  • UIAlertView with subview animating to new view crashes app

    - by William
UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Congratulations" message:message delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:@"View", nil]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(110, 100, 80, 80)]; NSString *imagePath = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", [Array objectAtIndex:x]]; UIImage *bkgImg = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile: [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:imagePath ofType:@"png"]]; imageView.image = bkgImg; [bkgImg release]; [alert addSubview:imageView]; [imageView release]; [alert show]; [alert release]; That is the code that I am using to create the alert view. Currently, I have it set up so if the user presses one of the buttons, it will load up a new viewcontroller. It worked fine until I added a subview to the UIAlertView. Now, whenever it animates to the new screen, it just crashes the program. I am fairly new to iPhone development and any help would be appreciated.

  • Media Foundation: another way to call IMFActivate::ShutdownObject?

    - by KenC
Hi, Here is a question about IMFActivate::ActivateObject and IMFActivate::ShutdownObject in Media Foundation. According to MSDN, the component that calls ActivateObject is responsible for calling ShutdownObject. But there are two examples not following this rule: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd388503%28VS.85%29.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd317912%28VS.85%29.aspx In these two examples, they call ActivateObject and then release IMFActivate interface without calling ShutdownObject method. This is going to lead to memory leaking, right? Or there is another way to release the resource occupied by the object? (Can I use IMFMediaSource::Shutdown to release the object instead of using IMFActivate::ShutdownObject) Thanks in advance.

  • Why is the class wrong for NSFetchRequest?

    - by Stephen Furlani
Hello, I am working with an undocumented API (Osirix) and I have a sister-question to the one I posted here. I am having trouble loading objects from a managed object context. With loading from API, using their instance of _context and _model 2010-05-28 14:05:13.588 OsiriX[44012:a0f] Entity: Study 2010-05-28 14:05:13.589 OsiriX[44012:a0f] EntityClassName: DicomStudy 2010-05-28 14:05:13.589 OsiriX[44012:a0f] ClassName: DicomStudy With loading from Fetch Request (and my own instance of _context, and _model) 2010-05-28 14:19:09.956 rcOsirix[44431:7a03] Entity: Study 2010-05-28 14:19:09.957 rcOsirix[44431:7a03] EntityClassName: DicomStudy 2010-05-28 14:19:09.958 rcOsirix[44431:7a03] ClassName: NSManagedObject output given by: NSLog(@"Entity: %@",[[item entity] name]); NSLog(@"EntityClassName: %@", [[item entity] managedObjectClassName]); NSLog(@"ClassName: %s", class_getName(object_getClass([item class]))); So it is obvious that even though the Entity thinks it is a DicomSeries - it is not. It is just a NSManagedObject. DicomSeries has some "hard-coded" KVC stuff that I ran into a problem with in my other question. I'm pursuing a different line of reasoning in this thread - with the loading of the objects. The following is their code: - (NSManagedObjectModel *)managedObjectModel { if (managedObjectModel) return managedObjectModel; NSMutableSet *allBundles = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init]; [allBundles addObject: [NSBundle mainBundle]]; [allBundles addObjectsFromArray: [NSBundle allFrameworks]]; managedObjectModel = [[NSManagedObjectModel alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"/OsiriXDB_DataModel.mom"]]]; [allBundles release]; return managedObjectModel; } - (NSManagedObjectContext *) managedObjectContextLoadIfNecessary:(BOOL) loadIfNecessary { NSError *error = nil; NSString *localizedDescription; NSFileManager *fileManager; if( currentDatabasePath == nil) return nil; if (managedObjectContext) return managedObjectContext; if( loadIfNecessary == NO) return nil; fileManager = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; [persistentStoreCoordinator release]; persistentStoreCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel: self.managedObjectModel]; managedObjectContext = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [managedObjectContext setPersistentStoreCoordinator: persistentStoreCoordinator]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: currentDatabasePath]; if (![persistentStoreCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:url options:nil error:&error]) { NSLog(@"********** managedObjectContextLoadIfNecessary FAILED: %@", error); localizedDescription = [error localizedDescription]; error = [NSError errorWithDomain:@"OsiriXDomain" code:0 userInfo:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:error, NSUnderlyingErrorKey, [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Store Configuration Failure: %@", ((localizedDescription != nil) ? localizedDescription : @"Unknown Error")], NSLocalizedDescriptionKey, nil]]; } [[managedObjectContext undoManager] setLevelsOfUndo: 1]; [[managedObjectContext undoManager] disableUndoRegistration]; // This line is very important, if there is NO database.sql file [self saveDatabase: currentDatabasePath]; return managedObjectContext; } This is my code: NSManagedObjectModel* DataModule::managedObjectModel() { if (_managedObjectModel) return _managedObjectModel; NSMutableSet *allBundles = [[NSMutableSet alloc] init]; [allBundles addObject: [NSBundle mainBundle]]; [allBundles addObjectsFromArray: [NSBundle allFrameworks]]; _managedObjectModel = [[NSManagedObjectModel alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"/OsiriXDB_DataModel.mom"]]]; [allBundles release]; return [_managedObjectModel retain]; } ... NSError *error = nil; [_storeCoordinator release]; _storeCoordinator = [[NSPersistentStoreCoordinator alloc] initWithManagedObjectModel: managedObjectModel()]; _context = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [_context setPersistentStoreCoordinator: _storeCoordinator]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[NSString alloc] initWithCString:_DBPath.c_str()]]; if (url == nil) { [pool release]; _loadLock = false; return nil; } if (![_storeCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSSQLiteStoreType configuration:nil URL:url options:nil error:&error]) { NSLog(@"********** managedObjectContextLoadIfNecessary FAILED: %@", error); NSString *localizedDescription = [error localizedDescription]; error = [NSError errorWithDomain:@"OsiriXDomain" code:0 userInfo:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:error, NSUnderlyingErrorKey, [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Store Configuration Failure: %@", ((localizedDescription != nil) ? localizedDescription : @"Unknown Error")], NSLocalizedDescriptionKey, nil]]; //Exit Failure [pool release]; _loadLock = false; return nil; } [[_context undoManager] setLevelsOfUndo: 1]; [[_context undoManager] disableUndoRegistration]; ... I am including all the same frameworks.... but _allBundles isn't even used to create the managedObjectModel so I don't know what it's supposed to do except load them into memory so that the mom can look at them while loading. Totally lost. Help! Why would objects returned by my FetchRequest with the same Entity come out as NSManagedObjects and not DicomStudys? I'm including DicomStudy.h so it should see the object during creation of the model, context, and fetch request. [request setEntity: [[managedObjectModel() entitiesByName] objectForKey:@"Study"]]; Thanks in advance, -Stephen

