• After rich:extendedDataTable sortby, other actions are not getting executed

  I have several tabs and one of the tabs uses rich:extendedDataTable. If sortBy is clicked in the page where table is used and if I navigate to another page, it looks for the bean of the old page and throws an error saying that sortyBy of the column is undefined. E.g. If I use sortBy on userId in tab1 (where the column must have sortBy="#{data.userId}") and then I click on tab2, it looks for the data.userId and throws an error. I am using Richfaces version 3.2.2SR1. Can anyone help me on this? • protecting COM interfaces from exceptions

  I have several dozen objects exposed through COM interfaces, each of which with many methods, totaling a few hundred methods. These interfaces expose business objects from my app to a scripting engine. I have been given the task of protecting every single one of these methods from exceptions being thrown (to catch them and return an error using COM's Error() function, which incidentally I can find no documentation on because it's impossible to google). To my understanding, this requires that I add a try/catch around the guts of each one of these methods. The catch blocks are going to be similar or identical for each and every one of these hundreds of methods, which strongly smells of a problem (massively violates the DRY principle), but I can't think of any way to avoid changing every method. As far as I can tell, these methods are invoked directly by COM, with no intervening code that I can hook into to catch the exceptions. My current best idea is to make a macro for the catch block, but that has it's own sort of code-smell. Can anyone come up with a better approach? BTW, my app's exceptions do not derive from std::exception, so if there is some way of COM automatically handling standard exceptions, it won't help. And I sadly cannot change the existing exceptions to derive from std::exception.

  Hi, I have 2 models, Assessments and Questions. Assessments have many questions. • Side by side madness - running binaries on different computer (with a twist)

  Here's my configuration: Computer A - Windows 7, MS Visual Studio 2005 patched for Win7 compatibility (8.0.50727.867) Computer B - Windows XP SP2, MS Visual Studio 2005 installed (8.0.50727.42) My project has some external dependencies (prebuilt DLLs - either build on A or downloaded from the Internet), a couple of DLLs built from sources and one executable. I am mostly developing on A and all is fine there. At some point I try to build my project on computer B, copying the prebuilt DLLs to the output folder. Everything builds fine, but trying to start my application I get The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002).... The event log contains two of those: Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system. plus the slightly more amusing Generate Activation Context failed for some.dll. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully. At this point I'm trying my Google-Fu, but in vain - virtually all hits are about running binaries on machines without Visual Studio installed. In my case, however, the executables fail to run on the computer they are built. Next step was to try dependency walker and it baffled me even more - my DLLs built from sources on the same box cannot find MSVCR80.DLL and MSVCP80.DLL, however the executable seems to be alright in respect to those two DLLs i.e. when I open the executable with dependency walker it shows that the MSVC?80.DLLs can be found, but when I open one of my DLLs it says they cannot. That's where I am completely out of ideas what to do so I'm asking you, dear stackoverflow :) I admit I'm a bit blurry on the whole side-by-side thing, so general reading on the topic will also be appreciated.

• Form submitted via dialog opens dialog again

  I have a form in a jquerymobile dialog box that I am submitting via jQuery Ajax. Currently my problem is that once the form is submitted the same dialog box is opened again on top of the original dialogbox. So that my url reads before submission: url/index.php#&ui-state=dialog and then after submission: url/index.php#&ui-state=dialog#&ui-state=dialog&ui-state=dialog Has anyone ever encountered something like this before?   (Scala 2.7.7:) I don't get used to 2d-Arrays. Arrays are mutable, but how do I specify a 2d-Array which is - let's say of size 3x4. The dimension (2D) is fixed, but the size per dimension shall be initializable. I have tried this with just a string instead of the datatype (void RegisterDeviceTokenForYoumiePost(string token); ) but i get the same error. All help is appreciated, can't figure it out. It looks like it's creating invalid xml from the json message, but i'm not doing any custom serialization here. The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: Error in deserializing body of request message for operation 'RegisterDeviceTokenForYoumiePost'. • Qt/MFC Migration Framework tool: properly exiting DLL?

