  • Postfix Send Error: Must Issue STARTTLS command

    - by Mary Elizabeth
    Running Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to configure postfix to relay send and receive through GMAIL. Am running into connection issues particularly with TLS. Have tried a bunch of troubleshooting solutions and have changed my main.cf to address TLS but still receive the below errors. Tried debugging connection issues with: `root@mailservice:/etc/postfix# openssl s_client -connect localhost:587 -starttls smtp` and I recveive these errors `connect: Connection refused' 'connect:errno=111` in my logs I see: Jun 11 13:54:31 mailservice postfix/smtp[3765]: warning: cannot get RSA certificate from file /etc/postfix/cert.pem: disabling TLS support Jun 11 13:54:31 mailservice postfix/smtp[3765]: warning: TLS library problem: 3765:error:0906D06C:PEM routines:PEM_read_bio:no start line:pem_lib.c:696:Expecting: TRUSTED CERTIFICATE: Jun 11 13:54:31 mailservice postfix/smtp[3765]: warning: TLS library problem: 3765:error:140DC009:SSL routines:SSL_CTX_use_certificate_chain_file:PEM lib:ssl_rsa.c:729: Jun 11 13:54:31 mailservice postfix/smtp[3765]: 9986B6846A: to= <[email protected]>, relay=smtp.gmail.com[173.194.77.109]:587, delay=0.15, delays=0.02/0.02/0.09/0.02, dsn=5.7.0, status=bounced (host smtp.gmail.com[173.194.77.109] said: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. hd9sm12170509obc.6 (in reply to MAIL FROM command)) The contents of my main.cf (pertaining to TLS) look like this: #TLS Parameters smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache smtp_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtp_scache #TLS Settings smtp_use_tls = yes smtp_tls_security_level = may smtp_tls_loglevel = 1 smtp_enforce_tls = yes smtp_tls_CAfile = /etc/postfix/cacert.pem smtp_tls_cert_file = /etc/postfix/cert.pem smtp_tls_key_file = $smtp_tls_cert_file smtp_tls_session_cache_dataabase = btree:/var/run/smtp_tls_session_cache smtp_tls_note_starttls_offer = yes smtpd_use_tls = yes smtpd_tls_security)level = may smtpd_tls_auth_only = no smtpd_tls_CAfile = /etc/postfix/cacert.pem smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/postfix/cert.pem smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/postfix/key.pem smtpd_tls_received_header = yes smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:/var/run/smtpd_tls_session_cache smtpd_tls_session_cache_timeout = 3600s tls_random_source = dev:/dev/urandom As far as I can tell everything is in order for a proper TLS Connection, and I am unsure what would need to change in main.cf or elsewhere for mail to send.

  • CORS Fails on CloudFront Distribution with Nginx Origin

    - by kgrote
I have a CloudFront distribution set up with an Nginx server as the origin (a Media Temple DV server, to be specific). I enabled the Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * header so fonts will work in Firefox. However, Firefox throws a CORS error for fonts loaded from this CloudFront/Nginx distribution. I created another CloudFront distribution, this time with an Apache server as the origin, and set Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * also. Firefox displays fonts from this origin without issue. I've set up a demo page here: http://kristengrote.com/cors-test/ When I perform a curl request for the same font file from each distribution, both files return almost exactly the same headers: Apache Origin Nginx Origin ——————————————————— ——————————————————— HTTP/1.1 200 OK HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Apache Server: nginx Content-Type: application/font-woff Content-Type: application/font-woff Content-Length: 25428 Content-Length: 25428 Connection: keep-alive Connection: keep-alive Date: Wed, 11 Jun 2014 23:23:09 GMT Date: Wed, 11 Jun 2014 23:15:23 GMT Last-Modified: Tue, 10 Jun 2014 22:15:56 GMT Last-Modified: Tue, 10 Jun 2014 22:56:09 GMT Accept-Ranges: bytes Accept-Ranges: bytes Cache-Control: max-age=2592000 Cache-Control: max-age=2592000 Expires: Fri, 11 Jul 2014 23:23:09 GMT Expires: Fri, 11 Jul 2014 23:15:23 GMT Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * Access-Control-Allow-Methods: GET, HEAD Access-Control-Allow-Methods: GET, HEAD Access-Control-Allow-Headers: * Access-Control-Allow-Headers: * Access-Control-Max-Age: 3000 Access-Control-Max-Age: 3000 X-Cache: Hit from cloudfront X-Cache: Hit from cloudfront Via: 1.1 210111ffb8239a13be669aa7c59f53bd.cloudfront.net (CloudFront) Via: 1.1 fa0dd57deefe7337151830e7e9660414.cloudfront.net (CloudFront) X-Amz-Cf-Id: QWucpBoZnS3B8E1mlXR2V5V-SVUoITCeVb64fETuAgNuGuTLnbzAhw== X-Amz-Cf-Id: E2Z3VOIfR5QPcYN1osOgvk0HyBwc3PxrFBBHYdA65ZntXDe-srzgUQ== Age: 487 X-Accel-Version: 0.01 X-Powered-By: PleskLin X-Robots-Tag: noindex, nofollow So the only conclusion I can draw is that something about Nginx is preventing Firefox from recognizing CORS and allowing the fonts via CloudFront. Any ideas on what the heck is happening here?

