  • PrincipalPermission - roles seperate from permissions

    - by Leblanc Meneses
    I've been using PrincipalPermission for a while in wcf services. [PrincipalPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Role = SecurityRoles.CanManageUsers)] although now i have a requirement to simplify roles by business unit. - currently aspnet_roles has fine grained can* permissions. Here is my approach and wanted to see if anyone can provide feedback, code review before i implement my suggestion. 1) aspnet_roles - business unit role 2) create permission table and Role_Permission table and User_Permission table (many to many) 3) create custom CodeAccessSecurityAttribute + that looks at new tables [CustomPermissionCheck(Security.Demand, HasPermission="can*")] first iteration i'll statically new the dependent repository.. ideally i would like an aop style attribute that has repository injected IPermissionRepository.HasPermission(...); If i approach new aop way i probably will stop inheriting from CodeAccessSecurityAttribute -- what do the security guys have to say about this? has anyone else solved this, is there something in the framework that i've missed?

  • How can I share an OnEnter event for a TcxGrid ?

    - by Roland Bengtsson
    I want to standardize the behaviour on an Devexpress TcxGrid. So I have a unit ClientData with a event: procedure TClientData.grdOnEnter(Sender: TObject); begin mnuCxGridStandardMenu.Grid := TcxGrid(Sender); end; If I try to use that event from a TcxGrid.OnEnter event in another unit it refuse to work. If I paste in ClientData.grdOnEnter then a dialog says it is not an valid identifier. Is it possible to share an event for several units in Delphi 2007 ?

  • Strange Scala error.

    - by Lukasz Lew
    I tried to create abstract turn based Game and abstract AI: abstract class AGame { type Player type Move // Player inside def actPlayer : Player def moves (player : Player) : Iterator[Move] def play (move : Move) def undo () def isFinished : Boolean def result (player : Player) : Double } abstract class Ai[Game <: AGame] { def genMove (player : Game#Player) : Game#Move } class DummyGame extends AGame { type Player = Unit type Move = Unit def moves (player : Player) = new Iterator[Move] { def hasNext = false def next = throw new Exception ("asd") } def actPlayer = () def play (move : Move) { } def undo () { } def isFinished = true def result (player : Player) = 0 } class DummyAi[Game <: AGame] (game : Game) extends Ai[Game] { override def genMove (player : Game#Player) : Game#Move = { game.moves (player).next } } I thought that I have to use this strange type accessors like Game#Player. I get very puzzling error. I would like to understand it: [error] /home/lew/Devel/CGSearch/src/main/scala/Main.scala:41: type mismatch; [error] found : Game#Player [error] required: DummyAi.this.game.Player [error] game.moves (player).next [error] ^

  • jQuery fadeIn IE Png Issue when loading from external

    - by Adam Stone
    I am loading data from external html files within my domain into a div on my webpage using a load content method in jQuery. I take the div out of the new page whilst hiding the div in the current page by fading this out and fading the new one in. There is a png image in both of these divs and it is creating horrid black blobs in IE, works fine in other browsers but due to IEs inability to process multiple filters its making a mess. I tried using the unit png fix to no avail, does anyone have any fixes or ideas to help keep my pngs looking nice during this transition? i46.tinypic.com/t9dtvr.jpg this is a screenshot of the problem, cheers also discovered that the png that is on the page originaly (before loading anything new) fades in and out perfectly using the unit png fix but stuff loading in and then back out from external files doesnt. Ive added the fix to those pages too but that doesnt work either.

  • Is there a way to know in VB.NET if a handler has been registered for an event?

    - by Seth Spearman
    In C# I can test for this... public event EventHandler Trigger; protected void OnTrigger(EventArgs e) { if (Trigger != null) Trigger(this, e); } Is there a way to do this in VB.NET? Test for null I mean? MORE INFO I forgot to mention. I have classes written in C# but I am writing my unit tests in VB.NET. I am trying this in the unit test... If myObject.Trigger IsNot Nothing Then 'do something End If This is causing a compile time error which says ... "Public Event Trigger is an Event and cannot be called directly. Use the RaiseEvent statement to raise an event." Seth

  • Python code formatting

    - by Curious2learn
    In response to another question of mine, someone suggested that I avoid long lines in the code and to use PEP-8 rules when writing Python code. One of the PEP-8 rules suggested avoiding lines which are longer than 80 characters. I changed a lot of my code to comply with this requirement without any problems. However, changing the following line in the manner shown below breaks the code. Any ideas why? Does it have to do with the fact that what follows return command has to be in a single line? The line longer that 80 characters: def __str__(self): return "Car Type \n"+"mpg: %.1f \n" % self.mpg + "hp: %.2f \n" %(self.hp) + "pc: %i \n" %self.pc + "unit cost: $%.2f \n" %(self.cost) + "price: $%.2f "%(self.price) The line changed by using Enter key and Spaces as necessary: def __str__(self): return "Car Type \n"+"mpg: %.1f \n" % self.mpg + "hp: %.2f \n" %(self.hp) + "pc: %i \n" %self.pc + "unit cost: $%.2f \n" %(self.cost) + "price: $%.2f "%(self.price)

  • When is a scala partial function not a partial function?

