• ASP.net: Efficient ways to convert DataSets to GenericCollection (Of ObjectType)

  I currently have a function that gets some data from the database and puts it into a dataset. The return type on my function is GenericCollection (Of CustomerDetails) If I do this: Dim dataset As DataSet = Read(strSQL.ToString) 'Gets Data from DB What's the most efficient way to map the dataset results to an collection of objects. More importantly, since I'm using GenericCollection, is there a way to do this in which I can call a function from the ObjectType class (CustomerDetails) that would have a means to converting that specific object. Or is there a way in which I can use a function that would handle all types? Is there a way to do something like: Return returnedResults.TransformDataSet(dataset) In which returnedResults is an object collection Of CustomerDetails, or would it simply be easier to have TransformDataSet return an object collection Of CustomerDetails by itself?   In my code behind (c#) I dynamically created some RadioButtonLists with more RadioButtons in each of them. I put all controls to a specific Panel. What I need to know is how to access those controls later as they are not created in .aspx file (with drag and drop from toolbox)?   I enabled text filtering on my ListView in the expected way; adding android:textFilterEnabled=”true” in resource definition and (as I'm using a SimpleCursorAdapter) setting a FilterQueryProvider that provides a filtered cursor like so: public Cursor runQuery(CharSequence constraint) { Cursor cur = mDba.fetchTrackers(mCurrentGroupId, constraint.toString()); startManagingCursor(cur); return cur; } My question is this: once the user selects a list item, goes off to another activity, and returns to this one, how can I control the state of the filter previously applied? What I'm seeing right now is that when I return to the activity, the cursor being used is the unfiltered one set on the filter at creation, but the filter text they typed is still shown (and typing keys causes the filter to be applied). What I'd like to do is either clear the filter, or keep the filtered cursor that the activity was left with.

  I am trying to create a method in which I can exequte mysql UPDATE, DELETE or INSERT query. The method must work when with an INSERT I ask or do not ask the last_insert_id(). • C# - Listing class properties like Immediate window

  Hi, I store a few classes in session. I want to be able to see the values of my class properties in trace viewer. By default I only the Type name MyNamespace.MyClass. I was wondering if I overwrite the .ToString() method and use reflection to loop over all the properties and construct a string like that ... it would do the trick but just wanted to see if there is anything already out there (specially since Immediate Window has this capability) which does the same ... i.e. list the class property values in trace instead of just the Name of the class. Thanks!

  Is it possible to step into a linq query? I have a linq to entity framework 4 query in it's simplest form: List = List.Where(f => f.Value.ToString().ToLowerInvariant().Contains(filter.ToLowerInvariant())); It's a query against an Entity Framework DbContext and I'm having trouble seeing why it works for something like: List searching for 001 yields no results against the following list Test001 Test002 Test003 Test004 However any other search yields results (Such as t00 or Test) Update Basically I'm looking for why a query such as the above wouldn't return a result when I'm using a contains and the value matches the end of a string vs just the middle or begining. It's really confusing. OK, it appears to have something to do with ToLowerInvariant() - when I removed that method it works just fine.

• only return random number when it is unique

  My brain is melting today and i cannot think how to do this simple bit of code. numberList is a string of numbers seperated by commas like '2, 34, 10' etc.. when i request a random number i need to check if the string has the number, if it does i want to keep requesting a random number until the random number is definitely not in the string. i cant think what kind of loop i would do to get this to work: Random r = new Random(); public int RandomPos(int max) { int i; do { i = r.Next(max) + 1; } while (!numberList.Contains(i.ToString())); return i; }

  I have the following code: SqlCommand cmd2 = new SqlCommand("SELECT ClaimId FROM tblPayment WHERE PaymentId = " + PaymentID.ToString(), mvarDBConn); SqlDataReader reader = cmd2.ExecuteReader(); reader.Read(); Int32 ClaimId = reader.GetInt32(0); reader.Close(); If I run the SELECT statement in SQL it returns the number fine, but when I use ExecuteReader all it returns is 0. I've tried multiple methods including ExecuteScalar, ExecuteNonQuery, reader.GetString then casting that to an int, etc. What am I missing? Thanks.