  • Cygwin vim doesn't load files in runtimepath

    I created a custom syntax file, and but none of the files in $VIMRUNTIME seem to load. I followed these pieces of the documentation: http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/filetype.html#new-filetype http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/syntax.html#mysyntaxfile When I do :echo &runtimepath I get: /home/durron597/.vim,/usr/share/vim/vimfiles,/usr/share/vim/vim73,/usr/share/vim/vimfiles/after,/home/durron597/.vim/after However, if I open a file with vim -D, here's the listed files as I type f: /etc/vimrc /home/durron597/.vimrc /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/getscriptPlugin.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/gzip.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/matchparen.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/netrwPlugin.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/rrhelper.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/spellfile.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/tarPlugin.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/tohtml.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/vimballPlugin.vim /usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/zipPlugin.vim Here's the output of ls -lR durron597@Durron597 ~/.vim $ ls -lR .: total 0 drwxr-xr-x+ 1 durron597 None 0 Jun 3 11:06 ftdetect drwxr-xr-x+ 1 durron597 None 0 Jun 3 11:06 syntax ./ftdetect: total 1.0K -rw-r--r-- 1 durron597 None 45 Jun 3 11:06 mytype.vim ./syntax: total 4.0K -rw-r--r-- 1 durron597 None 740 Jun 3 11:06 mytype.vim The exact exact paths are: /home/durron597/.vim/ftdetect/mytype.vim /home/durron597/.vim/syntax/mytype.vim Note: the problem is that these files don't seem to be loaded at all, not that these files have internal mistakes Output of :filetype filetype detection:ON plugin:ON indent:OFF Edit 3: No, really, the files are in the right place: $ find /home -name '*.vim' /home/durron597/.vim /home/durron597/.vim/ftdetect/fix.vim /home/durron597/.vim/syntax/fix.vim

  • Lion server profile manager, device enrollment doesn't work

    - by user964406
I am in the process of setting up Lion Servers profile manager to manage iPads on our local school network. I don't need to manage them while they are outside the network. I have successfully had it working on my personal network. The school network is behind a proxy which we have no control over. I can get the iPads to view the mydevices page and install a trust cert. I have managed to get an iPad to successfully install the remote management profile. After this the profile manager bugs out. It will list the active task of 'new device (sending)' but it's unable to complete the task. If I click on the device on profile manager and try any of the actions out they will all fail to complete. I am using the auto generated certificates and this works if I bring the server and iPad outside of the school network. Shortly after device enrollment the system log on the Lion server reports the following Replaced the actual ip address with INTERNALIP Jun 4 08:40:53 mini sandboxd[760] ([778]): applepushservice(778) deny network-outbound INTERNALIP:8080 Jun 4 08:40:53 mini sandboxd[760] ([778]): applepushservice(778) deny network-outbound INTERNALIP:8080 Jun 4 08:40:53 mini applepushserviced[778]: Got connection error Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=1 "The operation couldn\u2019t be completed. • mod_cache not working