  • iphone not displaying array variables correctly

    - by Rob
I was reading a tutorial on how to do a UIPicker and found this code: - (IBAction)buttonPressed { NSInteger row = [userPicker selectedRowInComponent:0]; NSString *selected = [userPickerData objectAtIndex:row]; NSString *title = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"You selected %a", selected]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:title message:@"Thank you for Choosing." delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"You're Welcome" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [title release]; } - (void)viewDidLoad { // [super viewDidLoad]; NSArray *array = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"New", @"Frank", @"Bob", @"Thor", nil]; self.userPickerData = array; [array release]; } The UIPicker displays correctly and the variables in the picker also display correctly. When the button is pressed then the alert message does come up but it says, "You selected.." and then it's a bunch of gibberish. Why aren't the array variables being passed correctly?

  • What guides or standards do you use for CVS in your team ?

    - by PaulHurleyuk
I'm starting to do a small amount of development within my company. I'm intending to use Git for CVS, and I'm interested to see what guidelines or standards people are using around CVS in their groups, similar to coding standards are often written within the group for the group. I'm assuming there will be things like; Commit often (at least every day/week/meeting etc) Release builds are always made from the master branch Prior to release, a new branch will be created for Testing and tagged as such. only bug fixes from this point onwards. The final release of this will be tagged as such and the bug fixes merged back into the trunk Each developer will have a public repo New features should get their own branch Obviously a lot of this will depend on what cvs you're using and how you've structured it. Similar Questions; http://stackoverflow.com/questions/273695/git-branch-naming-best-practices http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2006265/is-there-an-standard-naming-convention-for-git-tags

  • Releasing NSData causes exception...

    - by badmanj
Hi, Can someone please explain why the following code causes my app to bomb? NSData *myImage = UIImagePNGRepresentation(imageView.image); : [myImage release]; If I comment out the 'release' line, the app runs... but a few times calling the function containing this code and I get a crash - I guess caused by a memory leak. Even if I comment EVERYTHING else in the function out and just leave those two lines, when the release executes, the app crashes. I'm sure this must be a newbie "you don't know how to clean up your mess properly" kind of thing ;-) Cheers, Jamie.

  • How do you uninstall old custom installs of Xcode?

    - by Jonathan
Hi, When I install a beta, I do a custom install into a separate folder to the latest release version. I have several old beta installs. How do I uninstall the old custom versions of xcode? Can I just trash the folder? Our do I need to use Terminal? The release notes suggest to use this: $ sudo /Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all But will this just uninstall my original official release version 3.2? Thanks.

  • Can't create admin user on Heroku

    - by Nick5a1
I am new to rails and I have gone through Kevin Skoglund's Ruby on Rails 3 Essential Training course on Lynda.com. Through the course you set up a simple cms, which I did. It doesn't cover Git or deployment but I've pushed my simple cms to github (https://github.com/nick5a1/Simple_CMS) and deployed to Heroku (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/). In order to deploy to Heroku I followed the Heroku setup guide (https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/rails3) and switched my database from MySQL to PostgreSQL. As instructed I changed gen'mysql2' to gen 'sqlite3' in my Gemfile and ran bundle install before pushing. I then ran heroku run rake db:migrate. I'm running into 2 problems. When I try to log in (http://nkarrasch.herokuapp.com/access) I get an error "We're sorry, but something went wrong". I should instead be getting a flash message with invalid username/password combination. This is what I'm getting on my test environment on my local machine. Secondly, when I log into the Heroku console to create and create an admin user, when I try to save that user I get the following error: irb(main):004:0> user.save (1.2ms) BEGIN AdminUser Exists (1.9ms) SELECT 1 AS one FROM "admin_users" WHERE "admin_users"."username" = 'Nick5a1' LIMIT 1 (1.7ms) ROLLBACK => false Any advice on how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated :). Thanks very much, Nick EDIT: Here are my Heroku logs: 2012-06-27T20:36:44+00:00 heroku[slugc]: Slug compilation started 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Add shared-database:5mb add-on by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Release v2 created by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Add RAILS_ENV, LANG, PATH, RACK_ENV, GEM_PATH config by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Release v3 created by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Release v4 created by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:34+00:00 heroku[api]: Deploy 1d82839 by [email protected] 2012-06-27T20:37:35+00:00 heroku[slugc]: Slug compilation finished 2012-06-27T20:37:36+00:00 heroku[web.1]: Starting process with command `bundle exec rails server -p 45450` 2012-06-27T20:37:40+00:00 app[web.1]: DEPRECATION WARNING: You have Rails 2.3-style plugins in vendor/plugins! • Conceptual question about NSAutoreleasePools

    - by ryyst
In my Cocoa program, wouldn't a really simple way of dealing with autoreleased objects be to just create a timer object inside the app delegate that calls the following method e.g. every 10 seconds: if (pool) { // Release & drain the current pool to free the memory. [pool release]; } // Create a new pool. pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; The only problems I can imagine are: 1) If the above code runs in a separate thread, an object might get autoreleased between the release call to the old pool and the creation of the new pool - that seems highly unlikely though. 2) It's obviously not that efficient, because the pool might get released if there's nothing in it. Likewise, in the 10 second gap, many many objects might be autoreleased, causing the pool to grow a lot. Still, the above solution seems pretty suitable to small and simple projects. Why doesn't anybody use it? What's the best practice of using NSAutoreleasePools?

  • translating specifications into query predicates

    - by Jeroen
I'm trying to find a nice and elegant way to query database content based on DDD "specifications". In domain driven design, a specification is used to check if some object, also known as the candidate, is compliant to a (domain specific) requirement. For example, the specification 'IsTaskDone' goes like: class IsTaskDone extends Specification<Task> { boolean isSatisfiedBy(Task candidate) { return candidate.isDone(); } } The above specification can be used for many purposes, e.g. it can be used to validate if a task has been completed, or to filter all completed tasks from a collection. However, I want to re-use this, nice, domain related specification to query on the database. Of course, the easiest solution would be to retrieve all entities of our desired type from the database, and filter that list in-memory by looping and removing non-matching entities. But clearly that would not be optimal for performance, especially when the entity count in our db increases. Proposal So my idea is to create a 'ConversionManager' that translates my specification into a persistence technique specific criteria, think of the JPA predicate class. The services looks as follows: public interface JpaSpecificationConversionManager { <T> Predicate getPredicateFor(Specification<T> specification, Root<T> root, CriteriaQuery<?> cq, CriteriaBuilder cb); JpaSpecificationConversionManager registerConverter(JpaSpecificationConverter<?, ?> converter); } By using our manager, the users can register their own conversion logic, isolating the domain related specification from persistence specific logic. To minimize the configuration of our manager, I want to use annotations on my converter classes, allowing the manager to automatically register those converters. JPA repository implementations could then use my manager, via dependency injection, to offer a find by specification method. Providing a find by specification should drastically reduce the number of methods on our repository interface. In theory, this all sounds decent, but I feel like I'm missing something critical. What do you guys think of my proposal, does it comply to the DDD way of thinking? Or is there already a framework that does something identical to what I just described?

Hi friends, I got an another problem in my application and I am wasting so much of time on that. Does pls anyone can help with this problem. Actually I had an Event and I should give rating for that event for that I wrote the code as: In CellForRowAtIndexPath......I had the code as: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tv cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"MasterViewIdentifier"]; //UITableViewCell *cell = nil; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:@"MasterViewIdentifier"] autorelease]; cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone; UIView* elementView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20,170,320,280)]; elementView.tag = 0; elementView.backgroundColor=[UIColor clearColor]; [cell.contentView addSubview:elementView]; [elementView release]; } UIView* elementView = [cell.contentView viewWithTag:0]; elementView.backgroundColor=[UIColor clearColor]; for(UIView* subView in elementView.subviews) { [subView removeFromSuperview]; } if(indexPath.section == 8) { UIImage *whiteImg = [UIImage imageNamed:@"white_star.png"] ; • What guides or standards do you use for version control in your team ?

    - by PaulHurleyuk
I'm starting to do a small amount of development within my company. I'm intending to use Git for version control, and I'm interested to see what guidelines or standards people are using around version in their groups, similar to coding standards are often written within the group for the group. • Core Data: Fetch all entities in a to-many-relationship of a particular object?

    - by Björn Marschollek
Hi there, in my iPhone application I am using simple Core Data Model with two entities (Item and Property): Item name properties Property name value item Item has one attribute (name) and one one-to-many-relationship (properties). Its inverse relationship is item. Property has two attributes the according inverse relationship. Now I want to show my data in table views on two levels. The first one lists all items; when one row is selected, a new UITableViewController is pushed onto my UINavigationController's stack. The new UITableView is supposed to show all properties (i.e. their names) of the selected item. To achieve this, I use a NSFetchedResultsController stored in an instance variable. On the first level, everything works fine when setting up the NSFetchedResultsController like this: -(NSFetchedResultsController *) fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController) return fetchedResultsController; // goal: tell the FRC to fetch all item objects. NSFetchRequest *fetch = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Item" inManagedObjectContext:self.moContext]; [fetch setEntity:entity]; NSSortDescriptor *sort = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; [fetch setSortDescriptors:[NSArray arrayWithObject:sort]]; [fetch setFetchBatchSize:10]; NSFetchedResultsController *frController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetch managedObjectContext:self.moContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"cache"]; self.fetchedResultsController = frController; fetchedResultsController.delegate = self; [sort release]; [frController release]; [fetch release]; return fetchedResultsController; } However, on the second-level UITableView, I seem to do something wrong. I implemented the fetchedresultsController in a similar way: -(NSFetchedResultsController *) fetchedResultsController { if (fetchedResultsController) return fetchedResultsController; // goal: tell the FRC to fetch all property objects that belong to the previously selected item NSFetchRequest *fetch = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; // fetch all Property entities. NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Property" inManagedObjectContext:self.moContext]; [fetch setEntity:entity]; // limit to those entities that belong to the particular item NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"item.name like '%@'",self.item.name]]; [fetch setPredicate:predicate]; // sort it. Boring. NSSortDescriptor *sort = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"name" ascending:YES]; [fetch setSortDescriptors:[NSArray arrayWithObject:sort]]; NSError *error = nil; NSLog(@"%d entities found.",[self.moContext countForFetchRequest:fetch error:&error]); // logs "3 entities found."; I added those properties before. See below for my saving "problem". if (error) NSLog("%@",error); // no error, thus nothing logged. [fetch setFetchBatchSize:20]; NSFetchedResultsController *frController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetch managedObjectContext:self.moContext sectionNameKeyPath:nil cacheName:@"cache"]; self.fetchedResultsController = frController; fetchedResultsController.delegate = self; [sort release]; [frController release]; [fetch release]; return fetchedResultsController; } Now it's getting weird. The above NSLog statement returns me the correct number of properties for the selected item. However, the UITableViewDelegate method tells me that there are no properties: -(NSInteger) tableView:(UITableView *)table numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[self.fetchedResultsController sections] objectAtIndex:section]; NSLog(@"Found %d properties for item \"%@\". Should have found %d.",[sectionInfo numberOfObjects], self.item.name, [self.item.properties count]); // logs "Found 0 properties for item "item". Should have found 3." return [sectionInfo numberOfObjects]; } The same implementation works fine on the first level. It's getting even weirder. I implemented some kind of UI to add properties. I create a new Property instance via Property *p = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Property" inManagedObjectContext:self.moContext];, set up the relationships and call [self.moContext save:&error]. This seems to work, as error is still nil and the object gets saved (I can see the number of properties when logging the Item instance, see above). However, the delegate methods are not fired. This seems to me due to the possibly messed up fetchRequest(Controller). Any ideas? Did I mess up the second fetch request? Is this the right way to fetch all entities in a to-many-relationship for a particular instance at all?

  • VB.NET: Can the .EXE built by VS2005 be deployed as a standalone EXE?

    - by Craig Johnston
VB.NET: Can the .EXE built by VS2005 be deployed as a standalone EXE? When I change the mode in VS2005 to "Release" and build the solution, the bin\Release directory then contains the solution .EXE file, but also a .pdb, vshost.exe and .xml file. What are these extra files and are they necessary? I copied the .exe file to another machine and it executed properly, but there was a significant delay when it first executed - thereafter it was like any other program. What is the reason for this, and can it be helped? Is it because the other 3 files in the Release folder are not there with it?

  • Programming for a 32-bit environment vs programming for a 64-bit environment / Build configurations

    - by Russel
I was looking at some same code (a sample MS Visual Studio C++ project) recently with multiple build configurations (Release/Debug, Win32/x64). My question: What is the difference? I guess I understand Release/Debug (Release = finalized version of project, Debug = version used to run in debugger), but what things need to be considered when building different versions for Win32/x64 platforms? Is there any coding differences, or does this just affect how that same code is ultimately built into machine code? I know there are different library files depending on whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit system as well... Are all of these differences again just machine code? Would a 32-bit library file and its corresponding 64-bit library file be two files with exactly the same functions build from the same source code originally, and only differing in their machine code implementation? Thanks! --Russel

  • Hiring a project or development manager: what are good interview questions?

    - by Totophil
What questions would you ask a candidate applying for a software project or development manager position? Please could you submit one question per answer (with multiple answer if necessary) or a sequence of related questions. This way eventually all questions will get ordered by how good we all think they are. Please also provide a short guidance for evaluating possible answers. UPDATE: It seems that a large proportion of the answers so far are aimed at generic management skills. What would you ask someone who is going to manage software development, let's say in your organisation? What knowledge, skills and attitude will you be looking for in the candidate replies?

  • SVNServ deny write access to a directory via wildcard match.

    - by Wes
Hi, We have a requirement that every piece of code that makes it into production will be reviewed by a senior developer. The way I have envisioned this working is by a naming convention for branches that regular developers cannot check code into. Following the SVN recomended directory structure this translates into something like. [project-name]/trunk/ [project-name]/branches/ [project-name]/branches/development-01 [project-name]/branches/development-02 [project-name]/branches/task-increasefontsize [project-name]/branches/release-01 [project-name]/branches/release-02 [project-name]/tags/ So in the authz file I would like to have something like the following [/] @developers = rw [/*/branches/release-*] @developers = r @senior_developers = rw However I can't find any evidence that SVN supports * (or any other wildcard character). Is such a thing possible or do I need a pre-commit hook?

  • Objective-C: when does an assigned object get deallocated

    - by Stefan Klumpp
If I have a instance method and within this method I do something like this: NSString *peopleString = [peopleList componentsJoinedByString: @", "]; ... UILabel *likeLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(16.0+6.0f, 4.0f, 252.0f, 12.0f)]; [likeLabel setText:peopleString]; [likeLabel setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial" size:12]]; [likeRow addSubview:likeLabel]; [likeLabel release]; The componentsJoinedByString doesn't contain a new, copy or alloc, thus I don't have to release it. What I'm wondering though is, when my peopleString gets deallocated. Might it happen to early? Meaning, before I can set the text in my label. Should I better use a [[NSString alloc] initWithString:[peopleList componentsJoinedByString: @", "]]; and release it at the end of this method?

  • Branch structure for a web site

    - by steve_d
I was recently reading the TFS Branching Guide and it suggests a branch for every release. For a web site, there is only one "version" released at a time. In that case is it appropriate to have a single "Production" branch? Then, during the process of preparing for a release, you merge changes from the Main branch into Production. (As opposed to the suggestion to branch each release.) If you need to do a hotfix, do it in the Production branch, then reverse integrate into Main. Doing it this way allows you to keep configuration files for Production intact in the Production branch.
