  Got a service which should be executed the moment an object is persisted. Though, I think the code looks like it should work, it doesn't. place though. At another part of the code the lister seems to be invoked. Though, there are both Controller types and both us $em->persist($something); $em->flush(); to save the changes. I would expect that in both cases the listener is invoked.

  I am looking people's opinion and experience on using chart controls within an ASP.NET application (web forms or MVC) primarily but also in any kind of project. I am currently doing my research and I have a pretty big list of controls to evaluate. • Create custom rewrite rule for my WordPress plugin

  I'm writing a plug-in for WordPress which in fact will be a separate ordering module (it will be placed in an IFRAME on the site I'm developing as well as others) but with its admin tied into WordPress. I wrote the administration part without too much hassle, however I'm having trouble with the front-end. First of all I'd like my script to be accessible via www.mysite.com/order/ and, as per the WordPress codex, I found I need to place the following code into my main plugin file: add_action('init', 'ta_flush_rewrite_rules'); function ta_flush_rewrite_rules() { global $wp_rewrite; $wp_rewrite->flush_rules(); } add_action('generate_rewrite_rules', 'ta_add_rewrite_rules'); function ta_add_rewrite_rules( $wp_rewrite ) { $new_rules = array("order/(.+)" => "/wp-content/plugins/my-plugin/order.php"); $wp_rewrite->rules = $new_rules + $wp_rewrite->rules; } But it doesn't work and I don't really want to get dirty with .htaccess hacking. Furthermore even if this would work, the order.php file is a separate file from my plugin. This means that I'll have to include some WordPress files in order to have access to the database and other helper classes and functions. That brings us to question number 2: is there a way for the URL to call a function of my plugin to render the order page?

• HttpWebRequest to different IP than the domain resolves to

  Hey, Long story short an API I'm calling's different environments (dev/staging/uat/live) is set up by putting a host-record on the server so the live domain resolves to their other server in for the HTTP request. The problem is that they've done this with so many different environments that we don't have enough servers to use the server-wide host files for it anymore (We've got some environments running off the same servers - luckily not dev and live though :P). I'm wondering if there's a way to make WebRequest request to a domain but explicitly specify the IP of the server it should connect to? Or is there any way of doing this short of going all the way down to socket connections (Which I'd really prefer not to waste time/create bugs by trying to re-implementing the HTTP protocol). PS: I've tried and we can't just get a new sub-domain for each environment.

• openvpn: after changing to server mode, client does not create TUN device

  i had a previously working configuration with the config files used in a previous question However, i've changed this now to the following configuration using server mode, everything on the logs seem fine, however the client doesn't create any tun interface, so i don't have anything to connect to, presumably, i need to add or push some route commands, but i don't have any idea at this point what i need to do. • 10013 error (AccessDenied) on Silverlight Socet application

  I am writing silverlight 3 application which is working on network. It works like client-server application. There is WinForm application for server and silverlight application for client. I use TcpListener on server and connect from client to it with Socket. In local network it works fine, but when I try to use it from internet it don't connect to server. I use IP address on local network and real IP with port number for internet version. I get error 10013 AccessDenied. Port number is correct and access policy exist. Firewall is turned of.   I am using PHPUnit 3.4.12 to drive my selenium tests. I'd like to be able to get a screenshot taken automatically when a test fails. • BSD Sockets don't behave in a iPhone 3G environment

  I noticed that many times while developing for an iPhone 3G, BSD socket functions will simply fail. I also noticed at the time, the 3G antenna wasn't even ON, nor was there WIFI Access to back up the network call (So it seems ridiculous that it doesn't turn on to support the network request).. This information was verified with an app from Apple in the SDK called Connectivity Test, or something of the sort. Basically if you load Safari or something, then quickly load up the App it would be fine.. Of course that's not ideal. Apparently, to apple, gethostbyname() or something of the sort is by no means a reason to turn on the Antenna. I contacted Apple about this, and they said that the BSD functions do not switch the Antenna on, but calling all of the Objective-C CFNetwork functions do. I want portable code, so is there a way to keep my existing BSD setup? I really dislike coding in Objective-C, so if anyone knows a work around, that would be awesome.

• jQuery AJAX Character Encoding Problem

  Hi everyone, I'm currently coding a French website. My problem lies with the response to the request. Because it is a French website, there are many accented letters. I'm using the ISO-8859-15 charset for that very reason. However, in the response to my AJAX request, the accents are becoming ?'s because the character encoding seems to be changed back to UTF-8. How do I avoid this? I've already tried adding some PHP at the top of the requested documents to set the character set: <?php header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-15'); ?> But that doesn't seem to work either. Any thoughts? Also, while any of you are looking here...why does the rightmost column seem to become smaller when a new page is loaded, causing the table to distort and each <li> within the <td> to wrap to the next line?   We're trying to implement a custom solution for Growl for Windows. We tell the Growl client to subscribe to notifications from our server. The server then gets a message from the client via the GNTP (Growl messaging protocol). We require the name of the user logged into the client machine in order to do database lookups. The GNTP does not provide this information. So, we have a connected client socket (and thus, IP address) and a message from this client containing its machine name. Is there any possible way to determine the username of the user who is logged into the specified machine? We have access to windows domain services.

  i am using raw sockets to create my own socket. i need to set the tcp_checksum. i have tried a lot of references but all are not working (i am using wireshark for testing). could you help me please. by the way, i read somewhere that if you set tcp_checksum=0. then the hardware will calculate the checksum automatically for you. is this true? i tried it, but in wireshark the tcp_checksum gives a value of 0X000 and says tcp offload. i also read about tcp offloading, and didn't understand, is it only that wireshark is cannot check an offloaded tcp checksum, but there is a correct one??

