• User error reporting in ASP.NET.

Problem is i need the same module be implemented for 3 different systems and to use jQuery UI modal boxes for UI. when i redirect to another page ie. db connection error i redirect to error page when i use return to same page ie. input value 1 bigger than value 2 when it should be other way around ASP.NET Ajax UpdatePanel errors, wrong input for controls within UpdatePanel that doesn't do regular postpacks. thanks for any help with implementation...

  jsfddle page I am currently using bootstrap modal , which is a jquery plugin to create a popup box, here is its documentation, only few lines, so it takes a minute to read only I encountered problem in 3 aspect : How can i define the size of the modal(pop up box)? • jQuery slider - set background color to show desired range

  Howdy, I'm setting up a Filament Group jQuery UI slider and using it in a gradebook. We need to allow teachers to set a desired background range (to show the desirable values vs. the actual value for a given grade). I'm hoping to set a shaded area (as shown in this picture) that would indicate to people viewing the slider which values are desirable. If the handle is within the desired ranges, then the value is satisfactory. If the handle is out of the background shaded range, then some changes may need to happen. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? Based on what I've experimented with using Firebug, it looks like a <div class="ui-slider"> is setup, but the values inside of it don't seem to allow setting background-colors (only the div allows for that). • UI to allow 700+ multiple choices

  In my desktop .NET application I have written(for internal use) where I need to allow my users to apply diagnosis's to a Member Plan. There are currently 700 in the system and growing. I need to allow them to add multiple diapnosis's at once. I currently am allowing this through a combo check list box. This works but is INSANELY unweildly for both myself and the users. What I am looking for is a how I could go about displaying these to the users. Ideally I would need to show two criteria for each each as well. Diagnosis Name and Diagnosis Code Ideas? How would you tackle this? I am using .Net 3.5sp1 and SQL 2005 for the backend. I don't care if the solution is WPF or Winforms.

  I have multiple templates which differs with each other only by few containers. The most complex one contains superset of all containers used in all other one thus to avoid creating multiple templates I created the most complex one in following format some layout stuff (div and all) defining nested insert for each container and content. Now in client template based on what is needed I turn off container which is not needed as else if container is needed, just define content as doSomething Please let me know if you guys see any issues with this approach, any potential problem or alternate approach for similar scenario. thanks a lot. • UI updates not happening in the expected order

  I have a Panel which hosts a number of child controls in a grid layout. The child controls each consist of a Panel with a PictureBox and a Label. When one of these child controls is clicked it becomes "selected" (which basically entails changing its background to a different color) and an event is fired. In the handler for this event, an image is displayed in a PictureBox on a separate form. In code, the background of the child control is definitely changed before firing the event, but for some reason it never updates at runtime until after the image has updated in the other Form. I've tried to Invalidate() and Refresh() the child control before firing the event, without effect. Why is this happening, and what can I do to set it right?

  Hello, I have a page that uses multiple dialogs for different things. Some dialogs may have buttons that others do not while other may need to be a different height than another... All of them have a set of params that will not change. My question, can I have a default like: $('.someElement').dialog({ width: 999, show: 'slide', hide: 'slide', ETC: 'some other option' }); and use it for all of my dialogs, then pass buttons or height to it dynamically when I open a dialog? It just seems wrong to have something like the above for every dialog I need... Thanks!

• Sidescrolling UI on iPhone

  Please lead me in the right direction. I need to provide user with small text centered on the iPhone screen. User can make quick scroll left or right in order to get the next or previous text. There can be hundreds of such text pieces. The process itself is similar to Photo application sidescrolling but much simple, no zoom. As far as I can understand I need to use UIScrollView class, then call hundreds of addSubviews? Is it the optimal way or I should always keep 3 subviews and replace them on the fly? What kind of tricks should be used to achieve the "scroll and center" effect? Thanks

• unreachable subnet in one direction

  I'm unable to route traffic to a subnet in my home. Here's my topology: INET <- Router A <- Router B <- WIFI AP where: Router A - ARRIS TG862G/CT (from comcast) - WAN DHCP, LAN 10.0.0.99 Router B - Linksys WRT400N with DD-WRT - WAN 10.0.0.12 , LAN 10.0.1.1 I was able to use DD-WRT to configure a static route for the 10.0.1.x network back to the 10.0.0.x network. But I'm not sure if i can do the reverse on the ARRIS router and was looking for suggestions on how to fix that. I've set things up this wasy because I am using OpenDNS to mange internet content for my kids and of course I wasn't able to configure DNS to my liking on Router A either. So at present I'm using Router A on 10.0.0.x to provide a private unfiltered WIFI AP (no ssid broadcast) that I use for netflix only and then I use router B to provide a filtered WIFI AP for the rest of my WIFI devices on 10.0.1.x. However I would like to be able to connect to my 10.0.1.x devices from the internet via dynamic dns; but I can't see anything behind router B this way. Thoughts?

• Partition tool with console UI (as in server installation)?

