  • §non_lazy_ptr iphone sdk 3.0

    - by Hans Espen
After I built my iphone 2.2.1 application in sdk 3.0, I get a lot of errors of type §non_lazy_ptr. I am getting it on the CFFTPStream constants, like kCFStreamPropertyFTPPassword and kCFStreamPropertyUserName. Anyone know what causes this?

  • The null value cannot be assigned to a member with type System.Int64 which is a non-nullable value t

    - by BritishDeveloper
I'm getting the following error in my MVC2 app using Linq to SQL (I am new to both). I am connected to an actual SQL server not weird mdf: System.InvalidOperationException The null value cannot be assigned to a member with type System.Int64 which is a non-nullable value type My SQL table has a column called MessageID. It is BigInt type and has a primary key, NOT NULL and an IDENTITY 1 1, no Default In my dbml designer it has the following declaration for this field: [global::System.Data.Linq.Mapping.ColumnAttribute(Storage="_MessageId", AutoSync=AutoSync.OnInsert, DbType="BigInt NOT NULL IDENTITY", IsPrimaryKey=true, IsDbGenerated=true)] public long MessageId { get { return this._MessageId; } set { if ((this._MessageId != value)) { this.OnMessageIdChanging(value); this.SendPropertyChanging(); this._MessageId = value; this.SendPropertyChanged("MessageId"); this.OnMessageIdChanged(); } } } It keeps telling me that null cannot be assigned - I'm not passing through null! It's a long - it can't even be null! Am I doing something stupid? I can't find a solution anywhere! I made this work by changing the type of this property to Nullable<long> but surely this can't be right? Update: I am using InsertOnSubmit. Simplified code: public ActionResult Create(Message message) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { var db = new MessagingDataContext(); db.Messages.InsertOnSubmit(message); db.SubmitChanges(); //line 93 (where it breaks) } } breaks on SubmitChanges() with the error at the top of this question. Update2: Stack trace: at Read_Object(ObjectMaterializer`1 ) at System.Data.Linq.SqlClient.ObjectReaderCompiler.ObjectReader`2.MoveNext() at System.Linq.Enumerable.FirstOrDefault[TSource](IEnumerable`1 source) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeDirector.StandardChangeDirector.DynamicInsert(TrackedObject item) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeDirector.StandardChangeDirector.Insert(TrackedObject item) at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at Qanda.Controllers.MessagingController.Ask(Message message) in C:\Qanda\Qanda\Controllers\MessagingController.cs:line 93 Update3: No one knows and I don't have enough clout to offer a bounty! So continued on my ASP.NET blog. Please help!

  • Too late to become a programmer?

    - by Tomas
Hi, Working in IT for 5 years, I focused on system integration - testing, performance tests and analysis, automation etc. Altough I am working for one of the biggest IT companies, I have the possibility to come up with my own ideas and realize them - for example I have written C# (with SQL backend) bugtracker application with management elements...and I really liked it. I am very creative person but being 25 y/o, I am wondering whether it is too late. I understand the logic of programming but as I was never very good in math I assume I have no chance to become professional programmer in this age. What do you think? Thanks

  • [OffTopic] PhD is it worth it?

    - by Zenzen
So I'll be graduating next year (hopefully) and lately I started thinking about getting a PhD in computer science (to be more precise I was thinking about something related to "distributed systems", don't have any specific topics yet in mind), but is it really worth it? A PhD course here lasts 4 years and is free IF you're doing the "normal one" (which means you have class from monday to friday) OR you have to pay if you want to study on the weekends. So I've been thinking about getting a normal full time job (as a JEE programmer) and doing my PhD during the weekends OR doing the normal PhD course (mon-fri) and getting a part time job as a software dev (the main reason I want a job is simple - I need to eat). That would give me practical working experience and theoretical knowledge+a PhD, but it would also mean working 7days a week from 9 to 5 for 4 years straight (sounds like an overkill). Is it, job wise, really worth getting a PhD? As an employer do you prefer people with PhDs or MScs? This might be kinda important - I'm not from the US or western europe, how are PhDs from other countries (I am graduating one of the best, if not the best, school in my country but it's still a central european country...) seen? Are they useless? I won't hide it - after graduation I am thinking about moving abroad.

