  • Android: Can not send http post

    - by jpartogi
    Hi all, I've been banging my head trying to figure out how to send a post method in Android. This is how my code look like: public class HomeActivity extends Activity implements OnClickListener { private TextView textView; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); textView = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.text); Button button = (Button)findViewById(R.id.button); button.setOnClickListener(this); } @Override public void onClick(View view) { HttpPost httpMethod = new HttpPost("http://www.example.com/"); httpMethod.addHeader("Accept", "text/html"); httpMethod.addHeader("Content-Type", "application/xml"); AndroidHttpClient client = AndroidHttpClient.newInstance("Android"); String result = null; try { HttpResponse response = client.execute(httpMethod); textView.setText(response.toString()); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); Log.i(HomeActivity.class.toString(), result); textView.setText("Invoked webservice"); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); Log.e(HomeActivity.class.toString(), e.getMessage()); textView.setText("Something wrong:" + e.getMessage()); } } } What am I doing wrong here? Is there anything that I may need to configure from the Android emulator to get this working? Thank you for your help.

  • Invalidating Memcached Keys on save() in Django

    - by Zack
    I've got a view in Django that uses memcached to cache data for the more highly trafficked views that rely on a relatively static set of data. The key word is relatively: I need invalidate the memcached key for that particular URL's data when it's changed in the database. To be as clear as possible, here's the meat an' potatoes of the view (Person is a model, cache is django.core.cache.cache): def person_detail(request, slug): if request.is_ajax(): cache_key = "%s_ABOUT_%s" % settings.SITE_PREFIX, slug # Check the cache to see if we've already got this result made. json_dict = cache.get(cache_key) # Was it a cache hit? if json_dict is None: # That's a negative Ghost Rider person = get_object_or_404(Person, display = True, slug = slug) json_dict = { 'name' : person.name, 'bio' : person.bio_html, 'image' : person.image.extra_thumbnails['large'].absolute_url, } cache.set(cache_key) # json_dict will now exist, whether it's from the cache or not response = HttpResponse() response['Content-Type'] = 'text/javascript' response.write(simpljson.dumps(json_dict)) # Make sure it's all properly formatted for JS by using simplejson return response else: # This is where the fully templated response is generated What I want to do is get at that cache_key variable in it's "unformatted" form, but I'm not sure how to do this--if it can be done at all. Just in case there's already something to do this, here's what I want to do with it (this is from the Person model's hypothetical save method) def save(self): # If this is an update, the key will be cached, otherwise it won't, let's see if we can't find me try: old_self = Person.objects.get(pk=self.id) cache_key = # Voodoo magic to get that variable old_key = cache_key.format(settings.SITE_PREFIX, old_self.slug) # Generate the key currently cached cache.delete(old_key) # Hit it with both barrels of rock salt # Turns out this doesn't already exist, let's make that first request even faster by making this cache right now except DoesNotExist: # I haven't gotten to this yet. super(Person, self).save() I'm thinking about making a view class for this sorta stuff, and having functions in it like remove_cache or generate_cache since I do this sorta stuff a lot. Would that be a better idea? If so, how would I call the views in the URLconf if they're in a class?

    Hey all, I want to export 2 different reports when I click an Export button. The problem is the routine only fires once and I only get one report to print out. Am I doing something wrong? • Jquery Autocomplete plugin with Django (Trey Piepmeier solution)

    - by Sally
    So, I'm basing my code on Trey's solution on: http://solutions.treypiepmeier.com/2009/12/10/using-jquery-autocomplete-with-django/ The script is: <script> $(function() { $('#id_members').autocomplete('{{ object.get_absolute_url }}members/lookup', { dataType: 'json', width: 200, parse: function(data) { return $.map(data, function(row) { return { data:row, value:row[1], result:row[0] }; }); } }).result( function(e, data, value) { $("#id_members_pk").val(value); } ); } ); </script> The views.py: def members_lookup(request, pid): results = [] if request.method == "GET": if request.GET.has_key(u'q'): value = request.GET[u'q'] # Ignore queries shorter than length 1 if len(value) > 2: model_results = Member.objects.filter( Q(user__first_name__icontains=value) | Q(user__last_name__icontains=value) ) results = [ (x.user.get_full_name(), x.id) for x in model_results ] json = simplejson.dumps(results) print json return HttpResponse(json, mimetype='application/json') The problem is: It stops refining the search results after the initial lookup. For example: If I set len(value) 2, after I type the 3rd character it will give me a list of suggestions. But if I keep on typing the 4th or 5th character, the list of suggestions doesn't change. Any suggestions on why this is?

