection.elements["idTehJedinice_spis_1"].value; var resultText = formCollection.elements["tehnicka_spis_1"].value; if (resultId != ""){ var counter = 1; while (counter<elementsNumber){ counter++; if(formCollection.elements["idTehJedinice_spis_"+counter] != null){ formCollection.elements["idTehJedinice_spis_"+counter].value=resultId; formCollection.elements["tehnicka_spis_"+counter].value=resultText; } var node=elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+counter+"']/data[@col = 'tehnicka']/title"); node.text=resultText; var node2=elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+counter+"']/data[@col = 'idTehJedinice']/title"); node2.text=resultId; } } } // sets the elements checkbox to checked or unchecked _SelectCheckRokCuvanja = { all : [], Item : function (oItem, sId) { this.all["spis_"+sId] = oItem.value; if (oItem.checked) { elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+sId+"']/data[@col = 'rokCheck']").setAttribute("default", "true"); }else{ elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+sId+"']/data[@col = 'rokCheck']").setAttribute("default", "false"); } } } I've used these tips: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2006/08/28/728654.aspx http://code.google.com/speed/articles/optimizing-javascript.html but I still think something could be done like defining the functions like this: In the jsp: window.onload = function () { iDom3.DigitalnaArhivaPrihvat.formCollection=document.forms["controller"]; iDom3.DigitalnaArhivaPrihvat.formCollection.pageSize.value = "<%= pagingSize%>"; iDom3.DigitalnaArhivaPrihvat.elemCollection = iDom3.Table.all["spis"].XML.DOM; <% if (resultList != null) { %> iDom3.DigitalnaArhivaPrihvat.elementsNumber = <%= resultList.size() %> <%} else { %> iDom3.DigitalnaArhivaPrihvat.elementsNumber = 0; <% } %> } in the js: iDom3.DigitalnaArhivaPrihvat = { formCollection:null, elemCollection:null, elementsNumber:null, _setTehJed : function(){ var resultId = this.formCollection.elements.idTehJedinice_spis_1.value; var resultText = this.formCollection.elements.tehnicka_spis_1.value; if (resultId != ""){ var counter = 1; while (counter<this.elementsNumber){ counter++; if(this.formCollection.elements["idTehJedinice_spis_"+counter] !== null){ this.formCollection.elements["idTehJedinice_spis_"+counter].value=resultId; this.formCollection.elements["tehnicka_spis_"+counter].value=resultText; } var node=this.elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+counter+"']/data[@col = 'tehnicka']/title"); node.text=resultText; var node2=this.elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+counter+"']/data[@col = 'idTehJedinice']/title"); node2.text=resultId; } } }, _SelectCheckRokCuvanja = { all : [], Item : function (oItem, sId) { this.all["spis_"+sId] = oItem.value; if (oItem.checked) { this.elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+sId+"']/data[@col = 'rokCheck']").setAttribute("default", "true"); }else{ this.elemCollection.selectSingleNode("/suite/table/rows/row[@id = 'spis_"+sId+"']/data[@col = 'rokCheck']").setAttribute("default", "false"); } } } but the problem is scoping (if I do it like this, the second function does not execute properly). Any suggestions?

