  • Cannot install Java 7 update 9 32-bit on Win 7 64

    As there were several versons of Java on my laptop, I decided to uninstall them all and reinstall only the current version. I uninstalled all 64-bit and 32-bit versions using Revo Uninstaller. After dowloading the current versions, when attempting to install them, I get a message that both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions cannot be installed as they are already installed. Both the Windows 7 Programs and Features and Revo show no Java installed at al. I then tried the Microsoft Fixit for install and uninstall issues (KB 2438651). I was then able to install the 64-bit version, but continued to have the issue with the 32-bit version. I ran CCleaner, Glary Utilities and Auslogics Registry Cleaner, and noticed Java keys that were to be uninstalled. After cleaning the registry, I attemped to install the 32-bit version of Java once more, to no avail. Any suggestions on how to rectify this problem? Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

I already tried to add on => :create syntax at the end of each validation line, but I got the same results.   • Windows 7: moved system partition, need to update boot partition

    So, I have a decently standard Windows7/Ubuntu dual-boot setup, and (since Ubuntu is my usual operating system) I found I needed to grow my Ubuntu partition and shrink my W7 partition. Originally, my system (500G) looked like this: W7 Boot Partition (1.5G) Ubuntu (around 240G) W7 (same as Ubuntu) (on an extended partition, all by itself) Swap (rest of disk, around 16G) Now I'm no stranger to partitioning and filesystem tools, especially GParted, which I used on a Linux boot disk. After my partition editing, the partitions are laid out the same, except the Ubuntu partition is now 407G and the W7 partition is smaller to compensate. I had supposed, based on http://www.gparted.org/faq.php, that I would be able to run the W7 install disk in recovery mode and have it deal with the rearrangement, then possibly reinstall GRUB or something. Well, now the W7 install disk doesn't even see my W7 installation. All my files are there, the NTFS is perfectly clean, no problems there, but the install disk won't notice it. (Of course, the GRUB entry works fine but the W7 boot partition (which I didn't change) refuses to boot it.) So, basically, any ideas on how to fix this? I don't especially want to rerun the entire install procedure because I'll have a bunch of programs to reinstall (never mind redoing GRUB), but I fear that might be the only option. Thanks.

  • MS Access Form - Horizontal Anchor Affecting Data Update

    Running Access 2007 with a databound form. The form Record Source is set to a query, and all fields in the form have a defined Control Source; nothing fancy, just field names. The form is a Single form with record navigation buttons which perform a "Next Record" and "Previous Record" actions. As I navigate the records the controls in the header update correctly. However, if I change a control Horizontal Anchor property to "Right" the fields no longer update on record navigation. This is observed for both text box and combo box controls. I can switch the anchoring back to "Left" and the updating works as it should. Is there some reason anchoring would affect a control updating of in an Access form? Or is this a bug that has been observed before? The only workaround I can think of is to assign the control text/value property in the form OnCurrent event, but this seems somewhat sloppy. Am I missing something here?

  • FTP blocked by firewall on windows 8.1 update 1 public network

    I've recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 u1. I connect to VPN to one of my projects, over which I connect to FTP server (using Total Commander 8.51a). Now, when I try to connect, Total Commander hangs on "Download" (in case of passive connection on "PASV" command). I've figured out that the problem is somehow caused by firewall, because it works if I disable firewall or I set the VPN network location to "private" (which I don't want, it is not enough trusted network for me) I tried to add total commander to firewall exception for total commander, both to inbound and outbound rule, but with no success. I have no more ideas how to configure the firewall to make FTP work properly, can you plese help me? thanks in advance.

  • Vostro 1520 crash during bios update

    My Vostro 1520 (P8700 C2D) originally came with BIOS A02. This bios version have known problems with VT, so I had to upgrade to A05. During the upgrade, the notebook crashed. Needless to say, it won't boot anymore. The simple question is: is there a way to access the bios boot block to recover the bad flash with a crisis disk? I know that the MINI and the ALIENWARE models have this feature, but I can't seem to find anything about it in the Vostro machines. Any help will be much appreciated. PS: Dell's solution is to change the motherboard, but it will take several days, as the board isn't available in my country :( Regards, Deadmilkman

    I have a table which I pull data from. This data has a date and a stock symbol. There can be multiple rows of data with the same date and different stock symbols. I need to update the table so that there is a running total for all rows with the same date. When a new date occurs the cumulative count re-sets to 1 and then resumes.   • Ajax Update Panel Not Displaying Updated Image in IE, Chrome and FireFox

    I have a parent page with an Ajax Update Panel that contains an image and a button. There is a hyperlink that opens up a child page. When the child page is submitted, there is an onclientclick event that triggers a javascript function that clicks the button in the update panel on the parent page, the button's click event being the trigger for the panel as well as the event that updates the image URL. When I use this on my android tablet, it works perfectly. However, it doesn't work at all on any browser I've used on a PC (Windows XP). The Image URL updates, but the updated image doesn't display without refreshing the entire page. In IE, I can right click on the image and click Show Image and it updates. In Chrome and Firefox, I have to refresh the entire page. Why would an Ajax control only work properly on the Android OS and what could I be doing wrong that would cause the image not to redisplay on my PC without refreshing the page even though the image URL is clearly being updated properly. I suspect a caching issue, but don't know how to correct.