  • Can you optimize this code? T-SQL

    - by Yoda
Essentially I have three fields and I am creating a new one which is the three combined making a mailable address; problem being some fields contain null values and adding myString to a null just produces a null in sql. So this is my code, can anyone make it any cleaner? It's still looking pretty butch! UPDATE [mydb].[dbo].[Account] SET [Billing Street] = CASE WHEN [(Billing Address 1)] is null and [(Billing Address 2)] is null THEN [(Billing Address 3)] WHEN [(Billing Address 1)] is null and [(Billing Address 3)] is null THEN [(Billing Address 2)] WHEN [(Billing Address 2)] is null and [(Billing Address 3)] is null THEN [(Billing Address 1)] WHEN [(Billing Address 1)] is null THEN [(Billing Address 2)] + ' ' + [(Billing Address 3)] WHEN [(Billing Address 2)] is null THEN [(Billing Address 1)] + ' ' + [(Billing Address 3)] WHEN [(Billing Address 3)] is null THEN [(Billing Address 1)] + ' ' + [(Billing Address 2)] ELSE [(Billing Address 1)] + ' ' + [(Billing Address 2)] + ' ' + [(Billing Address 3)] END

  • What is the best database for my needs?

    - by Mr. Flibble
I am currently using MS SQL Server 2008 but I'm not sure it it is the best system for this particular task. I have a single table like so: PK_ptA PK_ptB DateInserted LookupColA LookupColB ... LookupColF DataCol (ntext) A common query is SELECT TOP(1000000) DataCol FROM table WHERE LookupColA=x AND LookupColD=y AND LookupColE=z ORDER BY DateInserted DESC The table has about a billion rows with 5 million inserted per day. My main problem with SQL Server is that it isn't too easy to shard or spread out the datafiles. Also, exporting seems to max out at 1000rows per second (about 1MB/s) which seems very slow. Another problem I have is, with SQL Server, if I want to add a new LookupCol the log file grows enormously requiring a large amount of rarely used free space on tap. Are there any obvious better solutions for this problem?

  • Subsonic 3, SimpleRepository, SQL Server: How to find rows with a null field?

    - by desautelsj
How ca I use Subsonic's Find<T> method to search for rows with a field containing the "null" value. For the sake of the discussion, let's assume I have a c# class called "Visit" which contains a nullable DateTime field called "SynchronizedOn" and also let's assume that the Subsonic migration has created the corresponding "Visits" table and the "SynchronizedOn" field. If I was to write the SQL query myself, I would write something like: SELECT * FROM Visits WHERE SynchronizedOn IS NULL When I use the following code: var visits = myRepository.Find<Visit>(x => x.SynchronizedOn == null); Subsonic turns it into the following SQL query: SELECT * FROM Visits WHERE SynchronizedOn == null which never returns any rows. I tried the following code but it throws an error: visits = repository.Find<Visit>(x => x.SynchronizedOn.HasValue); I was able to use the following syntax: var query = from v in repository.All<Visit>() where v.SynchronizedOn == null orderby v.CreatedOn select v; visits = query.ToList<Visit>(); but it's not as nice an short as using the Find<T> method. Anyone knows how I can specify the "SynchronizedOn IS NULL" condition in the Find<T> method?

  • Find localized Windows strings

    - by DougN
I need to find some strings that the current version of Windows is using. For example, when I create a new folder, it is initially named "New Folder" on English Vista. I need to programmatically find what that folder would be named on any language and version of Windows that I might be running on. Anyone have any ideas how to do that?

  • Relational vs. Dimensional Databases, what's the difference?

