• Secure Store Service Application not available in SharePoint 2010 Standard

Now, the problem is we are looking for Secure Store Service on 'Services on Server' page in Central Administration, but we didn't see it.   Sometimes it's very confusing how Sharepoint 2010 group creation works Here's a scenario we have been facing from a long time wrt groups in SharePoint 2010 We had requirement of creating a two custom groups followed by creating a custom site through programmatically, For the most case the scenario works as how it is excepted to work. but, out of 1/100 site creation process the groups creation fails, which means we were able to access the group and users associated with it through programmatically. but, when it comes to UI stand point if you try to access the specific group page from the site permissions page - SharePoint returns a BLANK WHITE Page... BLANK WHITE Page... nothing else... Ain't is this a Sharepoint 2010 issue. or anybody had this problem and fixed it. Kindly share your thoughts

• Is there a search engine that indexes source code of a web-page?

  I need to search the web for sites that are in our industry that use the same Adwords management company, to ensure that the said company is not violating our contract, as they have been accused of doing. They use a tracking code in the template of every page which has a certain domain in the URL, and I'm wondering if it's possible "Google" the source code using some bot that crawls the code rather than the content? For example, I bought an unlimited license for an image gallery, and I was asked to type the license number in a comment just before the script. I thought it was just so a human could look at the source and find out if someone paid, but it turned out that it was actually that they had a crawler looking for their source code and that comment. If it ran across the code on your site, it would look for the comment, and if it found one, it would check to see if it was an existing one. If not, it would first notify you of your noncompliance, and then notify the owner of the script. Edit: I'm looking to index HTML and JavaScript only, not the server-side languages or Java.

  SharePoint 2010 Training: more information GAC and SharePoint have had a funny love & hate relationship. In 2007, SharePoint and GAC fell in love. GAC was about the only practical alternative to deploying custom code. Here is a dirty secret, based on completely unscientific and unfounded research, I can tell you that 99% of SharePoint code written, ended up in the GAC. Yes, I know GAC rhymes with hack, crack, smack, and even mac, but still it was the better alternative. You could write CAS policies and put your DLLs in the bin folder, but it was mighty inconvenient to both write, and maintain. Most of us never did it. There are still some SharePoint developers out there insisting on the bin approach – well, get over it; you’re not winning the fight. CAS is about as outdated as Samantha Fox anyway. What you do is, open the view in SharePoint Designer, then you click on the field you wish to see the ECB menu in, then you will see a little floatie button with this on it ">", then, you click on that floatie, and it shows a little popup with 2 checkboxes in it. • Replication keeps popping up on SharePoint databases

  My typical discovery scenario: We receive an alert that the transaction log is growing quickly. We are in Simple Recovery so I go to check it out. Log is already sized to 100GB and is at 80% capacity. I run the "Whats using my log files" script from SQL Server Central and see that Replication is enabled on the database. We do not set up replication, and I don't think Replication can be done on SharePoint content db's as Replication is not supported (requires PK on all tables). This has been occurring on random servers (about 5 so far, all within the past three weeks) and it only occurs on Content Databases. sp_removedbreplication does not always work in removing the Replication either. We have found that we need to run the sp_removedbreplication, change all db owners to SA and reset Recovery Mode to Simple to completely eradicate any vestiges of this bug. How would Replication be enabling itself? We have never set up Replication on these servers. There is no evidence of any type of Replication other than the 'log_reuse_wait_desc' from the DMV query and log growth. Any help on this ghost would be appreciated!

(*.doc,*.txt, *.inf, ...), not (*.conf, *.dat, *.*, ...) Microsoft search filters don't contain any filter I can use for this. Any idea?

• SharePoint 2010 Hosting :: Error – HTTP Error 401.1 when Accessing Your SharePoint 2010 Site

  When attempting to view a MOSS (SharePoint) 2007 or SharePoint 2010 site locally from a Web Front End (WFE) you get an error stating: “HTTP Error 401.1 – Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.” I have noticed that this happens on Windows 2003/2008 Server SP1/SP2/R2 when using Host Headers and Alternate Access Mappings on a web application in MOSS 2007. If you can access the site from remote machines and cannot access the site from the server itself, then this might be your issue. For all my newer farm installs this includes SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) and SharePoint 2010. I use method number 2 on all SharePoint and SQL Servers in the farm. If you cannot access the web site locally or remotely from other machines then there is an issue with security on the site and/or possibly a Kerberos related security issue I implemented fix #2 listed in the following Microsoft KB Article. I implemented this fix on all servers in the MOSS 2007 Farm (WFE’s and Indexing/Search Server). If using method 1, you would add all Host Headers and Alternate Access Mappings for all web applications to the BackConnectionHostNames value, then you will be able to access the sites locally from the WFE’s. Microsoft KB Link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 Method 1: Specify Host Names Please follow this steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. 2. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0 3. Right-click MSV1_0, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value. 4. Type BackConnectionHostNames, and then press ENTER. 5. Right-click BackConnectionHostNames, and then click Modify. 6. In the Value data box, type the host name or the host names for the sites that are on the local computer, and then click OK. 7. Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the IISAdmin service. Method 2: Disable the Loopback Check  Please follow this steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK 2. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa 3. Right-click Lsa, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. 4.   Hi all: I have a list of fields/columns that comprises of Sharepoint specific fields/columns, my own custom fields/columns, and a bunch of custom fields/columns created by someone else (which I dont know what they are yet). My goal is to get the list of the fields/columnns created by that someone else. My first hurdle lies in how to tell which ones are from Sharepoint. • Google Custom Search Engine not giving the expected search result.

