• Function missing but file including it is loaded? (Uncaught ReferenceError: flashembed is not defined)

  jQuery Tools is a stand-alone library that offers a flashembed() function; it does not require jQuery. • LicenseException for Xceed DataGrid for WPF

  I have developed a simple DB-editing app using Xceed's excellent DataGrid for WPF (UX Edition version 3.7), which is now ready for deployment... except that when I run it on a machine other than the development one where it was built, I am getting the runtime exception for invalid licensing. I have included my license key in the App.xaml.cs exactly as specified in the Xceed docs, like so: public partial class App : System.Windows.Application { protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e) { Xceed.Wpf.DataGrid.Licenser.LicenseKey = "DGF37-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx"; base.OnStartup(e); } } The correct version of the DataGrid DLLs are being included in the setup and the application's program directory, and there are no other versions on the target machine. Debugging doesn't show me anything useful other than the LicenseException that is thrown when the code tries to use the DataGrid, with the message that reads "Xceed.Wpf.DataGrid.Licenser.LicenseKey property must be set to a valid license key in the code of your application before using this product..." Any idea what's going wrong here?

• Blend 4 breaks VS2010 for Silverlight

  Hi, I had VS2010 running fine with Silverlight development. Then I installed Expression Blend 4. Now when I run VS2010 and try to debug a silverlight app I get an error saying "Unable to start debugging. The silverlight developer runtime is not installed. Please install a matching version." I've tried uninstalling silverlight tools, and reinstalling them from scratch (the latest april version). But I still get the same message. So basically I'm now unable to do VS2010 SL development. I'm on the verge of just rolling back to my last system restore point and giving up on Blend. But if I do that I'd be worried that Product Activation would never allow me to reinstall it in the future, since the MSDN download page implies I'm only ever allowed to install it on a single machine.   I'm writing a Cocoa app. One dialog has 3 tabs, some of the tabs needs more loading time, so I want to load them lazily. Since each Tab is a NSTabViewItem class, so I'm trying to derive from it and overriding its view property. In the view getter method, I use a ViewController to load a view and returns out. In Debugging, I found NSTabViewItem -view method is get called correctly, but after that NSTabView tries to set Initial FirstResponder and crashed with message: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'In -[NSTabViewItem setInitialFirstResponder:], the first responder must descend from the tab view item's view. (Item: Invalid responder: )' I tried to override the -initialFirstResponder method to return a sub-view of my loaded view, but it still crashes the same place. does anyone know how to get it work correctly? Also is it correct way to do this by deriving the NSTabViewItem? thanks! -Jonny

• Passing to service custom class instance in WCF

  Hi, I have my custom class Customer with its properties. I added DataContract mark above the class and DataMember to properties and it was working fine, but I'm calling a service class's function, passing customer instance as parameter and some of my properties get 0 values. While debugging I can see my properties values and after it gets to the function, some properties' values are 0. Why it can be so? There's no code between this two actions. DataContract mark workes fine, everything's ok. Any suggestions on this issue? I tried to change ByRef to ByVal, but it doesn't change anything. Why it would pass other values right and some of integer types just 0? Maybe the answer is simple, but I can't figure it out. • Which c# project files should I version control?

  I have a project I'm looking to manually manage via perforce version control as I only have the Express edition. What I'm looking for is which files should be excluded in the version control as locking many of the files can result in a problem for visual studio compiling and debugging. What I have, so far, included. .cs files (except properties folder) .resx files .csproj files Excluded bin folder obj folder Properties folder .user file Let me know if there is something more that should be included that I have excluded or if there is a better way to do this.

• Keyboard Simulation not working with Keyboard hook for modifier keys

  I have a piece of software that is being used to simulate a certain device on a touchscreen, this device already runs an application that receives keyboard input from the device. My software (reffered to as simulator) displays a virtual keyboard and runs the application. Thus, the simulator sends keys with input simulator: http://inputsimulator.codeplex.com/ And the applciation listens to keys with the following keyboard hook: https://svn.cyberduck.io/tags/release-4-1/source/ch/cyberduck/core/GlobalKeyboardHook.cs My problem is, what some keys from the device's hardware actually do is to sent a key combination (ex: left-alt + 1) to the application and a weird scenario is occurring: The application listens to normal keyboard inputs The simulator sends keys to other applications (ie: visual studio responds to the keys sent when debugging) The simulator can send single keys to the application (I can type) The simulator CANNOT send key combinations to the application (alt+1 is received as just 1 in the application) This started happenning when we imported the application's dll into the same process from the simulator. Could there be any reason why I can't simulate key combinations for a hook in the same process? Is there any easy fix for this?

• Install app on Motorola Backflip from AT&T

  I'm trying to test an app out on the Motorola Backflip with AT&T as the carrier. I checked USB debugging on the phone's Development screen. Using Eclipse, how do I get the app to load on the Backflip so I can test it? DDMS shows a device with a bunch of question marks and unkown. Seems that it only gives me the option to load the app on the SD card which doesn't do me any good. I searched and found a Motorola driver which I'm supposed to install to the adb folder. Where is that folder? I've checked the phone and on my development machine. Maybe I need new glasses?

