  • C - how to get fscanf() to determine whether what it read is only digits, and no characters

    - by hatorade
Imagine I have a csv with and each value is an integer. so the first value is the INTEGER 100. I want fscanf() to read this line, and either tell me it's an integer ONLY, or not. So, it would pass 100 but fail on 100t. What i've been trying to get work is "%d," where the comma is the delimiter of my CSV. so the whole function is fscanf(fp, "%d,", &count) Unfortunately, this fails to fail on '100t,' works on '100' and works on 't'. so it just isn't distinguishing between 100 and 100t (all of these numbers are followed by commas, of course

  • Stop default hashtag behavior with jquery

    - by scatteredbomb
I'm using the following code to append a hashtag to the end of a url. That way someone can copy that url and take them back to that page, with certain divs visable. $("a.live").click(function() { window.location.hash = 'live'; $("#live).slideDown(); }); In this example I have a div called 'live', that would slideDown when a link is clicked, and '#live' added to the url. Then I have code that checks the hash tags when the page is loaded to show the proper divs. My problem is, how do I prevent the browser from jumping to the 'live' div once it's called? I don't want the page to scroll down to the div, just want it opened and the hashtag appended so a person could copy it and come back to that page with that div showing. Any tips? Thank you!

  • Emacs & PHP indenting question

    - by Danny
Hi all, I'm a bit new to using emacs for webdevelopment. I am using php-mode and i am happy with it. There is only one issue i have which causes me a lot of problems because of our company's coding style. When i have a function, e.g.: $instance = new Model('foo', 'bar'); And I want to indent it like this: $instance = new Model( 'foo', 'bar' ); Emacs does the following when i insert a newline before the first argument and indents it like this: $instance = new Model( 'foo', 'bar' ); Can anyone point me in a direction on how i can configure/change this? Thanks in advance

  • Order hybrid mixed mysql search result in one query?

    - by Fredrik
    This problem is easy fixed clientside. But for performance I want to do it directly to the database. LIST a +------+-------+-------+ | name | score | cre | +------+-------+-------+ | Abe | 3 | 1 | | Zoe | 5 | 2 | | Mye | 1 | 3 | | Joe | 3 | 4 | Want to retrieve a joined hybrid result without duplications. Zoe (1st higest score) Joe (1st last submitted) Abe (2nd highest score) Mye (2nd last submitted) ... Clientside i take each search by itself and step though them. but on 100.000+ its getting awkward. To be able to use the LIMIT function would ease things up a lot! SELECT name FROM a ORDER BY score DESC, cre DESC; SELECT name FROM a ORDER BY cre DESC, score DESC;

  • How do I handle a JSON request returning a String in JQuery?

    - by knt
Hi all, New to json/jQuery so sorry if this has an obvious answer. I'm doing an ajax request in jQuery that's something like: $.ajax({ url: theURL, dataType: 'jsonp', type: 'get', success: function(data) { alert("it's there"); } }); The request asks whether a given object is in a database. If it is, it returns something of the format: { "text": "duck", "canonical_name": "duck", "language": { "id": "en" }} However, if the object isn't there, it returns: Not Found As in...literally that exact string, not in any kind of json format as far as I know. Is there any way I can get my ajax to detect this? Right now it doesn't even seem to be acknowledging that it got anything back in the latter case. The json code wasn't written by me. It can possibly be fixed if this is not the correct format and there's absolutely nothing I can do from my end to work with this, but I'd really like to try to find some kind of workaround if possible. Thanks very much!

  • Weird behaviour of a deserialized class

    - by orloffm
I've got a huge XML file that's being deserialized by XmlSerializer in an XSD-generated class structure. Everything used to work just fine, but now a weird thing started happening. Sometimes (50% of runs) a field of a certain object of a class that's deep in the class tree just changes to a certain value of the same field of a different object of the same class. It happens when entering some function, when debugger steps from opening "{" to the first line of code. I understand that it's stupid question, but maybe someone have any thoughts?

  • MS-Access nested DIR - check if a file exists elsewhere whilst looping through a folder

    - by David Carle
I have used the DIR() command in Microsoft Access 2003 to loop through the files in folder A. This works fine, but I need to check if each file also exists in another location (folder B), and only process the file if it doesn't exist in folder B. The problem is that checking for the file existing in folder B also uses the DIR() function and this then resets or confuses the original one, with the result that no further files are found in folder A. Is there a way to check if a file exists without using DIR? Or, is there a way to have a separate instance of DIR? I suppose I could build a list of the files in folder A into an array and then process the entries in the array, but this seems rather 'clunky' Any suggestions for a better solution? Thanks

  • jQuery returning two elements for each one it finds?

