• How can I fix a broken AVI file?

  I have a broken AVI, it won't play in VLC, Xine or MPlayer. I tried Handbrake (reads the file and resets the source to None), OggConvert, Avidemux and mencoder fail to read the file, I cannot seem to reencode this file. I suspect the header info is corrupt, is there a way to get the a/v streams out with a missing header?

  Possible Duplicate: Auto-tagging MP3s I'm currently using musicbranz picard to tag files that don't have any usable tagging information. For some reason, currently none of the files I trying to ID seem to be identified, despite some of them them being artists who are almost certainly on musicbrainz. So, I'm looking for something that uses an alternate database and does the same thing - to identify unknown music files off an audio fingerprint. Windows is preferred, but I would be fine with any of the big 3 OSes (Windows/Linux/OS X).

  I am trying to get a Ruby on Rails app hosted free somewhere, and Heroku is looking like my last resource. It is supposed to work on Linux, and the gem installs with no errors, but whenever I run any Heroku command it spits out several errors, all connected, and talking about a failed require. I looked it up in the code, and it says: require 'readline' That is it. I have tried to install every variation of libreadline that I can find and think of, but none of it makes any difference.

  On my Windows Vista PC, there is always an instance of "GoogleUpdate.exe" running. I find this annoying, so I'd like to make sure it doesn't start automatically. This proves to be not so easy, as I have tried these solutions: I disabled the "Google updateservice" service I removed the registry section "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Google Update" None of these worked. The registry section is simply re-added. Does anyone know the trick to avoid GoogleUpdate.exe to be started after booting the system?

• Problem deploying GWT application on apache and tomcat using mod_jk

  I'm trying to deploy a GWT app on Apache using mod_jk connector. I have compiled the application and tested it on tomcat on the address localhost:8080/loginapp and it works ok.   I am using an open source application (conkeror) which is configured via a file containing javascript. Any issues with the javascript is printed to the console. This is fine under Linux as all the information is shown as long as the it is started from a shell. However, under Windows none of the information is show even when started from a shell. Is there a way to make this information displayed in the shell or to capture it in say a file?