• windbg/cdb hangs when bp hit

  I have a problem where cdb or windbg hangs frequently, but not all the time, when I'm debugging with it and I attach to a specific application on my machine. I found this article: http://www.nynaeve.net/?p=164 which talks about a symbol loading race condition being the problem, but I can force load the symbols, actually have a breakpoint in-app work, and still have it hang elsewhere. Here is the stack from cdb itself when I attach to it with another debugger: ntdll!NtReadFile kernel32!ReadFile cdb!ReadNonConLine cdb!ConIn cdb!MainLoop cdb!main !analyze reports that APPLICATION_HANG_BusyHang is the problem bucket, and 'ReadNonConLine' is the offending function. as far as the stack goes: ffffffff`fffffffe 00000000`00000000 00000001`3f641498 00000000`0014ea50 : kernel32!ReadFile+0x86 00000000`000002a4 00000000`0014ebb0 00000000`00001000 00000000`00000000 : cdb!ReadNonConLine+0x6d ReadNonConLine has the string "g" at 0014ebb0 passed as a param, which may be part of the command I had at the hanging breakpoint (it was something like bp foo "dt a; g") ReadFile takes a handle as its first parameter. I'm surprised by the value -2, though, that doesn't look valid. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Aaron

• ffmpeg 0.5 flv to wav conversion creates wav files that other programs won't open.

  Hi, I am using the following command to convert FLV files to audio files to feed into julian, a speech to text program. cat ./jon2.flv | ffmpeg -i - -vn -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 16000 -ac 1 -f wav - | cat - > jon2.wav The cat's are there for debugging purposes as the final use will be a running program that will pipe FLV into ffmpeg's stdin and the stdout going to julian. The resulting wave files are identified by "file" as: jon3.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 16000 Hz VLC (based on ffmpeg) plays the file, but no other tools will open/see the data. They show empty wav files or won't open/play. For example Sound Booth from CS4. Has anyone else had similar problems? Julian requires wav files 16bit mono at 16000 Hz. Julian does seem to read the file, but doesn't seem to go through the entire file (may be unrelated). Thanks, -rr

• Why doesn't WebBBS work now that I've migrated to a new server?

  Hello, I've moved a WebBBS board from one server to another. Ever since the board doesn't work. I'm getting an Apache error whenever I try to access the board. Don't even know where to start the debugging, I'm not a Perl person. The file paths remained the same and there isn't any DB involved. http://gammonline.com/members/board/ Any ideas? After a bit of testing I believe that the problem has something to do with the index.cgi which is located in that folder (not getting the error when renaming it). Thanks, Roy.

After running for about 2 months I noticed that the mongrel process was using about 4GB of memory. I did some research on debugging ruby memory leaks and could not find much. So I have two questions. Are there any good tools that can be used to find memory leaks in Ruby/rails? What type of coding patterns cause memory leaks in ruby?

• Creating Windows Desktop Icon in CMake + CPack + NSIS

  I'm using NSIS package generator in CMake 2.8.1 to distribute a Qt application. Everything is working fine... except the use of CPACK_CREATE_DESKTOP_LINKS to create a desktop link to the application. I've looked through the CMake source (including it's own "bootstrap" installation definition for windows), and as far as I can tell I'm doing the same thing. • Keystrokes in Winforms app causing window to close unexpectedly

  I have a strange issue that has arisen recently: Whenever I enter text, even a single character, into a textbox in any Form in my application it causes the form and its parent to close. I've checked for the following so far: Errant/mis-assigned event handlers that may be interpreting a keystroke as a Form cancel I am using keypreview in several windows but debugging shows this to not be a cause Happens in any form of the application Happens even with brand new text boxes dropped on the form Tried removing the WithEvents declaration from text box declarations (VB.NET) The result is DialogResult.Cancel when I break the code after Show or ShowDialog The forms do not use AcceptButton or CancelButton properties (set to none) Note: I am modifying a large codebase with a lot of code that I have yet to touch What else could be causing this strange behavior?

  Debugging some code in Visual Studio 2008 (C++), I noticed that the address in my function pointer variable is not the actual address of the function itself. • What parser generator do you recommend

  I'm currently shopping for a FOSS parser generator for a project of mine. It has to support either C or C++. I've looked at bison/flex and at boost::spirit. I went from writing my own to spirit to bison to spirit to bison to spirit, each time hit by some feature I found unpleasant. The thing I hate most about bison/flex is that they actually generate C/C++ source for you. There are a number of disadvantages to this, e.g. debugging. I like spirit from this point of view, but I find it very very heavy on syntax. I am curious about what you are using, what you would recommend, and general thoughts about the state of the art in parser generators. I am also curious to hear about approaches being used in other languages for parsing problems.

• jquery-Ajax call on tornado handlers waits for pervious ajax call to return

  Hey All. I recently started testing TornadoWeb for a home-project, which uses jquery getJSON function to call my tornado handlers. And found something strange, which i seek an explanation for. I fire an ajax request for Handler1 on tornado, and in some cases request for Handler2 is initiated before Handler1 returns. It appears from development-server logs, and firebug console-debugging, that Handler2 request waits for Handler1 request to finish, and then return. So basically, XHR call is waiting for earlier XHRs. They are supposed to be asynchronous/non-blocking right?? Or am i missing something. I would appreciate help from anyone who can throw some light on this.

