• Problem getting Java Streams in HP Tandem (Non-Stop)

  Hi. We are porting a simple Java application between Tandem NonStop systems, from G-Series to H-Series. Java version is 1.5.0_02. When performing basic I/O tasks like getting output stream from or opening a client socket, we receive exceptions like java.io.IOException: Value out of range or java.net.SocketException: Value out of range ("value out of range" is Tandem native jargon for, well, quite everything I suppose). Has anybody got similar issues? i.e. I/O corruption while for example messing with JNI? I suppose there is something wrong with the system, but where might it be? Thank you. • Unable to capture standard output of process using Boost.Process

  Currently am using Boost.Process from the Boost sandbox, and am having issues getting it to capture my standard output properly; wondering if someone can give me a second pair of eyeballs into what I might be doing wrong. I'm trying to take thumbnails out of RAW camera images using DCRAW (latest version), and capture them for conversion to QT QImage's. Currently, if I comment out the following line: args.push_back("-c"); then the thumbnail is written by DCRAW to the source directory with a name of CFK_2439.thumb.jpg, which proves to me that the process is getting invoked with the right arguments. What's not happening is connecting to the output pipe properly. FWIW: I'm performing this test on Windows XP under Eclipse 3.5/Latest MingW (GCC 4.4).

  I'm writing a script that is supposed to run around a bunch of servers and select a bunch of data out of them, including the local server. The SQL needed to SELECT the data I need is pretty complicated, so I'm writing sort of an ad-hoc view, and using an OPENQUERY statement to get the data, so ultimately I end up looping over a statement like this: exec('INSERT INTO tabl SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(@Server, @AdHocView)') However, I've heard that using OPENQUERY on the local server is frowned upon. Could someone elaborate as to why?

  I'm trying to get a list of stored procedures in t-sql. I am using the line: exec sys.sp_stored_procedures; I would like to filter the results back though, so I only get user created stored procedures. I would like to filter out sp_*, dt_*, fn_*, xp_* and everything else that is a system stored procedure and no interest to me. How can I manipulate the result set returned? Using Sql Server 2008 express.

• Why wont my if statement work, in my stored procedure

• Restoring multiple database backups in a transaction

  I wrote a stored procedure that restores as set of the database backups. It takes two parameters - a source directory and a restore directory. The procedure looks for all .bak files in the source directory (recursively) and restores all the databases. The stored procedure works as expected, but it has one issue - if I uncomment the try-catch statements, the procedure terminates with the following error: error_number = 3013 error_severity = 16 error_state = 1 error_message = DATABASE is terminating abnormally. The weird part is sometimes (it is not consistent) the restore is done even if the error occurs. Another question: is the transaction code useful ? i.e., if there are 2 databases to be restored, will SQL Server undo the restore of one database if the second restore fails?

• MySQL DUMP as CSV

  I've looked around and nothing seems to work: $file = '/path/to/file.csv'; $cmd = 'mysqldump DATABASE TABLE > '.$file.' --host=localhost --user=USER --password=PASS'; $cmd .= ' --lock-tables=false --no-create-info --tab=/tmp --fields-terminated-by=\',\''; exec($cmd); Everything I try creates an empty CSV file. Any ideas? Thanks much.