    - by Fred Haslam
    While creating a map of String to partial functions I ran into unexpected behavior. When I create a partial function as a map element it works fine. When I allocate to a val it invokes instead. Trying to invoke the check generates an error. Is this expected? Am I doing something dumb? Comment out the check() to see the invocation. I am using scala 2.7.7 def PartialFunctionProblem() = { def dream()() = { println("~Dream~"); new Exception().printStackTrace() } val map = scala.collection.mutable.HashMap[String,()=>Unit]() map("dream") = dream() // partial function map("dream")() // invokes as expected val check = dream() // unexpected invocation check() // error: check of type Unit does not take parameters }

  • Fleunt NHibernate not working outside of nunit test fixtures

    - by thorkia
    Okay, here is my problem... I created a Data Layer using the RTM Fluent Nhibernate. My create session code looks like this: _session = Fluently.Configure(). Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard.UsingFile("Data.s3db")) .Mappings( m => { m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ProductMap>(); m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ProductLogMap>(); }) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); When I reference the module in a test project, then create a test fixture that looks something like this: [Test] public void CanAddProduct() { var product = new Product {Code = "9", Name = "Test 9"}; IProductRepository repository = new ProductRepository(); repository.AddProduct(product); using (ISession session = OrmHelper.OpenSession()) { var fromDb = session.Get<Product>(product.Id); Assert.IsNotNull(fromDb); Assert.AreNotSame(fromDb, product); Assert.AreEqual(fromDb.Id, product.Id); } My tests pass. When I open up the created SQLite DB, the new Product with Code 9 is in it. the tables for Product and ProductLog are there. Now, when I create a new console application, and reference the same library, do something like this: Product product = new Product() {Code = "10", Name = "Hello"}; IProductRepository repository = new ProductRepository(); repository.AddProduct(product); Console.WriteLine(product.Id); Console.ReadLine(); It doesn't work. I actually get pretty nasty exception chain. To save you lots of head aches, here is the summary: Top Level exception: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail.\r\n\r\n The PotentialReasons collection is empty The Inner exception: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Both the unit test library and the console application reference the exact same version of System.Data.SQLite. Both projects have the exact same DLLs in the debug folder. I even tried copying SQLite DB the unit test library created into the debug directory of the console app, and removed the build schema lines and it still fails If anyone can help me figure out why this won't work outside of my unit tests it would be greatly appreciated. This crazy bug has me at a stand still.

  • ActionView::MissingTemplate after Rails 3.1 upgrade

    - by jonallard
    After upgrading to Rails 3.1.0 and following David Rice's instructions, all of my controllers strangely can't find their views anymore. # rails s # Started GET "/units" for 127.0.0.1 at 2011-09-04 07:52:23 -0400 Unit Load (0.1ms) SELECT "units".* FROM "units" ActionView::MissingTemplate (Missing template units/index, application/index with {:handlers=>[:erb, :builder], :formats=>[:html], :locale=>[:en, :en]}. Searched in: ): app/controllers/units_controller.rb:9:in `index' units_controller.rb: # GET /units # GET /units.xml def index @units = Unit.all respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @units } end end Of course, the view is there (/app/views/units/index.html.erb; it was working before the upgrade). I feel this is a stupid error, what am I missing here?

  • Ruby get inheriting class

    - by Brian D.
    I'm working on creating my first plugin for rails. I'm still pretty new to ruby and I was wondering if its possible to get the inheriting class? For example, I'm trying to create a plugin that will allow unit testing and functional testing when you are not using migrations. What I'm trying to do is initialize a class variable named controller to be initialized to the type of controller that is being tested. If I have a base class ControllerTest: class ControllerTest < Test::Unit::TestCase attr_accessor :controller def initialize super @controller = "call function that will find the inheriting classes name and create an instance of that controller type." end end So what I'm currently stuck on is getting the name of the inheriting class. Is this possible? And if not, does anyone know another way on how I could go about implementing this? Thanks in advance.

