  • Scene or Activity Animation

    - by Siddharth
My game require an animation when one activity finishes and next started because I have develop game with multiple activity not as multiple scene per game. I have to show animation at the time of activity creation and activity destroy. I have trying to create basic animation that was supported by android. And all that xml file I have to post it into the anim folder but the loading of resource was so much high so any type of animation I provide using android method does not work for me it look weird. If scene class has some functionality for animation that please know me then I try to load different type of animation using scene. I have not create multiple scene because I have no awareness about how to manage multiple scene in andengine though I have a working experience of 8 months in andengine. So this help also provide me a great help. Basically I want to create animation like one activity slide out at the same time the other activity slide in. So at a time user can see the transition of activity. Thanks in advance.

  • Port flash game to native android

    - by wirate
Alright here is the problem: the creators of a quite popular flash-based game have asked me to port their game to Android. They are not interested in any other platforms so we don't need to be worrying about iOS or PC. They want the best performance on just Android (I guess that's the point of porting a flash-based game. They could have just went with it) They found Unity 'slow'. How would the performance (on android) of other engines compare? Are they expecting too much i.e. finding Unity slow? I am in favor of Unity since development is a little easier with more things being visual (I am not experienced as you might have guessed). This would be an example of the type of game I am to port Thanks!

  • How to get the level and position of the player from an extern program? [on hold]

    - by user3727174
I want to write a program that needs the current level and position of the player (primary single player). This should work for potentially every game installed and running on the computer my program is running on. The data I need is basically one integer value for the level (if there are any) and three integer values for x, y and optimal z for the position of the player. In which relation/scale or where the null point is does not matter, because this information is going to be interpreted game dependent, I will use this information to read information out of a database created for the game currently running. Currently I'm using C++, but if there is a better option for Java I´m willing to port my program. My thoughs so far are: make a mod for every game that should be supported, get the position/level from there, write this information to the disk and read it from my program tracking mouse/keyboard events and reconstructing the movement won't work Are there any general APIs for something like this? Any Tool to find this data? Or maybe engines that provide APIs to get this data directly from the game?

  • How to get MMF2 or similar program

    - by Feldpausch All4
I took a Game Design class a while ago that used Multimedia Fusion 2. Now I would like to get it on my computer, but I don't have the disk anymore. I have access to the program on my Dad's computer, but I want to get it on mine. Is there a way to get MMF2 for free on my computer? If not, are there any other free game design programs like MMF2 (knowing code is not necessary)? Edit: If I paid the $50 to upgrade to 2.5, could I put it on a second computer, or is that not possible?

  • Why can't I set a layout for a page in a QStackedWidget in designer?

    - by cppguy
Steps to reproduce in designer for Qt 4.8.0 I create a new dialog form in Qt Designer I add a QStackedWidget to the dialog I set the layout of the dialog to make the stacked layout size with the dialog I add a few controls to page one in the stacked widget I select the first page in the stacked widget in the right hand tree view of controls The icon next to that page (which is a QWidget) shows the page is missing a layout When I click one of the layout buttons above, it doesn't change the layout of the page QWidget, it changes the layout of the dialog even though I had explicitly selected the page. Is this a bug in designer? Am I missing something? I really don't want to add the layouts programatically as that prevents me from being able to layout the pages in designer in the same .ui file

  • List of LangID KLID input layouts codes for Windows 7/2008

    - by alfa
There is one similar list for Windows XP/2003 here. Is anybody aware of a version of such list for Windows 2008/7 mentioning valid input locale ID strings for all languages and keyboard layouts? NOTE1: If you are interested to know, I am going to use that ID in the scripts such as this one and the last example in this page NOTE2: In this page, it shows the format of language id as used by the input.dll exported method named SetDefaultLayoutOrTip (Which is probably used by the regarded script engine)

