    - by ahmet2106
    Hello everybody In my App I'm trying to get PSMTabBarControl working, but all I do - nothing... I have copied the framework File in my Frameworks folder of my App, then included it. In my InterfaceBuilder (1.3.2) I was able to drag and drop the PSMTabBarControl to my Window and link it with the NSTabView (PSM - tabView - NSTabView && NSTabView - delegate - PSM), but after i tried a Demo (apple+r) I cant see the Tabs... Tried all I can - but dont know why.. Am I doing sth. wrong? Which other Framework or Source I can use to create Tabs like Firefox oder Safari? Thank you!

  • Linq Aggregate function

    - by Nyla Pareska
    I have a List like "test", "bla", "something", "else" But when I use the Aggrate on it and in the mean time call a function it seems to me that after 2 'iterations' the result of the first gets passed in? I am using it like : myList.Aggregate((current, next) => someMethod(current) + ", "+ someMethod(next)); and while I put a breakpoint in the someMethod function where some transformation on the information in the myList occurs, I notice that after the 3rd call I get a result from a former transformation as input paramter.

    - by CccTrash
    For some reason my DataContext is not showing all the normal methods like SubmitChanges() etc in the intellisense. It also won't compile if I type in db.SubmitChanges(); Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Normally I don't have this issue, I have several other projects that work fine... • how to rotate around each record in linq and show that in view

    - by Sadegh
    Hi, I have four tables in my database and i want to join that's and return record's and show that into searchController! My query is this: public IQueryable PerformSearch(string query) { if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(query)) { var results = from tbl1 in context.Table1 join tbl2 in context.Table2 on tbl1.Id equals tbl2.Id join tbl3 in context.Table3 on tbl2.Id equals tbl3.Id join tbl4 in context.Table4 on tbl3.Id equals tbl4.Id where tbl1.col2.Contains(query) orderby tbl1.Count descending select new { col1 = tbl1.Col1, col1 = tbl1.Col1, col1 = tbl1.Col1, . . . }; return results.AsQueryable(); } else return null; } And this method called in SearchController as below: public class SearchController : System.Web.Mvc.Controller { public System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Search(System.String query) { var search = new Search(); ViewData["result"] = search.PerformSearch(query); return View("Search"); } } I don't know how i can rotate around each record (plus vs intellisense feature) returned by PeformSeach method and show that in view! Also is this a good way? thanks in advance

  • IGrouping and Casting in Linq

    - by FiveTools
    I have the following query: var groupCats = from g in groups group g by g.Value into grouped select new { GroupCategory = grouped.Key, Categories = GetCategories(grouped.Key, child) }; This works fine. In the anonymous type returned GroupCategory is a string, and Categories are an Enumerable - what is the proper way to declare this instead of using 'var'? I tried: IGrouping<string,string> groupCats = from g in groups group g by g.Value into grouped select new { GroupCategory = grouped.Key, Categories = GetCategories(grouped.Key, child) }; and IGrouping<string,Enumerable<string>> groupCats = from g in groups group g by g.Value into grouped select new { GroupCategory = grouped.Key, Categories = GetCategories(grouped.Key, child) }; In both instances I get: Cannot implicity convert type....An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast) How do I cast this?

  • How to optimize this Linq query

    - by Luke101
    I am trying to optimize this query. It is not slow for now but I am expecting a spike to hit this query in the near future. Is there anything else i can do to make this query faster? var posts = from p in context.post where p.post_isdeleted == false && p.post_parentid == null select new { p.post_date, p.post_id, p.post_titleslug, p.post_title, p.post_descriptionrender, p.userinfo.user_username, p.userinfo.user_userid, p.userinfo.user_GravatarHash, p.userinfo.user_points, p.category.catid, p.category.name, p.post_answercount, p.post_hasbestanswer, p.post_hits, p.post_isanonymous, p.post_votecount, FavoriteCount = context.favorites.Where(x => x.post.post_id == p.post_id).Count(), tags = from tg in context.posttag where tg.posttag_postid == p.post_id select new { tg.tag.tag_id, tg.tag.tag_title } };

  • Using DefaultIfEmpty in Linq - problem substituting a null value for a default value

    - by FiveTools
    I have questions that may or may not have a question_group if all the questions do not have a question_group and if I use default if empty like this: question_group defaultQuestion = new question_group {question_group_id = Guid.Empty}; questions.Select(x => x.question_group).DefaultIfEmpty(defaultQuestion).Distinct(); shouldn't I get an IEnumerable<question_group> containing only the default question_group that I defined? I get null.... what am I missing here?