  • Generate SVG in Javascript

    - by Shadowbob
    I'm trying to load a SVG with Javascript. I did it quite often with success, but this time it has a strange return. Here is my JS var xmlns = 'http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'; var container = document.getElementById('svgContainer'); var svg = document.createElementNS(xmlns, 'svg'); svg.setAttribute('xmlns', xmlns); svg.setAttribute('version', '1.2'); var defs = document.createElementNS(xmlns, 'defs'); var lg = document.createElementNS(xmlns, 'linearGradient'); lg.setAttribute('id', 'lg'); defs.appendChild(lg); var stop1 = document.createElementNS(xmlns, 'stop'); stop1.setAttribute('offset', '0'); stop1.setAttribute('style', 'stop-color:#ffffff;stop-opacity:1'); lg.appendChild(stop1); var stop2 = document.createElementNS(xmlns, 'stop'); stop2.setAttribute('offset', '1'); stop2.setAttribute('style', 'stop-color:#000000;stop-opacity:1'); lg.appendChild(stop2); var rg = document.createElementNS(xmlns, 'radialGradient'); rg.setAttribute('cx', '171.20810'); rg.setAttribute('cy', '196.85463'); rg.setAttribute('r', '200.00000'); rg.setAttribute('fx', '171.20810'); rg.setAttribute('fy', '196.85463'); rg.setAttribute('id', 'rg'); rg.setAttribute('xlink:href', '#lg'); rg.setAttribute('gradientUnits', 'userSpaceOnUse'); rg.setAttribute('gradientTransform', 'matrix(1.040418,0.796229,-0.814518,1.064316,153.4218,-150.4353)'); defs.appendChild(rg); svg.appendChild(defs); var g = document.createElementNS (xmlns, 'g'); g.setAttribute('transform', 'scale(0.2,0.2)'); svg.appendChild(g); container.appendChild(svg); var path = document.createElementNS (xmlns, 'path'); path.setAttribute('d', 'M 450.00000 255.00000 A 200.00000 205.00000 0 1 1 50.000000,255.00000 A 200.00000 205.00000 0 1 1 450.00000 255.00000 z'); path.setAttribute('style', 'opacity:1.0000000;fill:url(#rg);fill-opacity:1.0000000;fill-rule:evenodd;stroke:none;stroke-width:8.0000000;stroke-linecap:round;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:4;stroke-dasharray:none;stroke-dashoffset:0;stroke-opacity:1'); g.appendChild(path); So it generates the perfect HTML DOM elements in the proper order, but it doesn't show anything. When I copy the HTML from the source and paste it, it renders the HTML but not the Javascript, but it's the exact same code. You can see the source here. The weird thing is that when I put the radialGradient in the DOM, it works. You can see it in here. So how should I do this? This problem is on all browsers. Thank you for your help.

  • Ajax Calendar Date Range with JavaScript

    - by hungrycoder
    I have the following code to compare two dates with the following conditions Scenario: On load there are two text boxes (FromDate, ToDate) with Ajax calendar extenders. • Javascript/Jquery Super Scrollorama Navigation Issues

    - by Rosencruez
    On a Wordpress site I am currently working on, my client wanted the different sections of the front page to slide up from the bottom and cover up the previous section, like a wipe or slide transition. Using super scrollorama found here: http://johnpolacek.github.com/superscrollorama/, I managed to achieve the desired result. Next, I needed to create a navigation menu on the front page only. I did so, and set anchors at various different points on the pages. I also used the scrollTo library for scolling animations when I click the nav menu links. However, there are a number of problems I have encountered: When at the top and I click "showcase", it brings me down to the showcase section, but the products section (the div right after it) is overlapping it. Other divs seems to have the same problem of the following divs overlapping the current one I can only navigate forwards. When I try to go backwards, it won't (except for "Home") I thought it might have something to do with the CSS "top" property of the divs, so I tried resetting them every time the click function kicked in, but it didn't work. So I removed it for the time being. Currently set the javascript to prevent the default action of scrolling to the anchors and instead setting it to scroll to the actual divs themselves. However, I'm still having the same issues. Here is the site I am currently working on: http://breathe.simalam.ca/ Here is the javascript for the scrolling: $(document).ready(function() { jQuery('.home-link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); jQuery(window).scrollTo(0, 1000, {queue:true}); }); jQuery('.showcase-link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); jQuery(window).scrollTo('#showcase_content', 1000, {queue:true}); }); jQuery('.products-link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); jQuery(window).scrollTo('#products_content', 1000, {queue:true}); }); jQuery('.about-link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); jQuery(window).scrollTo('#about_content', 1000, {queue:true}); }); jQuery('.locator-link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); jQuery(window).scrollTo('#locator_content', 1000, {queue:true}); }); jQuery('.contact-link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); jQuery(window).scrollTo('#contact_content', 1000, {queue:true}); }); }); scrollorama code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#wrapper').css('display','block'); var controller = $.superscrollorama(); var pinDur = 4000; /* set duration of pin scroll in pixels */ // create animation timeline for pinned element var pinAnimations = new TimelineLite(); pinAnimations .append([ TweenMax.to($('#showcase'), .5, {css:{top:0}}) ], .5) .append([ TweenMax.to($('#products'), .5, {css:{top:0}}) ], .5) .append([ TweenMax.to($('#about'), .5, {css:{top:0}}) ], .5) .append([ TweenMax.to($('#locator'), .5, {css:{top:0}}) ], .5) .append([ TweenMax.to($('#contact'), .5, {css:{top:0}}) ], .5) .append(TweenMax.to($('#pin-frame-unpin'), .5, {css:{top:'100px'}})); controller.pin($('#examples-pin'), pinDur, { anim:pinAnimations, onPin: function() { $('#examples-pin').css('height','100%'); }, onUnpin: function() { $('#examples-pin').css('height','2000px'); } }); }); All of the section divs are inside a parent div. The section divs all have a height, width, and top of 100%. The parent div containing all of these section divs are as follows: #examples-pin { position: relative; /* relative positioning for transitions to work? */ width: 101%; /* max width */ height: 2000px; /* height of 2000px for now */ overflow: hidden; /* hide the overflow for transitions to work */ margin-bottom: -200px; /* negative bottom margin */ }