  • Listview Row Overlap Problem

    - by rgrandy
    I just updated my app and I am getting some odd complaints from people who update it. I am only getting complaints from people with non-stock android phones (phones that manufacturers have modified...HTC phones, cliq, pulse, etc), other phones like the Droid, Nexus work fine. My app (Photo Frame Deluxe) has a list in it with a Image View, Text View, View (spacer) and checkbox, all in a row. What happens on the affected phones is that the rows start overlapping and it cuts the top half of everything off. My layout code for this is below, I am pulling my hair out on this, what might I have wrong in this layout. Why does this work on some phones and not on others? Any help would be appreciated. Row Layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/photorowIcon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:paddingTop="10dp" android:paddingBottom="10dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/photorowText" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" /> <View android:layout_width="0px" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1"/> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/photorowCheckBox" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical" android:focusable="false" android:focusableInTouchMode="false" /> </LinearLayout> Layout Row is inserted in: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:background="@drawable/title1_gradient" android:orientation="vertical"> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Select Photos to Display:" android:textSize="20sp" android:textStyle="bold" android:textColor="#FFFFFFFF" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:paddingTop="5dp" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/folderName" android:textSize="15sp" android:textStyle="bold" android:textColor="#FFFFFFFF" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:paddingBottom="5dp" /> <View android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="1px" android:background="#406C6C6C"/> </LinearLayout> <ListView android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="0px" android:layout_weight="1" android:drawSelectorOnTop="false" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:paddingRight="5dp" /> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_gravity="bottom"> <LinearLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_gravity="bottom" android:background="#FF6C6C6C" android:padding="5dp"> <Button android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/ok" android:text="OK"/> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout>

  • [android] How to center buttons on screen horizontally and vertically plus equidistant apart?

    - by marc
I've been racking my brain (android newbie here, so not hard to do) for awhile trying to figure out how to accomplish this: Desired Layout using a RelativeLayout or something other than AbsoluteLayout which is what this was created with. I'm coming from a Windows programming background where the device adjusts the 'absolute' positioning for you and GUI layout was a non-issue. The first layout works great in the emulator, but doesn't format for my Nexus One or any other screen that differs from the emulator size. I expected this because it's absolutely positioned, but haven't found a solution that will format correctly for different screen sizes. My goal is to have the layout work for different screen sizes and in portrait / landscape. Here's the Code that I'm currently using: [main.xml] <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <AbsoluteLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <Button android:id="@+id/Button01" android:layout_width="188px" android:layout_height="100px" android:text="A" android:layout_y="50px" android:layout_x="65px" android:textSize="48sp"/> <Button android:id="@+id/Button02" android:layout_width="188px" android:layout_height="100px" android:text="B" android:layout_y="175px" android:layout_x="65px" android:textSize="48sp"/> <Button android:id="@+id/Button03" android:layout_width="188px" android:layout_height="100px" android:text="C" android:layout_y="300px" android:layout_x="65px" android:textSize="48sp"/> </AbsoluteLayout> Using tidbits from other questions here, I came up with this, it’s closer, but not there yet. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout android:gravity="center" android:id="@+id/widget49" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <Button android:id="@+id/Button01" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="A" android:textSize="48sp"/> <Button android:id="@+id/Button02" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="B" android:textSize="48sp"/> <Button android:id="@+id/Button03" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="C" android:textSize="48sp"/> </TableLayout> Here’s a picture of the TableLayout: Another Attempt Any help / guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Website column width

    - by keks
Hi, I am interested what column widths you would suggest for two-column and three-column websites. For example if we consider two-column layout (total width 1000px), some possible widths would be: 900-100, 800-200, 750-250, 700-300, 600-400. Which layout is best for usability, possible ad placements, widget integration?