  • Logout exception flooding elmah

    - by durilai
    I am using ASP.NET membership, and in particular a copy of the membership code included in the MVC project. I am also using elmah to log exceptions. I am getting flooded with the following when people sign out. System.Web.HttpException: Server cannot set status after HTTP headers have been sent. It is not causing an issue for end users, but would still like to resolve/learn about it. Thanks for any help or guidance.

    Hi, I have displayed the music list in a list view. The list is obtained from a website. I have done this using Arraylist. Now, i want to iterate the same program using custom lists and custom adapters instead of array list. • Django: Serving Media Behind Custom URL

    - by TheLizardKing
    So I of course know that serving static files through Django will send you straight to hell but I am confused on how to use a custom url to mask the true location of the file using Django. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2681338/django-serving-a-download-in-a-generic-view but the answer I accepted seems to be the "wrong" way of doing things. urls.py: url(r'^song/(?P<song_id>\d+)/download/$', song_download, name='song_download'), views.py: def song_download(request, song_id): song = Song.objects.get(id=song_id) fsock = open(os.path.join(song.path, song.filename)) response = HttpResponse(fsock, mimetype='audio/mpeg') response['Content-Disposition'] = "attachment; filename=%s - %s.mp3" % (song.artist, song.title) return response This solution works perfectly but not perfectly enough it turns out. How can I avoid having a direct link to the mp3 while still serving through nginx/apache? EDIT 1 - ADDITIONAL INFO Currently I can get my files by using an address such as: http://www.example.com/music/song/1692/download/ But the above mentioned method is the devil's work. How can I accomplished what I get above while still making nginx/apache serve the media? Is this something that should be done at the webserver level? Some crazy mod_rewrite? http://static.example.com/music/Aphex%20Twin%20-%20Richard%20D.%20James%20(V0)/10%20Logon-Rock%20Witch.mp3

  • How do I pass a lot of parameters to views in Dango?

    - by Mark
    I'm very new to Django and I'm trying to build an application to present my data in tables and charts. Till now my learning process went very smooth, but now I'm a bit stuck. My pageview retrieves large amounts of data from a database and puts it in the context. The template then generates different html-tables. So far so good. Now I want to add different charts to the template. I manage to do this by defining <img src=".../> tags. The Matplotlib chart is generate in my chartview an returned via: response=HttpResponse(content_type='image/png') canvas.print_png(response) return response Now I have different questions: the data is retrieved twice from the database. Once in the pageview to render the tables, and again in the chartview for making the charts. What is the best way to pass the data, already in the context of the page to the chartview? I need a lot of charts, each with different datasets. I could make a chartview for each chart, but probably there is a better way. How do I pass the different dataset names to the chartview? Some charts have 20 datasets, so I don't think that passing these dataset parameters via the url (like: <imgm src="chart/dataset1/dataset2/.../dataset20/chart.png />) is the right way. Any advice?