• ANTLR parser hanging at proxy.handshake call

  I am attempting to get a basic ECMAScript parser working, and found a complete ANTLR grammar for ECMAScript 3, which appears to compile ok and produces the appropriate Lexer/Parser/Walker Java files. (Running inside ANTLR IDE plugin for Eclipse 3.5) However, when actually trying to use it with some simple test code (following guide on ANTLR wiki), it just hangs when trying to create the parser: CharStream MyChars = new ANTLRFileStream(FileName); // FileName is valid ES3Lexer MyLexer = new ES3Lexer(MyChars); CommonTokenStream MyTokens = new CommonTokenStream(MyLexer); MyTokens.setTokenSource(MyLexer); ES3Parser MyParser = new ES3Parser( MyTokens ); // hangs here ES3Parser.program_return MyReturn = MyParser.program(); I've tracked down the problem to inside the ES3Parser constructor, where it's calling the function proxy.handshake() - before this line I can successfully do System.out.println("text") but after it I get nothing. So, how do I go about finding out why it's hanging, and stopping it - or even just bypassing this section (can/should I disable debugging?) - so long as that lets it work and allows me to get on with doing useful stuff.

• Dictionary is returning false on ContainsKey after item is added

  I have a dictionary declared as follows IDictionary<string, object> _objectIds = new Dictionary<string, object>(); I was experiencing some problems with it and it discovered that the instance returned false as a result of ContainsKey method and from the watch window I was sure that the item was there. So I created helper method private bool IdsContainsKey(string key) { lock (syncObject) { lock (_objectIds) { if (_objectIds.ContainsKey(key)) return true; // A if (_objectIds.ContainsKey(key)) return true; // B return _objectIds.ContainsKey(key); // C } } } During my debugging session I run into situation when the method exited in place B and sometimes I made to C returning true. • AJAX is reloading page on a SharePoint site (SharePoint 2007 AJAX-enabled)

  I have an AJAX-enabled SharePoint 2007 site. I have also created a user control that has an interactive ajax form. It obviuosly works like a charm locally, but I am trying to get it working on the SharePoint site. The problem is that once I load up the user control on to an aspx page inside SharePoint, the form (which has ajax), causes the page to reload every time a postback occurs. Can someone help point me in the direction of debugging this? - I really need to eliminate the page refreshes and have the ajax work correctly in SharePoint. I read that the ScriptManager has to be in the SharePoint masterpage, but that did not work either... Page still reloads everytime. Thanks.

• Monitoring pthread context switching

  I would like to monitor the the context switching behavior in a multi-threaded pthread application. In other RTOSes(Micro C OS) I have been able to register a context switch callback for each thread in the application, and then log (or toggle a gpio) and watch the thread context switching in real time. This was a valuable tool for debugging the real time behavior and interaction of the multiple threads. My current environment is embedded linux utilizing the pthread api. Is there a way to montior each of the context switches?

• Disable debug output in libxml2 and xmlsec

  Hi, In my software, I use libxml2 and xmlsec to manipulate (obviously) XML data structures. I mainly use XSD schema validation and so far, it works well. When the data structure input by the client doesn't match the XSD schema, libxml2 (or xmlsec) output some debug strings to the console. Here is an example: Entity: line 1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found DUMMY<?xml ^ While those strings are useful for debugging purposes, I don't want them to appear and polute the console output in the released software. So far, I couldn't find an official way of doing this. Do you know how to suppress the debug output or (even better) to redirect it to a custom function ? Many thanks.

  hi, I have a UITableView which uses the following code to display an image in a Table View cell: cell.imageView.layer.masksToBounds = YES; cell.imageView.layer.cornerRadius = 5.0; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:[[color types] stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]]; if ( image ) { cell.imageView.image = [image imageScaledToSize:CGSizeMake(50, 50)]; } It works fine on the iPhone simulator, but when I try it on a real iPhone the iPhone doesn't show. Instead in the console in debugging mode, I get this error: attempt to pop an unknown autorelease pool (0x851e00) Any help would be great, thanks.

I edit hello.tmpl in template directory as #attr title = "This is my Template" \${title} Hello \${who}! then issued cheetah-compile.exe .\hello.tmpl and get the hello.py In another python file runner.py , i have !/usr/bin/env python from Cheetah.Template import Template from template import hello def myMethod(): tmpl = hello.hello(searchList=[{'who' : 'world'}]) results = tmpl.respond() print tmpl if name == 'main': myMethod() But the outcome is ${title} Hello ${who}! Debugging for a while, i found that inside hello.py def respond(self, trans=None): ## CHEETAH: main method generated for this template if (not trans and not self._CHEETAH__isBuffering and not callable(self.transaction)): trans = self.transaction # is None unless self.awake() was called if not trans: trans = DummyTransaction() it looks like the trans is None, so it goes to DummyTransaction, what did I miss here? Any suggestions to how to fix it?
