• Alternate CD image downloaded last year gives different hash

  I had downloaded the alternate CD images through torrents some time last year, and now that I need it again I decided to check it's md5 hash. $ md5sum ubuntu-11.10-alternate-i386.iso b502888194367acdec4d79203e7a539c ubuntu-11.10-alternate-i386.iso Now the problem is, the reference hashes it's supposed to match to is completely different: 24da873c870d6a3dbfc17390dda52eb8 ubuntu-11.10-alternate-i386.iso Can I safely conclude the image I downloaded is corrupted?   First of all, thank you very much for providing this useful forum. Too bad for me, there is no support for the Acer Aspire S3 yet (just came out in October) Short Description of the Problem: I cannot adjust the screen brightness. Neither Compiz nor the FN Key combination work. Also the fan keeps running on full power. As you can guess, both of these drain my battery.   Where can I get a list of recommended PDF viewer and form-filler components that I can buy and install in C#? I query on C# component PDF viewer on Google and get a lot of hits, but I'm not certain what programmers have tried and liked. Background: See, my employer is wanting me to build one in C# as a kind of training exercise, but also to be a product for sales lead generation for another product they sell. The employer is perfectly okay buying something, as long as it's good. I've learned VB6 and PHP, and know a little C and C++, so I'm trying to learn where people get the best-rated addon components for it, and especially for this PDF viewer and form filler thing he wants.

  I have been looking around to try and find some confirmation and clarity on the limit of pageviews that Google allow per month for a Google Analytics account. I have read that the limit of hits per month is 10,000,000, and the limit of pageviews is 5,000,000. Putting 2 and 2 together I am thinking this is to allow the other 5,000,000 for events and social clicks and the like? Google's documentation states 5m, but the hits/pageviews is a bit of a grey area as i've read suggestions that the limit can be considered as 10m

  I am creating a script in Python to integrate Pidgin with Unity (12.04), I've managed to do the counting notifications system using the Launcher API. But I dont know what event or signal is activated when the conversation window gains focus (To clear the message counter). I've tried some of the signals available on the documentation of Pidgin but none of them worked. Is there any GTK(or anything) event that is triggered when the window chat gets focus?

• How do I simplify terrain with tunnels or overhangs?

  I'm attempting to store vertex data in a quadtree with C++, such that far-away vertices can be combined to simplify the object and speed up rendering. This works well with a reasonably flat mesh, but what about terrain with overhangs or tunnels? How should I represent such a mesh in a quadtree? After the initial generation, each mesh is roughly 130,000 polygons and about 300 of these meshes are lined up to create the surface of a planetary body. A fully generated planet is upwards of 10,000,000 polygons before applying any culling to the individual meshes. Therefore, this second optimization is vital for the project. The rest of my confusion focuses around my inexperience with vertex data: How do I properly loop through the vertex data to group them into specific quads? How do I conclude from vertex data what a quad's maximum size should be? How many quads should the quadtree include?

  Had an interesting chat with Greg about said topic and searching showed the following link to discuss this topic in some detail (no reason for me to repeat this). insert /*+ noappend parallel(t1) */ into t1 select /*+ parallel(t2) */ * from t2 generates a load table conventional and does give you a parallel insert without doing a direct path insert. As this is missing from the official documentation it is probably something few people actually know existed, so kudos to Randolf Geist.

• Can I use PBOs for textures in iOS?

  As far as I can see, there is no GL_PIXEL_UNPACK_BUFFER. Also, the OpenGL ES 2.0 specification (and as far as I know, no iOS device currently supports OpenGL ES 2.0) states that glMapBufferOES() can only use GL_ARRAY_BUFFER as a target, yet glTexImage2D() and glTexSubImage2D() only seem to use PBOs if GL_PIXEL_UNPACK_BUFFER is bound. The OpenGL documentation for glBindBuffer() also states that: GL_PIXEL_PACK_BUFFER and GL_PIXEL_UNPACK_BUFFER are available only if the GL version is 2.1 or greater. So, can I use PBOs for textures? Am I missing something obvious?

  Haven't had a chance to setup Davmail per the earlier discussion around connecting to my Exchange box w/ Kontact but tonight I had some free time. So I have Davmail installed and working I thinking, but the problem that I am running into is the icon doesn't not show up in the system tray.