  • How to make a request from an android app that can enter a Spring Security secured webservice method

    - by johnrock
    I have a Spring Security (form based authentication) web app running CXF JAX-RS webservices and I am trying to connect to this webservice from an Android app that can be authenticated on a per user basis. Currently, when I add an @Secured annotation to my webservice method all requests to this method are denied. I have tried to pass in credentials of a valid user/password (that currently exists in the Spring Security based web app and can log in to the web app successfully) from the android call but the request still fails to enter this method when the @Secured annotation is present. The SecurityContext parameter returns null when calling getUserPrincipal(). How can I make a request from an android app that can enter a Spring Security secured webservice method? Here is the code I am working with at the moment: Android call: httpclient.getCredentialsProvider().setCredentials( //new AuthScope("192.168.1.101", 80), new AuthScope(null, -1), new UsernamePasswordCredentials("joeuser", "mypassword")); String userAgent = "Android/" + getVersion(); HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(MY_URI); httpget.setHeader("User-Agent", userAgent); httpget.setHeader("Content-Type", "application/xml"); HttpResponse response; try { response = httpclient.execute(httpget); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); ... parse xml Webservice Method: @GET @Path("/payload") @Produces("application/XML") @Secured({"ROLE_USER","ROLE_ADMIN","ROLE_GUEST"}) public Response makePayload(@Context Request request, @Context SecurityContext securityContext){ Payload payload = new Payload(); payload.setUsersOnline(new Long(200)); if (payload == null) { return Response.noContent().build(); } else{ return Response.ok().entity(payload).build(); } }

  • Testing ASP.NET webservice using NUnit and transferring session state

    - by herbertyeung
    I have a NUnit test class that starts an ASP.NET web service (using Microsoft.VisualStudio.WebHost.Server) which runs on http://localhost:1070 The problem I am having is that I want to create a session state within the NUnit test that is accessible by the ASP.NET web service on localhost:1070. I have done the following, and the session state can be created successfully inside the NUnit Test, but is lost when the web service is invoked: //Create a new HttpContext for NUnit Testing based on: //http://blogs.imeta.co.uk/jallderidge/archive/2008/10/19/456.aspx HttpContext.Current = new HttpContext( new HttpRequest("", "http://localhost:1070/", ""), new HttpResponse( new System.IO.StringWriter())); //Create a new HttpContext.Current for NUnit Testing System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateUtility.AddHttpSessionStateToContext( HttpContext.Current, new HttpSessionStateContainer("", new SessionStateItemCollection(), new HttpStaticObjectsCollection(), 20000, true, HttpCookieMode.UseCookies, SessionStateMode.Off, false)); HttpContext.Current.Session["UserName"] = "testUserName"; testwebService.testMethod(); I want to be able to get the session state created in the NUnit test for Session["UserName"] in the ASP.NET web service: [WebMethod(EnableSession=true)] public int testMethod() { string user; if(Session["UserName"] != null) { user = (string)Session["UserName"]; //Do some processing of the user return 1; } else return 0; } The web.config file has the following configuration for the session state configuration and would like to remain using InProc than rather StateServer Or SQLServer: <sessionState mode="InProc" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="20"/>

  • Persistant Http client connections in java

    - by Akusete
    I am trying to write a simple Http client application in Java and am a bit confused by the seemingly different ways to establish Http client connections, and efficiently re-use the objects. Current I am using the following steps (I have left out exception handling for simplicity) Iterator<URI> uriIterator = someURIs(); HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); while (uriIterator.hasNext()) { URI uri = uriIterator.next(); HttpGet request = new HttpGet(uri); HttpResponse response = client.execute(request); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); InputStream s = entity.getContent(); processStream (); s.close(); } In regard to the code above, my questions is: Assuming all URI's are pointing to the same host (but different resources on that host). What is the recommended way to use a single http connection for all requests? And how do you close the connection after the last request? --edit: Also what is the difference between using uri.openConnection(), versus HttpClient? Which is preferable, and what other methods exist?

  • can javascript process binary data?

