• Array.Copy: strange exception while concatenating two byte arrays

  In a application of mine that is developed in C# I have the following code: byte[] resb = new byte[Buffer.ByteLength(blockAr) + Buffer.ByteLength(previous)]; Array.Copy(blockAr, 0, resb,0, blockAr.Length); Array.Copy(previous, 0, resb, blockAr.Length, previous.Length); It's a very simple code to concatenate two byte arrays. The problem is that in some particular situation that I don't know I have that exception: ArgumentOutOfRangeException: sourceIndex is less than the lower bound of the first dimension of sourceArray. I cannot see any of strange in my code and I am not able to reproduce the exception. Could anyone help me to identify the problem? thanks

• Dynamically reducing image dimension as well as image size in C#

  I have an image gallery that is created using a repeater control. The repeater gets bound inside my code behind file to a table that contains various image paths. The images in my repeater are populated like this <img src='<%# Eval("PicturePath")' %>' height='200px' width='150px'/> (or something along those lines, I don't recall the exact syntax) The problem is sometimes the images themselves are massive so the load times are a little ridiculous. And populating a 150x200px image definitely should not require a 3MB file. Is there a way I can not only change the image dimensions, but shrink the file size down as well? Thanks!

In order to prevent me from duplicating code, I bound a click event to the btnChapter class instead of binding an event individually to each button's ID. $('.btnChapter').click(function(){ .. do stuff .. }); How do I trigger() the click() event only for #btnChapter_2? • Opinions on platform game actor/background collision resolving

  Imagine the following scenario: I have a level whose physical structure is built up from a collection of bounding rectangles, combined with prerendered bitmap backgrounds. My actors, including the player character, all have their own bounding rectangle. If an actor manages to get stuck inside a level block, partially or otherwise, it'll need to be shifted out again, so that it is flush against the block. The untested technique I thought up during bio break is as follows: If an actor's box is found to intersect a level box, determine where the centerpoints of each rect are. If the actor's center is higher than the level box's, move the actor so that the bottom of the actor's rect is flush with the top of the level's rect, and vice versa if it's lower. Then do a similar thing horizontally. Opinions on that? Suggestions on better methods? Actually, the bounding rects are XNA BoundingBlocks with their Z spanning from -1 to 1, but it's still 2D gameplay.

  I'm trying to update my Silverlight 4 UI approx every 1/2 second with new data. I've hooked into a WCF service using net.tcp binding and issuing callbacks from the server. To make sure I get the data from the service as quickly as possible I've started up my proxy on a backround worker inside of my Silverlight App. My question is, how do I get the results from the callback and update the ObservableCollection that is bound to a datagird? I've tried a number of different ways and keep getting the dreaded cross-thread error.

• Why does C++ linking use virtually no CPU?

  On a native C++ project, linking right now can take a minute or two, yet during this time CPU drops from 100% during compilation to virtually zero. Does this mean linking is primarily a disk activity? If so, is this the main area an SSD would make big changes? But, why aren't all my OBJ files (or as many as possible) kept in RAM after compilation to avoid this? With 4Gb of RAM I should be able to save a lot of disk access and make it CPU-bound again, no?

• How can we block the user from unchecking a DataGridView checkbox?

  We have a DataGridViewCheckBox column bound to a boolean property in our class. The property setter has some logic which says that under certain conditions a True flag cannot be changed, ie, it stays checked forever. This is on a per record basis. So the entire column can't be readonly, only certain rows. Pseudo code: Public Property Foo() As Boolean Get Return _Foo End Get Set(ByVal value As Boolean) If _Foo And Bar And value = False Then //do nothing, in this scenario once you're true, you stay true Else _Foo = value End If End Set End Property Databinding is handling all of this fine, except that the checkbox is visibly cleared when it's clicked. Then, of course, when the binding / setter is fired (as you move off that cell) it is restored to its checked status per the underlying logic. Ultimately it doesn't matter too much but it's a clumsy bit of UI. How can we intercept the user's click and keep it checked?

  Hi, I have a Rest-Service exposed through spring-mvc. I have a particular method which is correctly mapped and called through a http-call. My spring application contains the hibernatetransactionmanager and transactions are configured through @Transactional-annotations. I annotated the method with @Transactional. @Transactional(readOnly = true) @Override @RequestMapping(value = "/start", method = RequestMethod.GET) @ResponseBody public List start(....) Whenever I call the http-method I get org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException from my org.springframework.http.converter.json.MappingJacksonHttpMessageConverter which is bound in my application context. Is the @Transactional annotation valid for the MessageConverter as well?

