  • How to prevent MDI main form closing from MDI Child.

    Hello! I have a MDI main form. On it I host a form, and I want it to show a message box before it closes (asking the user whether to save changes). So far so good, however I have discovered that closing the MDI main form does not raise a MDI child FormClosing event. I figured I will just call MdiChild.Close() in the MDI main's FormClosing event (which does get raised). This seams to work, however it does causes a problem... In the messagebox that I show, I offer the user to save changes, not to save changes and cancel closing. Normally this works fine, however I can't seem to find a way to cancel MDI main's FormClosing event. Is there a elegant way of doing this? EDIT: I solved this by throwing an exception (when user decides to cancel the closing procedure) which is caught in MDI main's FormClosing event. In this way I know when I have to cancel the MDI main's FormClosing event and this seams to work fine ... However I just can't believe that this "hax" is the only way of doing this. Surely there is a better way?

  • Is it true that quickly closing a webpage opened from a search engine result can hurt the site's ranking?

    My web designer recently told me that I need to be careful not to Google for my business' website, click on its search result link, then quickly close the page (or click back) too many times. He says "Google knows" that I didn't stay on the page, and could penalize my site for having a high click-through rate if it happens too much (it was something along those lines- I forget the exact wording). Apparently, it could look like the behavior of a visitor who was not interested in what they found (hence the alleged detrimental effect on the site's search ranking). This sounds hard to believe to me because I would not have thought any information is transmitted which tells Google (or anyone, for that matter) whether or not a website is still open in a browser (in my case Firefox v25.0). Could there possibly be any truth to this? If not, why might he have come to this conclusion? Is there some click-tracking or similar technology employed by search engines which does something similar? Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

    anyone can help me? I just got this problem today. Before this my site running smooth with Fastcgi enable but now its show 500 internal server error with below logs. I need to disable php fastcgi in LxAdmin so that my visitor can access my site but when I disable php fastgi, my web performance is very slow with high load to server. I also include the performance screenshot. What should I do?     Hi, I have three windows: 1st - main window 2nd - child window - it's opened using window.showModalDialog from 1st widnow. 3rd - window - is an ancestor of 1st window and is's opened from 2nd window using window.showModalDialog. And now what I need to achieve is to open 1, 2 and 3 window. Next after closing the 3rd one, refresh the 2nd one. And after closing the 2nd one, refresh the 1st one. But there is one more assumption, I don't want to have any post-back during this process. Dose anybody have any idea how to make it?

To make things clearer: When I select/highlight a opening tag with my mouse I would like Dreamweaver to select/highlight the closing tag. My main questions: Does anybody know what this functionality is called? Does anybody know how to add this functionality to Dreamweaver? Is it written the on hard disk as temporary files (where exactly is it, appdata or where)? Does that mean the next user of the pc could gain access just clicking that from the system tray and saving to other folders? How about when the system crash and that portable app is not closed the normal way? On the next open, will it stay somewhere on temporary folders?

    I'm trying to essentially run a callback function when a Floatbox popup is closed via a hyperlink inside the popup. I want the page to scroll to the top and my login box to fade in. I'm using the following code: function showLogin() { jQuery('#header_no_theme_login_popup', parent.document.body).show(); window.parent.window.scrollTo(0,0); window.parent.fb.end(); } This works fine, but if I try to use jQuery fadeIn, the fade effect is truncated when the Floatbox popup finishes closing, leaving it with partial opacity. jQuery scrollTo doesn't seem to want to work at all.   • IE6 rendering bug. Some parsed <li> elements are losing their closing tags.

    I have been working with IE6 for many years [sob], but have never seen this particular bug before, and I can't seem to find a reference to it on the Web. The problem appears to be with how IE6 is parsing the HTML of a nested list. Even though the markup is correct, IE6 somehow munges the code when it is parsed, and drops the closing tags of some of the <li> elements.   • Is putting the javascript before the closing body tag okay on an asp.net website?

    I pretty much stated what I have to ask. But is taking all of your external .js files and putting them before the closing body tag on your master pages okay on an asp.net website? I'm just going off of what yslow and google speed have been showing. I can't combine these javascripts, so I'm trying to load them "after page load", but doing so makes them useless; some of my jquery things don't work. I moved my .js files above the opening body tag, and they work. What am I doing wrong? And what could I do to load my .js files after page load? Thanks for any advice anybody can offer!

    I just ask this question as I do not believe that after so many versions of Word, it wouldn't exist. Usually when I'm working on a document and I realize I have to rename it, I have to close the document down, go to file explorer and then rename it, and then opening it up again. It's a procedure that's so ingrained in my usage pattern that I didn't realize until now that I'm actually having to open and close multiple windows/ applications etc. simply to rename a file. Surely, it's the year 2012, I should be able to do a simple thing like that with a few clicks right? So is there a way to just rename the file name of a word /excel / office document without having to close it first?

  • Why Matlab in screen in Linux on PuTTY terminates itself after closing PuTTY session?

    I connected to a linux server with PuTTY and start a screen session, and start matlab with: matlab -nodesktop Then, I run my matlab code as usual. The code will run for hours. So to test whether screen works, I start another PuTTY session and run top. Then, I close PuTTY session with still-running Matlab (top shows Matlab at 100% CPU usage) in screen. To my surprise, my Matlab process vanished after I close the aforementioned session. I've tried this a few times, and it seems the same thing happened. screen -ls shows that my screens are there but detached. top also shows that my matlab is not there. What might be the possible cause of this? Doesn't screen normally should keep on running even I terminate my PuTTY session?

    a normal telnet connection is like this: telnet localhost 22 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.2 ^] telnet close Connection closed. I want to close it from telnet session itself without coming to telnet prompt by pressing. My requirement is that if i press some control character from telnet session itself like CTRL+A so it will come out of session and close it automatically. something like this: $ telnet localhost 22 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.2 ^A Connection closed. $ I tried all the options given at the man page and tried to do some $HOME/.telnetrc file tests but couldn't achieve it, as telnetrc will execute all the commands written in it with the given host whenever a telnet to that host is done. Can anyone help me in this, like how it can be achieved.

  • Run a local command after closing an SSH connection?

    I've set up my zsh to update the XTerm title whenever I change directories. It's neat! Unfortunately I have one common problem, which is this: % cd foo; # title changes to "host1:~/foo" % ssh host2; # title changes to "host2:~" % pwd /home/user/foo # title is still "host2:~" I need to run some command anytime an ssh connection terminates, either chpwd, or cd ., or something similar. I don't think I can use an alias, because I'd need something like alias ssh=ssh $*; cd . but AFAICT you can't pick where the arguments go in an alias.