  Hi, I have been trying to create a new google custom search engine, but when I try some query,the search engine it is not giving me the expected search result.On some queries it is working fine, but on other queries, it says"no result". I tried adding the URL of the website that I wanted to search for, but there are certain pages and keywords that are not coming up in the search result when I try to search for the keyword of that page. I tired adding both the main page URL and the URL of the sub page that I want to search for, but nothing is working. There are some sub pages to the main URL that are coming in the search result.

• Windows 7 search does not return results from indexed folders

  I am experiencing this issue over and over again and I just cannot seem to find the answer. It doesn't make sense, but search simply does not return results from folders that certainly have these files inside. It's weird that this technology exists for more than 5 years now (it could be added to Windows XP as an addon), and they still haven't got it right. My folder contains 10 image files with .png extensions. Two scenarios: Scenario 1: I exclude the folder using Indexing options. Search works. Scenario 2: I turn on indexing for this folder. Search does not work. Of course, Agent Ransack returns results every time. When I check Advanced options for the Indexing options inside control panel, .png files are checked in the File Types tab, using the "File Properties filter". What's the deal with this? [Edit] To clarify, this doesn't happen with all folders, but does with more than one. For the "problematic" folders, even *.* doesn't return a single result. I found some advice to clear the archive and readonly attributes for all files (doesn't make sense, but hey), but it didn't work. Indexing status in Control panel is: Indexing complete. 100,000 items indexed. Folder is included in the list. File types list contains the .png extension (although it doesn't work with any filter, not even *.*).

• You Can&rsquo;t Upload An Empty File To SharePoint 2007 Or SharePoint 2010

  The title of this post is pretty self explanatory, but I thought it worth mentioning since I had never run across this rule until just recently.  A few weeks ago I was testing out a new workflow attached to a SharePoint 2007 document library.  I uploaded various file types to ensure all were handled properly.  One of the files I happened to test with was an empty .txt file to which I got the following error.      As you can see from the error message you aren’t allowed to upload a file that is empty.  Fast forward to this week when I was doing some research for my upcoming SharePoint 2010 beta exams.  I remembered that error I got a few weeks ago and decided to try out with SharePoint 2010 as well.  No surprises I got a similar error. Conclusion     Next time you are uploading files to a SharePoint 2007 or 2010 document library, make sure the file is not empty.  Coincidentally when I tweeted about this issue a few friends replied that they had also found this error recently.  I don’t know the internal reasoning why this is prevented but I assume it has something to do with how the blob for the file is stored in the database.  I assume that this would still be the case even if you had Remote Blob Storage (RBS) configured for your farm, but don’t have access to such a farm to confirm.  If anyone reading this does have access and wants to confirm that would be appreciated, just leave a comment.         -Frog Out

So, how big can your SharePoint 2010 installation be? There are three kinds of limits you should know about Hard limits that cannot be exceeded by design. Configurable that are, well configurable – but the default values are set for a pretty good reason, so if you need to tweak, plan and understand before you tweak. Soft limits, you can exceed them, but it is not recommended that you do. Before you read any of the limits, read these two important disclaimers - 1. The limit depends on what you’re doing. So, don’t take the below as gospel, the reality depends on your situation. 2. There are many additional considerations in planning your SharePoint solution scalability and performance, besides just the below. So with those in mind, here goes.   Hard Limits - Zones per web app 5 RBS NAS performance Time to first byte of any response from NAS must be less than 20 milliseconds List row size 8000 bytes driven by how SP stores list items internally Max file size 2GB (default is 50MB, configurable). • Where do I find scripts generated by SharePoint MCMS Migration Profiles

  I am attempting to migrate data from an Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 instance into a new Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) 2007 installation using the Manage Microsoft Content Management Server Migration Profiles tool in the Operations space of MOSS Central Administration. When analyzing the profile, I receive 4 warnings, all of which may be safely ignored, but when I actually execute the migration profile, I get the same warnings and an additional error with a description of: Line 6: Incorrect syntax near ';'. I have seen this error numerous times when mucking about in SQL Server and recognize it as a Transact SQL error message, but can't find the actual SQL statement that is being executed so that I may determine the source of the error. EDIT: After enabling verbose logging on the MCMS 2002 Migration category, and poring through the Unified Logging Service (ULS) logs, I received a more complete stack trace at the point of the error, and a couple more anomalies listed below. According to the documentation, warnings are not sufficient cause to stop migration from occurring. Other anomalies are on lines 7-20 indicating a series of tests that are skipped because database check is blocked. The ULS doesn't give any additional warnings to indicate that the database check was blocked or exited in exceptional circumstances. After switching the profile from pre-migration analysis to exporting, there is one medium level warning that LastChangeTime is not set or incorrect. (null). As with all the skipped test names and SQL table names from the warnings, the major search engines are unable (with the exception of LayoutProperty) to find any reference to these objects or tests.