  • Anyone have experience calling Rake from MSBuild for code gen and other benefits? How did it go? Wha

    - by Charlie Flowers
    While programming in C# using Visual Studio 2008, I often wish for "automatic" code generation. If possible, I'd like to achieve it by making my MSBuild solution file call out to Rake, which would call Ruby code for the code generation, having the resulting generated files automatically appear in my solution. Here's one business example (of many possible examples I could name) where this kind of automatic code generation would be helpful. In a recent project I had an interface with some properties that contained dollar amounts. I wanted a second interface and a third interface that had the same properties as the first interface, except they were "qualified" with a business unit name. Something like this: public interface IQuarterlyResults { double TotalRevenue { get; set; } double NetProfit { get; set; } } public interface IConsumerQuarterlyResults { double ConsumerTotalRevenue { get; set; } double ConsumerNetProfit { get; set; } } public interface ICorporateQuarterResults { double CorporateTotalRevenue { get; set; } double CorporateNetProfit { get; set; } } In this example, there is a "Consumer Business Unit" and a "Corporate Business Unit". Every property on IQuarterlyResults becomes a property called "Corporate" + [property name] on ICorporateQuarterlyResults, and likewise for IConsumerQuarterlyResults. Why make interfaces for these, rather than merely having an instance of IQuarterlyResults for Consumer and another instance for Corporate? Because, when working with the calculator object I was building, the user had to deal with 100's of properties, and it is much less confusing if he can deal with "fully qualified" property names such as "ConsumerNetProfit". But let's not get bogged down in this example. It is only an example and not the main question. The main question is this: I love using Ruby and ERB for code generation, and I love using Rake to manage dependencies between tasks. To solve the problem above, what I'd like to do is have MSBuild call out to Rake, and have Rake / Ruby read the list of properties on the "core" interface and then generate the code to make all the dependent interfaces and their properties. This would get triggered every time I do a build, because I'd put it into the MSBuild file for the VS.NET solution. Has anyone tried anything like this? How did it work out for you? What insights can you share about pros, cons, tips for success, etc.? Thanks!

  • ruby tests - error messages don't include line numbers or file name

    - by joshs
    Hi all, How do I get line numbers to be reported with my errors when testing. Here is what I get back on a typical error: josh@josh-laptop:~/d/test$ ruby unit/line_test.rb -n test_update Loaded suite unit/line_test Started E Finished in 0.066663 seconds. 1) Error: test_update(LineTest): NameError: undefined local variable or method `sdf' for #<LineTest:0xb6e61304> 1 tests, 0 assertions, 0 failures, 1 errors It is tough to debug without a line number and filename. From the code samples I've seen, people generally get back a more verbose error reports. How do I enable this? Thanks!

  • Solutions for redundant server and client code?

    - by Fragsworth
    In our system, the code which exists on the client side (in Flash and Javascript) mirrors the code that exists on the server side (e.g. in Python or PHP), normally with respect to the models, the methods available for those models, and the unit tests written for them. This becomes a problem in systems where you want to minimize data transfer (e.g. multiplayer games). I do not want to write the same code and unit tests redundantly for both the client and server, but I don't know of any standard solutions to deal with this. Basically, I want a language/compiler which can produce models and methods for three main languages: Actionscript, Javascript, and any server language. Does something like this exist?

  • Devising a test strategy

    - by Simon Callan
    As part of a new job, I have to devise and implement a complete test strategy for the companies new product. So far, all I really know about it is that it is written in C++, uses an SQL database and has a web API which is used by a browser client written using GWT. As far as I know, there isn't much of an existing strategy, except for using Python scripts to test the web API. I need to develop and implement a suitable strategy for unit, system, regression and release testing, preferably a fully automated one. I'm looking for good references for : Devising the complete test strategy. Testing the web API. Testing the GWT based application. Unit testing C++ code. In addition, any suitable tools would be appreciate

  • ajax and servlet

But when using it in the servlet it return a null value. So the problem that the servlet return the parameter received but did not able to use it. What should I do to resolve it. Many thinks.

    Hi, iam trying to write an unit test for an Controller wich calls the Twitter API through an Service class. /** * Authenticate Step 1 for Twitter */ public function authenticateAction() { $this->service->authenticate(); } The Service does: /** * Authenticate with twitter * * @return void */ public function authenticate() { $consumer = new Zend_Oauth_Consumer($this->config); $token = $consumer->getRequestToken(); $this->session->twitterRequestToken = serialize($token); $consumer->redirect(); exit; } My Problem is, i have no idea to repleace the authenticate action inside the service for the unit test. I dont want to call the Twitter API while the tests run. Is there any Mocking Framework wich can do such things?