    - by Johnny
    admit me describe my questions in situation-oriented way: assume IE is still the dominate web browser(the firefox have document for binary processing): the XMLHttpRequest.responseText or XMLHttpRequest.responseXML in ie desire txt or xml/xhtml/html,but what about the server response the xmlHttprequest whith MIME TYPE application/octet ? would the response string all little than 256 ?(every char of that string < 256), thanks very much for a straight answer, i have no webserver env,so i don't know how to test it out. because use txt or xml have a issue of character set encode, and i don't know how to process #[[[CDDATA node of one encoded xml(ex : utf-8,ascii,gb18030) with javascript, when i getNodeText, does the docObj return me byte or decoded char ? if it was decoded char which according to the header indicated charSet in the httpresponse , it would be all wrong. to avoid mess up with charSet ,i would like the server to response octet data and force strings data to be encoded as utf-8 but another charSet in the binary format. if the response is octal, so i guess the browser would not try to decode the response"txt" does this weird? or miss understanding the fundamental things? EDIT: I believe the question is asking this: Can Javascript safely process strings that aren't encoded in Unicode? What are the problems with trying to do so? EDIT: no no no , i means if http-header: content-type is "application/octet" , would the ie try to decoded it as (16bits Unicode | ie local setting charset ) when i get XMLHttpRequestobj.responseText use javascript ? or it(ie) just wrap every single byte of the response body as a javascript string, then every char in that string little than or equal 256 (char<=256), am i talking Mars language? sadly, if i were Marsizen,i would come as tourist without fuzzy questions. however i am in a country which share at least one property with Mars : RED

  • Can anyone share a code snippet to Update Google Documents

    - by Sana
    Hi, I am relentlessly trying to update an existing google doc with the Google Protocol Data API, but the contents do not get updated, even though the PUT runs perfectly fine with a return response code of 200. Here is the code that I am using try { HttpRequest requestPost = transport.buildPutRequest(); requestPost.url = DocsUrl.forUploadingFile(editLink); ((GoogleHeaders) requestPost.headers).setSlugFromFileName("books1.xml"); InputStreamContent content = new InputStreamContent(); File file = new File("//sdcard/books.xml"); content.setFileInput(file); content.type = "text/plain"; content.length = file.length(); System.out.println("Length of the file = "+content.length); requestPost.content = content; HttpResponse responseUpload = requestPost.execute(); System.out.println("Uploading code = "+responseUpload.statusCode); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { System.out.println("Client Protocol Exception"); } catch (IOException e) { handleException(e); } where editLink is the editLink edit-media link returned from google doc feeds.

  • Django 1.1 template question

    - by Bovril
    Hi All, I'm a little stuck trying to get my head around a django template. I have 2 objects, a cluster and a node I would like a simple page that lists... [Cluster 1] [associated node 1] [associated node 2] [associated node 3] [Cluster 2] [associated node 4] [associated node 5] [associated node 6] I've been using Django for about 2 days so if i've missed the point, please be gentle :) Models - class Node(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=30) description = models.TextField() cluster = models.ForeignKey(Cluster) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class Cluster(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=30) description = models.TextField() def __unicode__(self): return self.name Views - def DSAList(request): clusterlist = Cluster.objects.all() nodelist = Node.objects.all() t = loader.get_template('dsalist.html') v = Context({ 'CLUSTERLIST' : clusterlist, 'NODELIST' : nodelist, }) return HttpResponse(t.render(v)) Template - <body> <TABLE> {% for cluster in CLUSTERLIST %} <tr> <TD>{{ cluster.name }}</TD> {% for node in NODELIST %} {% if node.cluster.id == cluster.id %} <tr> <TD>{{ node.name }}</TD> </tr> {% endif %} {% endfor %} </tr> {% endfor %} </TABLE> </body> Any ideas ?

  • Saving animated GIFs using urllib.urlopen (image saved does not animate)

