  • Delegate Instantiation -Clarification

    - by nettguy
    When i have delegate like public delegate void PrintMe(); (1) PrintMe a = delegate() { MessageBox.Show("Hello"); }; a(); (2) PrintMe b = () => { MessageBox.Show("Hello"); }; b(); (3) PrintMe c = new PrintMe(HelpMe); c(); static void HelpMe() { MessageBox.Show("Help Me"); } for (1) and (2) I did not instatntiate the delegate it is directly pointing to anonymous methods.But as in the case of (3) I need to instatntiate the delegate and pass the static method.for case (3) can't i declare like PrintMe c= HelpMe(); ?.How does (1) and (2) work?

  • Is this a clean way to manage AsyncResults with Generic Methods?

    - by Michael Stum
    I've contributed Async Support to a Project I'm using, but I made a bug which I'm trying to fix. Basically I have this construct: private readonly Dictionary<WaitHandle, object> genericCallbacks = new Dictionary<WaitHandle, object>(); public IAsyncResult BeginExecute<T>(RestRequest request, AsyncCallback callback, object state) where T : new() { var genericCallback = new RequestExecuteCaller<T>(this.Execute<T>); var asyncResult = genericCallback.BeginInvoke(request, callback, state); genericCallbacks[asyncResult.AsyncWaitHandle] = genericCallback; return asyncResult; } public RestResponse<T> EndExecute<T>(IAsyncResult asyncResult) where T : new() { var cb = genericCallbacks[asyncResult.AsyncWaitHandle] as RequestExecuteCaller<T>; genericCallbacks.Remove(asyncResult.AsyncWaitHandle); return cb.EndInvoke(asyncResult); } So I have a generic BeginExecute/EndExecute method pair. As I need to store the delegate that is called on EndExecute somewhere I created a dictionary. I'm unsure about using WaitHandles as keys though, but that seems to be the only safe choice. Does this approach make sense? Are WaitHandles unique or could I have two equal ones? Or should I instead use the State (and wrap any user provided state into my own State value)? Just to add, the class itself is non-generic, only the Begin/EndExecute methods are generic.

  • When is Facebook Connect supposed to call its delegate methods?

    - by RickiG
    Hi The Facebook connect code is eluding me a bit. I have no problem doing a login, and a wall post, however, I simply can not figure out how the delegate methods for the FBDialog andFBStreamDialog is supposed to work. - (void)postToWall { FBStreamDialog *dialog = [[[FBStreamDialog alloc] init] autorelease]; dialog.delegate = self; dialog.userMessagePrompt = @"Enter your message:"; dialog.attachment = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"JSONpost code"]; [dialog show]; } I adhere to these protocols in my controller: <FBDialogDelegate, FBSessionDelegate, FBRequestDelegate> I then implement the two methods: - (void) dialogDidCancel:(FBDialog *)dialog { NSLog(@"Failed"); } - (void) dialogDidSucceed:(FBDialog *)dialog { NSLog(@"Success"); } After I tap "publish" and the postToWall methods is done executing the Facebook "pop up" in the UI is empty, except a small "X" in the top right corner and a "F" (facebook logo) in the top left corner. The UI will stay there until I tap the "X", this results in the dialogDidCancel delegate method being called. The post data is showing up on the Facebook page, everything seems to work. Why is thedialogDidSucceedmethod never called? I need this to release my facebook controller and restore the UI back to where the user was before "starting" FB Connect. Thank You:)

