  Hello everyone, I want to count the number of accounts from the resulting table generated from this code. This way, I know how many people liked blue at one time. Select Distinct PEOPLE.FullName, PEOPLE.FavColor From PEOPLE Where FavColor='Blue' Lets say this is a history accounting of what people said their favorite color when they were asked so there may be multiple records of the same full name if asked again at a much later time; hence the distinct. The code I used may not be reusable in your answer so feel free to use what you think can work. I am sure I found a possible solution to my problem using declare and if statements but I lost that page... so I am left with no solution. However, I think there is a way to do it without using conditionals which is what I am asking and rather have. Thanks.   How can I stop ASP.Net from encoding anchor tags in List Items when the page renders? I have a collection of objects. Each object has a link property. I did a foreach and tried to output the links in a BulletedList, but ASP encoded all the links. Any idea? Thanks! Here's the offending snippet of code. • .Net - interop assemblies taking 15 seconds to load when being referenced in a function

  This is a C# console application. I have a function that does something like this: static void foo() { Application powerpointApp; Presentation presentation = null; powerpointApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.ApplicationClass(); } That's all it does. When it is called there is a fifteen second delay before the function gets hit. I added something like this: static void MyAssemblyLoadEventHandler(object sender, AssemblyLoadEventArgs args) { Console.WriteLine(DateTime.Now.ToString() + " ASSEMBLY LOADED: " + args.LoadedAssembly.FullName); Console.WriteLine(); } This gets fired telling me that my interop assemblies have been loaded about 10 milliseconds before my foo function gets hit. What can I do about this? The program needs to call this function (and eventually do something else) once and then exit so I need for these assemblies to be cached or something. Ideas?

  We are using Linq-to-SQL with stored Procedures we need help on one of our problem. We are having user tables which is having all field required for user table like firstname,lastname and other fields that table is also there in our DBML files.Now the problem is that we are having a stored procedure that is mapped to table-User returning a field called fullname (Combination of firstname and lastname)which is not there in usertable. So what is the best way to slove this. Another thing is that one of other stored procedure return inner join of two tables with mix columns in this case how can i mapped that stored procedure with Table mapped info class in our dbml files.

  A company is hired by another company for helping in a certain field. So I created the following tables: Companies: id, company name, company address Administrators: (in relation with companies) id, company_id, username, email, password, fullname Then, each company has some workers in it, I store data about workers. Hence, workers has a profession, Agreement Type signed and some other common things. Now, the parent tables and data in it for workers (Agreement Types, Professions, Other Common Things) are going to be the same for each company. Should I create 1 new database for each company? Or store All data into the same database? Thanks.

  Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? Have seperate customer and useraccount tables Just disable the accounts so the data is still available Record the customers name in the calls table as a seperate field. or any other methods / suggestions?

Static coercions are not allowed on some types. Further type annotations are needed. I've tried annotating the function return type, but got the same result. I would hate to change this to a dynamic cast. Is there a way to make the static cast work?

  All I want to do is differentiate between the program being run by the command line or by clicking the test.vbs file in a window. If you run the script by typing C:\testFolder\test.vbs in a command prompt, then I want the program to run differently than if you double clicked test.vbs in the testFolder. Is there some system variable that I can use to differentiate between the two scenarios? I first attempted to use WScript.Fullname to determine if the pathname ended in cscript or wscript. But that didn't work so well. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

• Insufficient permissions when calling flickr.auth.oauth.checkToken

  This is a follow up on another question I had asked on stackoverflow a day or so ago. I'm working on trying to call flickr.people.getPhotos... but no matter what I do I keep getting this... jsonFlickrApi({"stat":"fail", "code":99, "message":"Insufficient permissions. Method requires read privileges; none granted."}); but if you were to look at my "Apps You're Using" page (on flickr) you'd see this. So, even though I've authorized the max permissions... flickr says I don't have any granted!? • Ubuntu Preseed set Norwegian Keyboard?

  It's been a couple of days now that I am trying to make a fully automated unattended installation. I managed to make it work with Ubuntu/Cobbler and a preseed file, but I cannot set the correct keyboard layout which is Norwegian in this case. I am doing the tests on a virtual machine and when I am going with a normal manual installation (no preseed) everything is working fine. When I am using the preseed file, I always end up with an "English (US)" keyboard no matter the many different options I have tried. I can change it manually with the "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" command, but that's not the case. It should be handled automatically using the preseed file. I am using DEBCONF_DEBUG=5 when the grub is loading, and as I see in "/var/log/installer/syslog" file after the installation has finished, the preseeding commands are accepted. Can anyone help on this? • Mostrar Imagenes en ListView utilizando ImageList WinForms