  • JPanel components paint-time problem

    - by Tom Brito
I'm having a problem that when my frame is shown (after a login dialog) the buttons are not on correct position, then in some miliseconds they go to the right position (the center of the panel with border layout). When I make a SSCCE, it works correct, but when I run my whole code I have this fast-miliseconds delay to the buttons to go to the correct place. Unfortunately, I can't post the whole code, but the method that shows the frame is: public void login(JComponent userView) { centerPanel.removeAll(); centerPanel.add(userView); centerPanel.revalidate(); centerPanel.repaint(); frame.setVisible(true); } What would cause this delay to the panel layout? (I'm running everything in the EDT) -- update In my machine, this SSCCE shows the layout problem in 2 of 10 times I run it: import java.awt.BorderLayout; import javax.swing.JButton; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.SwingUtilities; public class TEST { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { System.out.println("Debug test..."); JPanel btnPnl = new JPanel(); btnPnl.add(new JButton("TEST")); JFrame f = new JFrame("TEST"); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout()); f.getContentPane().add(btnPnl); f.pack(); f.setSize(800, 600); f.setVisible(true); System.out.println("End debug test!"); } }); } } The button first appers in the up-left, and then it goes to the center. Please, note that I'm understand, not just correct. Is it a java bug? --update OK, so the SSCCE don't show the problem with you that tried till now. Maybe it's my computer performance problem. But this don't answer the question, I still think Java Swing is creating new threads for make the layout behind the scenes.

  • LinearLayout as custom button, OnClickListener never called

    - by ohra
I've been using the common Android Button with both icon (drawableTop) and text. It works really poorly if you want to have a non-standard size button, so I decided to make a custom button with a LinearLayout having the following layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" style="@style/ButtonHoloDark" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:gravity="center" android:clickable="true" android:focusable="true" android:orientation="vertical" > <ImageView android:id="@+id/buttonIcon" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:duplicateParentState="true" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/buttonText" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:duplicateParentState="true" android:gravity="center" android:textColor="@color/white" /> </LinearLayout> The layout is used by a custom class: public class CustomIconButton extends LinearLayout { public CustomIconButton(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); setAttributes(context, attrs); LayoutInflater.from(context).inflate(R.layout.custom_icon_button, this, true); } ... But when I set an OnClickListener on my button in its parent layout it never gets called. I can only receive clicks if a set the listener to the ImageView and/or TextView. This leads to two possible effects when the button is clicked: The click is inside the ImageView or the TextView. The click is registered ok, but the buttons state drawable doesn't change i.e. it doesn't appear depressed. The click is inside the "empty area" of the button. The click is not registered, but the state drawable works ok. Neither of these is feasible. I've played around with the following attributes on the LinearLayout or its children, but none really seem to have any effect whether true or false: duplicateParentState clickable focusable There doesn't seem to be any reasonable way to get the LinearLayout parent receive clicks instead of its children. I've seen some possible solutions overriding dispatchTouchEvent or onInterceptTouchEvent on the custom component itself, but that really seems like a big mess if I have to start analyzing touch events to identify proper clicks. So OnClickListener on a LinearLayout with children = no go?

  • How to handle different screen resolution /screen size when developing a site ?

    - by Misha Moroshko
I would like to develop a site using jQuery that will work with all major browsers. I thought to start with a basic layout (a header, a couple of tabs with content, and footer). I wonder how should I create this layout to support different screen resolution, screen size, or window size. Should I work in pixels / points / percents when defining width and height of the components ? Are there any jQuery plugins that can help me with this task ? Thanks !

  • Dismissable banner in Android

    - by hgpc
I would like to show a banner in an Android activity. The banner should be: Aligned at the bottom of the layout Take all the width and have relative height (say 100dip) Be dismissable When dismissed the rest of the layout should strech to fill the area that was occupied by the banner. What's the best way to implement this in Android? Thanks!

  • ListAdapter --> How apply convert view changes to specific view item only?

