How do I setup the virtual machine so I can access the website from a browser on the host machine. The host machine is also running WinXP.   I am unable to access certain websites from my PC viz. google.com, gmail.com , stackoverflow.com, etc. However, I am able to access facebook.com, twitter.com, infoq.com etc. Currently I am accessing Google via proxy server. I suspect that the problem might exist with websites that have used ASP for scripting. Please suggest a solution to the problem that I am facing.

• How to give friend access to git repository without giving command line access?

  I have some git repositories running on my server and I would like to give a friend read/write access to one. That's simple: I add him as a user, give him SSH access, and change the permissions to the repository folder. Everything works fine; I'm able to clone the git repository using Xcode and change things (ssh://www.example.com/repo.git). However, I do not want him to have command line access. If I recall correctly, Github does not give command line access to those who SSH in. I'm using Snow Leopard Server. Is this more of a server issue or a git issue? Do you have any idea where to begin? Setting the user's Login Shell to none (as opposed to /bin/bash) cuts off access to everything.

• How to whitelist external access to an internal webserver via Cisco ACLs?

  This is our company's internet gateway router. This is what I want to accomplish on our Cisco 2691 router: All employees need to be able to have unrestricted access to the internet (I've blocked facebook with an ACL, but other than that, full access) There is an internal webserver that should be accessible from any internal IP address, but only a select few external IP addresses. Basically, I want to whitelist access from outside the network. I don't have a hardware firewall appliance. Until now, the webserver has not needed to be accessible externally... or in any case, the occasional VPN has sufficed when needed. As such, the following config has been sufficient: access-list 106 deny ip 66.220.144.0 0.0.7.255 any access-list 106 deny ip ... (so on for the Facebook blocking) access-list 106 permit ip any any ! interface FastEthernet0/0 ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.248 ip access-group 106 in ip nat outside fa0/0 is the interface with the public IP However, when I add... ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.0.52 80 x.x.x.x 80 extendable ...in order to forward web traffic to the webserver, that just opens it up entirely. If I add a line to the ACL to explicitly permit (whitelist) an IP range... something like this: access-list 106 permit tcp x.x.x.x 0.0.255.255 192.168.0.52 0.0.0.0 eq 80 ... how do I then block other external access to the webserver while still maintaining unrestricted internet access for internal employees? I tried removing the access-list 106 permit ip any any. That ended up being a very short-lived config :) Would something like access-list 106 permit ip 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.255 any on an "outside-inbound" work?

  After upgrading my server (HP DL360p Gen8) to the latest ILO 4.30 I have such error What should I do and how to fix my problem? I do not have physical access to my server and so now I have no access at all (I still have ILO with no remote console) I think probably I should use "back-up" copy of ilo if it stored on server... or should I reupload some another ILO version? upd I've noticed that undefined link is "https:///html/undefined", i think I can try "hack" and just type direct link to "remote" page, but i do not have an address. It should be something like "https:///html/remote.html" Probably someone, who has access to ilo, can give me a link?

• Print jobs sent to server OK, but then get deleted

  I have 2 HP computers, one running Win XP SP3, one running Win7. I have a Lexmark X4270 All-in-One printer attached to the Win7 machine via a USB port. I can print OK from the Win 7 machine, but when I print from the WinXP machine, the print job shows up in both print queues (showing the same number of bytes - which is good!), but then the status gets changed to "Deleting - Sent to printer", and that status shows up in both print queues. The print job then stays there until I do a cancel, followed by a system restart. FWIW the owner is shown as Guest, but I have permission for Everyone set to print... I believe I have up-to-date drivers; I don't believe it's a firewall problem. What I would like to see is the Win7 machine's reason for deleting my print jobs - is there a diagnostic tool available? Also, I notice that the port for this printer on the WinXP machine is set to USB001 - I would have thought something like \servername\sharedprinter would be more appropriate - and I can see that in the list of ports, but the system doesn't let me change the port name from USB001... Could someone shed some light? I have spent hours on this! TIA BTW I can do file sharing, no problem!

• How to disallow use of disable_functions in?