  I'm using the Qt/MFC Migration Framework tool following this example: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/solutions/4/qtwinmigrate/winmigrate-qt-dll-example.html The dll I build is loaded by a 3rd party MFC-based application. The 3rd party app basically calls one of my exported DLL functions to startup my plugin and another function to shutdown my application. Currently I'm doing nothing in my shutdown function. When I load my DLL in the 3rd party app the startup function is called and my DLL starts successfully and I can see my message box. However if I shutdown my plugin and then try to start it again I get the following error: Debug Error! Program: <my 3rd party app> Module: 4.7.1 File: global\qglobal.cpp Line: 2262 ASSERT failure in QWidget: "Widgets must be created in the GUI thread.", file kernel\qwidget.cpp line 1233 (Press Retry to debug the application) Abort Retry Ignore This makes me think I'm not doing something to properly shutdown my plugin. What do I need to do to shut it down properly? UPDATE: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/solutions/4/qtwinmigrate/winmigrate-walkthrough.html says: The DLL also has to make sure that it can be loaded together with other Qt based DLLs in the same process (in which case a QApplication object will probably exist already), and that the DLL that creates the QApplication object remains loaded in memory to avoid other DLLs using memory that is no longer available to the process. So I wonder if there is some problem where I need to somehow keep the original DLL loaded no matter what?

• PDCurses TUI with C++ Win32 console application

  I have downloaded pdcurses source and was able to successfully include curses.h in my project, linked the pre-compiled library and all good. After few hours of trying out the library, I saw the tuidemo.c in the demos folder, compiled it into an executable and brilliant! exactly what I needed for my project. Now the problem is that it's a C code, and I am working on a C++ project in VS c++ 2008. The files I need are tui.c and tui.h How can I include that C file in my C++ code? I saw few suggestions here but the compiler was not too happy with 100's of warnings and errors. How can I go on including/using that TUI pdcurses includes!? • ajax to php to curl and back..

  I am trying to make an ajax call to a php script. The php script calls an rss feed using curl, gets the data, and returns the data to the funciton. I keep getting an error "Warning: Wrong parameter count for curl_error() in" .... Here is my php code:1 $ch = curl_init() or die(curl_error()); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $feed); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $data1 = curl_exec($ch) or die(curl_error()); echo $data1; and the ajax call: $.ajax({ url: "getSingleFeed.php", type: "POST", data: "feedURL=" + window.feedURL, success: function(feed){ alert(feed); }}); I tested all the variables, they are being passed correctly, I can echo them out. But this line: $data1 = curl_exec($ch) or die(curl_error()); is what is giving me the error. I am doing the same thing with curl on other pages, just without ajax, and it is working fine. Is there anything special I need to do with ajax to do this?

• How to delete a QProcess instance correctly?

If I handle it like following, my program crashes: void FakeRunner::procError(QProcess::ProcessError rc) { delete proc; proc = 0; } It works well, though, if I don't delete the pointer. So, the question is how (and when) should I delete the pointer to QProcess? I believe I have to delete it to avoid a memory leak. FakeRunner::run() can be invoked many times, so the leak, if there is one, will grow. Thanks!

• item-not-found(404) when trying to get a node using Smackx pubsub

  I'm trying to use the latest Smackx trunk to get and then subscribe to a pubsub node. However, openfire just sends me a back an error: item not found (404). I am instantiating the java objects from ColdFusion, so my code snippets might look funny but maybe someone will be able to tell me what I've forgotten. Here's how I create the node: ftype = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.FormType"); cform = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.ConfigureForm").init(ftype.submit); cform.setPersistentItems(true); cform.setDeliverPayloads(true); caccess = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.AccessModel"); cform.setAccessModel(caccess.open); cpublish = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.PublishModel"); cform.setPublishModel(cpublish.open); cform.setMaxItems(99); manager = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.PubSubManager").init(XMPPConnection); myNode = manager.createNode("subber", cform); And here's how I am trying to get to it (in a different section of code): manager = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.PubSubManager").init(XMPPConnection); myNode = manager.getNode("subber"); Immediately upon creating the node I seem to be able to publish to it like so: payload = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.SimplePayload").init("book","pubsub:test:book","<book xmlns='pubsub:test:book'><title>Lord of the Rings</title></book>"); item = createObject("java", "org.jivesoftware.smackx.pubsub.Item").init(payload); myNode.publish(item); However, it is the getNode() call that is causing my code to error. I have verified that the nodes are being created by checking the DB used by my openfire server. I can see them in there, properly attributed as leaf nodes, etc. Any advice? Anyone else out there doing anything with XMPP and ColdFusion? I have had great success sending and receiving messages with CF and Smack just haven't had the pubsub working yet :) Thanks!

  In our system, we have a number of classes whose construction must happen asynchronously. We wrap the construction process in another class that derives from an IConstructor class: class IConstructor { public: virtual void Update() = 0; virtual Status GetStatus() = 0; virtual int GetLastError() = 0; }; There's an issue with the design of the current system - the functions that create the IConstructor-derived classes are often doing additional work which can also fail. At that point, instead of getting a constructor which can be queried for an error, a NULL pointer is returned. Restructuring the code to avoid this is possible, but time-consuming. In the meantime, I decided to create a constructor class which we create and return in case of error, instead of a NULL pointer: class FailedConstructor : public IConstructor public: virtual void Update() {} virtual Status GetStatus() { return STATUS_ERROR; } virtual int GetLastError() { return m_errorCode; } private: int m_errorCode; }; All of the above this the setup for a mundane question: what do I name the FailedConstructor class? In our current system, FailedConstructor would indicate "a class which constructs an instance of Failed", not "a class which represents a failed attempt to construct another class". I feel like it should be named for one of the design patterns, like Proxy or Adapter, but I'm not sure which.