  • UIView, UIScrollView and UITextFields problem calling Method

    - by Jeff Groby
    I have a view with several embedded UITextFields, this UIView is subordinated to a UIScrollView in IB. Each text field is supposed to invoke a method called updateText defined in the viewcontroller implementation file when the user is done editing the field. For some reason, the method updateText never gets invoked. Anyone have any ideas how to go about fixing this? The method fired off just fine when the UIScrollView was not present in the project but the keyboard would cover the text fields during input, which was annoying. Now my textfields move up above the keyboard when it appears, but won't fire off the method when done editing. Here is my implementation file: #import "MileMarkerViewController.h" @implementation MileMarkerViewController @synthesize scrollView,milemarkerLogDate,milemarkerDesc,milemarkerOdobeg,milemarkerOdoend,milemarkerBusiness,milemarkerPersonal,milemarker; - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { if (self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil]) { // Initialization code } return self; } - (BOOL) textFieldShouldReturn: (UITextField*) theTextField { return [theTextField resignFirstResponder]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(keyboardWasShown:) name: UIKeyboardDidShowNotification object: nil]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver: self selector: @selector(keyboardWasHidden:) name: UIKeyboardDidHideNotification object: nil]; keyboardShown = NO; // 1 [scrollView setContentSize: CGSizeMake( 320, 480)]; // 2 } - (void)keyboardWasShown:(NSNotification*)aNotification { if (keyboardShown) return; NSDictionary* info = [aNotification userInfo]; // Get the size of the keyboard. NSValue* aValue = [info objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey]; CGSize keyboardSize = [aValue CGRectValue].size; // Resize the scroll view (which is the root view of the window) CGRect viewFrame = [scrollView frame]; viewFrame.size.height -= keyboardSize.height; scrollView.frame = viewFrame; // Scroll the active text field into view. CGRect textFieldRect = [activeField frame]; [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:textFieldRect animated:YES]; keyboardShown = YES; } - (void)keyboardWasHidden:(NSNotification*)aNotification { NSDictionary* info = [aNotification userInfo]; // Get the size of the keyboard. NSValue* aValue = [info objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey]; CGSize keyboardSize = [aValue CGRectValue].size; // Reset the height of the scroll view to its original value CGRect viewFrame = [scrollView frame]; viewFrame.size.height += keyboardSize.height; [scrollView scrollRectToVisible:CGRectMake(0, 0, 1, 1) animated:YES]; scrollView.frame = viewFrame; keyboardShown = NO; } - (void)textFieldDidBeginEditing:(UITextField *)textField { activeField = textField; } - (void)textFieldDidEndEditing:(UITextField *)textField { activeField = nil; } - (IBAction)updateText:(id) sender { NSLog(@"You just entered: %@",self.milemarkerLogDate.text); self.milemarker.logdate = self.milemarkerLogDate.text; self.milemarker.desc = self.milemarkerDesc.text; self.milemarker.odobeg = self.milemarkerOdobeg.text; self.milemarker.odoend = self.milemarkerOdoend.text; self.milemarker.business = self.milemarkerBusiness.text; self.milemarker.personal = self.milemarkerPersonal.text; NSLog(@"Original textfield is set to: %@",self.milemarker.logdate); [self.milemarker updateText]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. • Issue with translating a delegate function from c# to vb.net for use with Google OAuth 2