  • Javascript auto calculating

    - by Josh
    I have page that automatically calculates a Total by entering digits into the fields or pressing the Plus or Minus buttons. I need to add a second input after the Total that automatically divides the total by 25. • Can I create a variable with JavaScript that PHP can recognize?

    I have a series of PHP statements that I only want to run if javaScript is enabled. if($js_enabled == 'yes') { //Run a series of PHP statements } My problem is that I want to create that $js_enabled variable with javaScript. Therefore, if javaScript is enabled, the variable will be created and the PHP statements will be run, but if javaScript is not enabled, the variable will never be created and the PHP statements will not run. How can I create a variable with JavaScript that PHP can recognize?

  • IE8 Jquery Javascript "Error: Object required" Bug

    - by thechrisvoth
    IE8 throws an "Error: Object required" message (error in the actual jquery library script, not my javascript file) when the switch statement in this function runs. This code works in IE6, IE7, FF3, and Safari... Any ideas? Does it have something to do with the '$(this)' selector in the switch? Thanks! function totshirts(){ $('.shirt-totals input').val('0'); var cxs = 0; var cs = 0; var cm = 0; $.each($('select.size'), function() { switch($(this).val()){ case "cxs": cxs ++; $('input[name="cxs"]').val(cxs); break; case "cs": cs ++; $('input[name="cs"]').val(cs); break; case "cm": cm ++; $('input[name="cm"]').val(cm); break; } }); }

  • Deleting blog post using Blogger API, Javascript and Prototype

    - by Mikhail
    Hello, everyone! I'm trying to delete a blog post on blogger.com using Blogger API via Prototype Javascript library. Here's my code: var request = new Ajax.Request( 'http://www.blogger.com/feeds/'+remoteBlogId+'/posts/default/'+postId { method:'DELETE', requestHeaders:['Authorization', 'GoogleLogin auth='+authKey], on200:function(){/*onSuccess*/}, onFailure:function(){/*onFailure*/} } ); As far as I can see from API description, everything's alright, but when I run this, it fires onSuccess function, but doesn't delete the entry on the server. I guess that Prototype doesn't work well with HTTP methods other than GET and POST (here's the ticket describing similar problem though proposed patch didn't work for me) Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance, Mikhail.

  • Which Devices Support Javascript Geolocation via navigator.geolocation ?