    - by user1847544
I am trying to get have the lower part of list view slide down, by hiding an unhiding linear layout in list_item. The problem is the view seems to get reused in LayoutAdapter so that the change does not just effect the view I intended to apply it to. Instead it shows up wherever the view is reused. How can I restrict the drop down to just the view on which I requested the dropdown? By drop down I mean unhide the linear layout.

  • Hidden UIView Orientation Change / Layout problems

    - by gargantaun
The Problem: I have two View Controllers loaded into a root View Controller. Both sub view layouts respond to orientation changes. I switch between the two views using [UIView transformationFromView:...]. Both sub views work fine on their own, but if... Views are swapped Orientation Changes Views are swapped again the View that was previously hidden has serious layout problems. The more I repeat these steps the worse the problem gets. Implementation Details I have three viewsControllers. MyAppViewController A_ViewController B_ViewController A & B ViewControllers have a background image each, and a UIWebView and an AQGridView respectively. To give you an example of how i'm setting it all up, here's the loadView method for A_ViewController... - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; // background image // Should fill the screen and resize on orientation changes UIImageView *bg = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; bg.contentMode = UIViewContentModeCenter; bg.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; bg.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"fuzzyhalo.png"]; [self.view addSubview:bg]; // frame for webView // Should have a margin of 34 on all sides and resize on orientation changes CGRect webFrame = self.view.bounds; webFrame.origin.x = 34; webFrame.origin.y = 34; webFrame.size.width = webFrame.size.width - 68; webFrame.size.height = webFrame.size.height - 68; projectView = [[UIWebView alloc] initWithFrame:webFrame]; projectView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; [self.view addSubview:projectView]; } For the sake of brevity, the AQGridView in B_ViewController is set up pretty much the same way. Now both these views work fine on their own. However, I use both of them in the AppViewController like this... - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; self.view.autoresizesSubviews = YES; [self setWantsFullScreenLayout:YES]; webView = [[WebProjectViewController alloc] init]; [self.view addSubview:webView.view]; mainMenu = [[GridViewController alloc] init]; [self.view addSubview:mainMenu.view]; activeView = mainMenu; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(switchViews:) name:SWAPVIEWS object:nil]; } and I switch betweem the two views using my own switchView method like this - (void) switchViews:(NSNotification*)aNotification; { NSString *type = [aNotification object]; if ([type isEqualToString:MAINMENU]){ [UIView transitionFromView:activeView.view toView:mainMenu.view duration:0.75 options:UIViewAnimationOptionTransitionFlipFromRight completion:nil]; activeView = mainMenu; } if ([type isEqualToString:WEBVIEW]) { [UIView transitionFromView:activeView.view toView:webView.view duration:0.75 options:UIViewAnimationOptionTransitionFlipFromLeft completion:nil]; activeView = webView; } // These don't seem to do anything //[mainMenu.view setNeedsLayout]; //[webView.view setNeedsLayout]; } I'm fumbling my way through this, and I suspect a lot of what i've done is implemented incorrectly so please feel free to point out anything that should be done differently, I need the input. But my primary concern is to understand what's causing the layout problems. Here's two images which illustrate the nature of the layout issues... UPDATE: I just noticed that when the orientation is landscape, the transition flips vertically, when I would expect it to be horizontal. I don't know wether that's a clue as to what might be going wrong. Switch to the other view... change orientation.... switch back....

  • What Ruby blog engines are there?

    - by Damian Nowak
What blog engines written in Ruby do you know? Let's create a list of all Ruby blog engines as a community wiki. I kindly ask to include the following in your answers: blog engine name link to official website link to screenshots or live demo gem install gem-name (if there is one) features, for example: has plugin engine? has themes? has administration panel? anything worth mentioning Not an endorsement, just report the facts. This will make the answers very helpful to visitors. :-) Please mark your answer as a community wiki so that anyone is able to refine the description, add links, etc. It seems noone asked the question before. Found some which aren't the thing I'm really asking for. • Zend framework controller action helper