    - by wenbert
    I have Apache2 + Django + X-sendfile. My problem is that when I upload an animated GIF, it won't "animate" when I output through the browser. Here is my code to display the image located outside the public accessible directory. def raw(request,uuid): target = str(uuid).split('.')[:-1][0] image = Uploads.objects.get(uuid=target) path = image.path filepath = os.path.join(path,"%s.%s" % (image.uuid,image.ext)) response = HttpResponse(mimetype=mimetypes.guess_type(filepath)) response['Content-Disposition']='filename="%s"'\ %smart_str(image.filename) response["X-Sendfile"] = filepath response['Content-length'] = os.stat(filepath).st_size return response UPDATE It turns out that it works. My problem is when I try to upload an image via URL. It probably doesn't save the entire GIF? def handle_url_file(request): """ Open a file from a URL. Split the file to get the filename and extension. Generate a random uuid using rand1() Then save the file. Return the UUID when successful. """ try: file = urllib.urlopen(request.POST['url']) randname = rand1(settings.RANDOM_ID_LENGTH) newfilename = request.POST['url'].split('/')[-1] ext = str(newfilename.split('.')[-1]).lower() im = cStringIO.StringIO(file.read()) # constructs a StringIO holding the image img = Image.open(im) filehash = checkhash(im) image = Uploads.objects.get(filehash=filehash) uuid = image.uuid return "%s" % (uuid) except Uploads.DoesNotExist: img.save(os.path.join(settings.UPLOAD_DIRECTORY,(("%s.%s")%(randname,ext)))) del img filesize = os.stat(os.path.join(settings.UPLOAD_DIRECTORY,(("%s.%s")%(randname,ext)))).st_size upload = Uploads( ip = request.META['REMOTE_ADDR'], filename = newfilename, uuid = randname, ext = ext, path = settings.UPLOAD_DIRECTORY, views = 1, bandwidth = filesize, source = request.POST['url'], size = filesize, filehash = filehash, ) upload.save() #return uuid return "%s" % (upload.uuid) except IOError, e: raise e Any ideas? Thanks! Wenbert

  • Updating an application OTA

    - by Bostjan
    I'm developing an application that will be available from a website (market probably as well). The problem I'm having at the moment is how to handle the updates to the app. I know how to check the version against the current one and I know if I need to update it. Question is...how? Is there a way I can download an APK from the website and start the install process? The user will have to confirm of course, but I just want to be able to start it for him. At the moment I'm doing this: private void doUpgrade() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); builder.setTitle(getString(R.string.upgrade)); builder.setIcon(R.drawable.help); builder.setMessage(getString(R.string.needUpgrade)); builder.setPositiveButton(getString(R.string.ok), new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub Map<String, String> data = new HashMap<String, String>(); try { HttpResponse re = Registration.doPost("http://www.android-town.com/appRelease/AndroidTown.apk",data); int statusCode = re.getStatusLine().getStatusCode(); closeApp(); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { e.printStackTrace(); Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), getString(R.string.noURLAccess), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); closeApp(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), getString(R.string.noURLAccess), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); closeApp(); } } }); builder.setNegativeButton(getString(R.string.cancel), new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog, int which) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub dialog.cancel(); closeApp(); } }); builder.show(); } But it doesn't really do anything...should I open a webView with the URL? A new runnable thread? Any other way? Please help :) Cheers

  • Why is alert not run even though $.getJSON runs fine? (Callback not executed, even though the reques

    - by Emre Sevinç
    I have a snippet of code such as: $.getJSON("http://mysite.org/polls/saveLanguageTest?url=" + escape(window.location.href) + "&callback=?", function (data) { var serverResponse = data.result; console.log(serverResponse); alert(serverResponse); }); It works fine in the sense that it makes a cross-domain request to my server and the server saves the data as I expect. Unfortunately, even though the server saves data and sends back a response I just can't get any alert or the console.log run. Why may be that? The server side code is (if that is relevant): def saveLanguageTest(request): callback = request.GET.get('callback', '') person = Person(firstName = 'Anonymous', ipAddress = request.META['REMOTE_ADDR']) person.save() webPage = WebPage(url = request.GET.get('url')) webPage.save() langTest = LanguageTest(type = 'prepositionTest') langTest.person = person langTest.webPage = webPage langTest.save() req ['result'] = 'Your test is saved.' response = json.dumps(req) response = callback + '(' + response + ');' return HttpResponse(response, mimetype = "application/json") What am I missing? (I tried the same code both within my web pages and inside the Firebug and I always have the problem stated above.)