  I'm obviously not the first one to have this problem, but I cannot not find an answer to this situation. I want to lock down PHP a bit, more specifically the use disable_functions. The environment is CentOS 6.2/PHP 5.3.3 fcgid/Apache 2.2.15: Whats the proper apache config (AllowOverride, etc) to disable any PHP setting to be changed via .htaccess? All other overrides are ok (current setting is AllowOverride All) Whats the proper config to forbid effective use of disable_functions in all but the master php.ini (as in forbid use of disable_functions in /home/myvhost/etc/php5/php.ini or any directory within in that vhost public_html. another way to say this: the only effective disable_functions comes from the master php.ini)? If #2 is not possible, at least whats the proper config to disallow a vhost owner to effectively use any php.ini but the vhost main one (/home/myvhost/etc/php5/php.ini)? Thanks

  Receiving HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable when trying to access exchange web access. Server 2003 & Exchange 2003 Have tried: Deleting virtual directories and rebuilding them in IIS Restarting Dismounting & mounting the public folder store & mailbox store It's not AppPoolQueueLength Restarting all services (all proper ones are running) Making it use ssl or not (regular http) -- same thing for both Installing IIS & exchange 2003 on a new 2003 box as a new FE server, OWA on that gets same error. Not sure why it's getting a 503... was working without an issue and randomly is stuck at this no matter what; ll users can still successfully connect and use via outlook, only the web access is having issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• Host Primary Domain from a subfolder

  I am having a problem making a sub directory act as the public_html for my main domain, and getting a solution that works with that domains sub directories too. My hosting allows me to host multiple sites, which are all working great. I have set up a subfolder under my ~/public_html/ directory called /domains/, where I create a folder for each separate website. e.g. public_html domains websiteone websitetwo websitethree ... This keeps my sites nice and tidy. The only issue was getting my "main domain" to fit into this system. It seems my main domain, is somehow tied to my account (or to Apache, or something), so I can't change the "document root" of this domain. I can define the document roots for any other domains ("Addon Domains") that I add in cPanel no problem. But the main domain is different. I was told to edit the .htaccess file, to redirect the main domain to a subdirectory. This seemed to work great, and my site works fine on it's home/index page. The problem I'm having is that if I try to navigate my browser to say the images folder (just for example) of my main site, like this: www.yourmaindomain.com/images/ then it seems to ignore the redirect and shows the entire server directory in the url, like this: www.yourmaindomain.com/domains/yourmaindomain/images/ It still actually shows the correct "Index of /images" page, and show the list of all my images. I checked system load with "ps -ef | grep -i php" (because the server is hosting domains for clients using SuPHP and cpanel) and I see many of the blogs have wp-cron.php in memory, sometimes several of the same domain running several copies of wp-cron.php. Is this wp-cron.php loaded so much a normal thing with WordPress? Or is it a misconfiguration?

• Using pscp and getting permission denied

  I'm using pscp to transfer files to a virtual ubuntu server using this command: pscp test.php user@server:/var/www/test.php and I get the error permission denied. If I try to transfer to the folder /home/user/ I have no problems. I guess this has to do with that the user I'm using doesn't have access to the folder /var/www/. When I use SSH I have to use sudo to get access to the /var/www/ path - and I do. Is it possible to specify that pscp should "sudo" transfers to the server so I can get access to the /var/www/ path and actually be able to transfer files to this folder?

• Windows user cannot connect via application, but can via Remote Desktop

  I have an application (ASG-Zena) giving an 1385 error (Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer) when trying to run a batch job. I have checked on "Access this computer from the network" includes Everyone and Administrators and many others. "Deny access to this computer from the network" make sure that Guest is not listed there. If you still have problems, then maybe make sure that nothing is listed there. Administrative tools...local security policy..security options "Network access sharing and security model for local accounts" there are 2 options either classic or 'guest only'. Mine is set to classic. (These diagnostics come from this post) The account in question is added to the Administrator group on this computer. I know the login is valid because I regularly login to the server via remote Desktop. What other settings should I check?