    - by Jeremy
    I've been trying to translate a Google OAuth 2 example from C# to Vb.net for a co-worker's project. I'm having on end of issues translating the following methods: private OAuth2Authenticator<WebServerClient> CreateAuthenticator() { // Register the authenticator. var provider = new WebServerClient(GoogleAuthenticationServer.Description); provider.ClientIdentifier = ClientCredentials.ClientID; provider.ClientSecret = ClientCredentials.ClientSecret; var authenticator = new OAuth2Authenticator<WebServerClient>(provider, GetAuthorization) { NoCaching = true }; return authenticator; } private IAuthorizationState GetAuthorization(WebServerClient client) { // If this user is already authenticated, then just return the auth state. IAuthorizationState state = AuthState; if (state != null) { return state; } // Check if an authorization request already is in progress. state = client.ProcessUserAuthorization(new HttpRequestInfo(HttpContext.Current.Request)); if (state != null && (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(state.AccessToken) || !string.IsNullOrEmpty(state.RefreshToken))) { // Store and return the credentials. HttpContext.Current.Session["AUTH_STATE"] = _state = state; return state; } // Otherwise do a new authorization request. string scope = TasksService.Scopes.TasksReadonly.GetStringValue(); OutgoingWebResponse response = client.PrepareRequestUserAuthorization(new[] { scope }); response.Send(); // Will throw a ThreadAbortException to prevent sending another response. return null; } The main issue being this line: var authenticator = new OAuth2Authenticator<WebServerClient>(provider, GetAuthorization) { NoCaching = true }; The Method signature reads as for this particular line reads as follows: Public Sub New(tokenProvider As TClient, authProvider As System.Func(Of TClient, DotNetOpenAuth.OAuth2.IAuthorizationState)) My understanding of Delegate functions in VB.net isn't the greatest. However I have read over all of the MSDN documentation and other relevant resources on the web, but I'm still stuck as to how to translate this particular line. So far all of my attempts have resulted in either the a cast error (see below) or no call to GetAuthorization. The Code (vb.net on .net 3.5) Private Function CreateAuthenticator() As OAuth2Authenticator(Of WebServerClient) ' Register the authenticator. Dim client As New WebServerClient(GoogleAuthenticationServer.Description, oauth.ClientID, oauth.ClientSecret) Dim authDelegate As Func(Of WebServerClient, IAuthorizationState) = AddressOf GetAuthorization Dim authenticator = New OAuth2Authenticator(Of WebServerClient)(client, authDelegate) With {.NoCaching = True} 'Dim authenticator = New OAuth2Authenticator(Of WebServerClient)(client, GetAuthorization(client)) With {.NoCaching = True} 'Dim authenticator = New OAuth2Authenticator(Of WebServerClient)(client, New Func(Of WebServerClient, IAuthorizationState)(Function(c) GetAuthorization(c))) With {.NoCaching = True} 'Dim authenticator = New OAuth2Authenticator(Of WebServerClient)(client, New Func(Of WebServerClient, IAuthorizationState)(AddressOf GetAuthorization)) With {.NoCaching = True} Return authenticator End Function Private Function GetAuthorization(arg As WebServerClient) As IAuthorizationState ' If this user is already authenticated, then just return the auth state. Dim state As IAuthorizationState = AuthState If (Not state Is Nothing) Then Return state End If ' Check if an authorization request already is in progress. state = arg.ProcessUserAuthorization(New HttpRequestInfo(HttpContext.Current.Request)) If (state IsNot Nothing) Then If ((String.IsNullOrEmpty(state.AccessToken) = False Or String.IsNullOrEmpty(state.RefreshToken) = False)) Then ' Store Credentials HttpContext.Current.Session("AUTH_STATE") = state _state = state Return state End If End If ' Otherwise do a new authorization request. Dim scope As String = AnalyticsService.Scopes.AnalyticsReadonly.GetStringValue() Dim _response As OutgoingWebResponse = arg.PrepareRequestUserAuthorization(New String() {scope}) ' Add Offline Access and forced Approval _response.Headers("location") += "&access_type=offline&approval_prompt=force" _response.Send() ' Will throw a ThreadAbortException to prevent sending another response. Return Nothing End Function The Cast Error Server Error in '/' Application. Unable to cast object of type 'DotNetOpenAuth.OAuth2.AuthorizationState' to type 'System.Func`2[DotNetOpenAuth.OAuth2.WebServerClient,DotNetOpenAuth.OAuth2.IAuthorizationState]'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. SO lets say in my class I have: public delegate bool MyFunc(int param); How can I then do this someObj.PassMeADelegateToExamine(this.MyFunc); // not possible!?! SO that I can examine the delegate and perhaps use reflection or something idk to find out it's return type and any params it might have? Basically if I can transform it into an (uncallable) Action object that woul dbe grand

  • PropertyInfo from Delegate

    - by Paul Hatcherian
    Is there a simple way to get the PropertyInfo for a property in a delegate, assuming it is a simple property seletor? Example: var propertyInfo = Method<MyClass,int>(s => s.Property); ... PropertyInfo Method(Func<T1,T2> selector) { // What goes here? }

  • C#: Hook up all events from object in single statement.