    - by John Rudy
I'll start by saying I'm fairly new to jQuery. For the most part, I've found it intuitive and powerful, but this one circumstance has me thoroughly stumped. In the following method, the call to .each() returns two elements for every one found. It iterates over a set of table rows given IDs starting with the word, "communication," and followed by an ID number. For each row it returns, it processes twice. Using Firebug, I've validated that the DOM only has a single instance of each table row in question. Also using Firebug, I've validated that the method is not being called twice; the iteration in .each() is truly going over each returned table row twice. By the time all the AJAX call goodness is done, I'll have two entries in the database for each row created in the table. This is the code that's causing the issues: function getCommunications() { var list = $('[id^=communication]'); var communications = new Array(); list.each(function () { var communication = { ID: $(this).find('.commCompanyID').val(), /* * SNIP: more object properties here that are * unnecessary to this discussion */ }; communications.push(communication); }); return communications; } At the point of return communications, the Array returned will contain twice as many elements as there are table rows. I should note that nearly identical code (but going against specific lists of divs) is working on the same page. It's just the table that's suffering the issues. I'm using jQuery 1.4.1, the version which shipped with Visual Studio .NET 2010. The table markup is fully dynamic -- that is, aside from the header row, it's dependent on data either returned at page load or created by the user via a dialog box. I'll drop in just the code for what's created at page load; again using Firebug I've validated that what I create dynamically when an end user creates a row with the dialog box matches. (This should be readable by anyone, but for the record this is an ASP.NET MVC 2.0 project.) <table id="commTable"> <tr> <th></th> <th> Date / Time </th> <th> Contact </th> <th> Type </th> <th> Duration </th> <th> Notes </th> </tr> <% foreach (var item in Model) { %> <tr id="communication<%: item.ID %>"> <td> <a href="#" onclick="showEditCommunicationForm(<%: item.ID %>"> Edit</a> <span class="commDeleteButton"> <a href="#" onclick="deleteCommunication(<%: item.ID %>)"> Delete</a> </span> </td> <td> <span class="commDateTime"><%: item.DateTime %></span> <input type="hidden" class="commID" value="<%: item.ID %>" /> <input type="hidden" class="commIsDeleted" value="<%: item.IsDeleted %>" /> </td> <td> <span class="commSourceText"><%: item.Company.CompanyName %></span> <input type="hidden" class="commCompanyID" value="<%: item.CompanyID %>" /> </td> <td> <%: item.CommunicationType.CommunicationTypeText %> <input type="hidden" class="commTypeID" value="<%: item.CommunicationTypeID %>" /> </td> <td> <span class="commDuration"><%: item.DurationMinutes %></span> Minutes </td> <td> <span class="commNotes"><%: item.Notes %></span> </td> </tr> <% } %> </table>

  • transform longitude latitude into meters

    - by Sponge
I need a function that maps gps positions to x/y values like this: getXYpos(GeoPoint relativeNullPoint, GeoPoint p){ deltaLatitude=p.latitude-relativeNullPoint.latitude; deltaLongitude=p.longitude-relativeNullPoint.longitude; ... resultX=latitude (or west to east) distance in meters from p to relativeNullPoint resultY=longitude (or south to north) distance in meters from p to relativeNullPoint } i have seen some implementations of "distance of two geoPoints" but they all just calculate the air-line distance. i think the deltaLongitude can be transformed into meters directly but the deltaLatitude depends in the Longitude. does anyone know how this problem can be solved?

  • How do i get a more recent version of Java on my Mac than is showing up in software update?

    - by Bec
I need at least Java 1.6 to run a program that someone else in my lab wrote On the Java website it tells me to update Java via apple's software update function, i've run this a few times but it only got up to Java 1.5.0_24 and it now says no more updates are available for my computer Is there another way to update Java on a Mac? Is my operating system maybe to old for Java 1.6? i'm not sure what i'm running exactly, and i can't find a list of what mac operating systems run what versions of Java because the java site just suggests using Mac's software update.

  • Disable JavaScript on window.open

    - by sonofdelphi
I have a set of (X)HTML files that I need to open with window.open() from an application homepage. I am able to open these files and read the data within them. function openFiles() { var files = document.querySelectorAll('td a'); //The list of files to scan is stored as links in an HTML table for(var i = 0; i<files.length; i++){ //Open each file in a browser window win = window.open(files[i].href); //Can I prevent the JavaScript in these files from executing? } } But the problem is that the scripts within the HTML files also get executed when opened like this. This is rather time-consuming and unnecessary; also, the scripts within those files may have side-effects. Is there a way to prevent JavaScript from executing on load?

