• Visual Studio 2008 patching without suppressing database

  Hi, I made a program using visual c# which connects to a local .mdf sql database. I've published it using the Publish Wizard, used the files on another computer to install it and it worked fine. However, some bugs were discovered. I've corrected the problems, published it again and tried to patch the program on the 2nd computer. After much trials and errors, fastest way to patch is to overwrite the .application file. Suprisingly, the database was also overwritten. Question is: How do I make new version of the program and install it on the other computer without modifying the database? On developping computer, database appears as a .mdf file which can be copied, but on 2nd computer this file does not exists. Supplementary info: -Developping computer: Vista, using Visual Studio 2008 with Server 2005 -2nd computer: XP using microsoft express server 2005

• Visual C++: breakpoints disabled

  I have a 'release with debug info' unmanaged c++ .exe (built with VS2005) deployed onto another PC, the .exe and .pdb are in the same folder. When I try to attach to the process from VS2005, either locally or remotely from my dev PC, all my breakpoints become disabled. I don't get any warning/error popups which makes me think the PDB file is being found, but not seen as 'good'. Is that the right interpretation? I think if it couldn't see the PDB I'd get a "no debug information could be found" popup. Has anyone got any ideas what can be wrong?

• MochaUI: 'A is null' when adding columns

  I've just downloaded MochaUI, and I'm playing around trying to build an interface. I've successfully created windows, but I'm having trouble when it comes to layouts with columns. I've included all of the libraries in the same order as the demo, and this is in my init code: window.addEvent('domready', function(){ new MochaUI.Column({ id: 'sideColumn1', placement: 'left', width: 200, resizeLimit: [100, 300] }); }); When run, no column is created and I get the error: A is null Does anyone have any ideas? • Dll in both the bin and the gac, which one gets used?

  We have a web application that's deployed to many websites with only frontend changes, the shared backend portion has it's DLL in the GAC so we only have to update that one dll and all the sites get the update. Is there a way to override the GAC with a DLL in the /bin folder to test out new features before they get released?

How can I make it run?

• MySQL developer here -- Nesting with select * finicky in Oracle 10g?

  I'm writing a simple diagnostic query then attempting to execute it in the Oracle 10g SQL Scratchpad. EDIT: It will not be used in code. I'm nesting a simple "Select *" and it's giving me errors. In the SQL Scratchpad for Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager Console, this statement runs fine. SELECT * FROM v$session sess, v$sql sql WHERE sql.sql_id(+) = sess.sql_id and sql.sql_text <> ' ' If I try to wrap that up in Select * from () tb2 I get an error, "ORA-00918: Column Ambiguously Defined". I didn't think that could ever happen with this kind of statement so I am a bit confused. select * from (SELECT * FROM v$session sess, v$sql sql WHERE sql.sql_id(+) = sess.sql_id and sql.sql_text <> ' ') tb2 You should always be able to select * from the result set of another select * statement using this structure as far as I'm aware... right? Is Oracle/10g/the scratchpad trying to force me to accept a certain syntactic structure to prevent excessive nesting? Is this a bug in scratchpad or something about how oracle works?

• dijit hovering MenuItem issue

  I have a dijit.layout.TabContainer on my form. I resize the browser window in such a way that all tabs won't fit in a single screen. In this case dijit automatically adds a drop-down button at the right end of the TabContainer (I get this for free). If I click on the drop-down button then I get the full List of Tab Names. Hovering over the List of Tab Names (which is in fact a collection of menu items) it blanks out the menu item name which I'm currently over. e.g. Full List: Tab1 Tab2 Tab3 Hovering over Tab2 I get: Tab1 Tab3 I get the same issue with any other dijit.Menu, dijit.MenuItem AND I get the same issue on IE, Firefox, Chrome. I haven't tested on any other browser. Thanks.

• Need to tab out of ActiveX control in browser

  When tabbing through controls in an ActiveX control hosted in IE, once I get to the last control the tab key no longer does anything. I would like it to move the focus outside the ActiveX control to the next html control. This works fine when the ActiveX control is hosted in a WinForms app, does anybody know how to make this work in the browser? It may also be relevant that the ActiveX control is a simple wrapper around a WPF control.

• Boost Filesystem Library Visual C++ Compile Error

  I'm having the following issue just trying to compile/run some of the example programs with the Boost Filesystem Library. I'm using MS-Visual C++ with Visual Studio .NET (2003). I've installed the Boost libraries, version 1.38 and 1.39 (just in case there was a version problem) using the BoostPro installers. If I just try to include /boost/filesystem/operations.hpp I receive the following error: \boost_1_38\boost\system\error_code.hpp(230) : error C2039: 'type' : is not a member of 'boost::enable_if<boost::system::is_error_condition_enum<Cond,boost::detail::enable_if_default_T>' Any help is greatly appreciated. • SlideUp a div if any other div is slided down with jQuery

  I have made a function to slidedown different div's by clicking different links. Following is basic code. However, there's a little problem that, for example, if i click on first link, it slides down div. Now If i click on next link, it keeps the first div, and slides down the second div. However I want to do it so that, if there is any div slided down, and I click on any link, it should slide up the previous div and slide down the newer one. I will appriciate your help in this regard. • Jquery attach show event to select option

  Hi, I have a select form element with 5 options. If option 2 is selected I want to display another form input box (this has a style of display:none initially). How can I attach an event to option 2 so that whenever it is selected the input box is shown otherwise it is hidden. I have this currently but this does not handle is option 2 is already selected when the page loads $('#type').change(function(){ var typeSelected = $(this).val(); if (typeSelected == 2) { $('#extraInput').show(); } }); I know I could add another bit of code which checks what is selected on page load but wondered if there was a neater way of doing this. Also something that could handle the hiding of the input box if option 2 is not selected at the start as currently I have just hard-coded style="display:none" onto the input box but I would prefer this to be dynamic. • SWIG-Lua question on class returning another class

  I am concreting a question I had earlier. I have two classes in C++ and I use SWIG to wrap them. A method in one class can return a pointer to the other class. How can I get Lua to see it as more than just a userdata? More concretely: I have class fruit { int numberofseeds; //some other stuff about fruit constructors etc... public: getseedcount() { return numberofseeds; } } class tree { fruit * apple; public: //constructors and whatnot fruit * getfruit() { return apple; } } I wrap these two class with SWIG so I can access them in Lua So I can get in Lua the object x=pomona.tree(grannysmith). My question now is: How can I arrange for things so that when I type y=x:getfruit() I will get a pomona:fruit type object? Where I can write something line y:getseedcount()? At the moment all I get is userdata which not edible.

  Hi all, I have around 8000 xml files that needs to be converted into text files. The text file must contain title, description and keywords of the xml file without the tags and removing other elements and attributes as well. In other words, i need to create 8000 text files containing the title,description and keywords of the xml file. I need codings for this to be done systematically.