    - by David
    In my domain layer all domain objects emit events (of type InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler) to indicate invalid state when the IsValid property is called. On an aspx codebehind, I have to manually wire up the events for the domain object like this: _purchaseOrder.AmountIsNull += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); _purchaseOrder.NoReason += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); _purchaseOrder.NoSupplier += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); _purchaseOrder.BothNewAndExistingSupplier += new DomainObject.InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler(HandleDomainObjectEvent); Note that the same method is called in each case since the InvalidDomainobjectEventArgs class contains the message to display. Is there any way I can write a single statement to wire up all events of type InvalidDomainObjectEventHandler in one go? Thanks David

  • Covert uiiamge into string

    - by Warrior
    I am new iphone development.Is there any possibility to covert the uiimage into string and then once again back to image. - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingImage:(UIImage *)img1 editingInfo:(NSDictionary *)editInfo { [[picker parentViewController] dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; NSData *data = UIImagePNGRepresentation(img1); NSString *str1; str1 = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; MyAppAppDelegate *appDelegate = (MyAppAppDelegate *) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [appDelegate setCurrentLink:str1]; EmailPictureViewController *email = [[EmailPictureViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"EmailPictureViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:email animated:YES]; } so i can use delegate methods to tranfer the image from one view to another view. so i should convert the string once again to image and display it in another view. In Another view - (void)viewDidLoad { MyAppAppDelegate *appDelegate =(MyAppAppDelegate *) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; str1 = [appDelegate getCurrentLink]; NSLog(@"The String %@",str1); NSData *aData; aData = [str1 dataUsingEncoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding]; NSLog(@"The String Data %@",aData); NSLog(@"Inside Didload3"); [imgview setImage:[UIImage imageWithData:aData]]; } But this doesn't work for me.Where do i go wrong.Is there any way to solve it?.Please help me out.Thanks.

  • Why is there no * in front of delegate declaration ?

    - by gotye
    Hey guys, I just noticed there is no * in front of the declaration for a delegate ... I did something like this : @protocol NavBarHiddenDelegate; @interface AsyncImageView : UIView { NSURLConnection* connection; NSMutableData* data; UIActivityIndicatorView *indicator; id <NavBarHiddenDelegate> delegate; } @property (nonatomic, assign) id <NavBarHiddenDelegate> delegate; - (id)initWithUrl:(NSString*)url; @end @protocol NavBarHiddenDelegate - (void)hideNavBar; @end It works perfectly well but as I am used to always but a * in front of objects I declare, why not for this one ?!? Thank you, Gotye.

