• .GIF re edit! Can't figure it out!!

The reason I am doing this is for a VBulletin forum signature since it marquees left to right. I have tried editing the animation in Photoshop and I flipped the canvas to horizontal... I can't figure this out.. I've been at it for HOURS. hah Also if anyone can make it just a little darker that would be amazing. • Building a service for a Drupal site to duplicate a node to another Drupal site in a multi-site setu

  I'm trying to set up one of my Drupal sites to push a node to another Drupal site in a multi-site configuration. It looks like I need to do this with services somehow, but I can't find any tutorials out there and I need at least to be pointed in the right direction. What I believe I need is set up Services on the receiving site to accept a call from the sending site which will be sending the node object via Json or serialized PHP using a Key that was set up on the receiving site. Can anyone show me an example of this working or give me some insight? thanks

• Not responding to events?

  I currently have three Divs and only one of them is in focus at a given time. All of them line up in a film strip fashion. When I click a DIV not in focus, the current one moves to the left or right (depending on the direction) and the new one comes into focus. The divs can have content that has links. So my problem is that upon clicking on the divs not in focus, if I happen to click on a link, the event is captured. Is there anyway I can disable event detection for divs not in focus? What I am looking for is something like: if(div not in focus) disable all links if (div comes into focus) enable all links

• Getting text from a URL in ASP.NET

  I am looking for a reliable way of extracting text given the web address, in ASP.NET/C#. Can anyone point me the right direction? Also, the web address could be say a news site that might have a lot of ads and menus etc. I need some intelligent way of extracting only the relevant content. Not sure how this could be done as how would I define what relevance is? Should I maybe read from a RSS feed? Any thoughts on this?

• Object Recognition from Templates

  Hi Guys, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction here. With a picture of a die (from above) I want to recognize which side is up. I understand the basics in play here, but I'm having trouble grasping the power of OpenCV. I imagine I want a picture of each side of the die. • Controlling Windows Media Player through PHP / batch files

  I'm currently writing a tiny webapp for my HTPC (actually, a PC serving as both a media player and web- / fileserver) that will allow me to remotely control the playing of audio, without having to turn on my TV just to switch songs. I'm using Windows Media Player as my audio player of choice, and I thought I could control it through PHP's COM Class. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any documentation or examples on controlling WMP through this interface. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? A second (and much less preferable) solution would be to use PHP's exec() call to start batch files that, in turn, control WMP.

  Hi, I've had my first nightmare client recently who was messing me around with payment for a project. So... I've come to an agreement with another client to use some of the sites scripting to build a site for them. But, now the original client wants their site too. I have made a deal to licence the reused parts of the site (some jQuery scripts and a dynamic flash gallery) rather than me signing over full copyright. However, I haven't got a clue how to do this. • Best means to store data locally when offline

  I am in the midst of writing a small program (more to experiment with vs 2010 than anything else) Despite being an experiment it has some practical use for our local athletics club. My thought was to access the DB (currently online) to download the current members and store locally on a laptop (this is a MS sql table, used to power the club's website). take the laptop to the event (yes there ARE places that don't have internet coverage), add members to that days race (also a row from a sql table (though no changes would be made to this), record results (new records in 3rd table) Once home, showered and within internet access again, upload/edit the tables as per the race results/member changes etc. So I was thinking i'd do something like write xml files locally with the data, including a field to indicate changes etc? If anyone can point me in a direction i would appreciate it...hell if anyone could tell me if this has a name, I'd appreciate it.

• mySQL & Relational databases: How to handle sharding/splitting on application level?

  Hi everybody, I have thought a bit about sharding tables, since partitioning cannot be done with foreign keys in a mySQL table. Maybe there's an option to switch to a different relational database that features both, but I don't see that as an option right now. So, the sharding idea seems like a pretty decent thing. But, what's a good approach to do this on a application level? I am guessing that a take-off point would be to prefix tables with a max value for the primary key in each table. Something like products_4000000 , products_8000000 and products_12000000. Then the application would have to check with a simple if-statement the size of the id (PK) that will be requested is smaller then four, eight or twelve million before doing any actual database calls. So, is this a step in the right direction or are we doing something really stupid?

• How does Google implement Microsoft Exchange access?

  I know with Android 2.x there is the ability to tap into Microsoft Exchange, for at least email, if not calendar and contacts. I would like to see how this was accomplished. Particularly because Microsoft Exchange exposes SOAP web services, and I understand there is no native Android support for SOAP. Since this is open source, shouldn't I be able to find something in the Android source? If so, can you point me in the right direction of where to find it in the ~4Gig (!) source? I want to develop an application that accesses Exchange contacts and calendars, but don't want to reinvent that piece. Any other guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  Given is a database with locations, we feed those tho the google map api and all points are displayed. Now there is a list of this location right next to the google map. How can i link the places in the list to the dots on the map? Like this: http://www.local.ch/en/q/ubs.html I want to light up the point on the map on the list item hover and open the info-box by clicking on the list item.   Hey guys, I have never installed an extension before so I am not really sure where to start. I want to do 2 things: install clamav virus scanner http://sourceforge.net/projects/php-clamav/ on my remote server which is a linux apache setup using cpanel as a gui. install clamav on my localserver on my home computer which operates on windows and has WAMP server installed for server-side activity What is the difference between the two installation methods? What is required for each installation? If anyone can point me in the right direction in any way, I would really appreciate it. Even if it is just an article or tutorial on how to get started.

