  • disable subtitles in mkv in quicktime

    I want to watch movies without subtitles. And I also like QuickTime for the feature that it could extend the frame to fit the screen (even though it hides some area from the sides). I have Perian installed and I want to watch mkv files, but they are all with subtitles. In QuickTime in View-Subtitles the only option is Off, but still I can see the subtitles. VLC plays same movies without subtitles, but it doesn't have this nice feature of extending the movie frame so that it fits the screen.

    We're using CentOS and sendmail's m4 configuration. How do I set domains where emails should be delivered? I only want two domains, and would like email to all other domains blocked. I tried this in my "/etc/mail/sendmail.mc" file ... FEATURE(`relay_hosts_only,mydomain1.com,mydomain2.com')dnl But then got this error tryiing to generate the sendmail.cf file ...   • Hyper-V causes boot loop/failure on a non-Gigabyte Win8 Pro system

    Hardware: Intel i7 2600K (not overclocked, SLAT compatible, virt. features enabled in bios) Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z (Z68) 16Gb RAM 256Gb SSD Other non-trivial working parts Adding Hyper-V is causing a boot loop resulting in an attempt at automatic repair by Windows 8 after the second or third loop: I'm trying to get the Windows Phone 8 SDK installed and I've narrowed down my troubles to the Hyper-V feature in Win8. This is required to run the WP8 emulator and there are no install options to omit this feature. My first attempt completely borked the OS as I did not have a recent restore point or system image, so I did a completely clean install and made plenty of backups/restore points. I skipped the SDK install and went straight for the windows feature add-on for Hyper-V. This confirmed that Hyper-V is the issue as the same behavior resulted. I cannot find any hint in the Event Logs. Cancelling automatic recovery causes the same behavior to repeat. I don't have any other VM products installed. My only recourse is to use a restore point, try something else, install it again, and see what happens. No luck so far. I'm on my 10th attempt here. Any help would be much appreciated. I also attempted disabling the usb 3.0 controller as the msdn topic lists an issue with USB controllers on Gigabyte boards. This also doesn't work. The USB devices light up but no input is received by the OS. All of my other bios CPU settings are in line with the info in the post. I'm totally stumped.   • MAC to IP binding in ASA 5510 / SG 300-52

    I am trying to configure a Cisco ASA 5510 to assign specific IP-addresses to specific MACs. Firmware on my ASA is 8.2(5). I have used this feature in our previous device (Cisco SA-520W). I have also read that this feature is (not yet) implemented. How do I work around this problem, if not by direct assignment? Do I need to specify fixed IP's on concerned devices themselves? I also have a SG 300-52 switch for our LAN. We cannot specify IP-addresses to ports, because we have further switches down the line. Thank you for your help!

  • How can I share a Windows 7 library with anonymous access without using a Homegroup?

    The "homegroup" feature is useless, because it requires a password, and therefore doesn't support anonymous, no-hassle access to shares from devices such as my Sony Bravia TV and non-Windows7 machines. So I turned off homegroup and reverted to the standard shared folders protocol. I'd like to share my Music "Library", so I can play files from my TV through the Surround Sound System, but there seems to be no option to share a library folder other than through a homegroup. I don't want to have to individually share the folders that belong to the library, because that would defeat the purposes of the library, which is to manage which folders are included in the library while also providing an easily accessible view of them all at once. Does anyone know how to share a Windows 7 library without that useless homegroup feature?

  • Disable creation of appointment when typing into Outlook calendar

    Outlook (both 2010 and 2007) has a "feature" that creates an appointment if I type some text while the calendar window has focus. This keeps biting me every now and then when I erroneously have focus on the calendar window and start typing. To me, this feature is twice as annoying: There is no easy way to escape out of it - I end up using mouse to select the newly created bogus event and then to delete it. Sometimes, if the focus is on an already existing event, such spurious typing changes the text without an easy way to undo. Question: is there a way to make Outlook stop creating/modifying events upon typing, forcing me instead to double click an event or Ctrl-N in order to process my input?

    When using Google Chrome, I would like to have a page scroll up so the bottom of form fields are at or above the bottom of the window when I click in the text input to begin entering something. However, if the form height is larger than the window, the top should not be scrolled off automatically. I want to go from: to: An bonus essential feature would be for the input box to automatically be resized in height (but not width) to fill the window. This feature ideally would be configurable: enable/disable and margin above and below. There should be no scrolling or resizing for one-line input boxes. Is there an extension or userscript that does something like this?