    - by Pistos
I have a PHP site that has many dynamically generated pages. I'm trying to turn to mod_cache to help boost performance, because in most cases, content does not change in a given day. I have configured mod_cache as best I could, following examples around the web, including the mod_cache page on apache.org. When I set LogLevel debug, I see a bit of information about the caching that is [not] happening. There are plenty of pairs of lines like this: [Fri Jun 01 17:28:18 2012] [debug] mod_cache.c(141): Adding CACHE_SAVE filter for /foo/bar [Fri Jun 01 17:28:18 2012] [debug] mod_cache.c(148): Adding CACHE_REMOVE_URL filter for /foo/bar Which is fine, because I've set CacheEnable disk /foo, to indicate that I want everything under /foo cached. I'm new to mod_cache, but my understanding about these lines is that it just means that mod_cache has acknowledged that the URL is supposed to be cached, but there are supposed to be more lines indicating that it is saving the data to cache, and then later retrieving them on subsequent hits to the same URL. I can hit the same URL till I'm blue in the face, whether with F5 refreshing, or not, or with different browsers, or different computers. It's always that pair of lines that shows in the logs, and nothing else. When I set CacheEnable disk /, then I see more activity. But I don't want to cache the entire site, and there are many, many different subpaths to the site, so I don't want to have to modify code to set no-cache headers in all the necessary places. I'll mention that mod_rewrite is in use here, rewriting /foo/bar to something like index.php?baz=/foo/bar, but my understanding is that mod_cache uses the pre-rewrite URL, not the post-rewrite URL. As far as I can tell, I have the response headers not getting in the way of caching. Here's an example from one hit: Cache-Control:must-revalidate, max-age=3600 Connection:Keep-Alive Content-Encoding:gzip Content-Length:16790 Content-Type:text/html Date:Fri, 01 Jun 2012 21:43:09 GMT Expires:Fri, 1 Jun 2012 18:43:09 -0400 Keep-Alive:timeout=15, max=100 Pragma: Server:Apache Vary:Accept-Encoding mod_cache config is as follows: CacheRoot /var/cache/apache2/ CacheDirLevels 3 CacheDirLength 2 CacheEnable disk /foo What is getting in the way of mod_cache doing its job of caching?

  • Linux: Send mail to external mail box from a server with that user's hostname

    - by dtbarne
I've got sendmail running on a linux box. Let's say the hostname of the box is bar.com. If I run the following command, I don't receive the email (which is hosted with a third party), presumably due to the hostname pointing to the local machine. echo "Test Body" | mail -s "Test Subject" [email protected] Is there any way to get this to work so that I can receive emails at my third party email address even though it has the same hostname? Do I have to change the hostname of this server (not preferred)? It may be worth noting that I created a user "foo" on my machine and noticed that the mailbox for that account is empty. I noticed these log entries, which may or may not be relevant: Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14338]: p5S59min014338: from=apache, size=80, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, relay=apache@localhost Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14339]: p5S59mIA014339: from=<[email protected]>, size=293, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost.localdomain [127.0.$ Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14338]: p5S59min014338: [email protected], ctladdr=apache (48/48), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30080, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (p5S59mIA$ Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14340]: p5S59mIA014339: to=<[email protected]>, ctladdr=<[email protected]> (48/48), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=local, pri=30495, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

I noticed these log entries, which may or may not be relevant: Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14338]: p5S59min014338: from=apache, size=80, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, relay=apache@localhost Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14339]: p5S59mIA014339: from=<[email protected]>, size=293, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=localhost.localdomain [127.0.$ Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14338]: p5S59min014338: [email protected], ctladdr=apache (48/48), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30080, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (p5S59mIA$ Jun 28 01:09:48 bar sendmail[14340]: p5S59mIA014339: to=<[email protected]>, ctladdr=<[email protected]> (48/48), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=local, pri=30495, dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent

  • Having problem with C++ file handling

    - by caramel1991
Our lecturer has given us a task,I've attempted it and try every single effort I can,but I still struggle with one of the problem in it,here goes the question: The company you work at receives a monthly report in a text format. The report contains the following information. • Department Name • Head of Department Name • Month • Minimum spending of the month • Maximum spending of the month Your program is to obtain the name of the input file from the user. Implement a structure to represent the data: Once the file has been read into your program, print out the following statistics for the user: • List which department has the minimum spending per month by month • List which department has the minimum spending by month by month Write the information into a file called “MaxMin.txt” Then do a processing so that the Department Name, Head of Department Name, Minimum spending and Maximum spending are written to separate files based on the month, eg Jan, Feb, March and so on. and of course our lecturer does send us a text file with the content: Engineering Bill Jan 2000 15000 IT Jack Jan 300 20000 HR Jill Jan 1500 10000 Engineering Bill Feb 5000 45000 IT Jack Feb 4500 7000 HR Jill Feb 5600 60000 Engineering Bill Mar 5000 45000 IT Jack Mar 4500 7000 HR Jill Mar 5600 60000 Engineering Bill Apr 5000 45000 IT Jack Apr 4500 7000 HR Jill Apr 5600 60000 Engineering Bill May 2000 15000 IT Jack May 300 20000 HR Jill May 1500 10000 Engineering Bill Jun 2000 15000 IT Jack Jun 300 20000 HR Jill Jun 1500 10000 and here's the c++ code I've written ue#include include include using namespace std; struct Record { string depName; string head; string month; float max; float min; string name; }myRecord[19]; int main () { string line; ofstream minmax, jan, feb, mar, apr, may, jun; char a[50]; char b[50]; int i = 0,j,k; float temp; //float maxjan=myRecord[0].max,maxfeb=myRecord[0].max,maxmar=myRecord[0].max,maxapr=myRecord[0].max,maxmay=myRecord[0].max,maxjune=myRecord[0].max; float minjan=myRecord[1].min,minfeb=myRecord[1].min,minmar=myRecord[1].min,minapr=myRecord[1].min,minmay=myRecord[1].min,minjune=myRecord[1].min; float maxjan=0,maxfeb=0,maxmar=0,maxapr=0,maxmay=0,maxjune=0; //float minjan=0,minfeb=0,minmar=0,minapr=0,minmay=0,minjune=0; string maxjanDep,maxfebDep,maxmarDep,maxaprDep,maxmayDep,maxjunDep; string minjanDep,minfebDep,minmarDep,minaprDep,minmayDep,minjunDep; cout<<"Enter file name: "; cina; ifstream myfile (a); //minmax.open ("MaxMin.txt"); if (myfile.is_open()){ while (! myfile.eof()){ myfilemyRecord[i].depNamemyRecord[i].headmyRecord[i].monthmyRecord[i].minmyRecord[i].max; cout << myRecord[i].depName<<"\t"< cout<<"Enter file name: "; cinb; ifstream myfile1 (b); minmax.open ("MaxMin.txt"); jan.open ("Jan.txt"); feb.open ("Feb.txt"); mar.open ("March.txt"); apr.open ("April.txt"); may.open ("May.txt"); jun.open ("Jun.txt"); if (myfile1.is_open()){ while (! myfile1.eof()){ myfile1myRecord[i].depNamemyRecord[i].headmyRecord[i].monthmyRecord[i].minmyRecord[i].max; if (myRecord[i].month == "Jan"){ jan<< myRecord[i].depName<<"\t"< if (maxjan< myRecord[i].max){ maxjan=myRecord[i].max; maxjanDep=myRecord[i].depName;} //if (minjan myRecord[i].min){ // minjan=myRecord[i].min; //minjanDep=myRecord[i].depName; //} for (k=1;k<=3;k++){ for (j=0;j<2;j++){ if (myRecord[j].minmyRecord[j+1].min){ temp=myRecord[j].min; myRecord[j].min=myRecord[j+1].min; myRecord[j+1].min=temp; minjanDep=myRecord[j].depName; }}} } if (myRecord[i].month == "Feb"){ feb<< myRecord[i].depName<<"\t"< //if (minfebmyRecord[i].min){ //minfeb=myRecord[i].min; //minfebDep=myRecord[i].depName; //} for (k=1;k<=3;k++){ for (j=0;j<2;j++){ if (myRecord[j].minmyRecord[j+1].min){ temp=myRecord[j].min; myRecord[j].min=myRecord[j+1].min; myRecord[j+1].min=temp; minfebDep=myRecord[j+1].depName; }}} } if (myRecord[i].month == "Mar"){ mar<< myRecord[i].depName<<"\t"< if (myRecord[i].month == "Apr"){ apr<< myRecord[i].depName<<"\t"< if (minaprmyRecord[i].min){ minapr=myRecord[i].min; minaprDep=myRecord[i].min;} } if (myRecord[i].month == "May"){ may< if (minmaymyRecord[i].min){ minmay=myRecord[i].min; minmayDep=myRecord[i].depName;} } if (myRecord[i].month == "Jun"){ jun<< myRecord[i].depName<<"\t"< if (minjunemyRecord[i].min){ minjune=myRecord[i].min; minjunDep=myRecord[i].depName;} } i++; myfile.close(); } minmax<<"department that has maximum spending at jan "< else{ cout << "Unable to open file"< } sorry inside that code ue#include should has iostream along with another two #include fstream and string, but at here it was treated as html tag,so i can't type it. my problem here is,I can't seems to get the minimum spending,I've try all I can but I'm still lingering on it,any idea??THANK YOU!