  Hello all, I am a newb to Android and Java and want to write a funtion that will display a list based on a varable that I pass to the function. The function is below and the code below creates an array out of a string called type, but what I want to do is pass it a variable string and have it build a list based on that string. So if I wanted the type list I would say list_it("type") But if I try something like getResources().getStringArray(R.array.thelist); it doesn't work. • Adding a decorator that converts strings to lowercase in Python

  So I am new to learning decorators and I have gone through countless tutorials and while I understand and can mostly follow all of the examples, I think the best way to learn, would be to implement a decorator myself. So I am going to use this example below. I realize a decorator is not at all necessary to do this, but for the sake of learning, I would like to add a decorator that filters the strings like dog name and breed and turns them into lowercase.   What is the best C++ (not C++11) way of joining two enums from autogenerated class similar to one presented below: namespace A { namespace B { ... class CarInfo { enum State { // basically same enums defined in different classes Running, Stopped, Broken } } class BikeInfo { enum State { // basically same enums defined in different classes Running, Stopped, Broken } } } } What is needed is unified enum State for both classes that is seen to outside world alongside with safe type conversion. Gosh coming from C I hate those long namespaces everywhere an I wish it could be only A::B level like in presented example. When programming we usually write "LightDirection" and "FilterOutput". Now, I have a problem with plural nouns. There are two cases: 1) singular of plural e.g. "union of (two) sets", "intersection of (two) segments" Which is correct, SetUnion and SegmentIntersection or SetsUnion and SegmentsIntersection? 2) plural of plural There are two subcases: (a) Many elements, each having many related elements, e.g. "outputs of filters" (b) Many elements, each having single related element, e.g. "directions of vectors" Shell I use FilterOutputs and VectorDirections or FiltersOutputs and VectorsDirections? I suspect correct is the first version (FilterOutupts, VectorDirections), but I think it may lead to ambiguities, e.g. FilterOutputs - many outputs of a single filter or many outputs of many filters? • Hibernate and Child Objects (add versus clear)

  Lets say I have domain model with Automobile and Wheels. Wheels is a List of Wheels Wheels has a many-to-one relationship to Automobile. If I get an object back from Hibernate and it has 4 wheels. I take that object remove the 4 wheels and add 4. And then Save. If I ask Hibernate for the object again and it returns an auto with 8 wheels... what are we doing wrong? I don't have access to the source for a few days but want to give our Java devs a push in the right direction. Thanks.

  I'm currently a network engineer, but find myself wanting to get into the world of development. I took a little bit of Java in college, am 27 years old and have been network engineering for 4 years now. I have a mortgage and student loans so going back to school would be difficult. I'm willing to put in however much hardwork is needed around my full time job to learn, but part of me feels I may need actuall schooling to get down some of the advanced concepts. • How do I send an email from my webpage?

  I am not a web developer but I do have a lot of programming experience in C# and Windows forms programming. On our company webpage my boss wants me to put in a textbox where visitors can submit a comment and press a submit button and that comment will be sent to an email address. Right now, our website uses just plain old html, no php or javascript or anything like that. I am wondering what is the simplest way to accomplish what I need? • Active Record Associations: has_one :through? Or multiple has_one's?

  I'm brand new to Rails, so bear with me. I have 3 models: User, Section, and Tick. Each section is created by a user. My guess with this association: class Section < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :user end Next, each user can "tick" off a section -- only once. So for each tick, I have a section_id, user_id, and timestamps. Here's where I'm stuck. Does this call for a "has_one :through" association? If so, which direction? If not, then I'm way off.   When switching from MSVS 6 to MSVS 2008, what major differences should I look for when testing the software? I'm coming from more of a QA perspective. We have two programs that work closely together that were originally compiled in Visual C++ 6. Now one of the programs has been compiled in Visual C++ 2008 in order to use a specific CD writing routine. The other program is still compiled under MSVS 6. My manager is very concerned with this change and wants me to run tests specific to this change. Since I deal more with QA and less with development, I really have no idea where to start. I've looked for differences between the two, but nothing has given me a clear direction as far as testing is concerned. Any suggestions would be helpful.

  Hi, Scenario is as follows:- I want to reverse the direction of the singly linked list, In other words, after the reversal all pointers should now point backwards.. Well the algorithm should take linear time. The solution that i have thought of using another datastructure A Stack.. With the help of which the singly linked list would be easily reversed, with all pointers pointing backwards.. But i am in doubt, that whether the following implementation yeild linear time complexity.. Please comment on this.. And if any other efficient algorithm is in place, then please discuss.. Thanks.

• Passing a web service an unknown number of parameters

  I'm relatively new to utilizing web services. I'm trying to create one that will be accepting data from a ASP.Net form whose input controls are created dynamically at runtime and I don't how many control values will be getting passed. I'm thinking I'll be using jQuery's serialize() on the form to get the data, but what do I have the web service accept for a parameter? I thought maybe I could use serializeArray(), but still I don't know what type of variable to accept for the JavaScript array. Finally, I was thinking that I might need to create a simple data transfer object with the data before sending it along to the web service. I just didn't wanna go through with the DTO route if there was a much simpler way or an established best practice that I should follow. Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide and let me know I wasn't clear enough, or if you have any questions.