    A few years ago, TortoiseSVN 1.4.3 was deployed to our software development team and we are now looking at upgrading the client to the latest 1.6.x version. I had hoped this upgrade would be transparent with the additional features and modifications being client-side. For the most part, this was true except for a very important feature -- merging. When I try to merge a feature branch back into truck I get a show-stopping "Merge tracking not supported error." Here are some facts worth noting: When the repo was first created (before I was on board), it was created via the TortoiseSVN client itself. We do not have a 'svn server daemon' per se, rather the repository folders/database resides on a share folder that is accessible from our workstation machines via file:///. This was actually an eye opener for me, I had always thought there was some SVN server daemon we were talking to. We do not have any access to the underlying machine hosting the SVN share other than the ability to read/write to the share itself. I don't even know what OS the machine is running on. This share server was chosen because its drives are backed up nightly by our IT group. In all honesty, we really don't need the merge tracking feature although it would be nice to have. For the time being it would be sufficient to be able to use a 1.6.x TortoiseSVN client on the 1.4.3 repository and have it merge (sans tracking) without error. So now the question becomes, how does one upgrade a client-created 1.4.3 repo to a 1.6.x compatible version without access to the underlying machine the repo resides on? I was hoping the TortoiseSVN client itself had the ability to do this but that does not appear to be the case. Will I be forced to copy the entire repo over to my local drive, run some svn commands to upgrade the repo locally then copy the repo back to the share point? If so, will doing this break any compatibility with the the 1.4.3 clients in case we cant upgrade them all at the same time? Thanks for the help.

So far I know that this is possible with the some engines, though none of them are feasible for me either because of pricing or missing features. The engines currently known to me are: MS SQL (enterprise) DB2 (enterprise) Oracle (enterprise) GridSQL Greenplum Which other engines have this feature?   • How can I rebuild the index in Thunderbird 3.0?

    Hello, I have just deleted a lot of old messages (about 3,000) from my Thunderbird 3.0 profile. When I now use the new search feature (search all messages), TB still finds the deleted ones. I deleted them this way: I moved the messages to an own "archive" folder (not the built-in archive feature). Then I stopped TB and moved the archive files and folders to a different place on my file system. Then restarted TB. I archive my messages this way for years now. So, it seems that Thunderbird does not notice the deletion of my messages, thus the index is not updated. How can I tell TB to instantly rebuild the index?

  • How to make numbered chapter titles and paragraph headers in iWork Pages 09?

    For most of my document writing I use iWork Pages (from iWork '09), and it's usually fine for me. I don't miss Microsoft Word, except for one simple feature: the ability to number chapter titles and paragraph headers for easy reference in the contents of the document and for cross references. Somehow, I cannot find this feature in Pages '09. It is possible to number headers by setting the style to numbered, but it doesn't mitigate well into the generated dynamic contents, and paragraphs don't follow the numbering of higher level elements it seems. Does anyone know how to make this work?

    I am attempting to setup BugZilla to receive but reports from another system using the XML-RPC interface. BugZilla works fine on its own with its own interface. When I attempt to test the XML-RPC functionality by accessing "xmlrpc.cgi" in my browser I get the error: The XML-RPC Interface feature is not available in this Bugzilla at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 27 main::BEGIN(...) called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29 eval {...} called at C:\BugZilla\xmlrpc.cgi line 29 Following this I install test-taint package from the default perl repository, this installs version 1.04. Re-running "xmlrpc.cgi" gives me an IIS error: 502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server. So I run the checksetup.pl which inform me that: Use of uninitialized value in open at C:/Perl/site/lib/Test/Taint.pm line 334, <DATA> line 558. Installing Test-Taint from CPAN is the same. I assume XML-RPC is relent on Test-Taint, but Test-Taint doesn't seem to run correctly. If I ignore this error and attempt to invoke "bz_webservice_demo.pl" to add an entry the script times out. How can I get the XML-RPC / Test-Taint function working ?   • Bulk Deleting All Messages in a Folder in Microsoft Outlook Web Access

    How do you delete all messages in a folder in Outlook, preferrably through Web Access? I left my Outlook account unattended for several days (on vacation) and when I got back I found several folders with over 5k emails, mostly error logging or spam. When I try to open the Outlook client, it just locks up, presumably unable to download that many emails. I can view at most 100 emails at a time, but I can't select all emails to delete or permanently delete them immediately, so manually deleting this many emails is going to take a while. Gmail has a similar feature to select and delete all emails in a folder, and that's free so I figure being a quality non-free product from Microsoft, Outlook should have a similar feature (yes that's sarcasm). I've Googled, but I'm not finding anything. Is this possible?