  Back in 2006, Ray (3DLover) posted the same question in: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=309680 but none of the answers were really useful. Now with a little help from AskUbuntu community, I would like to repeat his question again to see if this time it can be answered correctly. So this is the question (and what I wish too): I'm looking for a UI tool for managing partitions in a console. I have installed Ubuntu Server, so I don't have X Windows at all. fdisk and sfdisk are entirely command line. parted is slightly better, but it's not really a UI. cfdisk has somewhat of a UI, but it only works on one disk at a time, and there's no advanced options like configuring LVM or RAID. Just partitioning. I love the partition tool that is available during the OS install procedure. You can partition, configure RAID's and LMV sets. It can format the partitions with several different file systems, it can set labels, mount options and it can insert your volumes into your fstab. Is this tool available as a stand-alone program? I can't find it anywhere. I think it's called parted_server, but I can't find much information about where to get it. In the past, I have run the Ubuntu install procedure just to use the partition manager that comes with it. (canceling the install after making my partition edits) Anyone help me on this?   Sorry, this is going to be long and rambly. So, at home my network is set up as such: I have a "master router" that handles DHCP, from there I have a basic 5 port switch, and coming off that, I have a second router that I put in access point mode so that I could have better wireless coverage in my house. I cant seem to access it through a web browser since the master router kicked in and assigned it an ip address. But, i told you all that story, so that i could tell you this story. At the company I work for, they are trying to set up wireless cameras, according to the manual for these, in order to connect these cameras to our network, we need to get into the wireless router and associate the router with the cameras, but the problem is, the network is setup like my home network. Theres a "master router" which is a windows 2003 server, and then a wireless router in AP mode dishing out wireless access. I cant get into the router (by the way I'm not the system admin for the company, nor do i know jack squat about windows server , nor can I easily get in contact with the system admin. (quite the cluster f*k, eh?)) I've tried using wireshark to find the routers ip, dug through arp tables, tried plugging straight into the router, but I cant seem to get into the damn thing. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• Is there a small business router that shows bandwidth usage graphs in the admin panel?

  I support a large number of public libraries that are having their networks upgraded in response to a grant application. These libraries are generally home to between 6-15 computers and have little or no tech services either onsite or contracted remotely. In order to justify current and future purchases, a number of the libraries have requested routers that can provide bandwidth usage graphs that they can show to their managing boards. Is there a small business router that displays traffic graphs in the router administration web interface? The router needs to suppport DHCP and basic firewalling. No other features are required. Further, the reports just need to show overall trends. It is not necessary to show traffic by IP, by protocol/application, or by time of day. They just need an overall week to week, month to month, trend line. I'm familiar with MRTG/PRTG/tools that collect SNMP data from the router, but the libraries don't have the expertise for the configuration. I've considered installing the tomato firmware on some cheap home/home office routers, but if there's a commercial product that can be purchased that would be significantly simpler. Also the library boards would be much more likely to approve the purchase of a commercial product over a 'hacked' one. Any assistance would be appreciated.

• Why is the link between my switch and my router always negotiating half-duplex mode?

  I have a Cisco 2950 switch which has one of its ports connected to an Internet router provided by my ISP; I have no access to the router configuration, but I manage the switch. If I leave all switch ports with their default setup (auto-negotiation of speed and duplex mode), this link always connects at 100 MBit/s, but in half-duplex mode. I've tried replacing the cable, and also moving the link to another switch port: the result is always the same. A different device connected to the same port (or to any switch port, really) shows no problem at all. It could be guesed that someone configured the router to only connect in half-duplex mode... BUT, here's the catch: if I manually force the switch port to full-duplex mode (duplex full in the interface configuration), the link goes up, stays up and is completely stable. So: The connection is not forced to half-duplex mode by the router, otherwise it would not connect at all if I force the switch end to full-duplex. There is no actual link problem, otherwise the full-duplex connection would not go up or would at least show some errors. But if I leave the port free to auto-negotiate, it always connects in half-duplex mode. Why?

The network is hidden and secured by WPA/WPA2 Personal, I am the only person having this problem, so I guess it's somewhere on my side. What could cause such a problem, how to diagnose it and finally how to fix it?

• WPF: Updating visibility of controls not updating the screen

  I will preface this by stating that I am new to WPF programming and may be making multiple errors. Any insight that can be provided to help me improve in my skills are greatly appreciated. I am working with a WPF application and am looping through a list of objects that contain properties that describe a document that should be built on the fly and automatically printed. I am attempting to display a small grid in the interface that shows the document being built before it is printed. This serves two purposes: one, it allows the user to see work being done by the application. Two, it renders the items on the screen so that I can then have something to actually print since WPF appears to not be able to load an image for printing dynamicaly without displaying it on the screen. In my code, I am setting the various elements in the grid and setting the visibility to visible. However, the UI is not updating and the printed document doesn't look as intended since the image never shows up on the screen. Basically it builds a visual element for a page, prints an XPS version of it and then builds the next page and prints it, etc. Once all pages have been processed, the job is actually sent to the printer. The only purpose of this application is to let the user print these documents so there is not other task that they can do in the application while the documents print. I thought that putting this task in a background thread would help to update the UI but since I am trying to manipulate items directly on the UI thread it would appear that this option won't work for me. What am I doing wrong here and how can I improve the code so that I can get the behavior that I am trying to achieve?

• How do I set up a shared internet on a network using computer hooked up to a router

  I got a wireless broadband modem (Huawei E1750) hooked up to my computer (call it A., running Windows-7) whose internet I wish to share to my other computer (call it B., also running Windows-7). A. is hooked up to my d-link DIR-600 router using a wired connection to port 1 on the router. B. is connected to the router using a wireless connection. Now I have tried setting up the sharing according to the help files for ICS but I have not been able to get it working. I suspect that there is something in my hardware configuration that is making it difficult. I would appreciate some tips and pointers as to what could be the reason to my problems.