  • Performance of delegate and method group

    - by BlueFox
    Hi I was investigating the performance hit of creating Cachedependency objects, so I wrote a very simple test program as follows: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Web.Caching; namespace Test { internal class Program { private static readonly string[] keys = new[] {"Abc"}; private static readonly int MaxIteration = 10000000; private static void Main(string[] args) { Debug.Print("first set"); test7(); test6(); test5(); test4(); test3(); test2(); Debug.Print("second set"); test2(); test3(); test4(); test5(); test6(); test7(); } private static void test2() { DateTime start = DateTime.Now; var list = new List<CacheDependency>(); for (int i = 0; i < MaxIteration; i++) { list.Add(new CacheDependency(null, keys)); } Debug.Print("test2 Time: " + (DateTime.Now - start)); } private static void test3() { DateTime start = DateTime.Now; var list = new List<Func<CacheDependency>>(); for (int i = 0; i < MaxIteration; i++) { list.Add(() => new CacheDependency(null, keys)); } Debug.Print("test3 Time: " + (DateTime.Now - start)); } private static void test4() { var p = new Program(); DateTime start = DateTime.Now; var list = new List<Func<CacheDependency>>(); for (int i = 0; i < MaxIteration; i++) { list.Add(p.GetDep); } Debug.Print("test4 Time: " + (DateTime.Now - start)); } private static void test5() { var p = new Program(); DateTime start = DateTime.Now; var list = new List<Func<CacheDependency>>(); for (int i = 0; i < MaxIteration; i++) { list.Add(() => { return p.GetDep(); }); } Debug.Print("test5 Time: " + (DateTime.Now - start)); } private static void test6() { DateTime start = DateTime.Now; var list = new List<Func<CacheDependency>>(); for (int i = 0; i < MaxIteration; i++) { list.Add(GetDepSatic); } Debug.Print("test6 Time: " + (DateTime.Now - start)); } private static void test7() { DateTime start = DateTime.Now; var list = new List<Func<CacheDependency>>(); for (int i = 0; i < MaxIteration; i++) { list.Add(() => { return GetDepSatic(); }); } Debug.Print("test7 Time: " + (DateTime.Now - start)); } private CacheDependency GetDep() { return new CacheDependency(null, keys); } private static CacheDependency GetDepSatic() { return new CacheDependency(null, keys); } } } But I can't understand why these result looks like this: first set test7 Time: 00:00:00.4840277 test6 Time: 00:00:02.2041261 test5 Time: 00:00:00.1910109 test4 Time: 00:00:03.1401796 test3 Time: 00:00:00.1820105 test2 Time: 00:00:08.5394884 second set test2 Time: 00:00:07.7324423 test3 Time: 00:00:00.1830105 test4 Time: 00:00:02.3561347 test5 Time: 00:00:00.1750100 test6 Time: 00:00:03.2941884 test7 Time: 00:00:00.1850106 In particular: 1. Why is test4 and test6 much slower than their delegate version? I also noticed that Resharper specifically has a comment on the delegate version suggesting change test5 and test7 to "Covert to method group". Which is the same as test4 and test6 but they're actually slower? 2. I don't seem a consistent performance difference when calling test4 and test6, shouldn't static calls to be always faster?

  • Understanding Thread/BeginInvoke? [beginner]

    - by Moberg
    Consider the code: class Work { public void DoStuff(string s) { Console.WriteLine(s); // .. whatever } } class Master { private readonly Work work = new Work(); public void Execute() { string hello = "hello"; // (1) is this an ugly hack ? var thread1 = new Thread(new ParameterizedThreadStart(o => this.work.DoStuff((string)o))); thread1.Start(hello); thread1.Join(); // (2) is this similar to the one above? new Action<string>(s => this.work.DoStuff(s)).BeginInvoke(hello, null, null); } } Is (1) an acceptable way of easy starting some work in a seperate thread? If not a better alternative would be much appreciated. Is (2) doing the same? I guess what I ask is if a new thread is started, or.. Hope you can help a beginner to a better understanding :) /Moberg

  • Cocoa/MacRuby: How to write a toolbar which accepts custom items?

    - by Joseph Melettukunnel
    I'm doing my first steps in MacRuby. Does anyone know how I can add a custom Toolbar to my Cocoa/MacRuby application, which will accept "regular" items for e.g. switching the view (see http://www.stevestreeting.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/SelectableToolbarDemo001.png). I've read some tutorials and I guess I have to create a custom delegate for the Toolbar and then connect it via the Outlets window, but how does the myCustomDelegate.rb have to look like? Thanks a lot! Cheers

  • Delegate methods of NSTextField using NSNotification

    - by hekevintran
    I have an NSTokenField in a window. I am using it to store tags related to a Core Data object. Right now I have it set up such that I can add tags to the objects, but I cannot delete them. I need a delegate method on the NSTokenField that can let me know when the user has moved the focus out of the NSTokenField. Since NSTokenField is a subclass of NSTextField I figured that I could use its delegate methods. It has two that I think could be useful: - (void)textDidChange:(NSNotification *)aNotification - (void)textDidEndEditing:(NSNotification *)aNotification I set my controller class as the delegate of my NSTokenField and put both of these methods into my controller class. I put a basic NSLog into each of them and neither is triggered when I interact with the NSTokenField. I am guessing it has something to do with NSNotification. How do I activate these methods?