  El día de hoy veremos como trabajar con los controles ListView e Imagelist de WindowsForms para poder leer y mostrar una serie de imágenes. Antes de ello debo decir que pueden existir otras formas de mostrar imagenes que solo requieren un control por ejemplo con un Gridview pero eso será en otro post, ahora nos centraremos en la forma de realizarlo con los controles antes mencionados. Lo primero que haremos será crear un nuevo proyecto de windows forms, en mi caso utilizando C#, luego agregaremos un Control ImageList. Este control será el que utilicemos para almacenar todas las imágenes una vez que las hemos leído. Si revisamos el control, veremos que tenemos la opción de agregar la imágenes mediante el diseñador, es decir podemos seleccionarlas manualmente o bien agregarlas mediante código que será lo que haremos. Lo segundo será agregar un control ListView al Formulario, este será el encargado de mostrar las imagenes, eso sí, por ahora será solo mostrarlas no tendrá otras funcionalidades. Ahora, vamos al codeBehind y en el Evento Load del form empezaremos a codificar: Lo primero será, crear una nueva variable derivando DirectoryInfo, a la cual le indicaremos la ruta de nuestra carpeta de imágenes. En nuestro ejemplo utilizamos Application.StartUpPath para indicarle que vamos a buscar en nuestro mismo proyecto (en carpeta debug por el momento). DirectoryInfo dir = new DirectoryInfo(Application.StartupPath + @"\images");   Una vez que hemos creado la referencia a la ruta, utilizaremos un for para obtener todas la imágenes que se encuentren dentro del Folder que indicamos, para luego agregarlas al imagelist y empezar a crear nuestra nueva colección. foreach (FileInfo file in dir.GetFiles()) { try { this.imageList1.Images.Add(Image.FromFile(file.FullName)); }   catch { Console.WriteLine("No es un archivo de imagen"); } }   Una vez, que hemos llenado nuestro ImageList, entonces asignaremos al ListView sus propiedades, para definir la forma en que las imágenes se mostrarán. Un aspecto a tomar en cuenta acá será la propiedad ImageSize ya que está será la que definirá el tamaño que tendrán las imágenes en el ListView cuando sean mostradas. this.listView1.View = View.LargeIcon;   this.imageList1.ImageSize = new Size(120, 100);   this.listView1.LargeImageList = this.imageList1;   Por último y con ayuda de otro for vamos a recorrer cada uno de los elementos que ahora posee nuestro ImageList y lo agregaremos al ListView para mostrarlo for (int j = 0; j < this.imageList1.Images.Count; j++) { ListViewItem item = new ListViewItem();   item.ImageIndex = j;   this.listView1.Items.Add(item); } Como vemos, a pesar de que utilizamos dos controles distintos es realmente sencillo  mostrar la imagenes en el ListView al final el control ImageList, solo funciona como un “puente” que nos permite leer la imagenes para luego mostrarlas en otro control. • F# Objects &ndash; Integrating with the other .Net Languages &ndash; Part 1

  In the next few blog posts I am going to explore objects in F#. Up to now, my dabbling in F# has really been a few liners and while I haven’t reached the point where F# is my language of preference – I am already seeing the benefits of the language when solving certain types of programming problems. For me I believe that the F# language will be used in a silo like architecture and that the real benefit of having F# under your belt is so that you can solve problems that F# lends itself towards and then interact with other .Net languages in doing the rest. When I was still very new to the F# language I did the following post covering how to get F# & C# to talk to each other. Today I am going to use a similar approach to demonstrate the structure of F# objects when inter-operating with other languages. Lets start with an empty F# class … type Person() = class end   Very simple, and all we really have done is declared an object that has nothing in it. We could if we wanted to make an object that takes a constructor with parameters… the code for this would look something like this… type Person =     {         Firstname : string         Lastname : string     }   What’s interesting about this syntax is when you try and interop with this object from another .Net language like C# - you would see the following…   Not only has a constructor been created that accepts two parameters, but Firstname and Lastname are also exposed on the object. Now it’s important to keep in mind that value holders in F# are immutable by default, so you would not be able to change the value of Firstname after the construction of the object – in C# terms it has been set to readonly. One could however explicitly state that the value holders were mutable, which would then allow you to change the values after the actual creation of the object. type Person = { mutable Firstname : string mutable Lastname : string }   Something that bugged me for a while was what if I wanted to have an F# object that requires values in its constructor, but does not expose them as part of the object. After bashing my head for a few moments I came up with the following syntax – which achieves this result. type Person(Firstname : string, Lastname : string) = member v.Fullname = Firstname + " " + Lastname What I haven’t figured out yet is what is the difference between the () & {} brackets when declaring an object.
