• Intel Centrino Wireless N 1000 doesn't work on a Lenovo Z560

  I upgraded my Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 and my Wifi has stopped working. I have a Lenovo Z560 that has Intel centrino wireless-N 1000. I have searched various threads having similar problems for a solution and have no success. The wlan0 is not even showing up in rfkill. Please help me find a solution. I am giving below the output of various debug commands. Thanks in advance. My first thought was adobe illustrator, but I can't seem to google up any info on how to convert an .ai file to vertices. I'm only going to be using very simple 2d shapes so I wonder if I need to use a 3d modelling program? How is this typically done, when you are working with 2d non-sprite shapes?

• What is it that automatically checks config changes (such as those in /etc) into git?

  I remember reading on the ubuntu forums some time ago about a program to automatically check configuration changes into version control for you. It was (of course) not Ubuntu-specific. I'm pretty sure it used git, though it may have been svn, or perhaps even able to work with multiple different VCSs. My Googling has turned up nothing, and I'd rather not roll my own script if someone has already done this well. Of course I could just manually check things in, but there are reasons I'd like it done automatically. (I'm actually planning to use this for my LastSession.plist file for Safari, so when the #@$%^*&! thing crashes, and I don't restore everything, and then Leopard crashes, the fact that it has such lousy session management won't mean I lose the dozens of windows with dozens of tabs I had open.)

• Mac won't boot into safe mode

  Mac boots fine normally, except when in safe mode. Holding down shift when booting gets me to the progress bar on the grey screen. Progress bar gets about half way before mac reboots. I modified nvram boot-args to get a better look: sudo nvram boot-args="-x -v" It definitely gets through fsck, skips loading kernel extensions (since it's in safe mode), does something with the network interfaces, then this is the last thing it wips through... I normally pop up a notification “balloon” at the start, and then do the bulk of the work, and then pop up a balloon at the end to let me know it’s done.   i'm a new linux user and i cannot add or edit any network connections, nor is the system detecting any wireless networks when i try to access additional hardware from system, it doesn't even open...so i'm stuck. lspci | grep -i wireless comes out with 06:0a.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network connection (rev 05) lspci -n -s 06:0a.0 comes out with 8086:4220. i dont know if that info was relevant but any help on this would be appreciated.

  Hi, everyone: When you are doing ADF Mobile development, and you need to deploy the application to an iOS device, you would need to compile/deploy the app with iOS App Certificates and Provisioning Profile. This means you would need to "Deploy to Package" or "Deploy to iTunes" during deployment, and configure JDeveloper with the proper certificates/profiles. • Can't update Nvidia driver and having error near the end of the installation

  I had just got Ubuntu (first timer to Ubuntu so be very descriptive). I think there a problem with my Nvida update it won't let me update it. This is the name of the update in update manager NVIDIA binary xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library. • Interconnect nodes in a Java distributed infrastructure for tweet processing

  I'm working in a new version of an old project that I used to download and process user statuses from Twitter. The main problem of that project was its infrastructure. I used multiple instances of a java application (trackers) to download from Twitter given an specific task (basically terms to search for), connected with a central node (a web application) that had to process all tweets once per day and generate a new task for each trackers once each 15 minutes. The central node also had to monitor all trackers and enable/disable them under user petition. This, as I said, was too slow because I had multiple bottlenecks, so in this new version I want to improve the infrastructure and isolate all functionalities in specific nodes. I also need a good notification system to receive notifications for any node. So, in the next diagram I show the components that I'll need in this new version: As you can see, there are more nodes. Here are some notes about them: Dashboard: Controls trackers statuses and send a single task to each of them (under user request). The trackers will use this task until replaced with a new one (if done, not each 15 minutes like before). Search engine: I need to store all the tweets. They are firstly stored in a local database for each tracker but after that I'm thinking on using something like Elasticsearch to be able to do fast searches. Tweet processor: Just and isolated component with its own database (maybe something like the search engine to have fast access to info generated by the module). In the future more could be added. Application UI: A web application with a shared database with the Dashboard (mainly to store users information and preferences). Indeed, both could be merged into a single web. The main difference with the previous version of the project is that now they will be isolated and they will only show information and send requests. I will not do any heavy task in them (like process tweets as I did before). So, having this components, my main headache is how to structure all to not have to rewrite a lot of code every time I need to access any new data. Another headache is how can I interconnect nodes. I could use sockets but that is a pain in the ass. Maybe a REST layer? And finally, if all the nodes are isolated, how could I generate notifications for each user which info is only in the database used by the Application UI? I'm programming this using Java and Spring (at least I used them in the last version) but I have no problems with changing the language if I can take advantage of a tool/library/engine to make my life easier and have a better platform. Any comment will be appreciated.
