• Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

  Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated. • Text over floated images

  I need to put some text over a series of images in a gallery. I found many tutorials about the text part however the images need to be floated. Whenever I add float:left though the trick no longer works.   I have been bothered for so long by the MySQL injections and was thinking of a way to eliminate this problem all together. I have came up with something below hope that many people will find this useful. The only Draw back I can think of this is the partial search: Jo =returns "John" by using the like %% statement. • Implementing OFX specification with javascript

  Hey all, I am working on a personal project and need to retrieve financial data. After looking around how this is normally done it seems you can pay lots of money and license a service like Yodlee to get this data for you or you can implement a OFX client like wesabe has to communicate with financial institutions. Seeing as I don't have lots of money and wouldn't mind the challenge I decided to try to implement the ofx spec (unless one of you can suggest a cheap/free alternative!). I looked around for some ofx libraries other people have already written for use but didn't find anything that looked too great. I was wondering if anyone knew if it would be a bad idea to attempt this in Javascript (using XMLSocket from actionscript to handle the actual socket communication). If there is some really bad reason why I shouldn't do this please bring it up. If there is I'll just do it in Java but I think it would be neat to have it completely in javascript so it runs client-side. Anyways I was hoping for some helpful input, thanks.

  Hi, If we had the possibility to run GAE app without any code change on our servlet engine that would be great because: in case that google changes their billing policy we can just jump to our own server or in case their current policy doesn't fit our app needs we can do stuff which is not allowed in the GAE, compromising a 1 JVM, 1 DB We don't actually need a distributed system but more of a realtime system with synchronize, true locking mechanisms, other servers/software installed on the server machine, socket interface etc... Such a package should include at least: TomCat (or equivalent) DataNucleus Access Platform (Task Queue service) Any idea if it's easy to get such a thing or if it's already exist somewhere? Thanks

  I have a VPS and I want to make mysql DB accept connection externally (from my PC for instance). I have Debian Linux installed on the server. I checked some tutorials online and they said to comment out: bind-address = 127.0.0.1 But this didn't seem to help! is there anything specific for VPSs? or Am I missing something else? • Web CMS That Outputs to Flat Static Pages (.html) via FTP to Remote Server?

  I have a web app project that I will be starting to work on shortly. One of the features included is going to be a content management system where users can add content and then that content will be combined with a template and then output as a regular .html file. This .html file would then be FTPed to their own web host. As I've always believed in not reinventing the wheel I figured I'd see if there are any quality customizable CMSes out there that do this already do this. For instance, Blogger.com allows you to post all of your content to your account there; but offers the option to let you use your own hosting. Any time you publish a new article then a new .html page is generated (as well as an updated index page with links to the new article) and then the updated content is FTPed to your own server. What I would like is something like this that I can modify to more closely suit my needs. Required Features: Able to host on my own server Written in PHP Users add content through their account, then when posted it is FTPed as .html to their server Any appropriate pages are also updated to link to the new content (like the index page or whatnot) Templateable Customizable Optional (but very much desired) features: Written in CodeIgniter or a similar PHP framework While CodeIgniter isn't strictly required, I would very much prefer it. It speeds up development time and makes things much easier to implement. So - any suggestions? I've stumbled across a few CMSes that push to remote servers as static pages, but the ones I've found all are hosted on the developers servers which means that I cannot modify it at all. Tried setting that to 100 to check and it still pauses) after every 10 or so iterations, then carries on working. I've been using the AS3 Socket class,but I'm getting disconnected from the server side,soon after the connection is made but the client still shows the 'connected' property as true .The server is asynchronous and was written in python using asyncore/asynchat, it works fine with most open source MOO/MUD clients . I tried connecting my program to a simple synchronous echo server,here both read and write worked fine with no disconnections from either side . So my question is how do I make a persistent connection with the server?

  I'm writing a proxy using .NET and C#. I haven't done much Socket programming, and I am not sure the best way to go about it. What would be the best way to implement this? Should I use Synchronous Sockets, Asynchronous sockets? Please help! It must... Accept Connections from the client on two different ports, and be able to receive data on both ports at the same time. Connect to the server on two different ports, and be able to send data on both ports as the same time. Immediately connect to the server and start forwarding packets as soon as a client connection is made. Forward packets in the same order they were received. Be as low latency as possible. I don't need the ability for multiple clients to connect to the proxy, but it would be a nice feature if its easy to implement. This is not bad (I mean, except for actually writing the app). Now I'm contemplating perhaps developing the app for Android tablets (TBA). In Java, what options are available for MIDI message communication? I'm quite familiar with javax.sound.midi, but then I would need a virtual MIDI port to send messages to the host. On the other hand, if the app were done in Adobe AIR, what options would I have available for communicating with MIDI? Obviously another option is to send/receive messages over a TCP/IP socket to a Java host, and talk that way, but it sounds a tad cumbersome... or perhaps not? DSMI does use a host program, after all.

