  • Generating dynamic C# based on textual data into the runtime?

    Is there a quick and easy way to load textual C# into a program. I would like to load the LINQ from the database as an Expression and run it against some data (SQL or Array/List don't mind). I know I can do it using the C# CodeDom/ExpressionTree builder with Assembly Loading and Creating AppDomains, but this seems very long winded. Is there an easier way. I thought with the advent of .net 3.5 that the ExpressionTree would come to my aid, but I now realise that I have to write a parser to use this. Maybe there is a new trick in 4.0? Something along the lines of a dynamic languages Parse would be great. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • PHP Captcha without session

    Ok, here is an issue: in the project i'm working on, we can't rely on server-side sessions for any functionality. The problem is that common captcha solutions from preventing robotic submits require session to store the string to match captcha against. The question is - is there any way to solve the problem without using sessions? What comes to my mind - is serving hidden form field, containing some hash, along with captcha input field, so that server then can match these two values together. But how can we make this method secure, so that it couldn't be used to break captcha easily.

For example: index.php - the main plugin file info.php - returns an array with plugin information install.php - self-explanatory can you think of an elegant, short-hand name for a PHP file that contains the code that is to be executed before any HTML is output? Do any examples from other frameworks come to your mind? What I have been thinking of: head.php - misleading, could be mixed up with HTML <head> before_output.php - clumsy, too long init.php - not exactly correct start.php - current favourite

  • How to implement a timer for regular events?

    I would like to implement some timers into my application. My goal is to provide an easy way to execute some function every x seconds/minutes so I thought about implementing a 1 sec, 5 sec and 15 seconds timer. The first thing i would like to update every 1 second is the built in clock (don't know if there is any other solution in c#, used this method in c++) Another use would be e.g. a sync function etc. which shall be executed every xx seconds. My question is if there are any useful tutorials on this topic? It is the first time that I would like to implement such an timer system into one of my applications and I do not know if there are any things I have to keep in mind.     I'm new to cookies, and im trying to set a cookie where to store the referer (the org ref). But when i use this and lets say i go to another page in my site and then go back to the homepage its sets a new cookie with the exact same name and with the ref of the previous page. Is there away to avoid this?

    I wrote the exact query I need in Mongo console, but I'm having trouble rewriting it in C# driver. Here's a sample of the document, it's simple dictionary: { "_id" : ObjectId("539716bc101c588f941e2c27"), "_t" : "DictionaryDocument", "CsvSeparator" : ",", "SelectedAccounts" : "0", ... } Here's the query: db.settings.find({"SelectedAccounts" :{$exists:true}},{"SelectedAccounts":1, "_id":0} ) Now, I got the first part, Find with exists working, but how to write the second parameter in C# driver? I'd just like a single string as a result, not entire document. Here's C# code I got so far: _collection.FindOneAs(typeof(DictionaryDocument), Query.Exists(key)); key in this case is "SelectedAccounts". I'd like the query to filter and return only the data I need, I don't want to return all the results and search on the C# side. EDIT: I wouldn't mind if _id was passed back, but I don't need it. So only this part would work if it could be converted in C#: db.settings.find({"SelectedAccounts" :{$exists:true}},{"SelectedAccounts":1} )

  • Payment Gateways for Mid-Sized Business?

    My company is a bit unhappy with the support we've been getting from Cybersource and we're about to embark on a billing re-write so we're taking the opportunity to look at other gateways. Anyone have any positive or negative experiences they'd like to share? I'd rather not hear about small website gateways like paypal, we run tens of thousands of transactions and millions a year. If you know, I'd love to hear how much you're paying in transaction/gateway fees too. We're primarily a .NET shop if you'd like to speak to a particular API. Gateway must support the big 4 credit cards (mc, visa, disc, amex) and ACH. Thanks in advance for the help from the hive mind. :)

  • Setting up separate ctags db's for C/C++ standard libs, boost, and third party libs

    I want to set up separate ctags databases for various libraries in /usr/include/ for use with OmniCppComplete. The idea is to be able to pull in only the libraries needed for a particular project in the target language - C or C++. For example, I'd like to have one database for the standard C libraries, one for system libraries that might be used by either C or C++ programs ( sockets / networking comes to mind ) one for the standard C++ libs / STL / Boost, and then other databases for various third party libraries such as QT or glib. Then I could pull something in simply by typing set tags+= ~/.vim/somelib.tags in vim. I assume that everything related to the C++ stdlib and STL are in the /usr/include/c++ and that Boost is all in /usr/include/boost. Unfortunately it seems that the standard C libs and system libs are just kind of dumped directly into /usr/include/ with a variety of other stuff. How can I get a list of which files and directories belong to which libs? I'm on Ubuntu 8.04.