  • Google Vizualization with CSV data

    - by Shlomo Shmai
Hi, I have a URL that returns data in CSV format. I would like to use Google Vizualization to create an interactive chart of the data. I've looked at several examples on Google Chart and Vizualization web page but I'm a bit confused as I'm not familiar with JavaScript or web programming in general. Question: Do I have to use JavaScript to parse the CSV string myself and manually construct the DataTable with addColumn() and addRows()? Or, is there a way to simply pass the CSV url to the charting function? I'm hoping to do something like this: var csv_data = get_data_from_url('http://...') var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(csv_data); var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, ...); Can someone please help me out? Thanks.

  • Php deliberately awkward?

    - by Jonathan
I'm trying to create a login process (as people who have answered my previous question will know) But it seems impossible to create one process that will work with a desktop app and a standard website. Instead I have the login function in Usermanagement.php (which is a class, icyntk) but then in another php file (api/login.php) I have: <?php require_once '../usermanagement.php'; $m = new usermanage(); echo $m->login($_POST['username'], $_POST['password']); ?> And then I will still need to make another login.php just to be used with the login form on the website. As I can't see anyway to get the result (the echo) of the api/login.php script from the index.php file (where the login form is, it only has HTML in though) Is there anyway I can simplify this so I only need one login.php?

  • Extended with advice: Moving block wont work in Javascript

    - by Mack
Hello Note: this is an extension of a question I just asked, i have made the edits & taken the advice but still no luck I am trying to make a webpage where when you click a link, the link moves diagonally every 100 milliseconds. So I have my Javascript, but right now when I click the link nothing happens. I have run my code through JSLint (therefore changed comaprisions to === not ==, thats weird in JS?). I'm just trying to swap the values but I'm getting a runtime error. Any ideas? Thanks

  • PHP / MYSQL: Sanitizing user input - is this a bad idea?

    - by Greg
    I have one "go" script that fetches any other script requested and this is what I wrote to sanitize user input: foreach ($_REQUEST as $key => $value){ if (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) $_REQUEST[$key] = mysql_real_escape_string(stripslashes($value)); else $_REQUEST[$key] = mysql_real_escape_string($value); } I haven't seen anyone else use this approach. Is there any reason not to? EDIT - amended for to work for arrays: function mysql_escape($thing) { if (is_array($thing)) { $escaped = array(); foreach ($thing as $key => $value) { $escaped[$key] = mysql_escape($value); } return $escaped; } // else if (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) $thing = stripslashes($thing); return mysql_real_escape_string($thing); } foreach ($_REQUEST as $key => $value){ $_REQUEST[$key] = mysql_escape($value); }

  • How to display unique success messages on jquery form validation

    - by mastah
Hi guys, hope you can help me on this one, I'm currently using this: jQuery plugin:validation (Homepage) I've been reading related questions here, but this one is the closest get. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1863448/jquery-validation-on-success from the plugin's documentation http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation/validate#toption success String, Callback If specified, the error label is displayed to show a valid element. If a String is given, its added as a class to the label. If a Function is given, its called with the label (as a jQuery object) as its only argument. That can be used to add a text like "ok!". Currently I'm only object given to me is the label, and I can only add text to it. Now what I want is to have unique success message. For example: username field will have a success message: 'username okay!' email = 'email seems right' something along those lines, instead of displaying just one generic success message on all the fields. Thanks in advanced :)

  • Using a variable as identifier in a json array

    - by Robbert van den Bogerd
Hi folks! I'm wondering if it is possible to use assigned variables as identifier in a json array. When I tried this, I was getting some unexpected results: (Code is simplified, parameters are passed in a different way) var parameter = 'animal'; var value = 'pony'; Util.urlAppendParameters (url, {parameter : value}); Util.urlAppendParameters = function(url, parameters) { for (var x in parameters) { alert(x); } } Now the alert popup says: 'parameter' instead of 'animal'. I know I could use a different method (creating an array and assigning every parameter on a new line), but I want to keep my code compact. So my question is: Is it possible to use a variable as an identifier in the json array, and if so, could you please tell me how? Thanks in advance!

  • R - Specifying colClasses in the read.csv

    - by Derek
Hi, I am trying to specify the colClasses options in the read.csv function in R. In my data, the first column "time" is basically a character vector while the rest of the columns are numeric. data<-read.csv("test.csv" , comment.char="" , colClasses=c(time="character","numeric") , strip.white=FALSE) In the above command, I would want R to read in the "time" column as "character" and the as numeric. Although, the "data" variable did have the correct result after the command completed, R returned the following warnings. I am wondering how I could fix these warnings? Warning messages: 1: In read.table(file = file, header = header, sep = sep, quote = quote, : not all columns named in 'colClasses' exist 2: In tmp[i[i > 0L]] <- colClasses : number of items to replace is not a multiple of replacement length Thank in advance Derek