  • Rotate haproxy logs

    - by Jagbir
    I tried few things but still not able to rotate haproxy logs efficiently. I need to rotate logs when log files crosses 500 MB size. Considering haproxy is serving large no. of static tcp connections, I can not restart haproxy process though a reload is doable. Daily haproxy log file size normally crosses 3 GB on my machine. Here's sample from one of newer machine where log file size is growing beyond limit set: ubuntu@server:/mnt/log/haproxy$ ls -lsh total 4.3G 85M -rw-r----- 1 syslog adm 85M Jun 2 07:13 haproxy.log 2.9G -rw-r----- 1 syslog adm 2.9G Jun 2 06:37 haproxy.log.1 460M -rw-r----- 1 syslog adm 460M Jun 1 06:32 haproxy.log.2.gz 469M -rw-r----- 1 syslog adm 469M May 31 06:42 haproxy.log.3.gz 384M -rw-r----- 1 syslog adm 384M May 30 06:49 haproxy.log.4.gz ubuntu@server:/mnt/log/haproxy$ cat /etc/logrotate.d/haproxy /mnt/log/haproxy/haproxy.log { missingok copytruncate notifempty rotate 50 size 500M compress delaycompress }

  • TOTD #166: Using NoSQL database in your Java EE 6 Applications on GlassFish - MongoDB for now!