  • Reading and writing dates to the registry for trial version purposes.

    Hi all, Here's what I want to do, I want to store the date the first time the program is installed and also store a date when was the program was last run. I want the code to check to see if it was more than 30 days since the installation so I can turn off features. I also want to check if the system date is less than the last opened date and if so write the installed date to 1/1/1901 to prevent the program from running. Keeping in mind that this is not a consumer program but a business program I don't expect hackers to crack it, they may do but that is fine I simply want to give potential customers a reason to consider purchasing the program and the end of the trial will prompt this. 1: Does this sound reasonable? 2: How should I hide the fact this is a date so it's not easily changed?     I am a long time agile advocated but one of the things that bothers me about Agile is that a lot of agile practitioners, especially the younger ones, have thrown out or are missing a whole lot of good (non Scrum, non XP) practices. Alistair Cockburn's style of writing Use Cases springs to mind; orthogonal arrays (pairwise testing) is another. I hope this is an okay forum to ask this, but since I read mostly Agile related books and articles and work with mostly Agile folk ... is there anything I'm missing? Thanks for all your help.   • When is it safe to do a Response.Redirect() without throwing an exception?

    I have an intermediary class extending System.Web.UI.Page for all of my pages that require authentication. The class mostly does custom authentication handling. When a user with insufficient access attempts to visit a page, I try to redirect the user back to the login page while preventing any further page events from being executed (ie. Page_load). The first solution that came to mind was the default implementation of Response.Redirect. Of course the downside to this is the possibility of ThreadAbortExceptions being thrown. So my question is this: When (if at all) during the page life cycle is it actually safe to execute Response.Redirect() without ThreadAbortException ever being thrown? public class CustomPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { base.OnInit(e); if (!IsValid()) Response.Redirect("login.aspx", true); } }

  • Core Data and iTunes File Sharing - Move/hide the .sqlite file on app update?

    I have an iPad app that uses Core Data for data storage. I would like to enable file sharing in iTunes and I don't really want the users to be able to delete or modify the .sqlite file. Can I move the file to a different, hidden directory? Alternatively, could the file be made read-only? I wouldn't mind users having access to the file as long as it couldn't be changed. I suspect there is a trivial solution that is escaping me at the moment.

I have searched and searched and searched and I have found incomplete examples (examples with just enough information to make me say where does that code go), console applications and no good web application examples.   • How to transfer large files from desktop to server ( .NET)

    I am writing a .NET 2.0 based desktop client that will send large files ( well largish under 2GB) to a server. Need to develop the server as well. Server can be on any technology It should be secure so an underlying SSL stream is needed What are my options. Any obvious caveats etc I should be aware of To my mind the simplest solution is to open a tcp\ip connection over SSL to the server and send n packets each of size M bytes and then have the server append the chunks to the file and finally send an EOF packet as well IS this horrible. Will the perf suck on the server with all these disk writes What are any other clever options. I am limited to .NET 2.0 on the client if I did move to a WCF client will it buy be something magical and cool for this scenario Thanks

My class will have 3 methods ICollection<Field> GetFields(); //perform validation internally - return back the object T UpdateFields(ICollection<Field> fields); //pass in model object with values on it, set up fields, then pass back all fields ICollection<Field> GetFieldsWithValues(T object); What is the best way to construct/design such a class keeping in mind: 1. The model object I pass in will be one of 3 or 4 tables, however when I call GetFIelds - internally for each object I know what fields will be there i.e. list.add(new Field{name = "id", value = "5"}); list.add(new Field{name = "nameofcompany", value = "super guys"});

    I have a very dynamic / ajax powered website which also includes iframes and due this reason I have a very bad SEO rank and it come in my mind to make one more additional version of the site (text based / no script) and serve it to the search engines based on the user agent .     Trying to solve this at this hour has gotten my mind into a tail-spin: I want to rearrange a list l into a list of n lists, where n is the number of columns. e.g., l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8] n = 5 ==> [[1,6][2,7][3,8][4][5]] another example: l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10] n = 4 ==> [[1,5,9],[2,6,10],[3,7][4,8] Can someone please help me out with an algorithm? Feel free to use any python awesomeness that's available; I'm sure theres some cool mechanism that's a good fit for this, i just can't think of it.