    - by guptanikhilchandra
    I am getting fatal error after adding the action helper class. I am trying to load layout corresponding to called layout. Following is my code snippet: First of all i added a helper class under application/controller/helpers: class Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Layout extends Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Abstract { public $pluginLoader; public function __construct() { // TODO Auto-generated Constructor $this->pluginLoader = new Zend_Loader_PluginLoader (); } public function preDispatch() { $bootstrap = $this->getActionController()->getInvokeArg('bootstrap'); $config = $bootstrap->getOptions(); $module = $this->getRequest()->getModuleName(); if (isset($config[$module]['resources']['layout']['layout'])) { $layoutScript = $config[$module]['resources']['layout']['layout']; $this->getActionController()->getHelper('layout')->setLayout($layoutScript); } } } Then i added a loader in bootstrap.php: protected function _initLayoutHelper() { $this->bootstrap('frontController'); Zend_Controller_Action_HelperBroker::addPath(APPLICATION_PATH .'/controllers/helpers'); $layout = Zend_Controller_Action_HelperBroker::addHelper(new Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Layout()); } Following is my application.ini: [production] autoloaderNamespaces.tree = "Tree_" phpSettings.display_startup_errors = 0 phpSettings.display_errors = 0 includePaths.library = APPLICATION_PATH "/../library" bootstrap.path = APPLICATION_PATH "/Bootstrap.php" bootstrap.class = "Bootstrap" resources.frontController.controllerDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/controllers" resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" resources.frontController.helperDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/controllers/helpers" resources.modules[] = "" contact.resources.frontController.defaultControllerName = "index" resources.layout.layoutPath = APPLICATION_PATH "/layouts/scripts" resources.layout.layout = layout admin.resources.layout.layout = admin admin.resources.layout.layoutPath = APPLICATION_PATH "/layouts/scripts" resources.view[] = [staging : production] [testing : production] phpSettings.display_startup_errors = 1 phpSettings.display_errors = 1 [development : production] phpSettings.display_startup_errors = 1 phpSettings.display_errors = 1 While running this code i am getting following errors: Warning: include(Zend\Controller\Action\Helper\LayoutLoader.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\personal\proj\renovate\library\Zend\Loader.php on line 83 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'Zend\Controller\Action\Helper\LayoutLoader.php' for inclusion (include_path='D:\personal\proj\renovate\application/../library;D:\personal\proj\renovate\library;.;C:\php5\pear') in D:\personal\proj\renovate\library\Zend\Loader.php on line 83 Fatal error: Class 'Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_LayoutLoader' not found in D:\personal\proj\renovate\application\Bootstrap.php on line 33 Kindly let me know, how can i come out from this issue.   • Sqlalchemy layout with WSGI application

    - by TheDude
I'm working on writing a small WSGI application using Bottle and SqlAlchemy and am confused on how the "layout" of my application should be in terms of SqlAlchemy. My confusion is with creating engines and sessions. My understanding is that I should only create one engine with the 'create_engine' method. Should I be creating an engine instance in the global namespace in some sort of singleton pattern and creating sessions based off of it? How have you done this in your projects? Any insight would be appreciated. The examples in the documentation dont seem to make this entirely clear (unless I'm missing something obvious). Any thoughts?

  • Rails engines extending functionality

    - by sinsiliux
So I have an engine which defines some models and controllers. I want to be able to extend functionality of some models/controllers in my application (eg. adding methods) without loosing the original model/controller functionality from engine. Everywhere I read that you simply need to define controller with the same name in your application and Rails will automatically merge them, however it doesn't work for me and controller in engine is simply ignored (I don't think it's even loaded).