  • Deploy Windows 7 Backup set to Windows 8

    Situation: We have a laptop here that's completely fubar. I.e: The hard drive is filled to the brim with bad sectors. Luckily, backups have been made using the built-in Windows 7 backup feature. This produces folders named Backup Set 2012-11-09 003009, containing folders like Backup Files 2012-11-09 003009, containing zip-files like Backup files 1, 2, 3,... Our brand new laptop comes with Windows 8. Now: Can we, using the standard back-up and restore feature in Windows 8, restore all the documents, music, etc. using the Windows 7 backup files? Thanks. (FYI: We also took a normal backup of all the documents just to be sure of course. I'm just curious what would happen. I would test it out, but the new laptop hasn't arrived yet and I wanted to make sure my efforts would not be in vain.)

  • Windows 8 - Ubuntu dual boot

    I bought a new Toshiba s855 notebook with windows 8 preinstalled. Secure boot feature was enabled by default. I installed latest version of ubuntu after disabling secure boot feature(it was not possible to install ubuntu without disabling secure boot). But now when I enable secure boot, the system automatically boots into windows 8, and it boots into ubuntu when I disable secure boot. EasyBCD lists the following boot entries but I can only see Windows 8 in boot menu: Default: Windows 8 Timeout: 7 seconds EasyBCD Boot Device: C:\ Entry #1 Name: Ubuntu BCD ID: {971641cd-304a-11e2-be82-806e6f6e6963} Device: \Device\HarddiskVolume2 Bootloader Path: \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi ...   • Has anyone evaluated NuttX RTOS?

    While reading Linux User's Journal today, I stumbled across a little blurb about NuttX RTOS. I checked out their website and was fairly impressed with its feature set and its ability to put it in an 8052! I find it interesting that it supports POSIX which is something I have helped worked on for one of my clients in-house RTOS. This one seems a little more feature rich than the in-house RTOS. Has anyone else heard of NuttX and has given it a try? If so, how does it compare to other RTOS's such as FreeRTOS?

  • Windows 8.1 touchpad three-finger-multitouch gesture gone

    Couple of days ago, i installed the Windows 8.1 Pro WMC and all of a sudden the touchpad gesture, which worked like a charm back in Win 8.1 preview, Win 8 and even Win 7, just stopped working. I am talking about the "Three Finger Flick" feature, which is used to go back and forward in folders and/or internet browsers at first i didnt even have the left edge pull feature, but then i added some values in this key into regedit, and now i have it [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\ZoneConfig\TouchPadPS2\Left Edge Pull] I Googled that, i didnt know what to do by myself and i dont know where to write and what to write anything in order to get the three finger flick back too I installed various versions of drivers starting from about version 15 to the version 17.0.8.0 (the one that i currently have), and even though i have all the other gestures, taps and swipes working they are not in the device settings, there is no multitouch gestures in device settings so thats why i guess i have to write something in regedit, but again, i dont know what to write, and where to write. please help me if you can

    I have SharePoint 2010 farm with one server. I'm developing some features in a sharepoint farm solution (not sandbox because there are some user rights problem). All feature scopes are set to "Site". I can deploy the solution to SharePoint with no problem. I added a new web front-end server to my existing farm. Then when I try deploy my solution, VS2010 shows this error: Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Feature with Id 'xxx' is not installed in this farm, and cannot be added to this scope I login with AD administrator account to development server. Administrator account is in site collection admins on the target web application. The farm account is in local administrators group. Is there a solution for this error?

    I imported many photos using the new "camera import" feature of Dropbox. Many of those were duplicates of photos previously imported by direct copying from the camera. Strangely, the Dropbox import appears to slightly reduce the file size. E.g. here on the right is the file imported through Dropbox: Comparison of the two files using pdiff returns "Images are binary identical", but tools such as fdupes or even the Picasa "show duplicate files" feature, consider them as unique. What can be the cause of this file size change? Is there any way to undo it? Most importantly: how can I de-dupe efficiently without regard to file size comparison? (running pdiff comparison over all photo pairs in my library is obviously impractical...) A solution for either OS X or Windows would do.

In Features View, double-click Directory Browsing. In the Actions pane, click Enable if the Directory Browsing feature is disabled and you want to enable it. Or, click Disable if the Directory Browsing feature is enabled and you want to disable it. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731109%28WS.10%29.aspx However, my IIS console doesn't have the Directory Browsing option mentioned in Step 2. How can this option be made available. Note, this is for a static HTML site, so I don't have any web.config or ASPX files.