  At work, we have a client-server system where clients submit requests to a web server through HTTP. The server-side processing can sometimes take more than 60 seconds, which is the proxy timeout value set by our company's IT staff and cannot be changed. Is there a way to keep the HTTP connection alive for longer than 60 seconds (preferably for an arbitrarily long period of time), either by heartbeat messages from the server or the client? I know there are HTTP 1.1 persistent connections, but that is not what I want. Does HTTP have a keep-alive capability, or would this have to be done at the TCP level through some sort of socket option?

• which ASP.NET hosting site allows listening on different ports than 80 and uses .NET 4?

  I'm trying to take advantage of HTML 5 web sockets in .NET and the easiest way appears to be something like what this guy does. I've already tested this myself and it works great, but there are a few problems if I try to deploy this to my hosting site (discountasp.net). Basically, I am not allowed to open up a port on 8080 and listen on it. I then tried to figure out a way to listen on port 80 with IIS as well, but using the HTTPListener, I run into sercurity issues as well. This doesn't seem like it will help since I can't mess with this stuff on the hosting site server either. So to make my life easier, I think I need to find a hosting site that simply allows me to open up a socket on port 8080 and listen on it. Anyone know of one? Or does anyone know of a workaround (besides sniffing all the traffic on port 80)?

• Calling Web Page from Windows Service

  I have a Windows 2008 server. This has an instance of IIS7 installed and a website, accessible only via an internal hostname defined in the the servers hosts file. e.g. the server IP is 10.0.6.11 and the hosts file contains an entry 10.0.6.11 hl7.ourname.org I would like to call a URL on the website, e.g "http://hl7.ourname.org/updatestatus" from a Windows service. I can call the web site from an instance of IE7 running on the server. However, if try to call it from a Windows service I get a "Socket Error # 10061 Connection refused." This looks like a permission issue. The service is running as "Network Service" ,but maybe I should be running as a different user. Thanks

• Programmatically creating vector arrows in KML

  Does anyone have any practical examples of programmatically drawing icons as vectors in KML? Specifically, I have data with a magnitude and an azimuth at given coordinates, and I would like to have icons (or another graphical element) generated based on these values. Some thoughts on how I might approach it: Image directory (a brute force way): Make an image director of 360 different image files (probably batch rotate a single image) each pointing in a cooresponding azimuth. I've seen things like "Excel to KML," but am looking for code that I can use within a program, rather than a web utility. Issue: Arrow does not contain magnitude context, so that would have to be a label. I'd rather dynamically lengthen the arrow. Line creation in KML: Perhaps create a formula that creates a line with the origin at the coordinate points, with the length of the line proportional to the magnitute, and angled according to azimuth. There would then be two more lines, perhaps 30 degrees or so extending from the end of the previous line to make the arrow head. Issues: Not a separate image icon, so not sure how it would work in KML. Also not sure how easy it would be to generate this algorithm. Separate image generation: Perhaps create a PHP file that uses imagemagick or something similar to dynamically generate a .png file in a similar method to the above, and then link to the icon using the URI "domain.tld/imagegen.php?magnitude=magvalue&azimuth=azmvalue". Issue: Still have the problem of actually writing the algorithm for image generation. So, the question: has anyone else come up with solutions for programmatic vector (rather than merely arrow) generation?

• How to check for server side update in iPhone application Web service request

  Hello All.... I have kind of Listing application for iPhone application, which always calling a web service to my php server and fetching the data and displaying it onto iPhone screen. Now, the thing to consider in this scenario is, my iPhone application everytime requesting on the server and fetching the data. But now my requirement is like I want to replace following set of actions with above one : - Everytime when my application is launched in iPhone, it should check for the new data at the server`. - And if server replies "true" then only my iPhone application will made a request to fetch the data. - In case of "false", my iPhone application will display the data which is already cached in local phone memory. Now to implement this scenario at server side (which has php, mysql), I am planning with the following solution : Table : tblNewerData id newDataFlag == ============ 1 true Trigger : tgrUpdateNewData Above trigger will update the tblNewerData - newDataFlag field on Insert case of my main table. And every time my iPhone app will request for tblNewerData-newDataFlag field, and if it found true then only it will create new request, and if it founds false then the cached version of data will be displayed. So, I want to know that, is it the correct way to do so ? or else any other smart option available ? Thanks in advance.

Here's how my designer intends the Gravatar images to look in the sidebar of our site: Here's the overlay image I made (screenshotted from Photoshop): Here's how it looks right now... Not quite ideal, I think you'll agree.