    - by grautur
I'm trying to learn about OLAP and data warehousing, and I'm confused about the difference between relational and dimensional modeling. Is dimensional modeling basically relational modeling, but allowing for redundant/un-normalized data? For example, let's say I have historical sales data on (product, city, # sales). I understand that the following would be a relational point-of-view: Product | City | # Sales Apples, San Francisco, 400 Apples, Boston, 700 Apples, Seattle, 600 Oranges, San Francisco, 550 Oranges, Boston, 500 Oranges, Seattle, 600 While the following is a more dimensional point-of-view: Product | San Francisco | Boston | Seattle Apples, 400, 700, 600 Oranges, 550, 500, 600 But it seems like both points of view would nonetheless be implemented in an identical star schema: Fact table: Product ID, Region ID, # Sales Product dimension: Product ID, Product Name City dimension: City ID, City Name And it's not until you start adding some additional details to each dimension that the differences start popping up. For instance, if you wanted to track regions as well, a relational database would tend to have a separate region table, in order to keep everything normalized: City dimension: City ID, City Name, Region ID Region dimension: Region ID, Region Name, Region Manager, # Regional Stores While a dimensional database would allow for denormalization to keep the region data inside the city dimension, in order to make it easier to slice the data: City dimension: City ID, City Name, Region Name, Region Manager, # Regional Stores Is this correct?

  • Edit form not being instantiated

    - by 47
    I have two models like this: class OptionsAndFeatures(models.Model): options = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) entertainment = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) seats_trim = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) convenience = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) body_exterior = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) lighting = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) safety = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) powertrain = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) suspension_handling = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) specs_dimensions = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) offroad_capability = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) class Vehicle(models.Model): ... options_and_features = models.ForeignKey(OptionsAndFeatures, blank=True, null=True) I have a model form for the OptionsAndFeaturesclass that I'm using in both the add and edit views. In the add view it works just fine. But the edit view renders the OptionsAndFeatures as blank. The code for the edit view is as follows: def edit_vehicle(request, stock_number=None): vehicle = get_object_or_404(Vehicle, stock_number=stock_number) if request.method == 'POST': # save info else: vehicle_form = VehicleForm(instance=vehicle) photos = PhotosFormSet(instance=vehicle) options = OptionsForm(instance=vehicle) #render_to_reponse What could be the problem here?

  • Help me understand Inorder Traversal without using recursion

    - by vito
I am able to understand preorder traversal without using recursion, but I'm having a hard time with inorder traversal. I just don't seem to get it, perhaps, because I haven't understood the inner working of recursion. This is what I've tried so far: def traverseInorder(node): lifo = Lifo() lifo.push(node) while True: if node is None: break if node.left is not None: lifo.push(node.left) node = node.left continue prev = node while True: if node is None: break print node.value prev = node node = lifo.pop() node = prev if node.right is not None: lifo.push(node.right) node = node.right else: break The inner while-loop just doesn't feel right. Also, some of the elements are getting printed twice; may be I can solve this by checking if that node has been printed before, but that requires another variable, which, again, doesn't feel right. Where am I going wrong? I haven't tried postorder traversal, but I guess it's similar and I will face the same conceptual blockage there, too. Thanks for your time! P.S.: Definitions of Lifo and Node: class Node: def __init__(self, value, left=None, right=None): self.value = value self.left = left self.right = right class Lifo: def __init__(self): self.lifo = () def push(self, data): self.lifo = (data, self.lifo) def pop(self): if len(self.lifo) == 0: return None ret, self.lifo = self.lifo return ret

  • Handling Special char such as ^ÛY, ^ÛR in java

    - by RJ
Hi, Has anybody encountered special char such as ^ÛY, ^ÛR ? Q1. How do I do an ftp of the files containing these chars? The chars are not seen once I do a ftp on AIX (bi or ascii) and hence I am unable to see my program to replace these, working. Q2. My java program doesn't seem to recognise these or replace these if I search for these explicitly (^ÛY, ^ÛR ) in the file however a replace using regular expression seems to work (I could only see the difference in the length of the string). My program is executed on AIX. Any insights why java cannot recognise these? Q3. Does the Oracle database recognise these chars? An update is failing where my program indicates the string to be of lesser length and without these characters but the db complains "value too large for column" as the string to be updated contains these chars and hence longer. thanks in advance, RJ

  • Run an ASP.NET website in a subfolder

    - by Bernhard Hofmann
Is there a way of running an ASP.NET website in a subfolder of the website? As an example, say I wanted to run the screwturn wiki (http://www.screwturn.eu/) in a folder called "wiki" on my website, can I alter the web.config of the screwturn website to tell it that it is running in the "wiki" folder? (like saying that "~/" = "/wiki/") The wiki would then find its assemblies that are in "~/bin" in "/wiki/bin" and the same for all other folders below the new root.
