    Hi! I have the following data in a c++ string John Doe 01.01.1970 I need to extract the date and time from it into int variables. I tried it like this: int last_space = text_string.find_last_of(' '); int day = int(text_string.substr(last_space + 1, 2)); But I got invalid cast from type ‘std::basic_string’ to type ‘int’. When I extract the "John Doe" part in another string variable, all works fine. What's wrong? I am trying to compile it with g++ -Wall -Werror.

    I am learning Wicket by "Enjoying Web Development with Wicket" book. And in an example: int weight = ((Integer) weightModel.getObject()).intValue(); is used. When I click Submit button it throws exception. But after changed the code to: int weight=Integer.parseInt( (String) weightModel.getObject()); It works fine. What is the reason for throwing the exception? I am trying to read with ifstream and convert it. string things = "10 11 12 -10"; int i1; int i2; int i3; int i4; stringstream into; into << things; into >> i1; into >> i2; into >> i3; into >> i4; I expect it to be : i1 = 10 i2 = 11 i3 = 12 i4 = -10 is that correct? Can the same stringstream variable be used multiple times? When I tried, the first time was ok but everything else later on is just 0.

    This is mostly a language-agnostic question. If I'm waiting for two events to complete (say, two IO events or http requests), what is the best pattern to deal with this. One thing I can think of is the following (pseudo js example). request1.onComplete = function() { req1Completed = true; eventsCompleted(); } request2.onComplete = function() { req2Completed = true; eventsCompleted(); } eventsCompleted = function() { if (!req1Completed || !req2Completed) return; // do stuff } Is this the most effective pattern, or are there more elegant ways to solve this issue?

  • Working with Foreign languages

    My DB needs to hold strings containing foreign language characters such that; User enters string into form, form submitted and string added to DB, string will be displayed on page for viewing. I would like to use UTF8 as this will be able to handle all of the required languages. Currently I believe my DB is set to 'latin1' but webpages are capable of displaying correct charachters anyways. Problems arise when trying to set textareas to hold foreign charachters and when viewing DB via command-line. How can I implement this most effectively? My plan was to blitz the whole site such that:DB Charset is UTF8 and web pages charset is UTF8. Could someone give me the minimal commands on how to do this so I don't end up duplicating things (Having "UTF8" commands everywhere when I really just need one) and making things too difficult to control.     So I have a function in unmanaged c++ that gets called when some text happens to have "arrived": #using <MyParser.dll> ... void dump_body(const unsigned char *Body, int BodyLen) { // Need to pass the body to DumpBody, but as what type? ... lMyParser::Parser::DumpBody(???); } DumpBody is a function defined in a C# DLL that should take one parameter of type? Body holds an array of characters (text) of length BodyLen. There's obviously some marshalling to be done here but I have no idea how. Please help.

    [Caveat] This is not directly a programing question, but it is something that comes up so often in language processing that I'm sure it's of some use to the community. Does anyone have a good list of uninteresting (English) words that have been tested by more then a casual look? This would include all prepositions, conjunctions, etc... words that may have semantic meaning, but are often frequent in every sentence, regardless of the subject. I've built my own lists from time to time for personal projects but they've been ad-hoc; I continuously add words that I forgotten as they come in.

So, is their any open-source image converter in java or is there any website or any tool , through which I can connect with my java application and then that tool or website convert my jpg image to jpg or png image and then store that image on some place. So that if their any image unsupported in ImageIO then also i can store that image by converting it.   • Converting a company from SVN to Hg?

    We're a heavy user of SVN here. While the advantages of GIT over SVN made us want to change, the advantages of Hg over SVN mean it's now time to change and we need to start doing so very soon. I'm not so worried on the client side, but here are my questions. There are some excellent books on setting file metaproperties, properly organizing projects, etc on SVN. What is that book(s) for Hg? Is there a way to convert an SVN repository (that you've used) and can report how well it went? We don't want to lose years of commit logs if possible. When you DO convert, how did you split up the old code? Did you commit trunk as one project, and tags/forks as another? If you used SVN for legacy work, did you check in updates to SVN or something else?