    - by arungupta
The Java EE 6 platform includes Java Persistence API to work with RDBMS. The JPA specification defines a comprehensive API that includes, but not restricted to, how a database table can be mapped to a POJO and vice versa, provides mechanisms how a PersistenceContext can be injected in a @Stateless bean and then be used for performing different operations on the database table and write typesafe queries. There are several well known advantages of RDBMS but the NoSQL movement has gained traction over past couple of years. The NoSQL databases are not intended to be a replacement for the mainstream RDBMS. As Philosophy of NoSQL explains, NoSQL database was designed for casual use where all the features typically provided by an RDBMS are not required. The name "NoSQL" is more of a category of databases that is more known for what it is not rather than what it is. The basic principles of NoSQL database are: No need to have a pre-defined schema and that makes them a schema-less database. Addition of new properties to existing objects is easy and does not require ALTER TABLE. The unstructured data gives flexibility to change the format of data any time without downtime or reduced service levels. Also there are no joins happening on the server because there is no structure and thus no relation between them. Scalability and performance is more important than the entire set of functionality typically provided by an RDBMS. This set of databases provide eventual consistency and/or transactions restricted to single items but more focus on CRUD. Not be restricted to SQL to access the information stored in the backing database. Designed to scale-out (horizontal) instead of scale-up (vertical). This is important knowing that databases, and everything else as well, is moving into the cloud. RBDMS can scale-out using sharding but requires complex management and not for the faint of heart. Unlike RBDMS which require a separate caching tier, most of the NoSQL databases comes with integrated caching. Designed for less management and simpler data models lead to lower administration as well. There are primarily three types of NoSQL databases: Key-Value stores (e.g. Cassandra and Riak) Document databases (MongoDB or CouchDB) Graph databases (Neo4J) You may think NoSQL is panacea but as I mentioned above they are not meant to replace the mainstream databases and here is why: RDBMS have been around for many years, very stable, and functionally rich. This is something CIOs and CTOs can bet their money on without much worry. There is a reason 98% of Fortune 100 companies run Oracle :-) NoSQL is cutting edge, brings excitement to developers, but enterprises are cautious about them. Commercial databases like Oracle are well supported by the backing enterprises in terms of providing support resources on a global scale. There is a full ecosystem built around these commercial databases providing training, performance tuning, architecture guidance, and everything else. NoSQL is fairly new and typically backed by a single company not able to meet the scale of these big enterprises. NoSQL databases are good for CRUDing operations but business intelligence is extremely important for enterprises to stay competitive. RDBMS provide extensive tooling to generate this data but that was not the original intention of NoSQL databases and is lacking in that area. Generating any meaningful information other than CRUDing require extensive programming. Not suited for complex transactions such as banking systems or other highly transactional applications requiring 2-phase commit. SQL cannot be used with NoSQL databases and writing simple queries can be involving. Enough talking, lets take a look at some code. This blog has published multiple blogs on how to access a RDBMS using JPA in a Java EE 6 application. This Tip Of The Day (TOTD) will show you can use MongoDB (a document-oriented database) with a typical 3-tier Java EE 6 application. Lets get started! The complete source code of this project can be downloaded here. Download MongoDB for your platform from here (1.8.2 as of this writing) and start the server as: arun@ArunUbuntu:~/tools/mongodb-linux-x86_64-1.8.2/bin$./mongod./mongod --help for help and startup optionsSun Jun 26 20:41:11 [initandlisten] MongoDB starting : pid=11210port=27017 dbpath=/data/db/ 64-bit Sun Jun 26 20:41:11 [initandlisten] db version v1.8.2, pdfile version4.5Sun Jun 26 20:41:11 [initandlisten] git version:433bbaa14aaba6860da15bd4de8edf600f56501bSun Jun 26 20:41:11 [initandlisten] build sys info: Linuxbs-linux64.10gen.cc 2.6.21.7-2.ec2.v1.2.fc8xen #1 SMP Fri Nov 2017:48:28 EST 2009 x86_64 BOOST_LIB_VERSION=1_41Sun Jun 26 20:41:11 [initandlisten] waiting for connections on port 27017Sun Jun 26 20:41:11 [websvr] web admin interface listening on port 28017 The default directory for the database is /data/db and needs to be created as: sudo mkdir -p /data/db/sudo chown `id -u` /data/db You can specify a different directory using "--dbpath" option. Refer to Quickstart for your specific platform. Using NetBeans, create a Java EE 6 project and make sure to enable CDI and add JavaServer Faces framework. Download MongoDB Java Driver (2.6.3 of this writing) and add it to the project library by selecting "Properties", "LIbraries", "Add Library...", creating a new library by specifying the location of the JAR file, and adding the library to the created project. Edit the generated "index.xhtml" such that it looks like: <h1>Add a new movie</h1><h:form> Name: <h:inputText value="#{movie.name}" size="20"/><br/> Year: <h:inputText value="#{movie.year}" size="6"/><br/> Language: <h:inputText value="#{movie.language}" size="20"/><br/> <h:commandButton actionListener="#{movieSessionBean.createMovie}" action="show" title="Add" value="submit"/></h:form> This page has a simple HTML form with three text boxes and a submit button. The text boxes take name, year, and language of a movie and the submit button invokes the "createMovie" method of "movieSessionBean" and then render "show.xhtml". Create "show.xhtml" ("New" -> "Other..." -> "Other" -> "XHTML File") such that it looks like: <head> <title><h1>List of movies</h1></title> </head> <body> <h:form> <h:dataTable value="#{movieSessionBean.movies}" var="m" > <h:column><f:facet name="header">Name</f:facet>#{m.name}</h:column> <h:column><f:facet name="header">Year</f:facet>#{m.year}</h:column> <h:column><f:facet name="header">Language</f:facet>#{m.language}</h:column> </h:dataTable> </h:form> This page shows the name, year, and language of all movies stored in the database so far. The list of movies is returned by "movieSessionBean.movies" property. Now create the "Movie" class such that it looks like: import com.mongodb.BasicDBObject;import com.mongodb.BasicDBObject;import com.mongodb.DBObject;import javax.enterprise.inject.Model;import javax.validation.constraints.Size;/** * @author arun */@Modelpublic class Movie { @Size(min=1, max=20) private String name; @Size(min=1, max=20) private String language; private int year; // getters and setters for "name", "year", "language" public BasicDBObject toDBObject() { BasicDBObject doc = new BasicDBObject(); doc.put("name", name); doc.put("year", year); doc.put("language", language); return doc; } public static Movie fromDBObject(DBObject doc) { Movie m = new Movie(); m.name = (String)doc.get("name"); m.year = (int)doc.get("year"); m.language = (String)doc.get("language"); return m; } @Override public String toString() { return name + ", " + year + ", " + language; }} Other than the usual boilerplate code, the key methods here are "toDBObject" and "fromDBObject". These methods provide a conversion from "Movie" -> "DBObject" and vice versa. The "DBObject" is a MongoDB class that comes as part of the mongo-2.6.3.jar file and which we added to our project earlier.  The complete javadoc for 2.6.3 can be seen here. Notice, this class also uses Bean Validation constraints and will be honored by the JSF layer. Instead of a working with a database table, NoSQL databases work with a schema-less document. The "Movie" class is the document in our case and stored in the collection "movies". The collection allows us to perform query functions on all movies. The "getMovies" method invokes "find" method on the collection which is equivalent to the SQL query "select * from movies" and then returns a List<Movie>.