  • Does delegate chaining have to start with a null Delegate?

    - by MCS
    In CLR via C#, Jeffrey Richter gives the following example of delegate chaining (pg. 406): internal delegate void Feedback(Int 32 value); Feedback fb1 = new Feedback(method1); // in the book, these methods Feedback fb2 = new Feedback(method2); // have different names Feedback fb3 = new Feedback(method3); Feedback fbChain = null; fbChain = (Feedback) Delegate.Combine(fbChain, fb1); fbChain = (Feedback) Delegate.Combine(fbChain, fb2); fbChain = (Feedback) Delegate.Combine(fbChain, fb3); Why does the first call to Delegate.Combine have to pass in a null Delegate? Here's how I would have thought it should be written: Feedback fbChain = (Feedback) Delegate.Combine(fb1, fb2); fbChain = (Feedback) Delegate.Combine(fbchain, fb3);

  • Accessing ViewController's variables from UIActionSheet delegate

    Hello. When user clicks on a button representing and email, I want to execute the following code: - (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if ([emails count] >= buttonIndex) { NSString *contactEmail = (NSString *)[emails objectAtIndex:buttonIndex]; ... } } But emails array hasn't got any email. What I'm doing wrong? I'm developing for iPhone.

  • Why is one Func valid and the other (almost identical) not.

    - by runrunraygun
    private static Dictionary<Type, Func<string, object>> _parseActions = new Dictionary<Type, Func<string, object>> { { typeof(bool), value => {Convert.ToBoolean(value) ;}} }; The above gives an error Error 14 Not all code paths return a value in lambda expression of type 'System.Func<string,object>' However this below is ok. private static Dictionary<Type, Func<string, object>> _parseActions = new Dictionary<Type, Func<string, object>> { { typeof(bool), value => Convert.ToBoolean(value) } }; I don't understand the difference between the two. I thought the extra braces in example1 are to allow us to use multiple lines in the anon function so why have they affected the meaning of the code?

  • Delegate won't update page

    - by mat690
    I am trying to change the active index of a multiview by using a delegate and it doesn't work as i expect. this is my code protected void ucWaitPage_FinishedWaiting(PerformAfterWaitDelegate performAfterWait) { performAfterWait.Invoke(); this.SetIndex(); } private void SetIndex() { this.mvwTest.ActiveViewIndex = 0; } The performAfterWait Delegate points to the SetIndex() method. When the performAfterWait delegate gets invoked SetIndex() gets called but when SetIndex() returns this.mvwTest.ActiveViewIndex reverts to being equal to 1. However when i call the SetIndex() method directly it sets this.mvwTest.ActiveViewIndex = 0 and the change persists when the method returns.

  • Can I "inherit" a delegate? Looking for ways to combine Moq and MSpec without conflicts around It...

    - by Tomas Lycken
    I have started to use MSpec for BDD, and since long ago I use Moq as my mocking framework. However, they both define It, which means I can't have using Moq and using Machine.Specifications in the same code file without having to specify the namespace explicitly each time I use It. Anyone who's used MSpec knows this isn't really an option. I googled for solutions to this problem, and this blogger mentions having forked MSpec for himself, and implemented paralell support for Given, When, Then. I'd like to do this, but I can't figure out how to declare for example Given without having to go through the entire framework looking for references to Establish, and changing code there to match that I want either to be OK. For reference, the Establish, Because and It are declared in the following way: public delegate void Establish(); public delegate void Because(); public delegate void It(); What I need is to somehow declare Given, so that everywhere the code looks for an Establish, Given is also OK.

I want to be able to pass the event and not the object housing the event to the StartListening method.