  • eclipse: calling organizeimports programmatcally

    - by Stefan Roka
    Hi, I'm trying to execute 'OrganizeImports' programmatically on files that I'm editing programmatically. My code looks like this: final ICommandService cmdService = (ICommandService)PlatformUI.getWorkbench().getService (ICommandService.class); if (cmdService != null) { final Command cmd = cmdService.getCommand(IJavaEditorActionDefinitionIds.ORGANIZE_IMPORTS); final ExecutionEvent execEvt = new ExecutionEvent(cmd, Collections.EMPTY_MAP, compileationUnit, null); PlatformUI.getWorkbench().getActiveWorkbenchWindow().getActivePage(); ResourcesPlugin.getWorkspace(). Display.getDefault().syncExec(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { try { //cmd.executeWithChecks(execEvt); cmd.execute(execEvt); } catch (Exception e) { getLogger().severe("organize imports failed: " + e.getMessage()); } } My problem is that OrganizeImportsAction executes on the current selection which is not the same as the compilation unit I'm editing. I would like to set the selection programmatically on the compilation unit but I don't know how to do that. Or maybe there is another way to trigger OrganizeImports. thanks, stefan

  • Do invariant assertions fit into C# programming?

    - by P.Brian.Mackey
    In the book coders at work, the author asks "How do you use invariants in your code". Please explain what this question means. I saw class invariants on wiki, but the example is in Java and I am not skilled enough in Java to relate this example to C#. .NET 4.0 introduces invariance, covariance, and contravariance and is well explained here. Invariance is so broad. The authors usage of the word seems unit test related. For those that read the book, what does the author mean? Are we talking about making an assumption and simply testing the validity after the unit test?

  • Group MySQL Data into Arbitrarily Sized Time Buckets

    - by Eric J.
    How do I count the number of records in a MySQL table based on a timestamp column per unit of time where the unit of time is arbitrary? Specifically, I want to count how many record's timestamps fell into 15 minute buckets during a given interval. I understand how to do this in buckets of 1 second, 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day etc. using MySQL date functions, e.g. SELECT YEAR(datefield) Y, MONTH(datefield) M, DAY(datefield) D, COUNT(*) Cnt FROM mytable GROUP BY YEAR(datefield), MONTH(datefield), DAY(datefield) but how can I group by 15 minute buckets?

  • Code in Global.asax prevents webpage from loading

    - by pete the pagan-gerbil
    I've made a static class to hold a number of configuration values (and also swap these values out in unit tests). If I initialise it in the Global.asax, the code runs correctly but the page doesn't load at all, and trying to navigate to a specific page fails. I can't initialise the values in a constructor or inline on the field declarations, because I need to be able to swap the values out in unit tests before the web.config is interrogated. Basically, putting the one line "ConfigClass.SetValues()" in the Global.asax prevents the app from loading correctly (although, as I say, it runs the code fine) and removing it again makes the app load properly - but without the class values initialised. As an aside, I'm sure I had this working correctly and being initialised in the Global.asax yesterday. I'm positive I didn't take any action to change or break it... Does anyone have advice on how I might track down what's going on here? Was I mistaken that it worked before (always possible) and that I need to go back and redesign something?

  • Type patterns in Haskell

    - by finnsson
    I'm trying to compile a simple example of generic classes / type patterns (see http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/latest/html/users_guide/generic-classes.html) in Haskell but it won't compile. Any ideas about what's wrong with the code would be helpful. According to the documentation there should be a module Generics with the data types Unit, :*:, and :+: but ghc (6.12.1) complaints about Not in scope: data constructor 'Unit' etc. It seems like there's a package instant-generics with the data types :*:, :+: and U but when I import that module (instead of Generics) I get the error Illegal type pattern in the generic bindings {myPrint _ = ""} The complete source code is import Generics.Instant class MyPrint a where myPrint :: a -> String myPrint {| U |} _ = "" myPrint {| a :*: b |} (x :*: y) = "" (show x) ++ ":*:" ++ (show y) myPrint {| a :+: b |} _ = "" data Foo = Foo String instance MyPrint a => MyPrint a main = myPrint $ Foo "hi" and I compile it using ghc --make Foo.hs -fglasgow-exts -XGenerics -XUndecidableInstances P.S. • ASP.NET MVC NullReferenceException when inheriting from a Base Controller