So every time the value is changed I read the entry with id = 1 out and change the object and execute save. like the following: $info = Doctrine::getTable('SnookerCurrentInfo')->find(1); $info->current_frame_id = $jsonInfo['current_frame_id']; $info->current_player_id = $jsonInfo['current_player_id']; $info->current_score1 = $jsonInfo['current_score1']; $info->current_score2 = $jsonInfo['current_score2']; $info->save(); but the strange thing is, I try to make it clear. Let's say at first, the entry is (30, 1, 1, 0) and I switch player, so update the entry to (30, 2, 1, 0). and I switch the player back again, so the entry should be updated to (30, 1, 1, 0), but this is not affected to the database!! In the database, the entry still remains as (30, 2, 1, 0)!!!! But if after (30, 2, 1, 0), I update the score to (30, 2, 1, 1) and then switch the player back (30, 1, 1, 1) then this is ok.   • JQuery Control Update Not Happening

    Hi, I've got a script that disables a button input control, empties a table body and then (after an AJAX call) re-populates it. It all works fine but sometimes there are a lot of rows in the table so the browser (IE) takes a while to empty and refill it. The strange thing is, while the rows are being emptied, the button still appears to be enabled, however if I put an alert between the button being disabled and the tbody being emptied, the button works properly, disabling visibly before the the alert comes up. Is there any way I can get the button to update before the resource consuming table emptying process/command commences? Thx MH Code sample, as requested (but it's not complex, so I didn't initially include it) $('#Search').attr('disabled', true); $('#StatusSpan').empty(); $('#DisplayTBody').empty(); then I perform my AJAX call, re-enable the button and repopulate the table. As I mentioned, normally this is really quick and isn't a problem, but if there are, say, 1500 rows in the table it takes a while to clear down but the 'Search' button doesn't update on the screen, however if I put an alert after the .attr('disabled' line the button visibly updates when the alert box is up, but without that the button doesn't visibly disable until after the table clears (which is about 3 or 4 seconds with 1500 rows), it just stays in it's down/"mid-press" state. I don't have a problem with the time the browser is taking to render the table changes, that's just life, but I need the users to see visible feedback so they know the search has started

  • IIS is not accepting connections after WIndows system update

    I've been running a web site for the past year on Windows Home Server 2008 R2. After the March 2012 system updates, the site is no longer accessible to clients. They see this error: website is online but isn't accepting connections. Ping tests to the FQDN of the server are successful and NSLOOKUP returns the correct result. The Internet connection tests out good from the server. I have not changed my internet connection (Comcast Business Internet) or my router configuration (I forward incoming requests from the outside to port 80 of the local IP address of the server). I have tried: Disabling the Windows Firewall. Rebuilding the OS and configuration. I still have the problem. How can I resolve this?

    I currently have Windows 8 Consumer Preview installed on a Mac Bootcamp Partition. Microsoft recently released the Windows 8 Release Preview, and I'd like to upgrade, but I'm worried that upgrading to the Release Preview (while in the Windows 8 partition) will erase my other partitions (ex. the Mac OS X partition). By upgrading from Consumer to Release (using the installer on Microsoft's website) while IN the Windows 8 partition, will it end up re-formating the whole hard drive / erasing partitions / removing Mac OS X? Are there any 100% positive answers out there? Will this work, and if not then how would you suggest updating? Note: I have a Time Machine backup of my Mac, but it isn't the WHOLE Mac.

  • How to implement an EventHandler to update controls

    May I ask for help with the following? I am attempting to connect and control three pieces of household electronic equipment by computer through a GlobalCache GC-100 and iTach. As you will see in the following code, I created a class-instance of GlobalCacheAdapter that communicates with each piece of equipment. Although the code seems to work well in controlling the equipment, I am having trouble updating controls with the feedback from the equipment. The procedure "ReaderThreadProc" captures the feedback; however I don't know how to update the associated TextBox with the feedback. I believe that I need to create an EventHandler to notify the TextBox of the available update; however I am uncertain as to how an EventHandler like this would be implemented.   • Unable to update the EntitySet because it has a DefiningQuery and no &lt;UpdateFunction&gt; element

    When working with ADO.NET Entity Data Model, its often common that we generate entity schema for more than a single table from our Database.  With Entity Model generation automated with Visual Studio support, it becomes even tempting to create and work entity models to achieve an object mapping relationship. One of the errors that you might hit while trying to update an entity set either programmatically using context.SaveChanges or while using the automatic insert/update code generated by GridView etc., is “Unable to update the EntitySet <EntityName> because it has a DefiningQuery and no <UpdateFunction> element exists in the <ModificationFunctionMapping> element to support the current operation” While the description is pretty lengthy, the immediate thing that would come to our mind is to open our the entity model generated code and see if you can update it accordingly. However, the first thing to check if that, if the Entity Set is generated from a table, whether the Table defines a primary key.  Most of the times, we create tables with primary keys.  But some reference tables and tables which don’t have a primary key cannot be updated using the context of Entity and hence it would throw this error.  Unless it is a View, in which case, the default model is read-only, most of the times the above error occurs since there is no primary key defined in the table. There are other reasons why this error could popup which I am not going into for the sake of simplicity of the post.  If you find something new, please feel free to share it in comments.   • "A hard disk may be failing" , but no additional info via gdu-notification-deamon (suggestions?)

    Got this message after logging in: A hard disk may be failing One or more hard disk report health problems. Click the icon to get more information. On WUBI and 10.04, there was no icon to click, and clicking on made the message go away. After rebooting, the message did not display again. I've got everything on all my hard drives in duplicate, so not super worried about a disk failure, though I am wondering why the message had no info on which disk it thought had problems. Suggestions?

  • Where is the UIM notification area icon in Unity?

    When I was using Maverick, it was possible to switch the input method from a UIM indicator applet. Now that I have upgraded to Oneiric, I can't seem to switch the input method even when I open uim-im-switcher-gtk. This is necessary for me because I need to be able to switch back and forth between English and Tibetan and the keyboard shortcuts don't seem to work until after I've changed the input method from the panel first. Is there some way to get a UIM indicator on the Unity panel? This is a major regression for me and makes it impossible to do certain kinds of work in Ubuntu.