• Showing an array of certain pages with WP_Query in Wordpress

  What I'm trying to achieve is showing only certain pages in a loop. 3 certain pages, not more, not less. I've tried many things but I just can't complete it. <?php $special_tabs = new WP_Query(array('post_type' => 'page', 'post_in' => array(100,102,104))); ?> What this does, from what I understand, is that it shows an array of pages and then includes those ID's there as well. <?php $special_tabs = new WP_Query(array ('page_id' => 100)); ?> And this shows only ONE certain page, it doesn't support the showing of array of different IDs. I'm sure I am not the first person to have such specific needs and I'm certain there is a relatively simple way to achieve what I'm trying to achieve, but I just can't come up with a solution or to find one. The directory /srv/http has the following permissions set: drwxrwxr-x 2 root httpdev 80 Jun 13 11:48 ./ drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 152 Mar 26 13:56 ../ -rwxrwxr-x 1 root httpdev 8 Jun 13 11:48 index.html* I have created the group httpdev before with the command: groupadd httpdev and added my user sighter with: gpasswd -a sighter httpdev Then i have set the permissions as above using the chown and chmod commands. But now i am not allowed to modify the index.html file or create a new file, as user sighter ,with touch like that: <sighter [bassment] ~http> touch hallo.php touch: cannot touch `hallo.php': Permission denied What do I understand wrong. I was expecting that i can do what i want there then the group has all the rights.   Hi all, I am working on an artificial intelligence project which is a logic game and aims two user connecting to the server on the network who acts as an Admin and then start to play one by one. In order to create connections, i have a server code which is just listening on localhost:8000 and assigning team values to the clients as they arrive. After connecting, clients make their move under Admin's control. The question is that when i try to put my code to work in the browser it fails with the following error: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:8000 connect,resolve) Even though i have created my own policy, first granting only Socket access permission to the codebase of my project folder (file:///home/xxx/projects/-), after it didnt work i granted all permissions from all codebase. I tried placing my policy file both in the home directory and in the same directory where my applet code resides. Appreciate any tips, thanks.

  I'm trying to use SimpleXML to parse an XML document (an ItemLookupResponse for a book from the Amazon Product Advertising API) which contains the following element: <ItemAttributes> <Author>Shane Conder</Author> <Author>Lauren Darcey</Author> <Manufacturer>Pearson Educacion</Manufacturer> <ProductGroup>Book</ProductGroup> <Title>Android Wireless Application Development: Barnes & Noble Special Edition</Title> </ItemAttributes> My problem is that I don't know how to deal with the multiple possible Author elements. Here's what I have right now for the corresponding POJO (Plain Old Java Object), keeping in mind that it's not handling the case of multiple Authors: @Element public class ItemAttributes { @Element public String Author; @Element public String Manufacturer; @Element public String Title; } (I don't care about the ProductGroup, so it's not in the class -- I'm just setting SimpleXML's strict mode to off to allow for that.) I couldn't find an example in the documentation that corresponded with such a case. Using an ElementList with (inline=true) seemed along the right lines, but I didn't see how to do it for String (as opposed to a separate Author class, which I have no need for and don't see how it would even work). Here's a similar question and answer, but for PHP: php - simpleXML how to access a specific element with the same name as others? I don't know what the Java equivalent would be to the accepted answer. Thanks in advance.

  If i have a web application and i receive credit card data transmitted via a POST request by a web browser over HTTPS and instantly open a socket (SSL) to a remote PCI compilant card processor to forward the data and wait for a response, am i allowed to do that? or is this receiving the data with my application and forwarding it already subject of "processing credit card data"? if i create an iframe that is displayed in a client browser to enter cc data and this iframe posts the data via HTTPS to remote card processor (directly!) is this already a case of processing credit card data? even if my application code 'doesnt touch' the entered data with any event handlers? i'm interested in the definition "credit card data processing". when does it start to be a cc data processing application? can somebody maybe point me to that section in PCI-DSS standard that clearly defines when you start to 'be a processing application'?
