  • Transitioning from the web to the desktop

    Can anyone recommend a language, library, framework or book which focuses on GUI programming from the perspective of a web developer? I have experience in web development, for example HTML/AJAX/PHP/MySQL among similar technologies. However, I have never programmed my own back-end, or any kind of standalone program. Does anyone have experience making this transition, and what would I best study to help make the leap from the browser to creating programs with GUIs (primarily for Windows)?

  • Is there a Javascript cron implementation somewhere that I'm missing?

    I'm aware of timing issues in Javascript, how its not exact/off by milliseconds etc, but I need something to at least attempt to do browser-based scheduling. In terms of features, I'm thinking something along the lines of scheduling patterns described here: http://www.sauronsoftware.it/projects/cron4j/manual.php#p02 Anything out there? I've done google searches and haven't found any implementation worth nothing.

  • Help using the jQuery BBQ plug-in with forms

    Hi, I have been trying to figure out how to use the jQuery BBQ plug-in. I have been able to add it to my site by copying the code from the site but I'm seeing that if I have a form in one of my tabs, I can't post any of the results successfully. Has anyone used this plug-in and gotten used to its functionality? I need help figuring out where to input my php code for form handling and have the results returned the page loaded in the tab.

What I want is that, when an item selected in the "category" list, everything in the "items" list from that category is also selected. For example, if "Categories" contains "Animal", "Mineral", and "Vegetable", and "Items" contains "Dog", "Cat", "Monkey", "Diamond", "Granite", "Carrot", "Tomato": If "Animal" is selected in one list, "Dog", "Cat", and "Monkey" should be selected; any other selections should remain as they are.
