    Hi, I'm just starting with Android and can't find how to display a list in my activity. I get some restaurant data from a web service and I'd like to show the results in a list. The activity, the restaurant class and the layout main.xml are shown below.     Hi, Hoping someone can give me some pointers with this entropy problem. Say X is chosen randomly from the uniform integer distribution 0-32 (inclusive). I calculate the entropy, H(X) = 32 bits, as each Xi has equal probability of occurring. Now, say the following pseudocode executes. int r = rand(0,1); // a random integer 0 or 1 r = r * 33 + X; How would I work out the mutual information between the two variables r and X? Mutual Information is defined as I(X; Y) = H(X) - H(X|Y) but I don't really understand how to apply the conditional entropy H(X|Y) to this problem. Thanks

  • Help with method logic in Java, hw

    I have a Loan class that in its printPayment method, it prints the amortization table of a loan for a hw assignment. We are also to implement a print first payment method, and a print last payment method. Since my calculation is done in the printPayment method, I didn't know how I could get the value in the first or last iteration of the loop and print that amount out. One way I can think of is to write a new method that might return that value, but I wasn't sure if there was a better way.   • Need help with version number schemes

    I know the standard Major.Minor.Build.Revision but there's several considerations for us that are somewhat unique -We do internal releases almost daily, occasionally more than once a day. -Windows Installer doesn't check Revision so that's almost moot for our purposes. -Major and Minor numbers ideally are only updated for public releases and should be done manually. -That leaves the Build # that needs to be automatically updated. -We want internal releases to be able to be performed from any developer's machine so that leaves out using x.x.* in Visual Studio because different numbers could be generated from different machines and each build isn't guaranteed to be larger than the previous. -We have about 15 or so projects as part of the product so saving the version numbers in SVN isn't ideal since every release we'd have commit all those files. Given those criteria I can't really come up with a good versioning scheme. The last 2 criteria could be dropped but meeting all of those seems ideal. A date stamp is insufficient because we might do more than one a day, and given the max size of Uint32 (around 64000) (Actually using WiX it complains about numbers higher than Int32.MaxValue) a date/time won't fit.

  • Need help with Drupal bulk mail low open rate for legitimate mailing list

    I've moved from constant contact to Drupal Simplenews/Mimemail/SMTP. Previously the open rate was around 50% for constant contact, but now it's 4-5% for the same list via the mentioned setup. Mail is getting out from the server, but it's having an issue anyway. Here's the setup: -The e-mail list consists of approximately 80,000 addresses which is queued at 10,000 e-mails per cron run (which runs hourly). -The server is a Dual Core2Quad machine with 2GB of RAM. -When mail is being sent, the mail queue will usually go up to ~1000 at the beginning of the hour before reducing to ~250 by the time the next cron occurs. -Newsletter is themed to display custom style for newsletter on send -Newsletter is received by some, but appears to be bounced by many (based on low open rate_ -I've added SPF, domain keys, and a PTR record to the DNS -Server hostname (listed in ptr) is different from hosted domain -Very low spam number via Spamassassin -IP and domain are not blacklisted -Mail goes out via SMTP module on delivery. Any ideas?

    Hello everybody. Fist of all I want to say IIS to me is like a vending machine to a monkey. So I have Windows XP SP2 with IIS 5.1 on it and an ASP.NET Web Forms project. I just want my website to be accessed by someone else from the internet or from my local network. How do I configure IIS so that is possible? The first method, with the only change being the addition of the length property, correctly filters the elements. I would very much like a line-by-line explanation.