    - by Maciek
    The iPhone supports geolocation in mobile Safari via the following call: navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition( function(pos){ var lat = pos.coords.latitude; var long = pos.coords.longitude; }, function(){ /* Handler if location could not be found */ } ); I'd like to build a good list of devices that have one of the following: support this feature out of the box, or support this feature with an upgrade, or support geolocation with equivalent fidelity of data with some other snippet of Javascript. I'm only familiar with my own device, so this is my list so far: Out of the box: iPhone 3GS Supported, but only with an update iPhone 3G iPhone 2G (?) PC or Mac computer with Firefox 3.5 Supported with some other snippet ? What is the level of support in Blackberry, Android phones, etc?

  • How to find (in javascript) the current "scroll" offset in mobile safari / iphone

    - by mintywalker
    I'd like to know the x/y offset of the how far the user has "scrolled" within the viewport in mobile safari on the iphone. Put another way, if I (through javascript) reloaded the current page, I'd like to find the values I'd need to pass into window.scrollTo(...) in order to reposition the document/viewport as it is currently. window.pageXOffset always reports 0 jquery's $('body').scrollTop() always reports 0 events have a pageX, but this won't account for the scrolling of the page that happens after you release your finger if your gesture was to "flick" the page up/down. Namely, it'll give me a point when the finger leaves the screen, but that doesn't always match where the page will be after it's finished scrolling. Any pointers?

  • Remove favicon using javascript in Google Chrome

    - by Cyclone
    How can you remove the favicon using Javascript in google chrome? The goal is to return it to the browser default, which is in this case a blank image. I found this question, but it doesn't work if you leave the link.href attribute as empty. Even if the favicon is set because there is a favicon.ico file on the server, I'd like to remove it and set it back to the default. This only needs to work in chrome. Thanks!

  • Get IFrame parent url or referrer using javascript or php

    - by Pawel
    I am creating a widget that would load in a IFrame and users will be able to place the widget on their own website. How would I get the URL of the website that is using the IFrame in javascript and/or PHP? The IFrame loads a php file. I have tried "parent.top.location.href" and "parent.document.referrer" in the IFrame page but that is undefined. I have also tried to echo "$_Server[referrer]" in the IFrame page and that did return the IFrame parent URL, but how easy is it for someone to manipulate the referrer variable? I dont want to get misleading information.

  • JavaScript tree / treegrid libraries

    - by desau
    I'm looking for a good JavaScript tree / treegrid package. Now -- before you answer: It needs to be able to perform well with lots of nodes. Perhaps 1,000 sibling nodes. It needs to be able to draw to a usable state within 2 or 3 seconds with 1,000 nodes. It doesn't necessarily need to draw all 1,000 nodes at once -- if it supports some sort of "smart rendering" or fake scrolling. Beyond that, column resizing, drag and drop, inline editing would all be nice, although I could probably add that functionality myself. I've already tried dojo's tree and yahoo's YUI treeview. Both are too slow.

  • JavaScript - string regex backreferences

    - by quano
    You can backreference like this in JavaScript: var str = "123 $test 123"; str = str.replace(/(\$)([a-z]+)/gi, "$2"); This would (quite silly) replace "$test" with "test". But imagine I'd like to pass the resulting string of $2 into a function, which returns another value. I tried doing this, but instead of getting the string "test", I get "$2". Is there a way to achieve this? // Instead of getting "$2" passed into somefunc, I want "test" // (i.e. the result of the regex) str = str.replace(/(\$)([a-z]+)/gi, somefunc("$2"));

  • Override Javascript Function Based on Passed Parameters

    - by George
    Is it possible to override a function based on the number of parameters that you are passing into it? For instance: function abc(name) { document.write ('My name is' + name); } function abc(name,friend) { document.write ('My name is' + name + 'and my best friend\'s name is' + friend); } So in the HTML if I just called abc(george) it would use the first version of the function, but if I called abc(george,john) it would use the second version. There may be other ways to accomplish the example I used, but I'm just wondering if the concept is sound in javascript.