  • Accessing Layout Items from inside Widget AppWidgetProvider

    - by cam4mav
I am starting to go insane trying to figure this out. It seems like it should be very easy, I'm starting to wonder if it's possible. What I am trying to do is create a home screen widget, that only contains an ImageButton. When it is pressed, the idea is to change some setting (like the wi-fi toggle) and then change the Buttons image. I have the ImageButton declared like this in my main.xml <ImageButton android:id="@+id/buttonOne" android:src="@drawable/button_normal_ringer" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" /> my AppWidgetProvider class, named ButtonWidget * note that the RemoteViews class is a locally stored variable. this allowed me to get access to the RViews layout elements... or so I thought. @Override public void onUpdate(Context context, AppWidgetManager appWidgetManager, int[] appWidgetIds) { remoteViews = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.main); Intent active = new Intent(context, ButtonWidget.class); active.setAction(VIBRATE_UPDATE); active.putExtra("msg","TESTING"); PendingIntent actionPendingIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, 0, active, 0); remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.buttonOne, actionPendingIntent); appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(appWidgetIds, remoteViews); } @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { // v1.5 fix that doesn't call onDelete Action final String action = intent.getAction(); Log.d("onReceive",action); if (AppWidgetManager.ACTION_APPWIDGET_DELETED.equals(action)) { final int appWidgetId = intent.getExtras().getInt( AppWidgetManager.EXTRA_APPWIDGET_ID, AppWidgetManager.INVALID_APPWIDGET_ID); if (appWidgetId != AppWidgetManager.INVALID_APPWIDGET_ID) { this.onDeleted(context, new int[] { appWidgetId }); } } else { // check, if our Action was called if (intent.getAction().equals(VIBRATE_UPDATE)) { String msg = "null"; try { msg = intent.getStringExtra("msg"); } catch (NullPointerException e) { Log.e("Error", "msg = null"); } Log.d("onReceive",msg); if(remoteViews != null){ Log.d("onReceive",""+remoteViews.getLayoutId()); remoteViews.setImageViewResource(R.id.buttonOne, R.drawable.button_pressed_ringer); Log.d("onReceive", "tried to switch"); } else{ Log.d("F!", "--naughty language used here!!!--"); } } super.onReceive(context, intent); } } so, I've been testing this and the onReceive method works great, I'm able to send notifications and all sorts of stuff (removed from code for ease of reading) the one thing I can't do is change any properties of the view elements. To try and fix this, I made RemoteViews a local and static private variable. Using log's I was able to see that When multiple instances of the app are on screen, they all refer to the one instance of RemoteViews. perfect for what I'm trying to do The trouble is in trying to change the image of the ImageButton. I can do this from within the onUpdate method using this. remoteViews.setImageViewResource(R.id.buttonOne, R.drawable.button_pressed_ringer); that doesn't do me any good though once the widget is created. For some reason, even though its inside the same class, being inside the onReceive method makes that line not work. That line used to throw a Null pointer as a matter of fact, until I changed the variable to static. now it passes the null test, refers to the same layoutId as it did at the start, reads the line, but it does nothing. Its like the code isn't even there, just keeps chugging along. SO...... Is there any way to modify layout elements from within a widget after the widget has been created!? I want to do this based on the environment, not with a configuration activity launch. I've been looking at various questions and this seems to be an issue that really hasn't been solved, such as link text and link text oh and for anyone who finds this and wants a good starting tutorial for widgets, this is easy to follow (though a bit old, it gets you comfortable with widgets) .pdf link text hopefully someone can help here. I kinda have the feeling that this is illegal and there is a different way to go about this. I would LOVE to be told another approach!!!! Thanks

  • In Ubuntu, how do I change my default Greek font?

    - by Matthew
I'm taking a course in ancient Greek, and I store notes and flash cards on my computer. However, by default Ubuntu uses a modern Greek font. This changes some noticable things--for example, a circumflex is ? instead of a?. I can type the circumflex by switching back to english and entering the unicode combining character u0311 (which is what I just did to type the second a), but obviously this is very cumbersome. I've installed the "ttf-linex" package from the Ubuntu repositories, which claims to include an ancient Greek font.