• low latency data link pc to android

  can anyone recommend a method for low latency bi-directional com link between my pc app and android slave app. the app i have works now via wifi but the latency is too slow (about 300mS), i'm looking to get it down to 10mS or so. the android is acting like a glorified remote control to the game on the pc. the apk displays a low res image and sends button presses back to the game and the round trip need to be quick i'm thinking the only option beside the network, is to connect a usb cable but i don't see a lot of support for that path and not even sure it would be lower latency than wifi any ideas please?

  I have a datasheet form bound to table. I added 2 unbound fields and set their Control Source properties to user defined VBA functions: 1. ConcatRelated (http://allenbrowne.com/func-concat.html) 2. Custom function that returns a string: Public Function GetLowestSatatus(LookupField As String, JSAID As Integer) As String On Error Resume Next GetLowestSatatus = DLookup(LookupField, "JsaStatuses", "ID=" & DMin("StatusID", "Tasks", "JSAID =" & JSAID)) End Function It works fine on my and some other machines but there are machines I got "#Name?" in these 2 unbound fields. All machines configured identically. Any ideas? Thank you!

I need to be able to bind other stuff to them (like files, or contacts) and using a database is the best way I see for now. The same question comes for files, because they can be bound to chat messages, I have to store them in the database too..   I have a feeling I'm either misunderstanding the 'stop' event or not doing it right, but it seems to be called several times while the element is bound to is being dragged. makeAllDragable = function () { $(".test-table").draggable({ start: function (event, ui) { $(this).click(); }, stop: function (event, ui) { foo() } }).click(function () { selectTable($(this)); }); } foo = function () { alert("test"); } In this example foo is called about 30 times, shouldn't is just be when I release the draggable? • Using condionals in Linq Programatically

  I was just reading a recent question on using conditionals in Linq and it reminded me of an issue I have not been able to resolve. When building Linq to SQL queries programatically how can this be done when the number of conditionals is not known until runtime? For instance in the code below the first clause creates an IQueryable that, if executed, would select all the tasks (called issues) in the database, the 2nd clause will refine that to just issues assigned to one department if one has been selected in a combobox (Which has it's selected item bound to the departmentToShow property). How could I do this using the selectedItems collection instead?   Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to make a generic webservice method in java like this: @WebMethod public <T extends Foo> void testGeneric(T data){ However when I try to consume this with a Java client I get an error stating: [ERROR] Schema descriptor {http://####/}testGeneric in message part "parameters" is not defined and could not be bound to Java. I know it is possible to make a method that takes a parameter such as List and this generates correctly using JAX-WS. • Just when I thought my site was working right, it screws up in IE7

  I thought I'd done quite well, my site passed XHTML1.0 strict validation and worked flawlessly in IE6 as well as looking fine in IE8 & Chrome. I glibly thought that it it worked in IE6 & 8, IE7 was bound to be OK. But on checking I see one of my has a scrollbar in IE7, the seems about 200% as wide as it should be... the content is fine but you can scroll the whole . 2 separate pages have this issue, a 3rd does not, even though all pages use the same layout template - the main difference on the 2 that break is a floated div. Are there known issues specifically in this area with IE7? Or do I have to embarrass myself by posting a link to the site?

  Possible Duplicate: Choice of programming language for learning data structures and algorithms Teachers have different opinions on what programming language they would choose to teach data structures and algorithms with. Some would prefer a lower level language such as C because it allows the student to learn more about what goes on beyond the abstractions in terms of memory allocation and deallocation and pointers and pointer arithmetic. On the other hand, others would say that they would prefer a higher level language like Java because it allows the student to learn more about the concepts of the structures and the algorithm design rather than 'waste time' and fiddle around with memory segmentation faults and all the blunders that come with languages where memory management is manual. What is your take on this issue? And also, please post any references you may know of that also discuss this argument.

What is the minimal number of attempts needed to establish that fact? " Conditions: if a coconut is broken, you cannot reuse the same. You are left with only with the other coconut Possible approaches/strategies I can think of are Binary break ups & once you find the floor on which the coconut breaks use upcounting from the last found Binary break up lower index. Window/Slices of smaller sets of floors & use binary break up within the Window/Slice (but on the down side this would require a Slicing algorithm of it's own.) Wondering if there are any other way to do this.

ProviderList = new List<Provider>(); //Populate list Providers.ItemsSource = ProviderList; I can save the selected item with no problem but I can't manage to set the selected item from code afterwards. I am trying to do so as follows: int x = Providers.Items.IndexOf((Provider)_Settings["provider"]); However IndexOf() is always returning -1. If I inspect both Providers.Items[1] and _Setting["provider"] at runtime using the immediate window they both return {StoreRetrieveData.Provider} Name: "Greenflag" Am I doing something wrong (well clearly I am)?
