• Open source tomcat log viewer

  I'm managing several tomcat instances (aprox 30-35) and looking for some console to centralize the logs. I tried php-syslog-ng before (no with tomcat), and found it useful. I would like that these software would have some of these features: -Syntax highlight according to the severity of the exceptions. -Tree view for stack traces and nested exceptions. Bonus point: -Alarm when certain pattern is matched.

• Akamai log processing

  I'm digging through Akamai logs, downloading excel sheets, and then manually joining them so that I can do sorting of data to find top videos and referrers. Are there any tools you know of to help with this kind of processing? I'm looking for something like Urchin used to be for Apache logs, but for Akamai logs. Thanks!

  I have quite a few of these in Apache logs piling up every day: [Mon Jun 09 20:42:58 2014] [error] [client 180.153.214.181] File does not exist: /home/user/public_html/ajax.googleapis.com, referer: http://www.mysite.com//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js I have over 200k visitors per day but a few of them like a dozen or so are generating the above error. I can't figure out what may be causing it. Checked the html code and it's all good so I ran out of ideas.

  My Apache server is behind a firewall with a NAT translation. The problem I'm having is that I want to see who is actually making the request instead of my firewall's address. It's nice to know that the firewall is working, but to really look at traffic patterns I need to see the real world IP address.

  I went to the apple store today to discuss a problem with my iPhone battery, and they plugged it into one of their macs and used an application that interpreted the logs stored on my phone. So, my question is, does anybody know the name of the application that reads the logs, and if so, where it is available? Since it is a diagnostic tool, I'm guessing it won't be openly available, but I thought i would ask anyway.

• Revover original email from Sendmail log

  I have a website the contact form has been failing silently for two weeks (Wordpress + Contact form 7). Apparently updating to Contact Form 7 made the assigned email to fail [email protected], I also tested with [email protected] and it also failed until I tried with gmail and it finally worked. Apparently @telefonica.net and @me.com domains are not working with this version of the plugin, but I have to investigate the cause. I found the logs of the lost emails, but I would like to know If I can recover the sender or the content of the original messages. • nginx: rewrite URL but have original URL stored in access.log as 200

  I'm setting up a link tracking system, which (temporarily) involves adding /link/id/ in front of URL (like http://server/data/id/publication/id/). rewrite data/id/(.*) http://server/$1; The request is logged as: ip - - [17/Nov/2011:10:07:19 +0300] "GET /data/id/publication/id.html HTTP/1.1" 302 154 "-" "UA"` For some reason (keeping the compatibility with AWStats) it is wanted to have 200 logged instead of 302. (nginx allows to get 301 code out of box with permanent option, but thats inappropriate too) What are my options here? Will the combination of location { } and rewrite do the job?

• Linux Log Viewer with Web interface

  I have been asked at work to find a solution to one of our problems. We have several logs that customers need access to, because we don't want to give them direct access to the folder/share we are looking to implement a simple Web based solution that permits customers to login see a list of files they have permissions to and download the file. It would need to be able to setup permissions so User01 can see file01 and file03 and User02 can see file04 and file06, optimally all the files would be under the same folder, so permissions are based on files rather then based on folders. When I pass an MSIHANDLE from an InstallScript custom action to a managed assembly initialized via DotNetCoCreateObject(), the value received within my managed code is -2. Does anyone know if it is possible to access an MSIHANDLE from an InstallScript custom action that calls into managed code via DotNetCoCreateObject()? I'd like to log my custom action results to the same log file as the rest of the installation. I am using InstallShield 2010, Windows Install 4.5 and .Net 3.5.

• I would like to prevent these entries from being added to the eventlog.

  Our client's application EventLog is getting filled up with warnings due to a bug in the Microsoft SQL Server report viewer control, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973219. They have thousands of users running reports so this is making their eventlog hard to use and they want them removed on a frequent basis. I tried using PowerShell to remove the events, but that does not seem possible. Is there a way to prevent these entries from being written to the event log in the first place? I'm thinking I would like to filter out events where event source="ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0", eventId ="1309" and Message contains "Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd"

  I have code similar to: if conditionA(x, y, z) then doA() else if conditionB(x, y, z) then doB() ... else if conditionZ(x, y, z) then doZ() else throw ShouldNeverHappenException I would like to validate two things (using static analysis): If all conditions conditionA, conditionB, ..., conditionZ are mutually exclusive (i.e. it is not possible that two or more conditions are true in the same time). All possible cases are covered, i.e. "else throw" statement will never be called. Could you recommend me a tool and/or a way I could (easily) do this? I would appreciate more detailed informations than "use Prolog" or "use Mathematica"... ;-)

• Analysis services with non normalized table

  I have a table with several million rows. Each row represents a user session. There is a column called user which is not unique. There can be multiple sessions per user. I want to use Analysis services to get me the additional properties per user. Example: How many users (unique!) had a session longer than x minutes. How is that possible without changing the database. Note: there is no lookup-table and I cannot create one. What I am able of at the moment is to ask how many sessions were longer then x minutes.

  I'm having trouble getting my head around algorithm analysis. I seem to be okay identifying linear or squared algorithms but am totally lost with nlogn or logn algorithms, these seem to stem mainly from while loops? Heres an example I was looking at: Algorithm Calculate(A,n) Input: Array A of size n t?0 for i?0 to n-1 do if A[i] is an odd number then Q.enqueue(A[i]) else while Q is not empty do t?t+Q.dequeue() while Q is not empty do t?t+Q.dequeue() return t My best guess is the for loop is executed n times, its nested while loop q times making NQ and the final while loop also Q times resulting in O(NQ +Q) which is linear? I am probably totally wrong. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks
