• How to navigate to a UITableView position by the cell it's title using indexing

  I'm using a UITableView filled with a around 200 cells containing a title, subtitle and thumbnail image. I want to a have a selection method just like within the contact App from Apple where you can select a character from the alphabet. I'm at the point where I've drawn the selection interface (A,B,C etc), and via it's delegate I'm retrieving the respective index and title (i.e: A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 etc.). Now I want to navigate to the first cell, where the first character of the cell it's title is starting with the selected index character. • Display TableViews corresponding to segmentedControl in a single tableview without pushing a new view

  I have a tableViewController where I have used the Interface Builder to insert a Segmented Controller having two segments. Since by default, first segment is always selected, I am not facing any problem in displaying the tableview corresponding to first segment. However, when I click on the second segment, I want to display another tableView. Here goes the problem. I am calling newTableViewController class on clicking the second segment. Hence, this view is getting pushed instead. Please suggest me a method to have these two tableViews in the main tableView upon clicking the segments. I have used switch case for switching between the segments. • SDL (And Others) Virtual Key Input

  Today I set up the input in my application for all the different keys. This works fine except for virtual keys, for example, caret or ampersand. Keys that normally need shift to be got at. Using SDL these virtual keys don't work. As in they do not register an event. if (event.type == SDL_KEYDOWN) { switch (event.key.keysym.sym) { case SDLK_CARET: Keys[KeyCodes::Caret] = KeyState::Down; break; case SDLK_UP: Keys[KeyCodes::Up] = KeyState::Down; break; default: break; } I am absolutely sure my system works with physical keys like Up. The program queries a keystate like so: if (Keys[KeyCode] == KeyState::Down) { lua_pushboolean(L, true); } else { lua_pushboolean(L, false); } KeyCode is passed in as an argument. So why are virtual keys, or keys that need shift to get at not working using SDL's KeyDown event type? Is more code needed to get to them? Or am I being stupid?

• Parsing an XML string containing "&#x20;" (which must be preserved)

  I have code that is passed a string containing XML. This XML may contain one or more instances of &#x20; (an entity reference for the blank space character). I have a requirement that these references should not be resolved (i.e. they should not be replaced with an actual space character). Is there any way for me to achieve this? Basically, given a string containing the XML: <pattern value="[A-Z0-9&#x20;]" /> I do not want it to be converted to: <pattern value="[A-Z0-9 ]" /> (What I am actually trying to achieve is to simply take an XML string and write it to a "pretty-printed" file. This is having the side-effect of resolving occurrences of &#x20; in the string to a single space character, which need to be preserved. The reason for this requirement is that the written XML document must conform to an externally-defined specification.) I have tried creating a sub-class of XmlTextReader to read from the XML string and overriding the ResolveEntity() method, but this isn't called. I have also tried assigning a custom XmlResolver.

• Flash automatically names objects on stage "instance#"

  Hi, I have 2 TLF text boxes already placed on my main stage. In the property inspector window I give these the instance names: "txt1" and "txt2". I am trying to have a single mouseup event, and figure out which text box it occurred on. I tried setting the .name property, but it had no effect. In the publish settings, I have "Automatically declare stage instances" checked. Also, is it possible to have a single change event for multiple slider components? • "render as JSON" is display JSON as text instead of returning it to AJAX call as expected

  I'm navigating to the index action of MyController. Some of the on the index page I'm making an AJAX call back to myAction in MyController. I expect myAction action to return some data as JSON to my AJAX call so I can do something with the data client side, but instead of returning the data as JSON like I want, the data is being displayed as text. Example of my Grails controller: class MyController { def index() { render( view: "myView" ) } def myAction { def mapOfStuff = [ "foo": "foo", "bar":] render mapOfStuff as JSON } } Example of my JavaScript: $( function() { function callMyAction() { $.ajax({ dataType: 'json', url: base_url + '/myController/myAction', success: function( data ) { $(function() { if( data.foo ) { alert( data.foo ); } if( data.bar ) { alert( data.bar ); } }); } }); } }); What I expect is that my page will render, then my JavaScript will be called, then two alerts will display. Instead the JSON array is displayed as text in my browser window: {"foo":"foo","bar":"bar"} At this point the last segment of the URL in my address bar is myAction and not index. Now if I manually enter the URL of the index page and press refresh, all works as expected. I have half a dozen AJAX calls I do the exact same way and none of them are having problems. What is the deal here? UPDATE: I have noticed something. When I set a break point in the index action of MyController and another one in the myAction action, the break point in myAction gets hit BEFORE the break point in index, even though I am navigating to the index. This is obviously closer to the root cause of my problem, but why is it happening?

• .Net file writing and string splitting issues

  I have a requirement where the file should be split using a given character. Default splitting options are CRLF and LF In both these cases I am splitting the line by \r\n and \r respectively. Also I have requirement where any size of file should be processed. (Processing is basically inserting the given string in a file at given position). For this I am reading the file in chunk of 1024 bytes. Then I am applying the string.Split() method. Split() method gives options for ignoring white spaces and none. I have to add back these line break characters to the line. for this I am using a binary writer and I am writing the byte array to the new file. Issue:- 1) When line break is CRLF, and the split option is NONE, while spaces are also added in the splitted array. Second option is given (to ignore white spaces) CRLF works properly. 2)Bit ignoring white space option creates other problems, as I am reading the file byte by byte I can't ignore a white space. 3)When line break characters are other than default(e.g. '|', a null value is prepended to the resulting line. Can anybody give solution to my issues?

• Using BPEL Performance Statistics to Diagnose Performance Bottlenecks

  Tuning performance of Oracle SOA 11G applications could be challenging. Because SOA is a platform for you to build composite applications that connect many applications and "services", when the overall performance is slow, the bottlenecks could be anywhere in the system: the applications/services that SOA connects to, the infrastructure database, or the SOA server itself.How to quickly identify the bottleneck becomes crucial in tuning the overall performance. Fortunately, the BPEL engine in Oracle SOA 11G (and 10G, for that matter) collects BPEL Engine Performance Statistics, which show the latencies of low level BPEL engine activities. The BPEL engine performance statistics can make it a bit easier for you to identify the performance bottleneck. Although the BPEL engine performance statistics are always available, the access to and interpretation of them are somewhat obscure in the early and current (PS5) 11G versions. This blog attempts to offer instructions that help you to enable, retrieve and interpret the performance statistics, before the future versions provides a more pleasant user experience. Overview of BPEL Engine Performance Statistics  SOA BPEL has a feature of collecting some performance statistics and store them in memory. One MBean attribute, StatLastN, configures the size of the memory buffer to store the statistics. This memory buffer is a "moving window", in a way that old statistics will be flushed out by the new if the amount of data exceeds the buffer size. Since the buffer size is limited by StatLastN, impacts of statistics collection on performance is minimal. By default StatLastN=-1, which means no collection of performance data. Once the statistics are collected in the memory buffer, they can be retrieved via another MBean oracle.as.soainfra.bpel:Location=[Server Name],name=BPELEngine,type=BPELEngine.> My friend in Oracle SOA development wrote this simple 'bpelstat' web app that looks up and retrieves the performance data from the MBean and displays it in a human readable form. It does not have beautiful UI but it is fairly useful. Although in Oracle SOA 11.1.1.5 onwards the same statistics can be viewed via a more elegant UI under "request break down" at EM -> SOA Infrastructure -> Service Engines -> BPEL -> Statistics, some unsophisticated minds like mine may still prefer the simplicity of the 'bpelstat' JSP. One thing that simple JSP does do well is that you can save the page and send it to someone to further analyze Follows are the instructions of how to install and invoke the BPEL statistic JSP. My friend in SOA Development will soon blog about interpreting the statistics. Stay tuned. Step1: Enable BPEL Engine Statistics for Each SOA Servers via Enterprise Manager First st you need to set the StatLastN to some number as a way to enable the collection of BPEL Engine Performance Statistics EM Console -> soa-infra(Server Name) -> SOA Infrastructure -> SOA Administration -> BPEL Properties Click on "More BPEL Configuration Properties" Click on attribute "StatLastN", set its value to some integer number. Typically you want to set it 1000 or more. Step 2: Download and Deploy bpelstat.war File to Admin Server, Note: the WAR file contains a JSP that does NOT have any security restriction. You do NOT want to keep in your production server for a long time as it is a security hazard. Deactivate the war once you are done. Download the bpelstat.war to your local PC At WebLogic Console, Go to Deployments -> Install Click on the "upload your file(s)" Click the "Browse" button to upload the deployment to Admin Server Accept the uploaded file as the path, click next Check the default option "Install this deployment as an application" Check "AdminServer" as the target server Finish the rest of the deployment with default settings Console -> Deployments Check the box next to "bpelstat" application Click on the "Start" button. It will change the state of the app from "prepared" to "active" Step 3: Invoke the BPEL Statistic Tool The BPELStat tool merely call the MBean of BPEL server and collects and display the in-memory performance statics. You usually want to do that after some peak loads. Go to http://<admin-server-host>:<admin-server-port>/bpelstat Enter the correct admin hostname, port, username and password Enter the SOA Server Name from which you want to collect the performance statistics. For example, SOA_MS1, etc. Click Submit Keep doing the same for all SOA servers. Step 3: Interpret the BPEL Engine Statistics You will see a few categories of BPEL Statistics from the JSP Page. First it starts with the overall latency of BPEL processes, grouped by synchronous and asynchronous processes. Then it provides the further break down of the measurements through the life time of a BPEL request, which is called the "request break down". 1. Overall latency of BPEL processes The top of the page shows that the elapse time of executing the synchronous process TestSyncBPELProcess from the composite TestComposite averages at about 1543.21ms, while the elapse time of executing the asynchronous process TestAsyncBPELProcess from the composite TestComposite2 averages at about 1765.43ms. The maximum and minimum latency were also shown. Synchronous process statistics <statistics>     <stats key="default/TestComposite!2.0.2-ScopedJMSOSB*soa_bfba2527-a9ba-41a7-95c5-87e49c32f4ff/TestSyncBPELProcess" min="1234" max="4567" average="1543.21" count="1000">     </stats> </statistics> Asynchronous process statistics <statistics>     <stats key="default/TestComposite2!2.0.2-ScopedJMSOSB*soa_bfba2527-a9ba-41a7-95c5-87e49c32f4ff/TestAsyncBPELProcess" min="2234" max="3234" average="1765.43" count="1000">     </stats> </statistics> 2. Request break down Under the overall latency categorized by synchronous and asynchronous processes is the "Request breakdown". Organized by statistic keys, the Request breakdown gives finer grain performance statistics through the life time of the BPEL requests.It uses indention to show the hierarchy of the statistics. Request breakdown <statistics>     <stats key="eng-composite-request" min="0" max="0" average="0.0" count="0">         <stats key="eng-single-request" min="22" max="606" average="258.43" count="277">             <stats key="populate-context" min="0" max="0" average="0.0" count="248"> Please note that in SOA 11.1.1.6, the statistics under Request breakdown is aggregated together cross all the BPEL processes based on statistic keys. It does not differentiate between BPEL processes. If two BPEL processes happen to have the statistic that share same statistic key, the statistics from two BPEL processes will be aggregated together. Keep this in mind when we go through more details below. 2.1 BPEL process activity latencies A very useful measurement in the Request Breakdown is the performance statistics of the BPEL activities you put in your BPEL processes: Assign, Invoke, Receive, etc. The names of the measurement in the JSP page directly come from the names to assign to each BPEL activity. Example 2: Follows is the measurement of BPEL activity called "InvokeCreditProvider". These activities are not directly tied to a particular BPEL process or process activity, but they are critical factors in the overall engine performance. These activities include the latency of saving asynchronous requests to database, and latency of process dehydration. • Problem with installing Pear (XAMPP)

  Hello I installed the latest version of XAMPP (1.7.4) on my windows xp system. • FTP ASCII file from Windows to Mainframe (iSeries) — special characters

  I have a text file created on a Windows machine, the page coding used on the file is 1252 This file is then ftp'd to an iSeries machine for processing As far as I can see, it appears on the iSeries. It has a CCSID of 037. Sometimes this file contains French characters (e.g. é). When this happens, the FTP will fail with a truncation error as the french character gets converted to some extra junk: �. The file is fixed block so the line does get truncated due to the one character turning into 3. I can convert the French characters to characters without the accents before sending but would prefer to keep everything intact. So is there a way to retain them and send the file over properly? I'm very green on iSeries, mainly a Windows guy.

• Creating a GraphicsPath from a semi-transparent bitmap

  I want to create a GraphicsPath and a list of Points to form the outline of the non-transparent area of a bitmap. If needed, I can guarantee that each image has only one solid collection of nontransparent pixels. So for example, I should be able to record the points either clockwise or counter-clockwise along the edge of the pixels and perform a full closed loop. The speed of this algorithm is not important. However, the efficiency of the resulting points is semi-important if I can skip some points to reduce in a smaller and less complex GraphicsPath. I will list my current code below which works perfectly with most images. However, some images which are more complex end up with paths which seem to connect in the wrong order.   I ask that you ignore all logic.. i was taught poorly at first and so i still dont understand everything about static crap and its killing me. My error is with every single variable that i declare then try to use later inside my methods... i get the non-static variable cannot~~ error I can simply put all the rough coding of my methods inside my cases, and it works but then i cannot use recursion...   EDIT: It was issue with database table - dropping and recreating table id column did the work. Problem solved. I'm trying to build web application, that is connected to postgresql database. Results are displaying in view with Kendo UI. When I'm trying to add new row (with Kendo UI 'Add new record' button), I get error 23505: 'Duplicate key violates unique constraint'. My guess is, that EF takes id to insert from the beginning, not the last one, because after 35 (it's number of rows in table) tries - and errors - adding works perfectly. Can someone help me to understand, what's wrong?   I've imported some data into Excel (from a text file) and it contains some sort of newline characters. It looks like this initially: If I hit F2 (to edit) then Enter (to save changes) on each of the cells with a newline (without actually editing anything), Excel automatically changes the layout to look like this: I don't want these newlines characters here, as it messes up data processing further down the track. How can I do a search for these to detect more of them? The usual search function doesn't accept an enter character as a search character.

  The setup: Active Directory is enabled on the network (abcd.com) We have a single character host name (1.abcd.com) one of the desktop has an old XP with NetBIOS stuff enabled The Problem Whenever we query for any host name from the XP machine, the first character alone is taken for DNS query (one.abcd.com will query for o.abcd.com, two.abcd.com will query for t.abcd.com) Even if we give some IP, the application queries with numeric prefix (10.x.x.x will query for 1.abcd.com).Since we already have 1.abcd.com, all query and traffic ends up in 1.abcd.com After discussion with network guys, it seems netbios DNS queries by having some prefix etc. but none of them is actually sure on what is happening. Is there any docs which can explain this behavior ? Is this valid behavior in NetBIOS environment ?

  I am attempting to use the find command and came across an article at http://www.linux.ie/newusers/beginners-linux-guide/find.php which states The wildcard character is escaped with a slash so BASH sends a literal asterisk to the find utility as an argument instead of performing filename expansion and passing any number of files in as arguments. for the command find . -name up\*. Being new to the world of Linux I don't quite understand how the use of a backslash which is meant to escape the meta character * is interpreted and returns results as though as it is being passed to find. Does it mean if I use the -name option I have to use a backslash to pass a wildcard and if I don't use -name I don't have to use a backslash?

  I'm trying redirect from an exact folder in nginx.conf Given the URL: domain.com/path1/path2/path3 Redirect to: sub.domain.com/path1/path2/path3 Here's what I have so far: location ~* ^/path1[\/?]$ { rewrite ^/(.*) http:sub.domain.com/$1 break; } I had it working with location /path1 { rewrite ^/(.*) http:sub.domain.com/$1 break; } The problem with that is it also redirects a page like domain.com/path1moretext/someotherpath to sub.domain.com/path1moretext/someotherpath Which is not what I want. (had to take out the "//" in the href code above because this is my first post, sorry).

  Hi all, I have a problem with adding a set of UIButtons to a UIScrollView. With the buttons added it seems that the scroll command is not being passed to the scroll view as the buttons cover the whole surface. I've read various posts on this but still can't figure it out. I'm pretty new to iPhone programming so there's probably something obvious I've missed. I've tried things like canCancelContentTouches and delaysContentTouches to TRUE and FALSE. Here is the code I use to add the buttons to the scrollview.