    Hi. I am developing an application in PHP on Linux/Apache. I want to be able to schedule PHP jobs (scripts) for execution at some specific time in the future from within the application. I know that many people will recommend cron and at, but first of all I don't need recurrence (cron) and secondly and most importantly, I need the solution to be able to scale. At was not designed with race condititions in mind, and if two users try to add a job at the same time one or both may fail. It's also important that jobs are executed at their specified time, and not just 'polled' once per minute or so. Can anyone please suggest solutions for this task? Thank you.

    Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to make a generic webservice method in java like this: @WebMethod public <T extends Foo> void testGeneric(T data){ However when I try to consume this with a Java client I get an error stating: [ERROR] Schema descriptor {http://####/}testGeneric in message part "parameters" is not defined and could not be bound to Java. I know it is possible to make a method that takes a parameter such as List and this generates correctly using JAX-WS.     I am trying to decide what is the best way to approach a site I built with SEO in mind. The site has a parent site (sort of a splash page) (arboroaks.net) and the 3 children sites. Parent site is one page, and each of the 3 child sites is about 8-10pages. Right now I have the 3 child sites set up as folders under arboroaks.net. For example, lakelandhills, a child site, would be arboroaks.net/lakelandhills. I have the full domain, arboroaksatlakelandhills.com redirect to this url (arboroaks.net/lakelandhills). My question is whether I should have the child sites be contained on their own domain or not. Think lakelandhillsatarboroaks.com/about-us.php verse arboroaks.net/lakelandhills/about-us.php. The main reason is obviously for SEO consideration. Thanks!

A few obvious choices come to mind, but I want to know if there are other options, better choices or if we've made the same decision as a lot of you. QuickFIX - Stable, C++ implementation - so you've got unmanaged code to interop with. FIX4NET - C# implementation - seems to have some gaps in its implementation. DIY - Chime in here if you've made your own FIX engine Let me throw in some caveats here. I'm not looking for sub 100 microsecond processing. Performance is a requirement, but not so much that it's driving my decisions. A solid product that is stable, performs well and is flexible enough to deal with vendor specific dialects is the sweet spot. The more we can do in .NET the better.

    This is more a curiosity than anything else... Suppose I have a C++ class Kitty as follows: class Kitty { void Meow() { //Do stuff } } Does the compiler place the code for Meow() in every instance of Kitty? Obviously repeating the same code everywhere requires more memory. But on the other hand, branching to a relative location in nearby memory requires fewer assembly instructions than branching to an absolute location in memory on modern processors, so this is potentially faster. I suppose this is an implementation detail, so different compilers may perform differently. Keep in mind, I'm not considering static or virtual methods here.

    Git's default cleanup of strip removes all lines starting with a # character. Unfortunately, the Trac engine's wiki formatter uses hashes in the beginning of a code block to denote the syntax type. Additionally any code added verbatim might include hashes as they are a common comment prefix; Perl comes to mind. In the following example the comments all get destroyed by git's cleanup mode. Example: {{{ #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; # say hi to the user. print "hello world\n"; }}} I'd like to use a custom filter that removes all lines beginning with a hash from the bottom of the file upwards. Leaving those lines that being with a hash that are embedded in the commit message I wrote alone. Where or how can I specify this in git? Note, creating a sed or perl script to perform the operation is not a problem, just knowing where to hook it into git is the question.

  • C# Linq: Can you merge DataContexts?

    Say I have one database, and this database has a set of tables that are general to all Clients and some tables that are specific to certain clients. Now what I have in mind is creating a primary DataContext that includes only the tables that are general to all the clients, and then create separate DataContexts that contain only the tables that are specific to the client. Is there a way to kind of "merge" DataContexts so that it becomes one context? So for Client A, I need one DataContext that includes both the general tables and also the tables for that specific client (retrieved from two different DataContexts) ? [Update] What I think I can do is, from the Partial Class of the DataContext instead of letting my DataContext inherit from DataContext I make it inherit from MyDataContext; that way, the tables from MyDataContext and the other DataContext will be available in one DataContext class. What do you think about this approach? Of course with something like this you can only merge two datacontexts at once though...