• How to deploy ClickOnce .Net 3.5 application on 3.0 machine

  I have .Net 3.5 SP1 WPF application which I'm successfully deploying to client computers using ClickOnce. Now I got new requirement - one of our clients need to run the application on machines equipped just with .Net 3.0 and it's entirely impossible to upgrade or install anything on the machines. I already tried to run the 3.5 application with some of the 3.5FW DLLs copied to the application directory and it worked without any problems. The only problem at the moment is ClickOnce. I already made it to include the 3.5FW System.*.dll files in list of application files, but it always aborts installation on 3.0 machine with this error message: Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly System.Core Version 3.5.0.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first. Please contact your system administrator. I already tried to tweak prerequisites on Publish tab of my project, but no combination solved the issue. What part of ClickOnce is responsible for checking prerequisites? I already tried to deploy using mageui.exe, but the 3.5FW error is still present. What should I do to fore ClickOnce to stop checking any prerequisites at all? The project is created using VS2010.

I added Prerequisites like: .NET 3.5, Microsoft office interoperability, VS tools for office System 3.0 Run time, .etc. After that Selected "Download Prerequisite from Same location as my application" in Specify install location for Prerequisite. I Built the setup and found mysetup.msi in Release directory. In a new machine I started fresh installation of my application. A dialog shows like this "This Setup Requires .NET framework 3.5 , Please install .NET setup then run this setup, .NET Framework can be obtained from web Do you want to do that now?" it gives "Yes" and "No" option - if I press yes it goes to Microsoft website. How can avoid it? I wanted setup take .NET Framework to be installed from same location where I put all setup files including mysetup.msi? In case of quiet installation cmd /c "msiexec /package mysetup.msi /quiet /log install.log" ..in log I can see only half way through installation then error Property(S): HideFatalErrorForm = TRUE MSI (s) (D0:24) [00:07:08:015]: Product: my product-- Installation failed. === Logging stopped: 3/23/2010 0:07:08 === How can complete I the installation without user intervention and without error using VS2008 setup project? • Can't connect to SQL Server 2005 Express from an ASP.NET C# page

  Hey guys, I have an MS SQL Server 2005 Express running on a VPS. I'm using pymssql in Python to connect to my server with the following code: conn = pymssql.connect(host='host:port', user='me', password='pwd', database='db') and it works perfectly. When I try to connect to the server from an ASP.NET C# page with the following code: SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection("Data Source=host,port;Network Library=DBMSSOCN; Initial Catalog=db;User ID=me;Password=pwd;"); myConnection.Open(); When I run the ASP.NET page I get the following exception at myConnection.Open();: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) I tried restarting the SQL Server but I had no luck. Can anyone point me out to what I'm missing here? Thanks!

• Unable to render php files in browser

  Hello, I am very new to php, and I am trying to develop a facebook application using php. I am using Joyent as my hosting platform. Currently, I am trying to do some simple scripts in php and then build on them. However I am unable to see any php files being rendered properly in my application. For eg: I have a simple script called phpinfo.php: If I execute this on terminal like php phpinfo.php , I can see all the configurations. However if I try to access the same file as http://xxxxxx.facebook.joyent.us/phpinfo.php, I get : Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Even if I rename this file to index.php its still the same. However I am able to access other html files [index.html] on the same location . • How to Avoid PHP Object Nesting/Creation Limit?

  I've got a handmade ORM in PHP that seems to be bumping up against an object limit and causing php to crash. Some boxes take more than 40,000 objects. I've tried it on Linux/Appache (fail) but my app runs on IIS/FastCGI. On FastCGI this causes the famous "The FastCGI process exited unexpectedly" error. Obviously 20k objects is a bit high, but it crashes with far fewer objects if they have data and nested complexity. Fast CGI isn't the issue - I've tried running it from the command line. I've tried setting the memory to something really high - 6,000MB and to something really low - 24MB. If I set it low enough I'll get the "allocated memory size xxx bytes exhausted" error. I'm thinking that it has to do with the number of functions that are called - some kind of nesting prevention. I didn't think that my ORM's nesting was that complicated but perhaps it is. I've got some pretty clear cases where if I load just ONE more object it dies, but loads in under 3 seconds if it works.
