• Cannot bind to list<T>.property or list<T>.item.property in details section of Telerik report

  I have created a Telerik report and I am setting the datasource on runtime to an object with some properties and a List. I am using the properties in the page and report header sections and i want to use the list as the details. Now the problem is binding to the List's item properties in the details section. I have played around with the expression builder and it seems that i should access the properties like this : [=Fields.myList.Item.myProperty] when i run the program i get a nice big red rectangle with the following error : An error has occured while processing TextBox 'textBox28':Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program. I have tried to change different variants of expression which also gives me other errors [=Fields.myList.myPropery] An error has occured while processing TextBox 'textBox28': The expression contains object 'myProperty' that is not defined in the current context. The closest i have gotton was with the object it self, which outputs the object.toString() [=Fields.myList]

  How can I hide the New / Actions / Upload / Settings menus within a list or document library in SharePoint? Note that I need to be able to hide these menus for a particular list definition (template) and not just all lists or document libraries. One possible way that I know of is to register a , and set the ControlClass element to a control that inherits from WebControl. In the WebControl, I can override OnPreRender, which then does this: foreach (Control control in this.Parent.Controls) { if (control.ToString() == "Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.NewMenu") { control.Visible = false; } // etc } This is pretty hacky, and I was just wondering if there is a better way of doing it?

  I'm using OleDbDataReader rdr to read a "Comments" field in BLOB form (sub_type 1 segment size 80) into a string from an Interbase DB, and I keep getting exceptions. Any suggestions?   I'm learning android/java and have this example code I can't get to work: OnRatingBarChangeListener l = new OnRatingBarChangeListener() { public void onRatingChanged(RatingBar ratingBar, float rating, boolean fromTouch) { Integer myPos=(Integer)ratingBar.getTag(); RowModel model=getModel(myPos); model.rating = rating; LinearLayout p=(LinearLayout)ratingBar.getParent(); TextView l=(TextView)p.findViewById(R.id.label); l.setText(model.toString()); } }; Everything works except the LinearLayout / getParent() downcast. At runtime it creates a ClassCastException. If I comment out that block of code then everthing works fine. What am I missing?

• Is there a faster way to download a page from the net to a string?

  I have tried other methods to download info from a URL, but needed a faster one. I need to download and parse about 250 separate pages, and would like the app to not appear ridiculously slow.   I have a simple test code for testing SimpleDateFormat. This code works well on Eclipse and Android 1.5 emulator, but it failed at Android 2.0 emulator. Does anyone know why? • What is your prefered way to return XML from an ActionMethod in Asp.net MVC?

  I am displaying charts that load the data asynchronously because the searches are the work to fetch the data is quite heavy. The data has to be return as XML to make the chart library happy. My ActionMethods return a ContentResult with the type set as text/xml. I build my Xml using Linq to XML and call ToString. This works fine but it's not ideal to test. I have another idea to achieve this which would be to return a view that builds my XML using the XSLT View engine. I am curious and I always try to do the things "the right way". So how are you guys handling such scenarios? Do you implement a different ViewEngine (like xslt) to build your XML or do you Build your XML inside your controller (Or the service that serves your controller)?

  It is supposed to be generally preferable to use a StringBuilder for String concatenation in Java. Is it always the case? What i mean is : Is the overhead of creating a StringBuilder object, calling the append() method and finally toString() smaller then concatenating existing Strings with + for 2 Strings already or is it only advisable for more Strings? If there is such a threshold, what does it depend on (the String length i suppose, but in which way)? And finally - would you trade the readability and conciseness of the + concatenation for the performance of the StringBuilder in smaller cases like 2, 3, 4 Strings?

  Hi, I've generated a pdf using iTextSharp and I can preview it very well in ASP.Net but I need to send it directly to printer without a preview. I want the user to click the print button and automatically the document prints. I know that a page can be sent directly to printer using the javascript window.print() but I don't know how to make it for a PDF. Edit: it is not embedded, I generate it like this; ...   I have a picture on a given URL. The picture might need a referesh. I want to do the freshness-check at the time of the request. Therefore, I coded a jersey resource handling the request on the picture URL. It refreshes the picture on the filesystem if necessary. I do not want to re-code a caching mechansim, but rely on tomcat's implementation. Therefore, I would like to "forward" the request in the internal handler chain. I tried return new Viewable(sb.toString());, but a viewable is not a picture. What return type can I use? I could let the concrete picture reside on another URL and send a 307 (Temporary Redirect). I converted the following string to Bytes and passed into the printer. ^XA ^FO3,3^AD^FDZEBRA^FS ^XZ The expected outcome was that the printer was supposed to print 'ZEBRA' but it didn't. However, at runtime in either a window app or console, you'll get true: object t1 = "a"; object t2 = "a"; MessageBox.Show((t1 == t2).ToString()); // outputs true The runtime behavior is consistent with the definition for the == operator and strings.   Hi, I am using the Apache HTTPClient for Java and I'm facing a really strange issue. Sometimes when I try to get a dynamically generated page it returns its actual content, but other times (with another parameter) all I get is a short sequence of \t,\r and \n. How could I track what's going on on the different cases in order to find where is the bug?
