  • Initialize a Variable Again.

    That may sound a little confusing. Basically, I have a function CCard newCard() { /* Used to store the string variables intermittantly */ std::stringstream ssPIN, ssBN; int picker1, picker2; int pin, bankNum; /* Choose 5 random variables, store them in stream */ for( int loop = 0; loop < 5; ++loop ) { picker1 = rand() % 8 + 1; picker2 = rand() % 8 + 1; ssPIN << picker1; ssBN << picker2; } /* Convert them */ ssPIN >> pin; ssBN >> bankNum; CCard card( pin, bankNum ); return card; } that creates a new CCard variable and returns it to the caller CCard card = newCard(); My teacher advised me that doing this is a violation of OOP principles and has to be put in the class. He told me to use this method as a constructor. Which I did: CCard::CCard() { m_Sperre = false; m_Guthaben = rand() % 1000; /* Work */ /* Convert them */ ssPIN >> m_Geheimzahl; ssBN >> m_Nummer; } All variables with m_ are member variables. However, the constructor works when I initialize the card normally CCard card(); at the start of the program. However, I also have a function, that is supposed to create a new card and return it to the user, this function is now broken. The original command: card = newCard(); isn't available anymore, and card = new CCard(); doesn't work. What other options do I have? I have a feeling using the constructor won't work, and that I probably should just create a class method newCard, but I want to see if it is somehow at all possible to do it the way the teacher wanted. This is creating a lot of headaches for me. I told the teacher that this is a stupid idea and not everything has to be classed in OOP. He has since told me that Java or C# don't allow code outside of classes, which sounds a little incredible. Not sure that you can do this in C++, especially when templated functions exist, or generic algorithms. Is it true that this would be bad code for OOP in C++ if I didn't force it into a class?

  • Program LED with just USB port

    I want to control LED with C# using only USB port. I don't want to attach any other device with USB. I just want to attach LED directly to USB port pins and program it (blink etc). How can i do that? I am new to hardware programming and it will be my first program. EDIT: I can do it already (blink LED) using printer port by attaching one led pin to data pin and other to ground. How can i do the same with USB port? My motherboard does not have a printer port. USB is the only option.

Now, I retrieve all the data in iPhone through web-service & NSURLRequest. Now, Following is my Problem. When user Clicks on a school ( in tableView ).   • Is it stable to change I/O direction on microcontroller repeatedly?

    I'm new to microcontroller programming and I have interfaced my microcontroller board to another device that provides a status based on the command send to it but, this status is provided on the same I/O pin that is used to provide data. So basically, I have an 8-bit data line that is used as an output from the microcontroller, but for certain commands I get a status back on one of the data lines if I choose to read it. So I would be required to change the direction of this one line to read the status thus converting this line as an ouput to an input and then back to an output. Is this acceptable programming or will this changing of the I/O pin this frequently cause instability? Thanks.

  • jQuery Mobile focus next input on keypress

    I have a jquery mobile site with a html form consisting of 4 pin entry input boxes. I want the user to be able to enter a pin in each input field without having to press the iphone keyboards "next" button. I have tried the following and although it appears to set the focus to the second input and insert the value, the keyboard disappears so the user still has to activate the required input with a tap event. $('#txtPin1').keypress(function() { $('#txtPin1').bind('change', function(){ $("#txtPin1").val($("#txtPin1").val()); }); $("#txtPin2").focus(); $("#txtPin2").val('pin2'); }); Is there a different event that I should be assigning to $("#txtPin2")? I have tried to implement http://jqueryminute.com/set-focus-to-the-next-input-field-with-jquery/ this also, but I found that it worked for android and not for iphone. Any help is greatly appreciate it.

  • Generate custom marker (icon) out of two images in Leaflet

    In Javascript/CoffeeScript, using Leaflet to display a map, I would like to have custom markers out of a two custom images, and also featuring a shadow for the pin : I want to have a "background" image with a color (or shape) to identify the category On top, I want to have inside this image a specific image (logo) for each pin I didn't find out how I could do that... Setting one image is quite easy but I don't know how to overlay them. I could also consider using a tool to superpose/group/overlay these images (locally ?) before in order to send only one to the Icon Leaflet Class, but also there, I wouldn't know which tool to use. Nevertheless, I still think that a double overlay would be more efficient and that my case could be useful for several people.

  • Internet Explorer 9 RC Now Available: Here’s the Most Interesting New Stuff

    Yesterday Microsoft announced the release candidate of Internet Explorer 9, which is very close to the final product. Here’s a screenshot tour of the most interesting new stuff, as well as answers to your questions. The most important question is should you install this version? And the answer is absolutely yes. Even if you don’t use IE, it’s better to have a newer, more secure version on your PC. What’s New Under the Hood in Release Candidate vs Beta? If you want to see the full list of changes with all the original marketing detail, you can read Microsoft’s Beauty of the Web page, but here’s the highlights that you might be interested in. Improved Performance – they’ve made a lot of changes, and it really feels faster, especially when using more intensive web apps like Gmail. Power Consumption Settings – since the JavaScript engine in any browser uses a lot of CPU power, they’ve now integrated it into the power settings, so if you’re on battery it will use less CPU, and save battery life. This is really a great change. UI Changes – The tab bar can now be moved below the address bar (see below for more), they’ve shaved some pixels off the design to save space, and now you can toggle the Menu bar to be always on. Pinned Sites – now you can pin multiple pages to a single taskbar button. Very useful if you always use a couple web apps together. You can also pin a site in InPrivate mode. FlashBlock and AdBlock are Integrated (sorta) – there’s a new ActiveX filtering that lets you enable plug-ins only for sites you trust. There’s also a tracking protection list that can block certain content (which can obviously be used to block ads). Geolocation – while a lot of privacy conscious people might complain about this, if you use your laptop while traveling, it’s really useful to have geo-located features when using Google Maps, etc. Don’t worry, it won’t leak your privacy by default. WebM Video – Yeah, Google recently removed H.264 from Chrome, but Microsoft has added Google’s WebM video format to Internet Explorer.   • Workspace switching erroneously pins windows

    When switching from one workspace to the next using the Workspace switcher in the Launcher, I often see an orange square highlight, as if I am trying to pin a window to one side of the screen appear, although no window is even selected. Then after selecting a window, it is moved to the orange pinned position, which is frustrating. How do I fix this unwanted erroneous window pinning? I'm running Ubuntu 11.10. See screenshot:

  • changing default text input on nexus 7 ubuntu to bluetooth keyboard

    i was curious if it was possible to use a logitech bluetooth keyboard for android 4.0+ with ubuntu on nexus 7? i was able to connect the keyboard regularly with the gui, the pin worked, so i would assume it is a matter of changing the default text input. i searched all of the settings i could find without finding any such option any help would be appreciated, if this is not possible feel free to say so and close this thread

  • Network manager broadband modem BUG

    just upgraded to ubuntu 12.10 from 12.04 using wvdial to connect to the internet (network manager doesn't detect my modem Huawei E367 ), though the new network manager detected my modem and asked me the enter the PIN, it doesn't connect, it shows my provider (Orange TN) and the signal (2 bars) but dosn't connect and I can't clic on the name of my broadband (ORANGE TN) . Just hoping that there will be a bug-fix for it or any other solution so I can go back to using the network manger :)