Finally, create "MovieSessionBean" stateless EJB with all the business logic such that it looks like: package org.glassfish.samples;import com.mongodb.BasicDBObject;import com.mongodb.DB;import com.mongodb.DBCollection;import com.mongodb.DBCursor;import com.mongodb.DBObject;import com.mongodb.Mongo;import java.net.UnknownHostException;import java.util.ArrayList;import java.util.List;import javax.annotation.PostConstruct;import javax.ejb.Stateless;import javax.inject.Inject;import javax.inject.Named;/** * @author arun */@Stateless@Namedpublic class MovieSessionBean { @Inject Movie movie; DBCollection movieColl; @PostConstruct private void initDB() throws UnknownHostException { Mongo m = new Mongo(); DB db = m.getDB("movieDB"); movieColl = db.getCollection("movies"); if (movieColl == null) { movieColl = db.createCollection("movies", null); } } public void createMovie() { BasicDBObject doc = movie.toDBObject(); movieColl.insert(doc); } public List<Movie> getMovies() { List<Movie> movies = new ArrayList(); DBCursor cur = movieColl.find(); System.out.println("getMovies: Found " + cur.size() + " movie(s)"); for (DBObject dbo : cur.toArray()) { movies.add(Movie.fromDBObject(dbo)); } return movies; }} The database is initialized in @PostConstruct. Instead of a working with a database table, NoSQL databases work with a schema-less document. The "Movie" class is the document in our case and stored in the collection "movies". • Apple File Sharing fails to connect

    - by Josh
Running OSX Lion Server (10.7.4), and about once a week or so the Apple File Sharing service stops letting clients connect to its shares. On the client we will see a dialog box stating "There was a problem connecting to the server ". Browsing the server we simply no longer see the shares. The clients are also running the latest OSX (10.7.4) In /var/log/system.log we see entries like the following: Jun 26 08:38:22 w3 AppleFileServer[20511]: received message with invalid client_id 157 Jun 26 08:42:11 w3 AppleFileServer[20511]: received message with invalid client_id 165 Jun 26 08:42:21 w3 AppleFileServer[20511]: received message with invalid client_id 174 Where 20511 appears to be the pid, and client_id appears to be incremented with each failed attempt. Nothing jumps out at me from /Library/Logs/AppleFileService/AppleFileService[Access|Error].log Restarting the service fixes the problem: serveradmin stop afp && serveradmin start afp So I added a script to do this daily using the periodic service. But, we still encounter this problem about once a a week.