  • Simplest way to use a DatagridView with Linq to SQL

    - by Martín Marconcini
    Hi, I have never used datagrids and such, but today I came across a simple problem and decided to "databind" stuff to finish this faster, however I've found that it doesn't work as I was expecting. I though that by doing something as simple as: var q = from cust in dc.Customers where cust.FirstName == someString select cust; var list = new BindingList<Customer>(q.ToList()); return list; Then using that list in a DataGridView1.DataSource was all that I needed, however, no matter how much I google, I can't find a decent example on how to populate (for add/edit/modify) the results of a single table query into a DataGridView1. Most samples talk about ASP.NET which I lack, this is WinForms. Any ideas? I've came across other posts and the GetNewBindingList, but that doesn't seem to change much. What am I missing (must be obvious)? Thanks in advance. Martin.

  • ASP.NET LINQ to SQL SubmitChanges() doesn't update the database

    - by Alex
    In my 2nd ASP.NET MVC project I'm facing a very weird problem: when I call the SubmitChanges method of the DataContext class, nothing updates in the database. It's weird because everything works fine with my first project. I'm using a remote database created in Sql Server Management Studio, I tried doing some queries there and in Visual Studio 2010 (where I have the connection to the database), they all work. Where might the problem be hidden?

  • Why Could Linq to Sql Submit Changes Fail for Updates Despite Data in Change Set

    - by KevDog
    I'm updating a set of objects, but the update fails on a SqlException that says "Incorrect Syntax near 'Where'". So I crack open SqlProfiler, and here is the generated SQL: exec sp_executesql N'UPDATE [dbo].[Addresses] SET WHERE ([AddressID] = @p0) AND ([StreetAddress] = @p1) AND ([StreetAddress2] = @p2) AND ([City] = @p3) AND ([State] = @p4) AND ([ZipCode] = @p5) AND ([CoordinateID] = @p6) AND ([CoordinateSourceID] IS NULL) AND ([CreatedDate] = @p7) AND ([Country] = @p8) AND (NOT ([IsDeleted] = 1)) AND (NOT ([IsNonSACOGZip] = 1))',N'@p0 uniqueidentifier,@p1 varchar(15),@p2 varchar(8000),@p3 varchar(10),@p4 varchar(2),@p5 varchar(5),@p6 uniqueidentifier,@p7 datetime,@p8 varchar(2)',@p0='92550F32-D921-4B71-9622-6F1EC6123FB1',@p1='125 Main Street',@p2='',@p3='Sacramento',@p4='CA',@p5='95864',@p6='725E7939-AEE3-4EF9-A033-7507579B69DF',@p7='2010-06-15 14:07:51.0100000',@p8='US' Sure enough, no set statement. I also called context.GetChangeSet() and the proper values are in the updates section. Also, I checked the .dbml file and all of the properties Update Check values are 'Always'. I am completely baffled on this one, any help out there?

  • Create LINQ to entities OrderBy expression on the fly

    - by AyKarsi
    I'm trying to add the orderby expression on the fly. But when the query below is executed I get the following exception: System.NotSupportedException: Unable to create a constant value of type 'Closure type'. Only primitive types ('such as Int32, String, and Guid') are supported in this context. The strange thing is, I am query exactly those primitive types only. string sortBy = HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["sidx"]; ParameterExpression prm = Expression.Parameter(typeof(buskerPosting), "posting"); Expression orderByProperty = Expression.Property(prm, sortBy); // get the paged records IQueryable<PostingListItemDto> query = (from posting in be.buskerPosting where posting.buskerAccount.cmsMember.nodeId == m.Id orderby orderByProperty //orderby posting.Created select new PostingListItemDto { Set = posting }).Skip<PostingListItemDto>((page - 1) * pageSize).Take<PostingListItemDto>(pageSize); Hope somebody can shed some light on this!

  • A better UPDATE method in LINQ to SQL

    - by Refracted Paladin
    The below is a typical, for me, Update method in L2S. I am still fairly new to a lot of this(L2S & business app development) but this just FEELs wrong. Like there MUST be a smarter way of doing this. Unfortunately, I am having trouble visualizing it and am hoping someone can provide an example or point me in the right direction. To take a stab in the dark, would I have a Person Object that has all these fields as Properties? Then what, though? Is that redundant since L2S already mapped my Person Table to a Class? Is this just 'how it goes', that you eventually end up passing 30 parameters(or MORE) to an UPDATE statement at some point? For reference, this is a business app using C#, WinForms, .Net 3.5, and L2S over SQL 2005 Standard. Here is a typical Update Call for me. This is in a file(BLLConnect.cs) with other CRUD methods. Connect is the name of the DB that holds tblPerson When a user clicks save() this is what is eventually called with all of these fields having, potentially, been updated-- public static void UpdatePerson(int personID, string userID, string titleID, string firstName, string middleName, string lastName, string suffixID, string ssn, char gender, DateTime? birthDate, DateTime? deathDate, string driversLicenseNumber, string driversLicenseStateID, string primaryRaceID, string secondaryRaceID, bool hispanicOrigin, bool citizenFlag, bool veteranFlag, short ? residencyCountyID, short? responsibilityCountyID, string emailAddress, string maritalStatusID) { using (var context = ConnectDataContext.Create()) { var personToUpdate = (from person in context.tblPersons where person.PersonID == personID select person).Single(); personToUpdate.TitleID = titleID; personToUpdate.FirstName = firstName; personToUpdate.MiddleName = middleName; personToUpdate.LastName = lastName; personToUpdate.SuffixID = suffixID; personToUpdate.SSN = ssn; personToUpdate.Gender = gender; personToUpdate.BirthDate = birthDate; personToUpdate.DeathDate = deathDate; personToUpdate.DriversLicenseNumber = driversLicenseNumber; personToUpdate.DriversLicenseStateID = driversLicenseStateID; personToUpdate.PrimaryRaceID = primaryRaceID; personToUpdate.SecondaryRaceID = secondaryRaceID; personToUpdate.HispanicOriginFlag = hispanicOrigin; personToUpdate.CitizenFlag = citizenFlag; personToUpdate.VeteranFlag = veteranFlag; personToUpdate.ResidencyCountyID = residencyCountyID; personToUpdate.ResponsibilityCountyID = responsibilityCountyID; personToUpdate.EmailAddress = emailAddress; personToUpdate.MaritalStatusID = maritalStatusID; personToUpdate.UpdateUserID = userID; personToUpdate.UpdateDateTime = DateTime.Now; context.SubmitChanges(); } }

  • LINQ to SQL - Grouping categories by parentId

    - by creativeincode
    I am trying to construct a navigation menu using a Categories table from my db. I have a similar layout as below in Categories table. public List<Category> CategoryData = new List(new Category[] { new Category{ CategoryId = 1, Name = "Fruit", ParentCategoryId = null}, new Category{ CategoryId = 2, Name = "Vegetables", ParentCategoryId = null}, new Category{ CategoryId = 3, Name = "Apples", ParentCategoryId = 1}, new Category{ CategoryId = 4, Name = "Bananas", ParentCategoryId = 1}, new Category{ CategoryId = 5, Name = "Cucumber", ParentCategoryId = 2}, new Category{ CategoryId = 6, Name = "Onions", ParentCategoryId = 2} ); } The above should return something like Fruit (parent) "===Apples, Bananas (child) Vegetables (parent) "===Cucumber, Onions (child) I need to be able to pass this as some kind of 'grouped' (grouped by parentid) collection to my View. How to do this?
